She’s my best friend’s kid sister. Now she’s not a kid any more.As a forest ranger, I believe in the simple life. I prefer cabins to apartments, trails over freeways, and trees to people. My life is orderly, predictable, and quiet.Until it’s hit by a woman I never saw coming — Hurricane June. She’s fierce. She’s feisty. She has a laugh like the first day of spring, and she’s so pretty that I can’t … spring, and she’s so pretty that I can’t breathe when I look at her. June will only be in town for a few months—just while job-hunting. She won’t last until winter, but how can I resist?
Except I have to. She’s my best, oldest, and most loyal friend’s baby sister.
Betraying him would be the worst thing I’ve ever done. Not betraying him might be the hardest.
Especially once we start working together on a secret project. All this spending time together, sneaking around at night, and lying to her brother about what we’re doing sure feels like more than friendship.
June might break my heart.
Her brother might break my nose.
But I guess some things were made to be broken.
Break the Rules is a steamy, standalone romantic comedy.

I am loving this series, Levi the oldest and most serious of the loveless brothers has a secret, he is in love with his best friends little sister. He knows the code, you don’t mess with little sisters but June is making it impossible to follow the rules. I loved these characters, Levi is quiet with a sly sense of humour and June is sweet but sassy especially when dealing with her brother. These two are meant to be and everyone in the Loveless family see’s it, it is just June’s brother Silas who needs to be convinced. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and I truly hope Silas will get his own story too!
Levi Loveless is hands down the sexiest and my most favorite Loveless! Levi and June had me rolling the whole book! Their story from start to finish is full of so much love, humor and shows how the bonds of “family” is everything!! And Levi makes following the rules look sooo good especially when he decides to break them!
I absolutely loved seeing all the loveless’ again! Their bickering and constant nosiness makes for the most amazing family! I love how these brothers are there for each other and the ones they love!
June is definitely one of my fave Noir heroines! She is quirky and though we meet her at a vulnerable time she proves to be very confident and definitely someone you don’t say no to when she’s made up her mind, and Levi is her perfect match! He is the calm to her storm! She brings him out of his cave and shows him just how beautiful the world is and together they do more than they ever can apart!
Levi & June’s story is amazing! Their chemistry in undeniable and burns bright. A romance that reminds us of what true love and romance is a ll about
June is back home, lost her job and wants to remake herself, also find a job at a newspaper. Her brother, Silas, trying to help. Meanwhile Levi Loveless is a park ranger. One day June was driving home during a very bad storm when a tree falls across the road taking down power lines which fall on her car. Luckily Levi comes by to save her. Now June has had a bad crush on him for a very long time. He takes her to his cabin. They get to talking about the situation with someone cutting down very old trees. They start to investigate together. Levi also has feelings for June but refuses to act on them because her brother is his best friend and he doesn’t want to betray him or get is butt kicked either. They find out why they are cutting down all these old trees and work together to figure out who is doing this and bring them to justice. Their feelings finally get in the way. They keep it secret from June’s brother. You need to read to find out how it all ends. Will they find out who has been cutting the trees? Will Levi and June get a HEA? The book made me laugh and made me cry. Very well written.
This is the third book in the Loveless Brothers and while it could be read on its own I think they are better read in order I had read and enjoyed the first two books but I have to admit Levi’s was my favorite I just did not want to put it down and I would recommend it.
The Loveless Family is back with Levi’s story. He is the oldest brother who realizes his best friend’s sister is all grown up. And June is back home, searching for her path in life while holding on to her unrequited love for her brother’s best friend. These two are perfect for each other and we get the pleasure of following their cute, fun, and very sexy romance. We also have a little suspense happening that helps bring these two together. Roxie Noir does a wonderful job of telling this love story for Levi and June, plus we get to see the rest of the family and their loved ones. I love family series where we get to continue to see everyone from previous books, even though all of the books can be read as standalones and this series is all of that! Please go and read this book, it is fun with laugh out loud moments and a beautiful love story.
Break the Rules is a complete feel good book!! I was laughing, sighing, blushing, drawn into the mystery they were trying to solve, and felt like I got my exercise while hiking through the woods with Levi and June. This is the first Roxie Noir book I’ve ever read and it will not be the last. I absolutely loved it!
Break the Rules is the third book in the Loveless Brothers series, but I was able to jump right into this series without missing a thing. (Although I want to go back and read the first ones just because I thoroughly enjoyed Roxie’s writing and the Loveless brothers are hilarious, if this still gives you any indication on how much I enjoyed this book.)
Levi Loveless is the oldest brother out of five (what a loud, messy house hold that must have been to grow up in). There is nothing better than the solitude of the forest and organization within his own home now that Levi enjoys. That is until he ends up rescuing June, his best friends little sister that he does not have sisterly feelings for one…little…bit. She turns his quiet life upside down and it turns out he doesn’t seem to mind when it comes to her. Although Levi is hesitant to get involved knowing she isn’t going to stay, but he also can’t seem to stay away and eventually he decides not to.
June has had a crush on Levi for as long as she can remember. He was always the quietest and most reserved of his brothers, but that was something she actually found the most appealing about him. When Levi rescues her during a major storm, which after talking leads them down a road to solve a mystery…together…June jumps on the case. She not only wants any reason to spend more time with Levi, but she also loves solving a mystery. June wants to spend every moment with Levi while she’s still in town and if solving a mystery is the way to do it she will. But the prospect of leaving becomes harder and harder the longer she spends with him.
Together these two are a perfect team, but there is an expiration date looming between them. June never promised to stay, but the longer she spends with Levi, the more she wants to stay. How do you change the rules during the middle of the game?
Break the Rules is packed with so much goodness and funny moments, you will love this book!
It’s book 3 of the Loveless Brothers series, and it’s Levi’s story! And June! After a hilarious scene between these two in Daniel’s book, where Levi calls his best friends little sister ‘Ma’am,’ I knew this story was going to be fabulous.
And it was.
Levi Loveless, Silas’s best friend and my nearly-lifelong crush…
June is on a mission to reinvent herself after a bad break up and losing her job. And a part of that was learning to love nature. She does not love nature. But she is seriously trying to convince herself to love nature. Levi, on the other hand, is the chief arborist with the forest rangers. So he actually does love nature.
I love nature. I love the outdoors. I love trees and rocks and dirt and… nature stuff. It’s just so peaceful and calm and nice and definitely not full of murderous animals with large teeth and poison ivy, which is why I like it so very much.
But when someone starts chopping down his very old, beloved trees, he’s not exactly a happy camper. And for June that’s a mystery she can’t turn down. It doesn’t hurt that she’s had a crush on Levi since she was a kid.
Best friends brother/sister has always been one of my favourite tropes. And Break the Rules was amazing. Levi and Silas are so close and have been since they were little. Their friendship has persisted for thirty-ish years. And now, eight years on from Silas’ marine tour, he leans on Levi more than anyone else. And Levi is terrified to lose his friendship with Silas, so for a long time both he and June push their feelings aside and pretend to be just friends.
…what if I went against every rational, logical argument I’ve made to myself regarding June? What if I ignored my friendship with Silas and her surely-imminent departure from Sprucevale?
I can’t. I know I can’t, but what if?
Needless to say, this does not work. And Levi and June embark on a secret relationship, which does seem to be a theme with these brothers (and their mother, because I’m pretty sure she’s dating someone in secret as well). There are family interruptions, random wireless conversations, a terrible alias, conversations no brother ever wants to hear about his sister and parents who are smarter than the average bear.
“-sometimes more, it’s so hard to keep track, there’s just so many holes – ”
“You win!” Silas says, holding up both hands. “Okay. You win, I’m sorry, I’m going to go lose at Parcheesi a million more times.”
He’s already walking back across the porch, and just as he opens the door, June calls out, “Orgy!” and Silas flips her off, then disappears.
June and Levi are awesome together. They’re both nerdy weirdos, who love their families, think snakes move weird, and want to solve tree murder mysteries. (Which by the way, did not see that ending coming!)
And now, I know this series is about the Loveless brothers, I know. However, if Silas does not get a story, I will revolt. And because I’m pretty sure Seth is already spoken for with Delilah, Silas can date Caleb. I’ve decided. It’s done. Silas gets a story.
Anyway, I loved this book, check out the others, they’re super cool too.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
I am completely in love with these two and I think these two are my favorite of this series so far. I really couldn’t get enough of them at all. Amazing series so far and one I am so freaking excited about reading Everytime a new one comes out and can not wait for the next one.
Break the Rules was so good. Levi and June were perfect together. He’s her older brother’s best friend and quiet the nature guy. June is quite the opposite fun, smart and outgoing. They were great characters that had incredible chemistry. This was sweet and sexy with plenty of humor and great interactions.
I been patiently waiting for Levi’s story and it did not disappoint! It’s always the quite one who will surprise you and with Levi’s character I wanted a woman who will hold up to his and June is it. She knows what she wants, fun and is an opposite winner for Levi. I enjoyed watching how they both mesh together with their great chemistry and sizzling attraction. I definitely recommend this best friend sister romance read.
I love the best friend’s little sister trope and Roxie Noir gave us a good one. Levi and June’s story is my favorite of the series so far. Even though I have only read Best Fake Fiance and Break the Rules, you do not need to read any of the books in this series to enjoy each book, but I highly recommend reading them. I can not wait to dive into the first book, Enemies With Benefits.
Ms. Noir really makes us love, blush, and fall in love. This was a fun story that will give you all the feels. Definitely a must read and if you have not picked up any of the other books in this series grab them too!
After glimpses of Levi in the first two Loveless Brothers books I knew he’d be my favorite. I was not disappointed, Roxie Noir’s characters always grab me and pull me right in, they are real and relatable and fun! Levi is quiet, contemplative, and a self described nerd. June is his best friend’s younger sister who is back in town after losing her job. She is Levi’s perfect match but she is definitely off limits, maybe. Loved it!!!!!!
Sexy, funny, comedic romance. Levi is a forest ranger and June is an out of work journalist. Both attracted to each other but, June is Levi’s best, oldest, and most loyal friend’s baby sister. I love the interaction between Levi and June and their families. You will love this story. It’s a standalone, no cliffhanger and hea. Also available is Enemies with Benefits (Eli & Violet), Best Fake Fiance (Daniel & Charlie).
I voluntarily received this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
Levi has rocketed to the top of my Roxie Noir hero’s, knocking Stone from Convict off his pedestal. Levi’s love (bro love) for Silas amidst his conflict about his feeling for June, Silas’s sister, is endearing, but his growing love for June… swoonworthy.
Levi and June have known each other since forever, and June has crushed on Levi, since … well, forever. With June back home, jobless, their paths are bound to cross, and Levi starts to have these thoughts about her. Thoughts her brother would not understand. Especially when he rescues her and she ends up naked in his shower… alone.
And from that moment on, it’s a give/take, push/pull, between the two of them. I highly recommend Break the Rules.
I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Let’s get right to it, this is a book about Levi and June. Levi is a quiet, steady, back to nature kind of dude who works for the Park service. June is currently back living with her parents and job hunting after being let go from her job as a reporter. June’s brother is Levi’s best and oldest friend. Yes, this is that “fall in love with the sister of your best friend” trope. And it is done marvelously! I just loved this couple together! I was already so excited for this next book from Roxie and it really blew my socks off it was so good! I devoured this book immediately upon download! All I can say is YUM! Fingers crossed that June’s brother, Silas gets his own book!
Overall Grade:
Levi Loveless is attracted to June. June has had a crush on Levi Loveless for much of her life. The problem? Levi is Silas’s best friend, and June…well, she’s Silas’s younger sister. Could anything be any more problematic?
Roxie Noir’s Break the Rules is a story about forbidden love where Levi and June fall for each other, but they keep it from her brother until they no longer can. Break the Rules is the perfect combination of sweet, sexy, and sentimental. It’s a lovely blend of a charming unique hero, a witty, spunky heroine, and a cast of characters who tickle your funny bone and bring tears to your eyes.
From its outset, I fell in love with Levi Loveless. He’s different. He prefers solitude over spending time with people; he loves nature as it empowers him, and he chooses to forgo the extravagances of the 21st century such as smartphones and, for some time, WiFi. He will charm you. More importantly, he is uniquely destined for June. He fights his attraction to her until he can’t. I was surprised at how quickly Noir resolves his internal struggle to purse June, yet she continues the tension in the story as Levi and June hide their attraction and relationship from Silas, June’s brother. Yet, Levi continues to ingratiate himself on your heart. If you don’t love him from the beginning of this book, then your soul isn’t right, and you need to fix it.
Like Levi, June is easy to love. She is the perfect blend of smart, sassy, funny, and strong. She appreciates Levi’s quirkiness, and their time together offers some of the best moments of the story. There were times when I needed her to be more honest with her feelings for Levi, but it’s clear that her relationship with her brother muddies her decision making. In fact, her relationship with Silas is probably one of the best parts of the story because Silas, like his sister and the other Loveless brothers, is hilarious. Some of the funniest moments of this book (and there are quite a few) present themselves when Silas and June are together. Noir gives her a spirit of adventure, but she illustrates through June that dreams and plans can change. That adaptability is the key to living a meaningful life.
After reading Daniel and Charlie’s story in Noir’s Best Fake Fiance, I wasn’t sure if she could replicate the chemistry between hero and heroine and a story that could engage her readers. Break the Rules suggests that Roxie Noir is a keen storyteller. Interwoven into this story are questions and lessons about the environment, integrity, and being true to yourself. From the first page to the last, I didn’t want to put this romance down because Levi and June are special. They have a chemistry that endears you to them. There is an ease to their relationship that makes you root for them as they struggle to find their space. Even when Silas and June’s potential career choice try to derail them, they stand in their relationship strength. I think what I love most about them is their ability to talk and engage with each other. Naturally, Levi isn’t someone who tends towards conversation. Yet, June brings this out of him. They are the ultimate complements to each other.
As far as I’m concerned, Roxie Noir is a storyteller whom I want to continue to read. Break the Rules is the second of her books I’ve read, and I’m all in. In fact, she’s won me over with the Loveless brothers. If you love romance with some humor, some sentimentality, and a bit of angst, then Break the Rules is a must-read.
For honest review. When June silas sister gets stuck in her car after a storm best friend of silas and ranger Levi loveless to the rescue and oh boy . Now their out to find who cutting down old trees and the two of them are on the case. Awesome story
This is the perfect romcom! Levi and June are adorably funny together and she has always wanted him but he’s off limits cause of her brother until Levi ends up rescuing her and neither is sure they can stop themselves even if they wanted to. Super cute story
I voluntarily reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book
Break the Rules is, in my opinion, the funniest yet in the Loveless series. I cracked up at one point so loud my husband had to ask what was up. And that cover is yum.
Levi is such a genuine, don’t hold back dude. The only reason he hesitates on anything is fear of getting his heart broken or losing someone he cares for. June is smart and determined and they are such a good match. I will say though that her brother is even more entertaining and I hope he gets a book. He deserves one.
Anywho, I had trouble putting this down, and it was one of those stories that make you smile a lot.
