The Winter Games are over, but the bedroom games are just beginning… your gorgeous, single, sexy friend wait on you hand and foot can blur the lines between friendship and romance.
Which is exactly why I’ve decided to help her find a boyfriend.
Yeah, you heard me right. I’m going to help her comb through every dating app available until she finds the perfect man. What else could remind me of my place in her life more than watching her fall for someone else?
I can deal. I’m used to pushing through pain. I’m an Olympian after all.
A sexy FRIENDS TO LOVERS romcom standalone in the Bedroom Games Series.

Well, this was just ridiculous fun! The whole series, not just Break The Ice. I enjoyed all three tremendously and that’s saying something because let’s face it, how many times do authors hit it out of the park on every book. Not that often, but this pair did that with this trio of books. I was highly entertained throughout them all 🙂
Best friends thru thick and thin become more ……. *happy sigh* (that’s one of my faves) Beckett and Skylar did the friends thing real well and it took a lot for Beckett to get past his past to be ready to acknowledge that Skylar was way more than just a friend to him. Skylar was another story. She was a hard nut to crack but when she did, ohhhhhhhh the sweetness of it all!
This story was not just entertaining in a rom-com kinda way, it was also an emotional story of growth and trust. It was fun and flirty and feely and all around good time!
Break the ice was a great ending to a series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and have to say, Break the Ice is my favorite. I love stories of friends becoming lovers. I have really enjoyed getting to know these characters in this series.
These two are definitely two stubborn people. So stubborn that I would love to knock some sense into them. Beckett and Skylar make the cutest couple. They have been best friends for four years. Everyone else knew that they would end up together, so why did it take so long? They both have different things they want for the future which puts a strain on their friendship and makes it hard them to move past the “friendship” level.
Break the Ice is the third book in the Bedroom Games Series. It can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading the whole series.
When you think Piper Rayne you probably think light and fun, with plenty of laughs, good friends, and a fair amount of heat. With Break the Ice you’ll definitely find all of the above, but it’s also a more emotionally charged story between 2 best friends who just can’t seem to get on the same page. The impression I had of Skylar and Beckett’s relationship from the previous two books in this series was thrown out of the window once I started reading.
I wasn’t expecting how much of an emotional punch this story would give me, when it really started to delve into Beckett’s back story. My heart broke for him. His love for Skylar wasn’t ever in question, but he didn’t feel he was worthy of her, and that made me so sad. It was hard to see the pain both Beckett and Skylar went through because of his choices. I’m in no way blaming him, he was doing what he thought was best. But thankfully, they have really great friends who are always there to make each other see the error of their ways.
Break the Ice was a sweet, moving end to the Bedroom Games series. I can’t wait to see what Piper and Rayne have up their sleeves for us next!
So this isn’t the normal fun, light easy read that we are use to from Piper Rayne. Beckett and Skyler’s story was emotional and heartbreaking at times because of Beckett’s feelings of not being enough our deserving of love. Prepare yourself for some passionate and raw sentiments that will grip you throughout this read and holds on to you until the very end. I’m sad to see this series end but looking forward to the next amazing series by this dynamic duo!
4.5 Stars
I loved it! This was definitely my favorite book in this series because it was exactly my kind of story. What’s not to love about a closed-off guy like Beckett Meyers who screwed up with the only girl he cared about, but still stayed the hero we loved and got the girl in the end?
Honestly, although I loved the glimpses we got of Beckett in the previous books, I didn’t expect his book to be so good. I mean, I loved all Piper Rayne books so far, some more than others, but I loved them all nonetheless. We kind of know what to expect from their books because they all are quite similar regarding the fun and romance but they each have different characteristics and stories which are very enjoyable and lighthearted. Beckett was one of those people who put all the blame on himself and had commitment issues due to his childhood. As in the previous books, the authors kept it light despite the otherwise rather deep stuff of Beckett’s past.
The Story:
This last book in the bedroom games series played after the winter classics. Becket Meyers broke his arm and was now at Skylar’s house, where she took good care of him. They’d been best friends for many years and everyone knew that they belonged together; only they themselves didn’t see it yet. When one drunken night blurred the line between friendship and more, they had to decide which direction they want to go.
Beckett had some baggage which he didn’t want to load on anyone else and therefore kept his past to himself. He was a very private person and while Skylar started looking and yearning for a life beside skiing and planning for the future, he didn’t want anything to change. Their lives ultimately had to take different directions which strained their friendship even more.
Thoughts:
I didn’t always understand the reasons behind Beckett’s actions but some emotions just aren’t logical in certain situations. I liked that he wasn’t a womanizer or manwhore and that he kind of unconsciously waited for Skylar.
There might be some people who’d like to slap Beckett over the head in frustration but I never felt negative emotions towards him because I’m a sucker for stuff like that.
I think he was perfect the way he was; an atypical broken hero who thought that he wasn’t worthy of Skylar. Those are my kind of heroes. Skylar who we’ve known as a strong woman who stood up for her friends showed a weaker side in this book, surely also because she cared so much about Beckett.
We got introduced to some new characters and I can’t wait for the next series and to learn more about the Italian family.
Beckett and Skylar have been best friends for years so when Beckett breaks his arm, Skylar steps in to help take care of him during his recovery. Beckett is extremely confident on the slopes but once he’s off them, the insecurities come to the forefront. That is why he has been holding back his feelings for his best friend for years. Skylar is one of the few friends in his life and he does not want to do anything to risk it.
This story was full of raw emotion and passion that left me speechless. I’m used to lighthearted fun stories that Piper Rayne provides us, but this book was so much more than that. Beckett and Skylar are such wonderful characters, their friends to lovers story had me reeling. I wanted to smack Beckett for the things he said and the way he thinks about himself and I also wanted to just hug Skylar for all that she was dealing with.
Break the Ice is the conclusion to the Bedroom Games from Piper Rayne and I was not prepared for the emotional journey Beckett and Skyler took me on! I’m sad to see the Bedroom Games end but I look forward to the next series!
After the Winter Games are over, Beckett Myers comes back home with a broken arm and, being that he doesn’t have family, he’s spending his recovery with his best friend Skylar Walsh. Weird you say? Nooo, Beckett and Skylar have been best friends for years now and it doesn’t surprise anyone they’re spending time alone at her parents’ home in Chicago after the games.
This time around, Skylar is disappointed about the outcome of the competition and is questioning the right path for her future, wondering if it’s time to set up roots, go to school, maybe start a family. Beckett will suggest she starts dating, but with that will come the ever present question of his real feelings for Skylar and the friendship line will definitely start to blur.
Piper Rayne hit the mark once again. Not all friends to lovers stories are the same and this one definitely touched my heart in a very personal way. Having been there and having made the choice myself, gave me an inside feel into this story.
I loved both Beckett and Skylar, but I seriously wanted to throttle Chelsea more than one time, but I digress. I liked the characters, the story and everything about them, except Chelsea’s meddling. I can understand her, but darn, she was a pain!
Bottom line, Break the Ice is a beautiful story about friendship and love and it was a great closing to this series. I can’t wait for these ladies next project!
*Received an ARC for which I voluntarily provided an honest review*
Beckett won a silver medal, and Skylar won a bronze medal, but this book by Piper Rayne wins gold. This is a wonderful friends to lovers book. Beckett and Sky have been the best of friends for the last four years as they have been training for the Winter Classic. Their relationship has been like a girlfriend-boyfriend with out the benefits. There is still the humor that you find in all the previous books that Piper Rayne has written in this book, but this one is much more emotional than the other ones. It is still though, as always, a wonderful book that you do not want to put down. I voluntarily reviewed this advance copy, and I highly recommend it.
So, yet another series by this amazing duo comes to an end. There was no Classic Games in this one, just Beckett and Skylar fighting their feelings while negotiating their friendship.
Beckett didn’t have the best of childhoods growing up and when he turned eighteen, he walked away, wanting nothing more than to forget all about it. But, it’s easier said than done, he’s kinda broken in that respect. But, somehow, he managed to make good, and now he’s at the top of his career. But, one silly slip up and he’s left paying the price.
Skylar isn’t quite as vocal in her story, she knows how she feels about Beckett, but despite all their friends pointing it out, she doesn’t believe he feels the same way. They’re friends, and that’s all they’ll ever be, no matter what she really wants.
Beckett has been trying to hide from his past since he turned eighteen. He’s struggled with it ever since but when he first saw Skylar he knew he wanted more, he just couldn’t ask for it.
But, after breaking his arm, he is forced to rely on Skylar’s help during his recuperation and he falls even more in love with her. He hates seeing her meeting up with other guys and going on dates. One mad night of over-indulgence causes him to leave his inhibitions behind.
All their friends could see these two belonged together, but Beckett is scared of never being good enough, of Skylar seeing the real him and wondering just what she was doing all along.
Can he and Skylar finally have it all or will he be drowned by his own doubts.
I loved this book and can’t wait for the next new series, from these two awesome authors. I’m sure I’m not the only one who can see another series in the makings in this book. The Bianco brothers, perchance? These Italian Stallions, Luca and Mauro sound hot and deserve the best story out there.
Best friends Beckett and Skyler have always been there for each other. So when Beckett breaks his arm, Skylar steps in to play nurse and help him until he’s back to full mobility. Beckett, while he does have his annoying moments, is a sweetheart. I have a bit of a soft spot for the sexy snowboarder. While he’s confident on the snow, he’s battling a lot of insecurities from his past and they’ve always stopped him from making his relationship with Skylar into more, leading him to push her away and to start dating again.
Skylar has her own problems. Undecided about what she wants to do with her career, under pressure from her family and with love interest in sight, she agrees to give Becketts idea of her dating more a go which of course kicks Becketts jealousy up a notch and makes it clear he can’t keep burying his head in the sand.
This book was everything I’ve come to expect from Piper Rayne. It’s funny, hot, got a slightly slow on the uptake man and a woman you can’t help but love. This book is more emotional than the other books in this series and it can be read as a stand-alone so if you like a friends to more romance, I definitely recommend this.
Skylar and Beckett’s story is a fabulous finish to the bedroom games series. The authors have written a wonderful series with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. The comedy and banter they have written into this book are just priceless (from the kids walking in on Beckett in “all” his glory to Skylar’s “dates”) you’ll be smiling and laughing page after page.
The Classic games are over and Beckett has returned to Skylar’s home so she can help him get around with only one arm. (As we know he broke his arm in Book 2). These two have been the best of friends for 4 years, the trouble is Beckett wants it to be more but he is afraid he’ll lose her friendship altogether when she finds out what a screwed up mess he is. So when he convinces her she needs to get out there and date, they set out together to find her the right guy. I am not sure who has it worse, Beckett for wanting to ruin the dates or Skylar for having to actually put up with the dates. Thus the laughter and fun in the storyline begins in earnest.
I can’t begin to recommend this series enough. The 3 book series, which concludes with Break the Ice, is packed full of fun, laughs and romance. 2 Thumbs Up and Kudos to the authors, Piper Rayne, for a job well done.
