Break of Dawn by Anne Conley was not what I expected. This author is definitely one of my top 5 that I always read. She does not disappoint. This was the kind of book that you keep reading waiting for something to happen. Dawn is such a strong character. She needs no one or nothing. She’s on her own and knows what she needs to do. Jackson rescues her during a storm and instantly they are attracted to each other. Dawn can’t seem to think past the payday for this job.
Jackson is such a sweet kind soul, he’s a perfect gentleman! Dawn and Jackson make a deal to help each other out. Dawn agrees to be his date to a fundraiser and he gives her a place to stay during the storm since she can’t seem to make it home. Dawn knows once the fundraiser comes, she will be on the move again. However she doesn’t expect her father to see her on the news or to come looking for her. What happens when Dawns life is in danger. Will jackson try to save her and risk his own life in the process? This book had me flipping the pages and staying up to finish one more chapter. The writing was great and the author kept you hooked from page 1. Cannot wait for more!!!
Dawn is a bad girl. Not because she was raised that way, but because it is how she can survive on the run from a bad family. Jackson is a good man – the kind who gets the nickname “Boy Scout” just because he is so good. Like a peanut butter and pickle sandwich – they shouldn’t belong together, but they do.
I loved that Jackson is alpha, but so is Dawn. I loved that both realize that love means sacrifice – so many people fail that test, thus the high divorce rate. Finally, I love the heart-stopping hand-raising moments of utter trust in one another.
This is a story that just does not follow any formula or known trope. Do not think you know what they will do, other than fall in love and live happily ever after (it is a romance, after all). How they get there, is completely different, and that is what makes it amazing.
I did it again. Reading while working is not something I routinely do, but when I have one of Anne Conley’s books available, the rules will be broken.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

A HOT thrill ride that had some unexpected twists that sure did keep me engaged and captivated. The story was set to a steady pace and the characters were extremely fascinating. The romance gave me the good kind of sighs and made me very content.
I love Anne Conley and her books. She knows how to write a story that captures a readers attention from start to finish and delivers a heat filled, entertaining, action packed treat that we can’t help but to love. Break of Dawn is just another great example of a book well written from Miss Conley.
Break Of Dawn gets a HOT AND EXCITING FIVE STUNNING STARS!
As hot and wet as summertime in Houston, but in the best way. The chemistry between Dawn and Jackson sparks to life as soon as they hit the pages together and who doesn’t love a good gangster romance? But Anne Conley flips this one over on us with a tough-as-nails bad girl and a straight and narrow mayor’s son. Throw in a hurricane with a tribute to the heroic men and women who hop in their boats to rescue victims when the flood waters rise, and you’ve got a page-turner you won’t be able to put down.
Forget the housework! Forget eating! Forget sleeping! Just keep Reading! Break of Dawn by Anne Conley is another book that is worth looking sleep over. I was glued to this book from the first page to the last. The danger and excitement had me on the edge of my seat. The main characters Dawn and Jackson were so complex and multi-dimensional. Yet, they were so easy to relate to that it was like an afternoon barbeque with friends. And it contained some of the most mouth watering sex scenes I had ever read. Break of Dawn is a stand alone novel but Anne Conley says it’s in the world of her Pierce Security novels. I wouldn’t have known if she hadn’t disclosed that at the end of the book. Now I want to go back and read all the Pierce Security books again! Darn I may never get my house cleaned.
This book opens with a fun dose of mystery and I’m hooked by the end of the first chapter. There’s crime and deceit and family drama and a serious storm … right off the bat! And in true Anne Conley fashion, of course lots of anguish, followed by lots of heat.
A quick, fun read.
