Jordan Slattery is a skateboarding phenom, but no one’s heard of her. That is, until she starts college in California, and heads begin to turn each time she hits the skateparks. She tries to avoid the attention, waking at the crack of dawn to ride before anyone else arrives. That plan backfires when none other than Beckett Steele, skateboarding world champion, shows up at the same park with the … the same plan to avoid the crowds. Too bad his initial interest in her disappears when he realizes she’s only seventeen to his twenty-five. When Beckett’s best friend discovers Jordan on his own and wants to offer her the opportunity of a lifetime, Jordan finds herself considering a future she never imagined. She never wanted to get pulled into the world of sponsorships, competitions, and social media frenzy. But is she willing to sacrifice her obscurity if it means having Beckett Steele in her life?

Jordan Slattery is a quiet girl who loves skateboarding and is not seeking the attention she gets when she shows up in California’s skate-parks. Because people are now noticing her, she goes earlier in the morning to avoid them. It was a good plan, but Beckett Steele, skateboarding world champion, has the same idea. He is attracted to Jordan, but she is younger than he is so he is hesitant to pursue anything. When he can’t get her out of his thoughts and realizes he wants her, will it be too late?
This was a well-written book and the characters were really good and likable. Will Beck let his many responsibilities and his discomfort about her age make him miss out on something very special? Grab your copy and see where life takes the two of them.
Fans of Ali Dean know that she has a very unique way of writing. Her books are almost always related to something sporty and are mostly pretty tame. BRAZEN Rush was no different – pretty, innocent girl goes off to college and is crazy talented in skateboarding
I love her style and I also loved BRAZEN Rush!
This book features Jordan and Beckett. Jordan is off to college and is on her path to discover herself, find new friends and just be a normal college girl. And she also happens to be a damn good skateboarder. On her first day she finds herself to be the center of attention because of her skills and is soon to be admired by some skateboard-stars. Beckett is one of them. He’s a little older than Jordan but finds himself drawn to her either way.
These two circle around each other and don’t really know what to do or what they want.
BRAZEN Rush is the beginning of what I think will be an epic new series by Ali Dean!
I can’t wait to read more about these guys and how everything will turn out for Jordan and Beckett
This was different from her other books, by far. I love the new complications this couple faces and am excited to see how this play out. This was quite enjoyable reading out on the beach, being in a similar setting. I am excitedly awaiting the next book.

3.5 Stars
Brazen Rush was a quick, pleasant read and I enjoyed the skateboarding aspects quite a bit – love the idea of the heroine being great at a sport dominated by males. She has an insta-attraction encounter with the hero, who is already a pro skateboarder. A good portion of the book is spent on the heroine’s inexperience and interpersonal communication issues that seem more suited to a tween experience than someone turning eighteen at college, but it is explained that those kinds of things were not important to her previously. Under normal circumstances I think I have so outgrown that kind of story/heroine that I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it, but with the real problems in the world right now (we are in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis in the US) it was kind of a relief to read about silly, not real problems for a little bit. I am intrigued by a couple of conflicts that came in toward the end of the first part, and since the story just ends it left me eager to read part two to see what happens next.
No one writes the perfect female leads quite like Ali! With that being said, no one leaves us hanging quite like Ali does either! Every time she writes a series, I fall in love all over again.
I’ll start off by saying I know nothing about skateboarding – but Ali draws you into this world so effortlessly.
The Brazen series is about a strong, fiercely independent, shy skateboarder named Jordan. She is young and she is refreshingly innocent as well. Jordan is in a sport dominated by men and I appreciate that her character isn’t dependent on any of the men in this book; she is able to stand on her own when she needs to.
As for the guys in the book! At first I honestly couldn’t decide if I liked Griffin or Beck more! I’m glad it didn’t become a love triangle between best friends. For a minute I was worried that that’s where we were headed but Griffin and Beck’s friendship was strong and they didn’t play that game.
I loved the easy friendship Jordan and Griffin had but my favorite part was watching her and Beck growing closer. He’s all my favorite things in a male lead – easygoing and down to earth regardless of fame and attention, yet protective and a bit alpha over the girl he has feelings for.
There is no “jump straight into love”. It’s a buildup and I love that most about Ali’s books!
Highly recommend!
“I am never disappointed when Ali Dean releases a new book. I loved the characters in this book. The fact that Jordan is strong, confident and can take care of herself. She is not a damsel. I am so excited for the next book!”
Move over Pepper Jones, there’s a new kid in town! Ali Dean has done it again, crafting a NA sports romance that draws you in. I’m not a sports person here in the real world, but I am addicted to sports romance. What I love about Ali’s books is that the FMC is a sports phenom in her own right. This isn’t the story of a girl falling for a guy destined to be a pro athlete. It’s the story of a female future pro athlete finding her match in another pro athlete. I LOVE that dynamic, and Ali writes it so well.
Jordan is a gifted skateboarder attending college in a town known for its skateboarding talent. Sparks fly after a chance meeting with Beckett, a pro skateboarder. The chemistry is undeniable. Unfortunately, so is their age gap, and Beck tries to ignore their connection. I really like these two together, and I can’t wait to see how this relationship develops. Not only is the age gap a hurdle, so are their career aspirations. Great start to another great series.

My heart is pounding and I cant even contain myself. As I just finished book 1 for Jordan and Beck, I have no words that could adequately describe them. Ali Dean is a MASTER at creating a strong independent female lead who doesnt need a man to assure her. Jordan is an amazing skateboarder and is coming into her own. Beck is an amazing hero but he just cant seem to get his head straight with Jordan. The tension is so high the whole book, your heart will be racing. I’m not even sure I have it in me to wait for the rest of the series. Up until now, Pepper Jones has been my everything but Jordan might just take the spot and I dont say that lightly. Take a chance on this book, this series… you wont regret it!
Ali Dean has trapped me again! Why does there have to be so long between books? Her characters are always pulling me in and then there’s the wait for more! Really excited for the next book!
I didn’t grow up as a skateboarding fan, but I sure am one now! I loved reading this book by Ali Dean! The characters are swoon-worthy and the book is entertaining from start to finish. I was captivated by the different type of story line. It isn’t a story line that is completely predictable or used in other books. I love the turn this one took. This book is very well written, and I can’t wait for the next one!
First off, let me just say that even though this may be considered a YA book, I am in my forties, and I thought it was wonderful. Didn’t put it down once, until I was finished. Jordan is this awesome skateboarder who moves to California to go to college. This puts her in the close vicinity of two of her skateboarding idols, Griffin Perry, and Beckett Steele. After a chance encounter with Beck at the skate park, it is very apparent that they are attracted to each other. He just needs to decide if he is going to let their age difference get in the way, or just go for it. Jordan is too special of a girl to wait around forever, and there are plenty of other guys who want to be next to her, so he needs to make a decision before it is too late. Love their chemistry! Love the story line! I’m so excited for the next book in the series to get here!!

If you’re looking for a sports romance, Ali Dean is your author. I’ve never been into skateboarding at all, but after reading Brazen Rush, I’m beginning to like it more and more. Go figure. I shouldn’t be surprised though because Ali Dean’s writing is just that good. She’s truly a master at creating fantastic characters with awesome personalities to match. Not to mention, her storylines are entertaining, memorable and tend to give you all of the feels.
The multiple POVs throughout this book gave me a good insight to how each character was feeling and the emotions they were dealing with. Not only is Jordan a passionate skateboarder, but she’s genuine in just loving the sport itself and not the possible fame that it could bring her. She’s a phenomenal athlete, but humble about her abilities as well. She has more maturity at age eighteen than most adults. Meanwhile, Beck seems like a super-hot, sexy guy any girl could fall in love with. However, he’s conflicted on what to do about his feelings for Jordan. Nevertheless, the chemistry between these two is irresistible and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I love the dynamic between Jordan, Beck and Griffin. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. Yes, there is a cliffhanger, but so what. That just means there’s more of this awesome story ahead. I’m just happy there’s more books to come and honestly I can’t wait to read every single one!!
I have been an Ali Dean fan for a long time. It seems like every series she writes is better than the last. I am only one book into this four book series and I LOVE IT! I absolutely love these characters. Jordan is so awesome. I am constantly surprised by the way Ali Dean can write all these strong and different women characters. Jordan is so different because unlike many of our other favorite sport ladies, she has no idea how great she really is. I can not wait to see her shine as we follow her story. Beck is so lovable already, and I am excited to see how his story unfolds.
This story is just the beginning of Jordan rising to skateboarding fame, her time in college and her time with skateboarding legends Beckett Steele and Griffin Perry. Next we will see where Jordan and Beckett’s story goes! That cliffhanger has me anticipating the next book!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVE this book!!!!
Ali’s books are always top notch but man this book! Jordan may actually be my favorite female character of Ali’s ever. Brazen Rush pushes us head first into the skateboarding world and I’m addicted. I can’t get enough.
Ali Dean is by far the best sports fiction writer out there! As an avid reader of sporting novels, I am constantly blown away by the amount of depth and emotion that is written into each and every character that she writes.
If it wasn’t already clear, I absolutely loved Brazen Rush and think that Jordan may just rival the infamous Pepper Jones as my favorite character from Ali! With a cliffhanger ending that leaves you wanting more, I couldn’t put this book down and cannot wait to see where Jordan and Beck’s story goes next!
If you’re a fan of Ali’s previous books or simply looking for something to read, I highly recommend Brazen Rush!

Omg! I have no words….. Ali this is by far one of your best books and that ending, my heart was racing and it gave me chills!! I’ve read every book that you’ve released and they get better and better! Your writing is completely addicting!
Loved the dynamics you went with in this book, with the characters and the multiple POVs. I like being about to see into each characters head while getting to know them.
Jordan is passionate about skateboarding. She is a freshman in college in California but she plans to make the best of it skate boarding with the best people in the country. But when she meets Becket Steele, one of her idols, she feels an instant connection, can they have a chance when their worlds are so different?

Everything I have read by Ali Dean has been amazing. Brazen Rush is no different.
Not surprisingly, this is a sports romance. I like that it revolves around skateboard. I’ve never read a skateboarding romance and I only ever mainly see basketball, football, and baseball romances. So this was a nice change.
I loved Jordan’s character. I love that she’s not afraid to be herself and that she doesn’t let any one peer pressure her into doing what she doesn’t want to. I also liked that she not so in your face but also not really shy either.
Anyone else kind of want this to be RH? I mean Beck, Griffin, and Taylor….maybe even Davies….hello hotness!
Overall, I really enjoyed Brazen Rush and I can’t wait for Brazen Steele!
Ali Dean just “landed the bolts” with this book. It’s her best yet. Dean has magnified her potential. Brazen has skated its way into my heart. Jordan is a strong-willed, shy girl, who wants to keep her skateboarding close to her heart. Skateboarding is an escape for her and she doesn’t want it to be tainted by critiques, competitions, and social media. Beck is a celebrity in the skating world. He becomes enamored with Jordan and her skating skills. The sparks between them could light up a city. I was hooked from the first page. This sports romance will leave you enamored with the characters and cursing Dean’s name with the cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the rest of this series. It’s going to be gnar-gnar!
I’m leaving a review of my honest opinion after receiving a free copy
If you love a good sports book you will definitely love this book by Ali Dean. Brazen Rush is the first book in a four part series and this book is a great way to start this series off. If you have read anything by Ali Dean before you will love this book. Jordan Slattery is a skateboarding phenom and no one has heard of her. When she starts college in California heads start to turn each time she hits the skate parks and she is trying here hardest to avoid the attention. She likes to go to the skate park before anyone else gets there and that backfires when Beckett Steele (skateboarding world champion) shows up at the same park and also has the same plan to avoid the crowds. There is a little bit of an age cap between these two when he discovers that she’s only seventeen to his twenty-five. Beckett’s best friend discovers Jordan on his own and wants to offer her the opportunity of a lifetime, Jordan finds herself considering a future that she never imagined for herself. Jordan never wanted to get pulled into the world of sponsorships, competitions, and social media frenzy. But can she sacrifice her obscurity if it means having Beckett Steele in her life? This was a great book and I can’t wait to see what happens with Jordan, Beckett and there group of friends.
