Add one hidden past. A dash of a pretend role. A shot of steamy chemistry. Put it in a shaker, then pour for one exotic cocktail on the rocks!Wesley Templeton was determined to not follow in his namesake’s path as a Cardiac Surgeon. Was he smart enough for it? Of course, he was a genius after all. Did he have the time and patience to master the craft? Absolutely. Was he going to let his … his controlling grandfather hold his trust fund over his head until he achieved what was expected of him? Hell no!
Harper Fairchild was the redheaded stepchild. Literally. Smart, nerdy, picked on, and often thought of as an outcast. Her social life was a dismal as her family relationships, so she left when she could and made a new life somewhere else. Unfortunately she found it was hard to break the mold of what cast her as undesirable. Until she loses a bet with a coworker and has to be made-over for a blind date. When that turns into another disaster she escapes to a bar to nurse her emotional wounds, striking up a conversation with the sexy bartender and wondering if she could keep up the ruse of the confident sexy chick she was pretending to be.

I enjoyed this story, however I felt like Wes’s secret was dragged out to long and was a bit rushed at the end.
But the slow burn romance was a good read.
I love reading books about nerdy quiet introverted couples. And this was a good one.
Harper was always put down and criticized by her mother and step sisters, so it took a lot for her to step out of her conform zone. And when she did she liked the person she was. Confident, in charge and sexy
And thats the person Wes Templeton got to know.
Wes also has some secrets of his own. And trusting other people with h it was hard for him. So when he met Harper he kept his secret, but the more he got to know her and spent time with her, the more he wanted to trust her. But how will she feel about him when she finds out who he really is and that he kept it from her.
I enjoyed this story. As I said I felt the ending was a bit too rushed and some parts were dragged abit a bit too much. But other than that, the characters were great, the storyline was sweet and romantic
Secrets and makeovers make this a very fun read. Wes and Harper are hiding from the world and even themselves. When they find themselves fighting for each other, they have to let their guard down and show the other who they are. This is fun and sexy and a little drawn out but enjoyable.
Wes and Harper, two people struggling to be seen for them selves and what they can offer from the inside not a title, looks or wealth. So when Harper goes on a blind date, that is a complete failure, she runs to drown her sorrows in a drink. For Wes chatting with a woman for hours, who is beautiful and shy and utterly unaware of her beauty, it is refreshing. Both of theses people have secrets and the authors ability to have her characters keep those secrets through the book shows how deeply they wished to be loved and accepted for who themselves with out the trapping of society.
This book is another great addition to the Cocky Hero world.
Wes and Harper are both shy yet reserved characters. Both incredibly intelligent. They meet by chance when Harper is stuck on a blind date gone wrong. There’s some instant chemistry between these two characters, but it is very slow-building to get to the happily ever after.
I struggled a little reading this book, as I’m used to reading in 1st person, whereas this book was written in 3rd, so I felt a little disjointed in trying to relate to the characters and really experience their emotions for myself.
However, it was still a good book for the Cocky World series

This book was way more than I thought it would be. It had a true depth to its characters and what they feel and go through. It was truly a relationship that had slow burn and realness to it from the beginning.
When Harper and Wes meet it is not what either expect and it builds up gradually. That was the key for this story was the slow burn of feelings and not an insta love. They have real issues they deal with and that resonate with us the readers.
The friends are a part of the story but not in a way that is intrusive or as a distraction. I enjoyed the fact that the story truly was Harper and Wes’s!
As we head into the world of Stuck Up Suit with Brainy Bartender it will be just as smooth with a bit of heat as a glass of whiskey. Wes and Harper are two people who meet across the bar both hiding some of the world from the real people they are. This entertaining story will take you on a journey of love, confrontations and secrets. It is packed with drama, witty moments and a heartwarming romance.
