When a freak accident endows a terminally ill man with extraordinary mental abilities, he’ll spend his last days fighting to rescue a woman and her autistic child, unwittingly becoming the only hope against a global terrorist–or the fanatic’s ultimate weapon. Heralded by Publishers Weekly as “a terrifically entertaining thriller” and “inventive and compelling,” this first book in Richard Bard’s … in Richard Bard’s Brainrush series went on to earn The Wall Street Journal’s #1 Action/Adventure slot in their Dec 2011 Guide to Self-Published Big Sellers list.
“OMG–this was the best suspense-filled novel I’ve read in years!” 5-Stars by Priscilla
When terminally-ill Jake Bronson emerges from an MRI with extraordinary cognitive powers, everyone wants a piece of his talent…including Luciano Battista. Posing as a pioneering scientist, the terrorist leader has been conducting cerebral-implant experiments in a quest to create the ultimate weapon against America, and Jake’s altered brain may be the key to his success. But Jake refuses to play the pawn in an unholy war, and when an innocent woman and autistic child are taken hostage to force his cooperation, he embarks on a jihad of his own. Jake is thrust into a deadly chase that leads from the canals of Venice through Monte Carlo and finally to an ancient cavern in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan–where Jake discovers his newfound talents carry a hidden price that threatens the entire human race.

All three of the books in this series I have read are entertaining, timely, and quite the page turners.
Love this whole series. They’re page turners.
I felt like I was in the midst of a story that was part Indiana Jones and part Dirk Pitt, and I couldn’t put it down! Whenever an impossible situation presented itself, there was an unexpected way out, which kept me on the edge of my seat. The writing style is very very good, and I don’t easily compliment a writer’s style unless it’s well above average. I was disappointed when the book finished, so I continued to read the first couple chapters of the next book (which were included at the end of my e-book), and I’m already hooked on Book #2 and will have to add it to my library soon.
Could not put it down.
Excellent!
Similar in style to a Clive Cussler action style novel. Good characters with improbable plot, but very entertaining that will keep you interested.
This book held me spell bound!!, a real page turner, I could not put it down!! loved it.
Loved it!
This book was riveting. It was believable with great characters and was very exciting. Hard to put it down.
This book was great! Read it in 2 days. Will definitely read the sequel!!
I started with book one & now on book four. It keeps a person wondering what’s going to happen next. I love it!
Downloaded this book onto my iBooks. Finally started to read last night. Had to stay up to finish. Action packed, a little too much technical info but not hard to understand. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to start the next one in the series.
Good story line with lots of action!
Fast paced!
I really enjoyed reading this book. I flipped through the pages as quickly as I could, and I finished it with a determination to read more books by Richard Bard.
Full of excitement, this book carries you through the unbelievable in a way that makes it possible. The characters are lifelike and lovable with their enemies truly despicable.
I loved this book…UNTIL the ending – which was a cliff-hanger for book #2. I hate cliffhangers!
What A Rush. This was a very good book, even if I did have a few quibbles with it as an Autistic. The action is among the craziest I’ve seen in novel form, in all the best ways. And the pacing of the abilities and how they are discovered is slow enough to seem “plausible” and yet quick enough to keep the action going well. Excellent work, looking forward to the rest of the series.
I loved this book. It was very different and unique. It was full of excitement and intrigue. It left me always wondering how they were going to escape the situation they were in. It has great characters. I loved how the author writes the story and explains the way the characters are feeling. I love the special powers the main character has. I am glad that I read this book and I want to read more from this author.
The first 3 books in the series we’re pretty good, but by book 4 it is starting to get repetitive.
