When a freak accident endows a terminally ill man with extraordinary mental abilities, he’ll spend his last days fighting to rescue a woman and her autistic child, unwittingly becoming the only hope against a global terrorist–or the fanatic’s ultimate weapon. Heralded by Publishers Weekly as “a terrifically entertaining thriller” and “inventive and compelling,” this first book in Richard Bard’s … in Richard Bard’s Brainrush series went on to earn The Wall Street Journal’s #1 Action/Adventure slot in their Dec 2011 Guide to Self-Published Big Sellers list.
“OMG–this was the best suspense-filled novel I’ve read in years!” 5-Stars by Priscilla
When terminally-ill Jake Bronson emerges from an MRI with extraordinary cognitive powers, everyone wants a piece of his talent…including Luciano Battista. Posing as a pioneering scientist, the terrorist leader has been conducting cerebral-implant experiments in a quest to create the ultimate weapon against America, and Jake’s altered brain may be the key to his success. But Jake refuses to play the pawn in an unholy war, and when an innocent woman and autistic child are taken hostage to force his cooperation, he embarks on a jihad of his own. Jake is thrust into a deadly chase that leads from the canals of Venice through Monte Carlo and finally to an ancient cavern in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan–where Jake discovers his newfound talents carry a hidden price that threatens the entire human race.

Action-Adventure isn’t my usual read, but I loved this book. The premise is deftly handled (I won’t give it away but it’s really good) and I bought into it from page one. From that point on it was a snowball of action, adventure, love and intrigue. What sets Brainrush apart from other stories in this genre is that the author never forgets that he is writing about people, not just situations. The cast of characters are smart, courageous and believable. Bard’s portrayal of women is particularly impressive. There are no two-dimensional, window-dressing superwomen in these pages. Bottom line, there is something for everyone in this book: action, international intrigue, romance, travel, friendship. Luckily, when you’re finished there are plenty more books in the Brainrush series. With over 1300 five star reviews, I’m not alone in loving this book. The cherry on top? This one is free for ereaders.
Will continue following this author and the series

I thought it was an exciting book
Good action story. Very entertaining.
Page turner couldn’t put it down
Very well done, kept my interest till the end
Original idea. Made me interested in the character and what would happen next. Interesting concept wonder where it will go from here.
I couldn’t put it down. Interesting characters, fast paced, action adventure read.
An enjoyable action adventure with an interesting premise, which would keep me out of MRI machines in earthquake-prone locales!! The writing was a bit choppy at first, but developed nicely as the novel progressed. I will definitely have to continue the series!
Good read
A very enjoyable creative new take on the action genre. Keeps you wanting more to read.
I’m trying to read it but everytime I close it I have a hard time bringing it back to continue. How do I go about it?
A very strange twist at the end!
Looking forward to reading the next book.
It was so good that I am going to read the sequels.
I like all his books and read them as fast as they release them. Try one or all of them you will not be disappointed.
Action from the first page to the last. Love that his descriptions are short and sweet- just enough to let you form a picture in your mind and not so mush that he tells you every item in a room. or every little detail of a character. I really like his writing style. I am currently reading the whole Brainrush series. Did i mention that they are hard to put down.
Great book, will probably buy the series..
