Those were the exact words of my social worker when she dropped me in my newest hellhole, a place for “troubled teens”.
I didn’t listen, and now I’m on their radar.
They expect me to play along in their games of hierarchy, to fall in line in the social order they’ve deemed me fit.
Too bad for them, I don’t follow rules.
Too bad for me, they’re determined to make sure I do.
Inconceivably attractive and treated like kings…these are the boys of Brayshaw High.
And I’m the girl who got in their way.

This is book ONE in a THREE book series.more
I’m completely in love with this book. I loved everything about it: the characters, the chemistry. I need more please.
“Fuck my mom, fuck this place, and fuck them. Most of all, fuck this life I was cursed into.”
Wow!!! This book definitely took me by surprise. It is my first read by Meagan Brandy. Raven is tough, strong and bows down to no one. She comes from a horrible a situation and arrives at a new school. Before she knows what is happening she crosses The Boys of Brayshaw. Captain, Royce and Maddoc all brought something different to the table and I loved all three of them. I’m going to need the second book ASAP!!!
“These boys, they think I’ll follow their rules. They’re wrong.”
I…don’t even know where to start this review. I just finished BOBH and I’m dying a slow death knowing I have a few months to wait for the next book. Meagan Brandy has killed me in the best possible way. These boys and their girl have started the most epic journey together. They each have their own demons and troubled pasts and watching them find their way is heartbreaking and emotional and then sometimes so achingly sweet I can’t stand the suspense. This story is a fast, wild ride that constantly keeps the reader guessing. I have no idea how it’s all going to play out and the wait is going to seem endless! Congratulations Meagan Brandy on a phenomenal book!
Where do I begin. This is the first book I have ever formed a girl crush before a guy crush. From page one I instantly connected to Raven. Boys of Brayshaw had me hooked from the first page. If you are looking for insta love you won’t find it here. This book is a perfectly timed slow burning romance and is the definition of foreplay. The chemistry and the sexual tension between Maddoc and Rae will make you hot and bothered. This is enemies to lovers at its finest! Meagan did such an amazing job portraying these characters and their story. I felt so many emotions reading this book I can’t pinpoint a certain one at a certain part. It’s an overwhelming feeling of pure emotion! And don’t get me started on the other characters! Royce and Captain! Holy hotness let me tell you. Y’all will love them just as much as you love Maddoc! That ending tho. Meagan, you are one amazingly gifted writer! I cannot wait to see what else you have in store for these guys! I’m not gonna spoil anything but be prepared. You’re in for a wild ride with these boys! I hope you’re holding on tight!
Three hot broody high school guys who think they rule the world and one kick ass heroine who holds them hostage by her selflessness.
I absolutely loved it.
Meagan did such an amazing job with this book. She had me turning every page wondering what was going to happen next. And maybe had me begging her to give me what I wanted.
You just can’t stop reading. You can’t stop falling in love with these boys who even though they fight hard, they are filled with love and passion.
I adored every second of this book and I can’t wait to see what Meagan comes up with next.
What the HELL was that???? How do you go and just end a book that way. NO, no, no, no I need more RIGHT NOW!!!! How do you expect me to just wait to find out what happens next?? As people were reading ARCs and posting their reviews my excitement to read this book grew like a snowball barreling down a mountain. By the time it showed up on my kindle I couldn’t contain myself, so I locked myself away from the world so I could see why friendships were being torn apart over book boyfriends.
When I first met the Boys are Brayshaw I realized these guys were real a$$holes and needed to be cut down at the knees. Raven was just the girl to do that, consequences be damned. Meagan did such a great job writing about the BS of rich entitled high schoolers it made me feel as if I was right there along with the characters. The way in which the friendships were cultivated was organic and honest.
Raven is a tough, independent, stand on her own 2 feet kind of girl. With all that she has been through she had to learn how to take care of herself. A weaker girl would never have survived in her world. She was forced to grow up knowing that she can only rely on herself and to trust no one.
Maddoc, Royce and Captain are the kings of Brayshaw high and rule over everyone. What happens when one doesn’t care to be ruled?? You need to read this to find out!!!
“Family runs deeper than blood.”
In this first installment of “Brayshaw” series, that quote couldn’t be more fitting.
Maddoc, Royce and Captain are brothers by choice and loyal no matter what. They protect what is there’s and demand respect and loyalty from others.
Raven Carver carves her own path in life. She’s fiercely independent. Refuses to bend to anyone. She protects and only depends on herself. These are resources her life demands, her only means of survival. Then she joins Brayshaw High and tests the finely constructed hierarchy there and in doing so, attracts the attention of the three boys in charge. These boys demand her respect and loyalty and expect her to step into line with all the others who follow them. They attempt to command her every move, but of course she “bucks the system” and refuses to wield. So that of course piques their interest…her “don’t give a f*ck who you are” attitude makes her a new kind of target. “This is their world, and it seems I’m in the middle of it.” She challenges them at every turn, but ultimately ends up showing them something what they’re missing in their power group and she also finds something she’s missing in life as well. “Someone for Captain to care for, someone for Royce to worry about, someone for Maddoc to protect.” They unknowingly find a family within each other. But Raven continues to have walls up guarding herself, so that she doesn’t get too close. She wants zero attachments, so that she can walk away one day. She refuses to give in completely because she knows eventually this will all end. And the guys don’t know if they can truly trust her, so they too have reservations. But can they trust each other in the end?
I feel like BoBH was a good foundation book for this series, it definitely set up the rest of the series. I am MOST DEFINITELY interested in Royce and Captian’s stories (which I’m presuming we’ll get because Meagan was laying down major hints for Cap’s book. happy dance). And I LOVED Royce’s character, he was the humorous element that I would’ve been missing if he wasn’t in this book. There was plenty of high school type drama (which I am all about) and angst (BIG PLUS, LOVE me some angst) that kept me reading. The mystery in the background also kept me coming back for more.
I will say I struggled with the pace at times. The first 50% seemed to move at a snail’s pace for me and seemed a bit drug out, with some repetitiveness. Because of this, some of the story execution was lacking at times. I think some of it maybe could’ve been cut and the story would’ve had more of an impact earlier on for me. And then Raven’s character at times was hard for me to read. Idk if it was just me and my lack of “ghetto talk”, but I found myself confused at times with Raven’s dialogue (verbal and inner). I found myself re-reading parts to try to better understand what she was saying/meaning, which became frustrating at times. But I stuck it out because like I said, the seed of intrigue was planted and I wanted to know more about these characters and how they ended up where they were in life and I was curious to see what other drama/plot twists would arise.
With all that being said, I did push through and I really enjoyed the last 50% of this book. It seemed like the pieces were falling into place to build a great plot. I look forward to seeing how book 2 plays out. I’m also really anxious to see if we get books for Royce and Captain or if book 2 will continue on with Maddoc’s and Raven’s story…I guess we’ll find out.
3 stars
I knew before I even started reading Boys of Brayshaw High that I was in for an angsty as f**k story, and it definitely lived up to that moniker and then some. AND that ending just about killed me, which means that Meagan Brandy needs to write all the words for Trouble at Brayshaw so I can deal with the fallout of another one of Rae’s reckless acts, even if she has the best of intentions in doing so.
I can wholeheartedly say that I want to be a Bray girl, but my desire to be a part of their group doesn’t stem from me wanting to get down on my knees for these three kings of Brayshaw High or to be one of their groupies who they use and and then send on their way…what makes me want to be a member of their inner circle is what Brandy allows her readers to understand and realize about Maddoc, Captain, and Royce as the layers of their personalities are revealed and the masks they wear don’t hide who they truly are at their core.
Did their callus behavior and need for control make me want to punch them in the nuts…absolutely, but the code these three guys live by seems to be necessary and while I don’t completely understand why it has to be this way or why they can’t show a single ounce of weakness, there’s something in the background or in their past that is bigger than them, forcing them to always be a step ahead of their enemies and treat the peasants around them as inferior subjects, allowing no one to ever get too close to them or the secrets they keep….until her….
When Raven Carver enters the elitist world of Brayshaw, she refuses to be just another one of the kings’ minions…she refuses to cower to the name calling or react like they want her to…she’s spent her entire life feeling like an outsider…living with the fact that everyone sees her as dirty, used, and worthless – a trailer trash whore who opens her legs for anyone.
But as readers understand going into the story, Rae is so much more than how other people see her, and soon, Maddoc, Captain and Royce begin to look beyond Rae’s armor and acknowledge that she is not what everyone thinks she is; in fact, she’s a bit of a wildcard and someone they need to figure out because Rae keeps doing the unexpected, proving herself as someone who actually deserves to be their equal and not their inferior, but what that means for the rest of the Brayshaw student body as well as Brayshaw’s rivals, Graven Prep, still remains in a state of limbo, ensuring that Raven will always question her place, never truly trust anyone, and react without thinking of the consequences because until she sees herself as those who matter see her, she’ll always be more apt to sabotage herself and keep everyone at a distance instead of acknowledging that her place just might be outside the gutter and as far away from her whore of a mother as possible.
It was so easy for me to get sucked into Meagan Brandy’s elitist Brayshaw world. The antics of these high school kids definitely fit how everything’s been laid out around them, and while their roles are a bit stereotypical, there are small details about each of the main characters that make them unique in their own right. I will admit that Rae frustrated the heck out of me, at times, due to all the ways she tries to sabotage herself and while I understand that everything she does is to protect herself and because she doesn’t feel worthy to be a true member of the boys’ inner circle, there has to be other ways to handle things and I’m hoping that when book two releases that a big part of the book focuses on Rae figuring out her shit and realizing just how worthy she is.
4.5 Poison Apples
OMG this book was seriously amazing!! It was even better than what I was thinking it was going to be and it had high expectations to begin with so it went above and beyond that!! This book had so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming it literally had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. From the moment I started reading it I literally COULDN’T put it down!! I was sucked into it. Meagan I am giving you the crown for the Cliffy Queen because girl I definetly didn’t see that one coming and was just OMG did that seriously just happen!!! I cannot cannot wait for book 2 in this series!!
The Boys of Brayshaw High have made me a #Braygirl!
Rae is wise beyond her years and a very strong female character. Her life with her mom and in the foster care system have made her this way. She’s a new girl at Brayshaw High and makes her intriguing to the boys.
Specifically to the boys that rule the school, which includes not only the students but also the teachers and administration! Who are these boys, and how does Rae fit in with them? We learn little bits and pieces of these characters throughout the story, which set a good foundation for the remainder of the series.
Each of the boys cares for Rae in their own way, but it’s Maddoc that takes a romantic interest in her. I’m hoping to see more of this in the next book, as well as romantic relationships for Captain and Royce as well.
And the cliffhanger ending has me anxiously waiting for the next book this spring!
5unbelievable .
This is the first work I have every picked up by this author but it will not be the last .. This book took me on a rollercoaster ride I will not soon forget. Raven is a badass who has had a horrible start in life . She lets no one boss her ever and she never plans too . The boys of Brayshaw are used to being in charge , they are the bosses , but what happens when little miss Raven comes In and changes everything . She doesn’t back down , and has no plans too. While she may think Maddox, Captain and Royce are assholes she likes that they always have a purpose . That they have each other’s back . She slowly works her way in under their skin and becomes one of them . But can they all trust each other . What happens when it is all threaten will the Graven guys come out on top . Will Raven sacrifice everything she never thought she wanted to keep people safe . What will happen . A big theme in this book is “Blood Runs deeper than Family “ remember that as you read . I think this saying on a knife of Ravens is going to come to mean a lot
I literally finished this book in a couple hours, I could not put it down. I was so intrigued by everyone’s story (not just the main characters) . The cliffhanger at the end has me a little on edge . I want to smack the shit out of some people . I am gonna drive myself insane until the next book come outs thinking about this . However I love every second of it . Way to go Meagan .
I’m not really someone who looks at a cover and data yes I need that book however thus one i did. Once I started reading i couldn’t put it down, I needed to know more about the story and the characters.
It’s been a while since I read a book with a young woman with such a strong personality. Raven/Rae is my new girly crush. She’s a strong independent free spirited young woman . You don’t like her so what, think you’ll get the better of her think again. I loved her attitude, her resilience and her street smarts.
Then we have the Brayshaw Boys and trust me you’ll have a hard time choosing between them.
This is only book one however you can tell it’s multi layered. I can tell there is so much more to come, more secrets more drama more of my sexy men.
#Braygirl
“For real, you’re like biker princess or rock goddess, wrapped in a fat ass, shiny Do Not Touch tape that makes everyone wanna touch it more. You’re a little hood but still a Cali girl. They want to be you, imitate you, but they don’t know how.”
I’m a new Meagan Brandy reader, but let me tell you I’m now a dedicated MB reader. This story wasn’t one I was planning to read, but after several suggestions and a several good reviews of previous works, I dove in.
Raven seems unreasonably ridiculous, at first, if you don’t understand what it feels like to be unwanted and not taken care of. Raven is extra hard and has about 15 extra walls up, so she is definitely not the “normal” girl. When she gets moved to a brand new community, her attitude stays the same — distant and cautious. But it’s when she gets involved with the Bray Boys that thing begin to shift.
The Bray Boys run their school. It’s difficult to tell exactly why they seem to be the leaders and how they’re truly connected to the power they possess. As the story progresses, we find out more about each of them, but several parts of their story are still in the dark. These boys, though, are something special. I didn’t always agree with their tactics or their attitude, but they grow on you.
My favorite part of this story was all of the secrets, behind the scenes, twists and turns, and overall intrigue. There is so much to this story that makes it MORE than anticipated. Some people might look at the ages of the characters and think this is going to be an immature story, but it’s far from that. I couldn’t believe the complexity behind the characters, the plot, and the overall storyline.
Definitely a must read and I am counting down the days until book #2.
I have so much love for this book and these A-MAZ-ING characters!! Maddoc, Royce and Captain…..the Brayshaw boys. They are alpha a$$holes and seem like royalty with the way they control much of what goes on at the high school. Enter Raven. She is this strong, independent and feisty girl with a rough upbringing. She bows to no one and soon falls under the protection of the Brays. Days later and I am still feeling all of the feels from this book. I did not want it to end!!!
I saw this book advertised and decided to pick it up on a whim. I have never read this author before, don’t normally buy from new authors that are not recommend to me, and hardly ever pay full price for anything new (been burned too many times); but this book drew me in and I decided to take a chance. Right from the first chapter I was absorbed into this amazing world with such detail and complex characters. I could not put it down and only wanted more and more.
Normally when I read a book I find myself wanting the passion or romantic connection to happen as fast as possible. I want that heat and passion, that instant love. In this book, however; I kept hoping it would take its time as the push and pull was so very hot and well written that I could read about them forever.
I loved everything about this book and cannot wait for book two, three, four or how many ever will come. I am so excited to discover this world and this amazing author! If you are on the fence, take a chance like me and get this awsome book!!
This was more than the school bullies ganging up on the new girl. Rea is a bad girl with a golden heart. For the most part she just trying to survive until she can age out of the system. Until she moved to a group home that pretty much changes her life.
Really excited about this book, and can’t wait to grab the
“The fact of the matter is, in the end, the only way to walk away…is to make sure there’s nothing you’re reluctant to leave behind.”
I knew that bit of forshadowing was going to break my heart but being the masochist reader I am, I read on. Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy was incredible. From the get go I was so invested in these characters and fell so hard for this book. Rae is such a complicated heroine. She’s feisty, tough as steel, and hardened by circumstances. She’s beautifully broken with a deep and buried vulnerability. Perpetually a loner by design, no one really sees her, but the box they put her into. That is until she enrolls in Brayshaw High. The formidable trio that rules the school Maddoc, Royce, and Captain -these boys see her, and the last thing Rae wants is to be seen or ruled. She lives life better from the shadows, the hell with order. After living a life beyond her control, Rae asserts the only control she can in life – and you know what they say about rules. When it comes to Rae, consider them broken. Who’s will is stronger? The unwavering reigning kings or the brokenly unbreakable newcomer? Read Boys of Brayshaw High today to find out!
I loved every hot minute of this book. Read it, and immerse yourself into its pages. Rae and the boys of brayshaw are about to steal your heart, and honey, you won’t want it back.
“There is something about her that screams at me, something deep inside me, only I have no idea what. She’s almost a mystery, one I need to unravel…with my teeth. Like I said, she’s trouble. Problem is, I like the taste of trouble.”
I legit have the biggest girl crush on Rae…not even kidding. She was fierce, snarky, tough as nails, yet vulnerable enough to make me unable to put this one down. The boys…sigh, those boys creeped in my heart and took their places, each one cementing my addiction in their own way. The amount of things that went down in this book left me reeling, feeling as though I could binge the entire series in one sitting, heart bursting when I got to the end and kept trying to flip a page for MORE!! These are my favorite kinds of books, and these characters did not disappoint!
“His green eyes bore into mine as waves of strength flow from him, fighting for a way inside me.”
HAWT…I got so tangled up, I couldn’t see straight, sitting in my reading chair DEVOURING the mystery surrounding the town, their pasts, and heart beating so fast trying to figure out where the Author may take it, and knowing that I probably won’t get it right, and look forward to jaw dropping events I’m sure are to come in the next books!! The shift in the relationship between all 4 characters left me swooning, hoping that skeletons would not jump out and ruin it….I’ll let you find out for yourself, but Gaaaaaahhhhhh, the end had me cursing up a storm!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review and I absolutely cannot wait for more Brayshaw!!
“He digs in deep and forces you to face yourself, demands strength and craves fearlessness. Pretty sure he craves me. The possibility has my body tingling.”

This book is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. I’m even going to say that it might be the best book this year. At least until book 2 comes out. OMG there are just no words for how amazing this book is. It’s angsty. It’s awesome. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.
I’m writing this review at 5:49 am. Having just plowed through this beast in one sitting.
I’ll be grumpy, swollen and dark eyed tomorrow. And there’s a little sprite in the form of a dark haired beauty in California that will be laughing all the way to bank.
This is a story of epic proportions. There are many parts and pieces and it’s woven together so tightly that it’ll seem to scroll by like a picture show.
The exploits of Raven, Maddoc, Royce and Captain will have you glued to the pages from the first moment. I cannot remember the last time I highlighted so many passages, pages, full chapters almost!
There’s enough mystery surrounding the Boys of Brayshaw High to fill a season of Murder She Wrote. Add in the unexpected brazenness of the most epically kick female character in all of Meagan’s books and you’ve got the perfect excuse for an all night read.
There are laughs (thanks Royce), tender moments that you’ll never see coming, action packed scenes that will make your jaw drop and tension that will have you smacking your head against a hard surface.
I’ve read all of Meagan’s books. I’ve enjoyed and liked, even loved her characters. These four just skyrocketed past my faves and even though my heart will always love Parker’s arm veins. The Boys of Brayshaw and their girl will rule the roost from this moment ….. until Trick.
Bravo Meagan. Bra-Vo
