A sweet ending to the series. I just didn’t like this couple much. He seemed more interested and invested in the relationship then she did.
I have to admit to falling in love with the cover of this book. It made me want to break out my Lady Antebellum CDs or even my Sugarland CDs. (And I’m not even a big country girl).
This is my first book by Andrea Johnston. I have to like her, cos we share a first name. Really, I do.
Now I have to say, I’ve not been having good luck with romance novels lately. Maybe its because I’m hitting that age where I can no longer identify with any of the heroines.
I really got into the book. I love the older woman younger guy scenario, because that doesn’t happen often enough in books that I’ve read. Addy and Landon are a great couple. They feel “real.”
That’s the big beef I have with a lot of romances, too much fairy tale, and not enough real life. There are no billionaires here and no couture gowns.
Its the characters that make this book so wonderful for me. Addy could be my bff. Landon, though was perfect. I’ve never really gotten on the bandwagon of “book boyfriends,” but Landon is definitely my book boyfriend. He was everything that I could possibly want in a guy, if I could find a young, hot guy.
Its stories like this, that make me believe that love can happen and be wonderful.
I’m glad I gave Andrea Johnston a try, and I’m going to be looking for her other books.
It’s hard to imagine that the Country Road guys keep getting better, but Oh they do! Landon is the absolute sweetest! He captures your heart from the very beginning. I really enjoyed his story with Addison. While I really liked Addison, she equally frustrated me. I understand her reservations with the age difference, but you would’ve thought she was in her 50’s and not 38! I hope to see more of this couple in Taylor’s story because I need more! I need a HEA to their HEA!

Bourbon & Bonfires is the fourth book in Andrea Johnston’s Country Road series but, for me, it worked perfectly as a standalone novel by new-to-me author, Andrea Johnson. I adored everything about it: the romance, the characters, the plot, the setting, and the writing. The writing was so wonderful and well developed that it made reading easy. Yay, I found me a new one-click author. I can’t wait to catch up on the rest of books and couples in this series and other Andrea’s books.
The synopsis and cover caught my attention. I’m a big fan of single parent trope, second chance and small town romance. This book is everything I love about contemporary romance: about finding love again, not letting your past define you and stop you from being happy and taking chances/risks. I loved that Andrea has written romance with a reverse age gap. I truly connected with the story and characters. This book showed me that Andrea is a great storyteller. Absolutely adored Landon and Addy.
Addy is a divorced, single mom. She’s trying to find her footing again and to raise an angry teenage boy. So she moves to a small town where her brother Taylor lives for his support. After moving the things with her son Mason are starting to improve and Addison is also changes for the better: she seems happier, she starts working and making friends. Landon and Addy meet again and after New Year’s kiss things change for them.
Landon is bachelor of the Country Roads. Watching his friends falling in love and settle down left him wanting that too, to find that special someone. The he sees Addy and he can’t stop thinking about her. He wants her to give him a chance. Landon is strong, handsome and down to earth guy.
The connection between Landon and Addy was incredible. I loved that he didn’t care about their age gape/difference, because everybody deserve love no matter what age they are. Landon is such a sweet, loving and caring person. He is so persistent and didn’t give up on Addy no matter how many times she pushed him away. Loved the way he was going to convince her to take a chance on him. He wasn’t pushy but so patient and attentive. Landon was slowly winning her over. The chemistry, sparks and need were present and I could feel that or the struggle while reading it. I loved how supportive and reassuring he was with Addison. They simply fit and match.
I loved friendships between Landon and his friends. Also he was so patient with Mason and I loved their interaction and connection. Landon’s family was pretty amazing too: mama Montgomery was great.
The reading flowed and it captures you from the start. It was a heartwarming, heartfelt, quick, enjoyable, sweet, realistic love story. I loved that there was no major drama. Now I really want Taylor’s story. Such a wonderful book and I recommend it.
I’ve read The Break Series by Andrea and absolutely loved them, no surprise that I would love this one. It’s a story about a true love, a love that most people have on a everyday basis with their s/o, it’s a story about everyday life.
Mason, oh boy does she ever do him justice, After getting in trouble again his mother Addison and him move to be closer to his Uncle Taylor, hoping Taylor would be a better role model to Mason compare to his not their father.
Addy then starts to get to know Landon (the last of the country boys to finally settle down),she’s hesitate at the start to let him in and get to know him she’s looking out for Mason who has been hurt before and she doesn’t want that to happen again, but once the walls start coming down and these two bond Landon is more than ready to have his happily ever after with Addy. Will a few obstacles thrown their way change the outcome? Will they have their happily ever after, I guess you’re going to have to read it to find out.
It’s not a book that you will won’t to miss, and it’s easy a book that your not going to want to put down either so prepare for an all-nighter, and love the story about Addison and Landon
I have loved every book in this series. Seems I love each one more than the last. This is no exception.
Addy – a divorced mom trying to work and raise her teenage son with basically no help from the ma who fathered him. There are some issues and she moves to be near her brother, Taylor, for support (yep, THAT Taylor!)
Landon – the lone Bachelor friend of the Country Roads bro-hood.
We had already seen some sparks in a previous book, but the bonfire between them really ignites!
There are some issues, some baggage & a few misunderstandings along the way, but this is a story you won’t want to miss.
Gotta give some props to Mama Montgomery for adding some humor to the story. And to the author for writing Mason as a realistic teenage boy. He might be my favorite character!
Now give me Taylor’s story already!!
The story of Landon and Addison brings us back to the basics of contemporary romance. This story is everything that I love about contemporary romance, it’s everything I love about love. It’s the small things that mean the very most – the support for one another, the encouragement, the Netflix on the couch. It’s all so real, and exactly how my marriage is on a daily basis. I saw myself in Addison and my husband in Landon. It was beautiful.
Don’t get me wrong – I love a good sexy hot com or a secret baby story, just as much as the next reader. You won’t find any of that here. This book is real life. It’s a place where insecurity is prevalent and parenting is formative. It’s a book where real life hits just as hard as it does for us real humans, and that makes it so much more fantastic to read and really fall for this couple.
I fell for Landon so hard during this story; you kind of see him mature and grow up from the beginning to the end with the responsibilities he takes on. He’s a true man, in the most pure sense of the word. He’s strong, handsome, and has his head on straight. But he’s also got a heart the size of Texas, and has no qualms falling for the right woman; no matter the circumstances of her life.
Addison was so easy to relate to – her insecurities play a huge part in her relationship with Landon, for good reason. It was so humbling to see those issues come though, and how Landon dealt with them was just awe inspiring. Every man should want to be a Landon.
This book was the best way to end this series. Landon is the last country road guy to find his happily ever after, and I think he’s hooked a good one. I am so sad that it’s over, but look forward to what the author has in store for us in the future! Make sure to read the authors note at the end when you’re done reading!
Another wonderful Country Road Novel. I love these people. In the fictional world they are completely my friends. This is a sweet story about taking chances. About not letting your past dictate your future. About asking for help from the people who love you. About not letting age define you! Loved Addison and Landon. This book will forever hold a very special place in my heart. ~ Stefanie
What a sweet loving romance between 2 people! Addison & Landon is perfect together! ~ Tisha
Addison Sinclair is at her wits end with her teenage son and good-for-nothing ex-husband. A fortuitous phone call to her brother lands her in Lexington and working in the local general practitioner’s office. She finds herself drawn to the handsome, younger man she met at her brother’s friends’ wedding last summer.
Landon Montgomery realizes the single life is no longer for him after all of his buddies have settled down. The choices for rectifying it, however, are fewer and far between. His mother with her good intentions, doesn’t seem to be helping much in that department and now that his dad has semi-retired, he’s a lot busier with their family HVAC business.
I have enjoyed getting to know all of the couples in this series. The book is well-written and very captivating.
I feel like these characters fit very well from the beginning. I loved Addy’s determination to make sure her son was taken care of while trying to figure out her new life. I loved Landon’s ability to make her feel cherished and how he managed to relate to her teenage son. Their interactions while new, seemed to be easy and not forced.
I’m excited for the next book and loved them all. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.
Oh, this series. I was so excited knowing we were getting Landon’s book. It was so fitting for him and was exactly what I needed.
Addy is a divorced mom with a teenage son who is giving her serious grief. After a talk with Taylor (Hello Taylor and Country Road!) she decides to pack up and move to Lexington and oh am I glad she did.
Landon, oh sweet Landon, is trying to adjust to life as the only bachelor in his group of friends. His routine of always hanging out with the guys has changed with the introduction of the females in their lives. Because of this, Landon finds himself alone on NYE at the Country Road and oh am I glad he was! In walks Addy and life hasn’t been the same for him since.
The relationship Addy and Landon have is amazing. Landon never cared for day one that she was older or that she was a single mo. Watching the two of them grow together and fall in love was one of my absolute favorite parts and I can say that I’m going with Landon is my favorite out of all the Country Road men. He loves openly and with a full heart. He didn’t care that Addy had Mason, he didn’t care about her age, he just wanted her.
I can’t wait for Taylor’s story next!
I love this book! This was my first book I have read by this author and I am hooked. This is the story of Addison and Landon. Addison is a single mom, divorced trying to raise a teenage son, Mason, on her own. When Mason starts acting out and almost getting himself in real big trouble she takes her brother Taylor’s offer and moves to the small town of Lexington. There she meets a great group of new friends and even becomes closer to Landon, whom she met at a wedding prior. Landon is the only bachelor left in the group of his friends. He starts to think he wants to settle down and have a family. Then Addison appears. And he is head over heels for her. She is hesitant because of their 8 year age gap and she feels she has too much baggage. Landon is determined to prove that he wants her and all the comes with her.
I loved this story. These two characters were great. They had me laughing out loud many times. And Landon, woo! He totally had me swooning. Especially his connection with Mason. He gives Mason a job with him making furniture out of wood. It gives Mason a hobby and purpose and it starts to mend his relationship with Addison too. Landon is the male figure Mason needed in his life. I loved Addison but she drove me nuts at time because she was so hesitant on falling in love with Landon. He is so perfect for her! But the heart is a hard thing to heal. Especially when Mason’s dad just decided he wanted a new life and left.
I highly suggest this book. This is a feel good story. I promise readers will laugh, almost cry, swoon, feel the story in their heart and fall in love with each character. I am thinking about moving to Lexington myself! (haha) I am definitely going to be reading the other books in this series. And I can’t wait for the next one!
