“I didn’t reply. I couldn’t. Seeing this man’s naked private parts had not rendered me speechless but watching him lick ice cream off his finger had.” – June TuckerJune Tucker doesn’t understand people. Numbers, data, and statistics? Those make sense. People? Not so much. In a town of Friday night fighters and moonshine-swilling line dancers, she’s the odd duck. And that suits her just fine. But … suits her just fine. But her sister and friends are pairing off, and the change is unsettling.
George “GT” Thompson was at the top of his game—one of the best receivers in football. But a career-ending injury sidelined him for good. Now he’s hoping to find relief in the healing waters of this tiny West Virginia town. And maybe an idea of what life has in store for him next.
He doesn’t expect the no-nonsense girl at the hot spring, telling him he’s not supposed to be there. And pointing out his sizeable… equipment.
George is fascinated by June, with her head full of statistics and blunt honesty. He appreciates her in a way most others don’t. And when the local missing persons case takes a shocking turn, he’s by Scooby-June’s side as she digs for the truth.
He was her fantasy receiver. Now he’s her real-life boyfriend. But as their relationship heats up, June worries she’s not capable of the kind of intimacy he needs. He’s convinced his campaign to get her out of her own head—to stop thinking and feel—will work. But his own crisis could drive them further apart.

This is the fourth book I have read in this series which I highly recommend. I love revisiting family members, especially the Bodines, who live in small towns like Bootleg Springs. Sisters Cassidy (dating Bowie Bodine and featured in Book 3) and June have been mentioned in each of the books, and now it’s time for June to get her chance at love, with one of her real-life heroes no less.
I loved the way Cassidy looked out for June, always included her, and made her feel special. I just wish June’s “quirkiness” was identified in the book as being a form of Asperger’s or a mild form of autism rather than “this is just the way she is.” The way she spoke, her literal interpretation of conversation, her thought process, her high level of intelligence, and her comfort with things familiar and routine, is all part of the condition.
I loved June in this story and can’t find one fault with her. She was loyal and loving and truly an inspiration. I admire a heroine who is smart and June had it in spades with her photographic memory of statistics and her mathematical genius. June didn’t have a mean bone in her body and I was so happy that she not only found love, but found it with the hot and handsome and very talented George “GT” Thompson!
GT stumbled into Bootleg to use the healing power of the hot springs for his injured knee and that is when he meets June. At first it was just a glance in the coffee shop, but then it was actually at the hot springs. This scene and many others had me laughing out loud and I loved the two of them together. My favorite scene in the entire book is when they were dancing, and how he understood her quirks and hesitation, and found a way to get through to her. They were two unlikely people who wound up being a perfect match.
Although he made very poor decisions regarding his finances and I didn’t like how passé he was about letting someone else handle all his affairs, especially since he retired and had time on his hands, I did love him as the hero of this story. He was genuine, warm, patient, caring, and, of course, a talented athlete as he played pro-ball. His relationship with June was so genuine, and I loved how he adored her and valued her as a person as well as all of her charming characteristics. I also admired how he reflected on the things he had either said or done, and how he could admit when he was wrong.
I loved how the Bodines and Devin accepted GT and their ritual for it by tossing him in the lake. So funny! I mostly enjoy revisiting the family members, Scarlett, Bowie, Jameson, Gibson, Jonah, etc. Without giving too much away, the missing-person Callie story continues and brings everyone together; I am really looking forward to learning how it all plays out. I have been reading all of the speculations and I am sure Claire and Lucy are giggling as they are the only ones at this point who know the ending of book 6!
I like the fact Cassidy and her dad are on the police force and how they come together to support one another and try and solve the mystery, and how June also helped with the case. Also some funny, brave, daring, and bold moves on her part (like when she went into the Biker Bar). Go June!
This book was beautifully and brilliantly written and had me captivated from the very first page. I am hoping for a book 7 because so far, most of the couples are engaged or dating and there have been NO WEDDINGS!
I have been anticipating June’s story for awhile now and the wait was so worth it! While we were getting to know June in the previous books, I was really curious what type of man would understand her. George was just perfect for her.
June Tucker has always been a bit different, she is highly intelligent and very literal with everything. She herself admits she does not understand human emotions that well. But once George GT Thompson comes into town, and she has these strange symptoms, her first thought was she was getting sick. It was hilarious and sweet. As for George he was instantly fascinated with her. He appreciated her way of thinking and her straightforwardness. And as they kept getting to know each other, his fascination continues to grow as does his feelings for her. He just gets her. What I absolutely loved about George was how he used June’s love of math to show his feelings for her. It was awesome! And his love for Mellow, talk about swoony!
Then we also get some twists and turns regarding the case of Callie Kendall. Even though June says she doesn’t understand human emotions, but she shows it. She is loyal and she cares for her town, so Scooby-June is born. Loved it! And of course, we had so see some Bootleg Justice, I so love June’s brain!
Now it is the painful wait for then next book. I really need to know about Gibson, there are so many theories out there and they are all intriguing!
I love this book so much, definitely my favorite in the series so far. Highly recommend!
Finally we get a love interest for June. This book proves that opposites definitely attract when braniac and introvert June and retired pro-footballer GT come together in a relationship. Although it is filled with doubt and misunderstanding the two have instant sparks and beautifully written chemistry. An emotional journey for both as they try to combine their lives. An awesome addition to a wonderful series.
If this is first book is the Bootleg Springs Series, then you’re in for a treat ! If you’ve already read the other books in the Bootleg Springs Series, then you’re in for a treat ! June Tucker is so beautifully unique and so super smart but is socially awkward until George “GT” Thompson steps into her life. GT’s professional football, career ending injury brings him to Bootleg Springs tp rehabilitate. The “springs” in Bootleg Springs is world famous for healing. That first meeting at the spa between GT and June was rememberable and sooo hot !!! The chemistry between this couple was beautifully written and the storyline was amazing!! Five star read all the way .
I’m in love with Bootleg Springs! Claire Kingsley and Lucy Score have created such a cozy place to spend some time.
This time we are lucky enough to enjoy June and GT’s story. And it’s totally sigh worthy. June is a different sort of heroine, she’s a genius with a very keen knowledge of numbers so it makes sense that she has a very analytical personality and view of life. GT comes to town seaking out the healing of the hot springs. He decides to stay a bit to get to lnow June better. I love how George is with June, he sees the woman he loves. I’ve got to comment that Claire Kingsley hit this out of the park!
This book is probably my favorite book written by Claire Kingsley. I love the characters, no nonsense June (very literal, very smart, doesn’t relate well with other people) and retired NFL player George (a man who sees and appreciates all the things that make June who she is, a man who is used to people not seeing the real him and wanting him only for what he can do for them). I how they fall in love with each other, how GT helps June be able to relate a bit more with people but not try to change who she is. This book had me smiling and loving the entire way through. I recommend this book 100%.
Bourbon Bliss is the fourth book in the Bootleg Springs series, which frankly is one of the best series currently in this genre. These authors have created a fictional town that is so real and full of vibrant, fun, quirky, amazing characters. This is June Tucker’s story and what a story it is. June’s character has been different from the beginning, with her high intelligence and logical point of view setting her apart from the others. Her family and friends have always included June, but she knows she is different and for the most part had come to terms with it. Enter GT Thompson. This is a man who is going to change her world and in such an amazing way. What I enjoyed about this story was really watching June come into her own and blossom into the person I think she always wanted to be but didn’t know how to become. The authors have done such an incredible job writing these characters that as a reader you are rooting for them to win and cry with them over the disappointments and hurts. GT is the perfect match for June. He is patient, kind and he sees the real June and likes her for who she is. Their love story was sweet, tender, steamy, romantic and a bit rocky in a few places – everything you want from this type of story.
The authors also threw in a few new twists having to do with the disappearance of Callie Kendall which will keep the readers on their toes and conspiracy theories flying. There’s also some Bootleg Justice served up.
This is an amazing series and I would highly recommend it to anyone. You will fall in love with Bootleg Springs, the Bodines and the townspeople.
I voluntarily read a digital ARC provided to me by the author.
Bootleg Springs! The town where the healing of bodies, minds, and hearts is an everyday occurrence, along with free-range chickens in the literal sense, an alcohol-infused game of Simon Says gathers a crowd, drive-by charcoal grilling delivers tasty fare, there’s bound to be catapulting of someone, and bootleg justice is one of a kind! Sign me up!!
June Tucker – I LOVE HER. – “June bug’s” story, the too smart for her own good, overly analytical, number whiz and George Thompson “GT” Pro Footballer whose career ends due to injury, he heads to the famous springs in Bootleg that his sister Shelby recommended hoping to help aid in his recovery. He found a lot more than just the springs healing properties that day; he got a crash course in June Tucker!
The unlikeliest of pairs but their connection is one cannot be
replicated!
Between Junes endearing awkwardness towards relationships and George working his way into her world, coupled with the murder/disappearance mystery plot twists that keeps getting deeper, nothing got accomplished until I finished this book!
Another stellar, sexy, explosion of laughter and love jam-packed story that has me clamoring for more from this crazy awesome bunch of characters who have I adore!
I could not wait for book 4 of the Bootleg Springs series to come out because I have loved June’s character so much. I had a sneaking suspicion that her story was going to become my favorite, but it was even more magical than I expected. Claire Kingsley scored a huge touchdown when she created George for June Bug. He was so swoony, and patient with her, and together they were just perfection. Sigh. This book was just everything and a little bit more.
Bourbon Bliss is the fourth book in the Bootleg Springs series by Claire Kingsley and Lucy Score. Each story in the series is about a different couple and has an interconnecting mystery weaved throughout.
Even though I cannot wait to hear what happened with Callie (the mystery), I think June’s book was definitely the one I was most excited about from this series!!!
Oh June-bug, how do I describe you??
June is a unique character…she is dry and literal…people do not make sense to her..and she loves numbers. Through the book you realize that she struggles with feeling…really anything. And as much as she had accepted it, it bugs her to feel like she’s on the outside of groups.
George *swoon* is…just the best. He’s patient with June…listens and asks questions and doesn’t think she’s weird. She fascinates him and he can’t stay away from her.
There story is just the sweetest. She’s different than anyone he’s ever been with…and he’s just everything she never knew she wanted and needed.
I encourage you to pick this up ASAP. If you have not read the first three books in the series, do that FIRST!!! It is AMAZING – you will be sucked in and patiently (or impatiently) waiting for the last two books this summer!!
In the fourth book in the collaboration between Claire Kingsley and Lucy Score, we get to hear Junie’s story. What a story it was. I loved every word, and while the mystery is still alive, this book just caused more questions!
As one of the more aloof characters, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Junie’s brain. Claire did a fantastic job giving us a phenomenal insight as Junie explores this never felt before interest in George “GT” Thompson who’s injury has been plaguing her fantasy football stats.
GT is just looking to start feeling better after the retirement induced injury on his knee and wants to explore these magical springs but finds himself intrigued with June’s brain.
I loved how these two characters found their HEA through their own quirks and problems.
This story is the continuation of the bootleg springs series, which I highly recommend. So let’s talk about this story. Firstly I want to compliment these brilliant authors who have created such an amazing character as June Bug. She isn’t an ordinary girl, on the contrary she is very unusual owing to her utter intelligence. Although some fellow citizens consider her a robot, Juney has a mind of her own and the only person who sees her gifted features, besides her family and close friends, is GT Thompson, an all star football player who comes to Bootleg Springs to rewind and recover from a serious injury that has cost him a premature retirement. GT aka George is a handsome giant who notices June since the beginning and becomes fascinated by her as a whole. Their bond is inevitable but if June remains a little uneasy owing to her past issues with her romantic relationships, George will make it a mission to give June the opportunity to overcome her fears and to let her seriously “feel”. I just loved these characters and their way to interact with one another. June has been a surprise for me, I initially judged her as a person unable to feel and I really apologize for not going beyond and find the real June just like George did. I would like to say more but I really don’t want to give a further reason to spoil this heartbreaking and loving story.
The Bootleg Springs Series with Claire Kingsley and Lucy Score is THE absolute most fun I’m having reading a romance series! It’s witty, sexy, romantic, and has some of the best characters I’ve ever read. One of my favorite characters: June Tucker. With this latest book, George “GT” Thompson has definitely earned a spot right next to her. These two truly make my heart melt into a big ole puddle of “all the feels.” Whenever I feel the urge to curl up with a familiarly good book, I can see myself pulling out Bourbon Bliss for as many rereads as necessary.
Now, June has been a “girl-crush” (besides Scarlett, of course) of mine since the very beginning. With every book, she just shines brighter and brighter with her super brain, her perfectly timed schedules and routines, and her honest attempts to be “normal” but lacking in the social skills department. She’s hilarious without even trying. Seriously–If you know June—then you know she’s not trying to make you laugh out loud on purpose. It can’t be helped!
Anyway, June Tucker finally gets her story, and the introduction to ex-football player George “GT” Thompson—in the flesh. He has suffered a career ending-injury and arrives in Bootleg Springs to recuperate, rehabilitate, and just regroup. Of course, June and that super brain of hers knows every stat there is to know about the former football player. However, what she didn’t figure on her little calculators, computers, and piles of spreadsheets was how George was going to be the man to make her truly feel. For a woman who has trouble sussing out her emotions, it is quite the eye-opening experience for her. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. Readers–like me–who have been eagerly anticipating June’s story, have the pleasure of watching it all unfold in Bourbon Bliss.
This book did not disappoint in any way. June’s past experiences and struggles with human relationships touched me to my core. But George is the perfect hero for our June Tucker. He doesn’t find her weird like other residents of Bootleg Springs. In fact, he’s captivated by her brain and straightforwardness—the way she just says, (more specifically, bluntly says) exactly what she’s thinking. For George, it’s refreshing to meet a woman who’s not pretending to be something she’s not. I enjoyed seeing June trying to work out those “foreign” feelings and emotions when it came to the ex-ball player. George’s patience and his ability to understand how she needs to be treated had me swooning from their very first meet. Even though it seems to just come naturally for him, I love that he just “gets her.” George… *le sigh* …George.
The Bootleg Springs antics does not stop with this book. The Bodines are still launching prospective beaus into lakes with crazy contraptions and bootleg justice is being doled out . . . albeit a little more subtle this time! Then, the new revelations into the Callie Kendall mystery not only throw this town for a loop, but it creates even more suspicions, and the theories about what happened years ago are multiplying. This is undoubtedly my favorite book of the series so far.
This is the best Bootleg Book to date but, most importantly. I feel like, even if you haven’t read the previous books you can jump in and read this as a standalone. GT is my new favorite book boyfriend and June is easily my new favorite heroine. I just love quirky heroines, sue me! If you want something hot hot HAWT to read. Want to laugh and speculate a little mystery this is the book to snag. THEN go read the others. You will thank me. I promise.
HEA
SEXYTIMES
HILARIOUS
This has to be by far my favorite book in the series. I loved how cut and dry June is as a person. She speaks her mind and she has a no nonsense attitude about her. I love all the scenes when she goes out and just can’t be bothered with people but out of her love for Cassidy she does do it. All the investigating she does makes for a great storyline as well and i love how GT entertains her and goes right along side.
GT was also a great character typical footballer you’d think but there’s so much more to him He was funny and a straight shooter as well. I loved how he kind of got the wind knocked out of him when he saw June in the diner the first time.
But my all time favor part of the book besides the HEA was Jonah explaining sex from a male point of view to June.
This was beyond a 5 Star read just fantastic. Defiantly a must read!!!!!!
Bourbon Bliss has to be THE book of the year for me, and I have read a lot of books!
June is a rather special young lady, she doesn’t understand emotions very well, and always says what she thinks, regardless of whether she hurts peoples feelings, because she never means to do it, but it just happens! She is exceptionally clever and the folks of Bootleg Springs accept the way she is and love her all the same!
GT Thompson is a retired American football player , he moves to Bootleg as his sister raved about the town and he needed the escape from all that had happened in his life recently!
When June and George (GT) meet for the first time, it’s a little odd, they both find each other attractive, but he also realises that June is different from the city girls he has dated previously!
What follows is a beautifully written love story, with ups and downs, misunderstandings and forgiveness and a whole lot of Junebug supporters and love!
On another note, the mystery of the disappearance of Callie deepens, things happen and the investigation takes a rather interesting turn!
A story as extraordinary as June herself. A surprising romance that is very beautiful, sweet and hot. An unusual pet. A second chance dance. A catapulting hero. An evil woman. An answer, or maybe just new question. Peach Pie moonshine!
These authors come together to create something so different that it blows my mind.
Early in the series, June stood out for such hilarious reasons. She speaks all the things we think and makes no bones about it. I loved how sports-centered she was as she reminded me a lot of myself. So much book awesomeness!
Honestly, I am struggling to write this review. Not because there is anything wrong with this book, but because EVERYTHING is so perfectly RIGHT with it. June’s character is a bit of an enigma to me. She is analytical, rational, and has an uncanny ability to see the math in everyday happenings and objects. Her disinterest in forming new friendships or spending copious amounts of time nurturing relationships is where I can relate to her. June, even in her lack of desire to socialize, is warm, kind, caring, and loyal. She is a refreshing break from the usual emotional thinkers.
George the man, not the cat is a hot, hot, hot retired football player visiting Bootleg Springs for the hot springs. His fascination with June gives me the warm and fuzzies all over. His patience is something similar to that of a saint. This entire series is so very well written. The Callie Kendall case, sizzling relationships, and zany townspeople keep me coming back for more!
5*
I love the bootleg spring books & eagerly waited for June’s book & it did not disappoint!
George is a famous footballer & is now out of the game after another hit on his knee. His sister Shelby recommended recovering in bootleg springs.
June is the sister of Cassidy very clever and regularly speaks her mind which is direct & to the point. Meeting her idol leaves her tongue tied.
Brilliant book couldn’t put it down, more insight into the disappearance of Callie the mystery deepens and more clues are issued.
Worth the wait.
