Bound by the Earl (Lords of Discipline #2) by Alyson Chase – This one has adventure and drama in spades! Looking forward to the rest of the series! Happy Reading!
Good story, good characters and lots of suspense. Just a fun read overall. I really enjoyed it.
I wasn’t a fan of the steamy scenes but understood the context and why they were needed. I very much like the historical information on the prison system and the differences between the classes in how they viewed the law including how to make money. Good story about fighting fears.
Two damaged souls meet, set in historical romance period. They both experienced some horrors in their past that made them not suitable for anyone else but each other. The story is well-written with some interesting psychological background woven into it. The romance starts out as a non-romance, neither wishing to deal with anything deeper. Although there is a first book with some of the back story, it does not need to be read for the full appreciation. The ending is fairly typical…happily ever after, overcoming danger. A recommended try for even those who might not be into a historical romance.
Captivating storyline. It was entertaining to see how things might have been back then. Really enjoyed the ending too.
This was a very dark and brooding erotic historical between two deeply wounded characters who somehow find their perfect peace together. The author didn’t hold any punches when exploring the difficult pasts of these two characters, making it a harrowing but emotionally satisfying read. I personally loved the fact that Amanda flatly killed her abusive father, and has to deal with all the complex emotional fall out from that, rather than the author ducking the issue of guilt and self preservation with a convenient accident (as I have read in far too many other books!) Be ready with the tissues for this one, but if you’re looking for a heart wrenching read, you can’t do much better
first time with this author and I had a ball with this read – so I ordered the rest of the series and blew through them, couldn’t put them down – love the guys and the gals. ±P±
Wish it had more meat to it.
I don’t read period novels that often anymore, but this author was original. I look forward to more in this series.
It was a good read. The Characters were engaging and the story had a good plot to keep me turning the pages. The book, while part of a series is a stand alone book. I liked it enough to buy the next one in the series…enough said.
Great read
This was my first book by Ms Chase and I was not disappointed. The story had suspense, it was sweet, I laughed out loud and it basically had the hea ending.
I have seen some reviews stating that they don’t like the basis of this series, if you read the titles and the subtitle you know what you’re getting into – if it’s not your thing… Don’t read it! You can’t give a poor review just because it’s not your cup of tea
I loved the two main characters and I really love Aunt Mary’s character I hope she show’s up in the other books. I’m going to have to go back and read the first one in the series so that I can get to the 3rd
If you like steamy Regency romances, you’ll love this book. Julius and Amanda are two broken souls who find each other, and through their love, they learn to overcome their issues.
This is book 2 of this series but I ended up reading it first. It was excellent. Two damaged characters who I loved, that helped each other & found love. I enjoyed the story line and the sex was steamy. I will read the other books in this series now.
Secure In His Arms
A blackmail ring brings together men working for the crown. Julius is not only involved, but must also must protect his friend’s sister-in-law. When they become lovers the ropes of bondage bring them closer together. Be aware this is no ordinary affair.
My my my.
The first thing you need to know about the romance part of this novel is that it contains explicit sexual encounters that include bondage and fellatio. Of that is offputting for you, this is not the book for you. The two main characters are both emotionally damaged. Julius had been held for three years in a Japanese prison; Amanda killed the father who had been raping her for years after he threatened to do the same to her younger sister. Julius, however, is also a spy for the British government so a good share of the book focuses on his search for blackmailers and murderers who are threatening the government’s stability. Both the main and secondary characters are likeable and well developed. The plot will keep you turning pages.
Fun!
“Bound by the Earl” by Alyson Chase is
a fast-paced historical romance, set in
Regency London (early 1800’s). This
romance involves Amanda, who had
mistakenly spent one year in prison
and was due to be hanged. The person
who saved her was Julius, a member of
the House of Lords and an expert
retriever for the crown. He and four
other men secretly took care of sensitive problems(reminds one of
our contemporary seals etc.). Julius,
too, had spent three years in a
Japanese prison, after being captured.
They each dealt with their fears in
different ways, but very soon began to
rely, trust and eventually love one
another. Their love story is well
described here, along with other well
developed characters. However, it is
lust, and eventually love between Julius
and Amanda that provides the excitement in this exciting novel.
