Scarlet Davis, ex-submissive, was content with her life between working as a programmer and dating a gorgeous six-foot-two golden-haired lumberjack she met on a Tinder date gone right. That is until she ran her car into a dog by accident. A dog which overnight turned into a naked man named Lucas who then proceeds to inform her that he is a wolf, not a dog. Now she is spending every waking moment … moment trying to forget such a thing is even possible.
But when her so-called relationship with the noncommittal golden boy-cum-Dominant takes a turn for the worse and fate refuses to let her forget the werewolf who also happens to be a Dom, Scarlet must decide if the big bad wolf is the real antagonist. Because in a story like this, it’s never just her heart on the line.

P Stormcrow is a new author to me so imagine my surprise when I found ‘Bound by Red’, the first book in her “The Midnight Retellings Collection”. This is a quick, easy read, which is both good and bad, with characters that were totally relatable and a storyline that was fun, emotional, and kinky!! This version of Little Red Ridinghood’s story is definitely not the one I grew up with but certainly will keep in my library now that I’m an adult! Because it’s a short story I don’t want to give anything away but if you enjoy this genre then you will absolutely want this book as part of your collection. I loved that it was such an easy read and yet I hated to see it end, it was that good.
“Bound by Red” is a fun love triangle story of the good guy with a bad side and a dangerous-looking guy who has a heart of gold. I loved this twist on Little Red Riding Hood. What’s more, this is an important book for those who desire a dominating partner but are currently unattached. Scarlett’s choices represent a true partner who plays the dominant in their play and the other guy is controlling and abusive. Since 50 Shades of Grey came out, there have been some grey areas (pun intended) on whether a boyfriend is dominant or abusive. This needs to be addressed in erotic books and “Bound by Red” does just that. As a bonus, the message isn’t preachy at all. It is packaged in a sexy, fast-paced story with a main character you want to find love from page one.
Off my soapbox and into the book! Scarlett is a computer programmer, and I loved the accurate portrayal of the profession. There are so many programmer stereotypes, but Scarlett is a normal woman who likes computers. Imagine that! She meets Derrick while online dating and on paper, he seems perfect. However, she is confronted with a dark-haired stranger in a coffee shop who sets her on fire. The author’s descriptions were so luscious, I was swooning next to Scarlett. I would have chased him out of the coffee shop! Once the reader gets to know him (sorry no spoilers here), he goes from gorgeous to SWOON-WORTHY. Yes, all caps.
I highly recommend this book. Not only did I enjoy reading it, but I found it important for those who are curious about “the scene”.
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed how the red riding hood story was sprinkled throughout the novel. The red hood from the event and the red hoodie. Granny showed up along with the “big bad wolf”. The main character’s name, Scarlet, alone was a nod with the nickname “Red”. These characters were well rounded and memorable. I know little about this genre or the subject of submissive, some things
I have an issue which could be a genre or subject thing.
There are a few things I wished were different. The story is too short, 9 Chapters plus an epilogue. And I still wanted more. I don’t mind short chapters, but I loved this story and wanted more, which is great right. For myself, I felt as if the story in the first 2 chapters were fast, and the tempo and story didn’t match until the third chapter. It is as if the writer wanted to hurry and get to the main storyline.
I felt the relationship between Scarlet and Derrick wasn’t realistic because of how the story opened. I wouldn’t have been bothered if maybe it was a mention how they met, not necessarily a flashback but a jump in on the relationship instead of just met then they act like they have been together for months. But I don’t know if it is the subject of submissiveness as again, I am not familiar with that world. Maybe another chapter or a few more dates before bringing in the sideways relationship. I loved how the relationship between Scarlet and Lucas developed and wished we got a little more of Lucas, maybe an extra chapter about a few days or weeks after the end incident before the epilogue. I think it’s mainly because I want more lol.
I recommend this book if you want a short, well-written story. I read it in one sitting, and I am not a fast reader. The balance between paranormal and romance is written well. I like twists on fairytales and this one I will read again.

I loved this book it was the perfect balance of everything a good book needs. There was a shy yet strong willed heroine. Our sexy leading man who’s also a werewolf with a pantymelting accent. And no good book would be complete with out the scum but I’ll leave those details for you to read about. Sometimes paranormal can be over the top and the story gets lost. But when reading P. Stormcrow’s books I never feel like the story gets lost or the Paranormal takes over the balance is always there it makes her work really enjoyable to read. I wished it were longer but that is my only complaint.
