Born into one of the leading Mob families in Chicago, Aria Scuderi struggles to find her own path in a world where no choices are given. Aria was only fifteen when her parents betrothed her to Luca — The Vice — Vitiello, the oldest son of the head of the New York Cosa Nostra to ensure peace between the two families.
Now with eighteen, the day Aria has been dreading for years is looming … looming dangerously: her wedding to Luca.
Aria is terrified of marrying a man she hardly knows, especially someone like Luca who got his nickname ‘the Vice’ for crushing a man’s throat with his bare hands. Luca might be one of the most sought after men in New York thanks to his good looks, wealth and predator-like charisma that radiates power, but the society girls throwing themselves at him don’t know what Aria does: that the bad boy aura isn’t just a game; blood and death lurk beneath Luca’s striking gray eyes and arrogant smile.
In her world a handsome exterior often hides the monster within; a monster who can just as easily kill as kiss you.
The only way to escape the marriage to Luca would be to run away and leave everything she’s ever known behind but Aria can’t bear the thought of never seeing her family again.
Despite her fear, she decides to go through with the marriage; Aria has grown up among predators like Luca and knows that even most cold-hearted bastards have a heart and she has every intention of working her way into Luca’s.

I am one of those who absolutely LOVE Mafia books. Especially when I get an Alpha male (alphahole is also best) who is scary and deadly to his enemies, rules with an iron fist, and doesn’t turn into a nice guy or wants to leave the life – BUT is still capable of loving his wife.
And that’s what Luca is. All of the above. Yummy yummy.

I can hear violins, violins
Give me all of that ultraviolence.”

This was my first ever mafia book and Cora Reilly truly blew me away.
The book introduces Reilly’s mafia world and sets the scene. Aria Scuderi is the oldest daughter of the Outfits Consigliere and is promised in marriage to the oldest son of the New York Familia. As women have no say in matters within their traditional world, once Aria turns 18 …
The first book of an incredible series. A book full of sexy romance, action and complex characters.
Cora is an incredible writer and every book leaves me wanting more of her amazing mafia world!
I love this entire series!
This is what I consider a nice, mind clearing read. With some steamy scenes!
Good story that keeps you wanting to turn the next page. Absolutely hated one of the suporting characters; caused discord & bad decisions to be made by one of the feature characters . . . although I guess that was their purpose. Good read & will be wanting to get the other books in the series.
Love this series.
Very original story and interesting story line.
Have not read this book.
Really enjoyed this book, can’t wait to read the rest of the series
This is not what i was expecting when I read the synopsis. I loved every minute of this book. I could imagine the Mafia world as if I was in the story.
I liked the characters, it was a good read.
Showed characters that you dislike and like at the same time.
It was amazing
I feel like this is the start to what may become a great series but it’s hard to buy the romance when the male character is caught cheating right out of the gate? Takes away from the mobster with a heart of gold image that the author seems to want us to buy…
Moving and steamy.
Very predictable, but entertaining.
This is the first that I have read from this author and have found the characters to be very haunting. I will continue to follow this writer in the future.
