When Gianna watched her sister Aria getting married to a man she barely knew, she promised herself she wouldn’t let the same thing happen to her. Matteo – The Blade – Vitiello set his eyes on Gianna the moment he saw her on his brother Luca’s wedding, and Rocco Scuderi is more than willing to give his daughter to him, but Gianna has no intention of marrying for any other reason than love. A few … few months before the wedding, Gianna escapes her bodyguards and runs away. She has enough money to flee to Europe and begin a new life. But staying undetected when the mob is searching for her is a challenge that takes everything, especially as one of their best hunters and assassins is after her: Matteo Vitiello. After six months on the run, Gianna finally settles into a tentative routine in Munich, but then Matteo and a couple of her father’s soldiers find her with another man. Despite her pleads they kill her boyfriend, and Gianna is forced to marry Matteo. Her emotions alternating between guilt over having dragged an innocent into her world and hatred toward Matteo, Gianna is determined to make life hell for her husband. But Matteo is a master at mind games and their struggle for power soon turns into hate-fueled nights of passion.

Gianna was running from what she had known all her life. She was part of the mob and it won’t change. When Mattoe wanted her he would have her. All she wanted was freedoms. When she had it, and chances for it she didn’t take them. Her life had changed and filled with unexplained emotions. Until the day of the accident she realized her true feelings. But can she have a truce with Luca.
Gianna and Matteo clash in this enemies-to-lovers mafia romance…and it was amazing! Gianna is the best kind of feisty and wants nothing to do with Matteo after watching her sister be forced to marry Matteo’s brother. Matteo wants nothing other than Gianna and sets out to get her. u2063

Lots of Luca and Aria in this one which I loved! There was quite a bit of action in this one as well with Gianna running away to Europe. Gianna and Matteo were perfect for each other…I’m not sure anyone else could handle them! u2063

Unlike the first few books, this one is a dual POV. This is what I felt was missing from the beginning of the series, so I was excited to see the change! u2063
This was Matteo and Gianna’s story we met both in previous books and it was obvious from the get-go that their road to happiness was not going to an easy one with lots of bumps in the road mostly because of Gianna.
Matteo had fixated on having her as his wife despite her objections and this being the mafia world Gianna being a woman has little control over her future.
She takes the law into her own hands and runs even knowing the consequences if she’s caught.
Naturally, Matteo gives chase she didn’t really stand a chance and she finds herself hauled back home and married anyway.
So I adored Matteo he’s one of a kind and a complete loose cannon. He’s protective and easygoing on the surface but underneath he’s just as brutal and ruthless as his brother maybe even more so because he wears a mask concealing his hidden monster.
He was patience personified with Gianna despite whatever she throws at him he only cares for her more because of it.
He likes her just the way she is and sees something in her that others don’t and he also doesn’t want her to change either.
I felt Gianna was being stubborn just for the sake of pride and did find her somewhat childish.
Her behaviour at times bordering on a tantrum and she has absolutely no sense of self-preservation and can even be a lot selfish.
As much as she professes to adore her sister it almost seems that at times she looks down on her for accepting her place in this world.
I personally think that shows more of a sense of maturity and consideration Aria thinks before she acts and considers how her actions will affect others with Gianna it’s all about her which sometimes made me dislike her a bit.
Her snarky attitude could sometimes get a bit much.
But despite that I did enjoy this mostly for Matteo he is what sold this for me I loved him in all his psychotic glory.
His protectiveness with Gianna despite her actions only sealed the deal for me.
As for Gianna’s parents what a waste of space her father is bloody awful and her mother is just so passive, it’s unreal it makes you wonder where Gianna got her backbone from it’s certainly not dear old mum that’s for sure.

This book left me speechless. It is filled with action and Matteo and Gianna’s romance is very up and down and unpredictable. I enjoyed this book.
This book was a wonderful surprise, I didn’t know I missed the Famiglia so much until I read this Antalogy, I confess that it was a roller coaster of emotions. I often cried, smiled, cursed, had to stop for a while and breathe, it was a complete experience, if if I could define this antalogy in one word it would be “Family”, all the obstacles they faced together until they reached where they are today, I have to mention the moments between Gianna and Luca that warmed my heart and the GrowlCara Story was more than perfect, not actually Growl, but Ryan, he got all the happiness he deserved.
Thank you for this experience Cora Reilly.
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The intensity of this book. I devoured it! This is my favorite so far! Matteo and Gianna are just out of this world, I don’t even know how to encapsulate in this review the emotions this story made me feel.
Matteo wants Gianna SO BAD and he will do everything to get her. Both of them have such strong determination. I loved how Gianna tried to escape the mafia world and dared to do what no other woman had done in any other of the books. I don’t wanna spoil the story, just know the love scenes are intense, their dialogue is the best, the story is totally thrilling and the book will keep your interest like crazy.
I loved everything about this book: the characters, the plot, the witty flirty dialogue, Gianna’s comebacks, and Cora’s writing style, what can I say, I love Cora’s book. The story is exhilarating, I just want more, more and more! If you are thinking about grabbing this book, don’t wait, you’re gonna love it!
Bound by Hatred by Cora Reilly is a mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Wen Ross and Lynn Barrington. This is the third book in the Born In Blood Mafia Chronicles
I absolutely love this series! Each book just keeps getting better and better. Cora does an amazing job pulling me in from the very first chapter. . I really enjoyed the push and pull between Gianna and Matteo. I can’t wait to dive into the next book in the series Bound By Temptation so I can get Liliana and Romero’s story.
Wen and Lynn did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like mafia romances or arranged marriages.
I knew this one would be good!!
I loved Matteo. He knew what he wanted and he went after it (her) literally. Gianna got on my nerves a few times but I just had to keep reminding myself that she’s young and all she knew about love was what her father meted out. She needed to grow up. I hope we get to see more of them in the rest of the series. We get so few pages of them being happy. I’ve noticed the author has done this in the first two books in the series. We don’t start seeing a resolution until the very last pages. I want more HEA time!!!
This book badly needed an editor. Several times, the error was so jarring that it took my mind off the story.
Moving on to the next book…Lilly and Romero!!
Needs proper editing! I’m giving this book 4 stars. If I only based my rate on the story and not the presentation it would have deserved 5 starts but, unfortunately- and here we go again, the author left far too many edits on the table. I started reading this series a few days ago. The series itself is quite good but for the grammar/spelling/edit errors. I read book 0 first and I was sorely disappointed – the content was fine but I was interrupted 17 times with wrong word choices, wrong tenses, grammar, etc. I carried on – book 1 had some but not any where near as many. This book has more than I would like. There are about 10 interruptions. One in particular is where the author has translated ‘unconscious’ as ‘broken down’ – when someone falls unconscious it is not called broken down unless less they have a good cry on their way to the floor! I believe the author’s first language is not English and when that is the circumstance an author needs a beta reader and a “GOOD” proof reader. I find it extremely frustrating when I pay a good price ($6, 7 or 8) for a book and I’m interrupted with constant errors that should have been dealt with unless I’m reading an arc. These errors should be fixed, especially when I sent them to the author and listed them under notes on.good reads and the books updated!
Okay, here definitely only two stars. I liked it, yeah, that’s true. But not that much as Bound by Honor, which was only three stars. As we could see a progress from BbH to BbD, here we can see a little regress.
Matteo is hot, quite funny and definitely full of himself. But his interest with Gianna has really no explanation. He just saw her, listened to one sentence and needed to have her. That literally makes no sense at all. There is no logical explanation of that.
And Gianna is not likeable at all. I really can understand Luca at this point. She is so annoying that I barely made it through the book. It’s usually that the main heroine develops throughout the plot and becomes more likeable with each page.
If you actually do search for that kind of story plot… it’s not a book for you. Gianna stays proud (in an annoying way) and bitchy through almost whole book… ending that slightly in last few pages.
However, I have a thing with Cora and her books, which is why I wouldn’t give any of her novels less than two stars. It’s just the thing with bad boys that are usually the most likeable characters ever. Reilly is definitely one of the very few authors that can manage to put any male character in the book and make you either love or hate him. There is nothing you can do about it. If she wants you to like someone, you will.
And although it is only a rule with males and not her female characters… it’s still very precious trait.
I loved this book! This is the third book in the series and it takes off from where the first book ended. This is Gianna’s story. Gianna is the rebellion of the family. Gianna does not want an arranged marriage, she wants to marry who she wants for love. Gianna does not do well with people telling her what to do. She is a spit fire. Gianna is supposed to marry Matteo, they met in book one, and he decided he wanted her. He loved how she did not just fall at his feet, but she challenged him at every turn. Gianna ended up running away before she was forced to marry. She of course got caught, and brought back to marry Matteo. She ends up giving Matteo a chance, and she falls in love with him. This book kept me turning the pages to see what was going to happen. I will definitely reread this book.
Bound by Hatred is the third book in the Born in Mafia Chronicles by Cora Reilly.
“I think there’s a huge difference between the kind of trouble I stir up and the trouble you cause.”
I have been waiting for Matteo’s book since by Bound by Honor and I fell in love. Matteo is absolutely on fire. He was pure perfection. He is unapologetic with everything.
“He looked magnificent, like something even Michelangelo couldn’t have created better.”
Gianna Scuderi is quite the opposite of her sister, Aria. She is not obedient and she is determined not to have the same fate as her sister. She is 100% determined to change her fate. She is stubborn, snarky, hard-headed, and absolutely feisty. Matteo, The Blade, Vitiello is unapologetic for who he is; brutal, ruthless, stubborn and deadly.
“You won’t ever be free. None of us are. We are all caged in by the rules of our world.”
Gianna escapes her fate by running away to various places under different aliases and staying low. As the best hunter in the world, it is no surprise that Matteo finds her in a comprising position. All soldiers in the Outfit and the Familia sees his as a slap in the face and a total dishonor, but Matteo is as stubborn as she is and he ends up marrying her. This was a battle of give and take and stubbornness was in full display.
“You can pretend this isn’t doing anything to you, Gianna, but your body betrays you.”
Gianna and Matteo was an explosion together. They were so good that I still want more of them to this day. I need them badly and I feel like there just wasn’t enough of them. Please Cora Reilly, help me!! I need me some Gianna and Matteo fix.
“Love means someone is perfect for you despite their imperfections.”
