After years of study, Adria is on the verge of becoming the first female physic in Primarian history. A string of mysterious incidents has the entire Terra Nova Colony on edge, but she isn’t going to let that stand in her way and neither is Beckett Kincaid. Gorgeous, bossy, and infuriating, she thought Beck was her friend. Given what they shared, he could have been so much more. But the … domineering owner of BRK Construction betrays her trust. And when Adria is sent home, delaying her dreams, if not completely dashing them, she isn’t sure she can ever forgive him.
When she’s permitted to return to the colony to complete her training, the first order of business is finding Beck, clearing the air, and finishing what they started. But after saying things in anger she now regrets, is it too late for them? Adria barely sets foot on Terra Nova when trouble finds her again. It seems the evil infecting the colony is more sinister than anyone could have imagined.
Drawn to her by otherworldly forces he can’t explain, Beck is intent on protecting Adria no matter the cost, even if it means risking his once shattered heart. With intrigue and danger swirling around them, can they defeat the insidious threat plaguing the budding colony, and with their Primarian allies’ help, preserve the only hope for his people’s survival?

“Bound By Fate” is the first book in the Terra Nova Colony series and it does NOT disappoint! It is a fantastic spin-off from the Primarian Mates series which continues the story about forming a joint human/Primarian colony and the challenges that they face. This story offers a whole new angle to Maddie Taylor’s earlier Primarian Mates stories by focusing on a female Primarian, Adria. She is one of the many female aliens who can’t have children due to the subsequent sterility of females after the “Reign of Fire” and how she deals with her emotions of being thankful that her species will live on due to pairing the Primarian males with human females and knowing she will never be a mother.
Maddie Taylor is a gifted writer, the story is well developed, her characters have depth and we care and worry about them. Adria is building a new and different life than she had imagined as a result of these event. She has studied long and hard to be the first female doctor on her world and believes she will never have a mate. I love the way Maddie Taylor treats the situation of their society evolving new roles for women and the affects on the men and the challenges Adria faces. Beckett Kincaid, is a Handsome, Sexy, contractor from Earth who is instrumental in building the new colony accommodations for the newly arriving human females, miners and builders and also the Primerians that were searching for their fated mate so that they could continue to rebuild their society after the loss of so many lives. His past with women hasn’t been very successful and he has decided, he will never become permanently involved, again. Well, we know how that goes…….LOL Beckett is drawn to Adria and she to him. The sparks fly, but I enjoyed that they didn’t allow their instant love to bloom, immediately. They kept keeping a distance between them and slowly they built a friendship. Beck is dominant and has a protective side, especially when it comes to Adria. Yet, fate intervened and an Alien from another planet, kidnaps Adria. Everyone is searching for her, will she be found? This is a wonderful romantic story, fast paced, amazing sexy scenes, filled with twists and turns and a page turner! The book is a stand alone read but I can’t wait for the next book in the series! I could write more but, it’s time for you to pick up the book and enjoy!!!
this is a wonderful book. I loved it! Maddie Taylor will hold you from beginning to end with her romance, action, and alpha male.
Firstly, let me say that I’m not a huge sci-fi fan. It’s not a genre that I would ever read without already knowing & liking the author. That was the case with this book. I’ve read a number of books by Maddie Taylor in the past & have really enjoyed them. I know that she has written the Primarian Mates sci-fi series but I haven’t read any of those, & this book is the first in a spin-off series. Having not read the other Primarian books definitely put me at a disadvantage in knowing the characters & understanding some of the interactions, but this can be read standalone. The characters were interesting & there was some fun, lighthearted moments, particularly when it came to the translation of Earth language & customs. The relationship between Beck & Adria was D/s but if spanking is your thing, this was light on with spanking. I liked that there were enough characters to build a number of books on, & I’m already interested in the characters enough to want to read their stories. For me, this was an okay read for a genre that isn’t a favourite.
Bound by Fate is a spin-off, and what a great way to start. I could not put this book down. Maddie Taylor has become one of my go-to authors when it comes to outer space romance books. Bound by Fate is a slow burn romance that you usually don’t get from a sci-fi novel. Bound by Fate is a great read!
3.5 stars
I haven’t read this author before and TBH I wasn’t sure what to expect as I went into this book blind. I will be honest I think I was expecting a shifter book not an alien book, I don’t normally read Alien books. It took me a while to get into this book but once I did I did enjoy it. I did find it slow in a few places as the prologue was strong and then the next section of the book slowed down.
I liked the main characters they were both strong and kind, prepared to risk everything, including their lives, to save others. The chemistry between them is intense but I did like how they started as friends first.
Wonderful start to a new series.
This is a wonderful start to a new series. It is linked to the Primirian series There are great characters and an intriguing storyline. I would definitely recommend this book.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I just finished Beck & Adria’s story and it was absolutely amazing to revisit some of the Primarian Mates characters while meeting the new ones on Terra Nova. I had been hoping that Maddie Taylor would write their story and she did not disappoint! I would think I had things figured out but like usual she would shoot off in a completely different direction leaving me stumped on what would happen next. It’s witty, sexy, sweet and suspenseful. Not to mention it will leaving you dying to get book 2! I cannot wait to see where this series goes!
Primarian mates is one of my favorite series, and I loved catching up with old favorites to the point I will be rereading from the beginning just to relive the intrigue, romance, and heat. This book lives up to its predecessors and contains the author’s trademark ability to overlay a great storyline with characters that come to life right out of your reader. This book had me go through a gamut of emotions – fear, angst, tension, and a healthy dose of full-on swoon. Can’t wait to see where the author takes us next; my one-click finger is poised to buy!
I love how Bound by Fate offers a whole new angle to Taylor’s earlier Primarian Mates stories by focusing on a female Primarian, Adria. Past books have all played with the trope of “human females needed because our females are sterile due to various circumstances” that is all over SF/F romance right now. Instead of a story about a human female/alien male, Bound by Fate gives us the perspective of one of those alien females who can’t have children and who are building new and different lives as a result.
I frankly loved Adria in this book. Accepting the sterility that has affected so many Primarian women, she’s studied to be the first female doctor on her world. I really enjoyed how this showed her society evolving to find new roles for women, and the challenges she faces resemble so much what women in real life went through 50-ish years ago to enter the workforce in large numbers.
This is coupled in Bound by Fate with the highly protective Primarian view towards women, and what was fantastic is that Adria really doesn’t mind this at all. The stereotype in romance is the feisty female who protests her restrictions. Adria accepts them easily—she’s lived with them her whole life. She just matter-of-factly finds ways to be on her own when she needs to. This made so much sense to me. Adria isn’t rebelling against her world or its strictures or the unexpected changes in her life. She simply works with them and shapes a new reality for herself.
Beck, her hero, is a bit more of a cipher. He’s one of those “I’ve been burned by a past relationship, so forget love” guys who abound in romance. And he wants Adria but also doesn’t want to commit to her, so he frankly doesn’t come across as well as Adria does. His change of heart, when it arrives, was sudden and a bit convenient. But Beck’s personality balanced Adria’s well. He is straightforward and humorous, which complemented Adria’s more serious nature.
Bound by Fate is a good start to a continuing story about forming a joint human/Primarian colony and the challenges that creates. There’s an ominous mystery that looks like it’s going to run through multiple books in this new Terra Nova Colony series. In Bound by Fate, this mystery was a bit frustrating as there were more tantalizing teases than actual answers. But so much is right with this book, and it’s a great platform for more stories about the Terra Nova colony.
A new series from Maddie, a spin off from her Primarian Mates series, which is one of my top sci fi / alien reads – easily read as a standalone, but there are characters in her from the Primarian Mates and their connection will make more sense if you have read these, but its not necessary.
This was a great story line full of emotions, drama and suspense, a slow burn but very swoony, a very engaging plot that I couldn’t read quick enough to find out what was going on! A fabulous range of characters, I love Adria and Beckett together, they were sizzling hot!!
Adria is a Primarian female, the only one on Terra Nova, the planet being populated by both Humans and Primarians in their joint venture together. She is training to be a physic (doctor) and has nearly completed her training, dedicating her life to her work, knowing she has no chance of having a mate or children after what happened with her home planet. Beck is the main man on Terra Nova responsible for building and construction on the new planet for everyone. They met previously and had an instant attraction with each other, but Beck has no interest in a new wife / mate having been there done that, but has trouble getting the teal coloured eyes of Adria out of his head. But there is a new thread on the planet, people are dying, their bodies being sucked dry, there are fires and incidents, something is wrong and is threatening the new Terra Nova colony and all who are there, especially Adria. Can Beck protect her and save her in time?!
A fabulous read, highly recommended!
I have truly loved all of the Primarian mates books, so I’m really excited to see another aspect of the world at large show up. This time, instead of going to Primara, or having a Primarian male and human female, we are staying with the new colony of Terra Nova and we have a human male and a Primarian female.
I really like the fact that we’ve got the relationship dynamic switched up like this. It lets us focus on another aspect of the society and what can be done. Since Primarian females are predominately infertile, we get to see what it’s like for one of them when she is seeing all the babies being born and how she feels about knowing that she won’t have children and accepting that she might never have a mate. It was nice to find that headspace for Adria.
I really like Adria and her sheer grit and dtermination. She knows what she wants, and she’s worked really hard to get what she wants and to be where she is. I truly respect that. She’s stubborn and smart and very loyal.
Beck is very intelligent, driven, and darn good at his job. He’s also just a really good man. He is a little bit of an idiot sometimes, but that makes him a more realistic character.
I REALLY liked the original series, so I was super happy to see there was another one in the same world. And I also really love that it picks up where the others left off.
I loved how Beck and Adria have chemistry from the start and they grow a friendship before really starting anything. And I especially like how you get to see Adria shine as a physic or doctor.
I definitely recommend this one especially if you liked the original series!
A lovely spin-off from the series. I really liked that it was a female alien. What a unique and creative storyline. The story has everything you need to make a fabulous story. Lots of steam, tension, drama, and suspense. Don’t miss this one.
A fantastic start to this spin of series
If you read Maddie Taylor’s Barbarian Mates series, you will already have (briefly) met Beck and Adria. You don’t need to have read those books to enjoy this one, though they do give a little more background/insight into Terra Nova and why it is so important. Whilst Bound by Fate is most definitely a stand alone read, there is a story arc/mystery/peril that will continue into future books.
I loved that this had all the wonderful world building of the BM series, whilst also very much having it’s own plot and feel. I had wondered if Beck would assume a more Primarian demeanour but he was very much an equal rights and consensual-in-all-things human male. And what a hot, sexy male he is, Adria is one lucky girl.
Both main characters are not only likeable but very natural and easy to relate to. Despite being set on an alien world their story felt so utterly believable. Amid all the intrigue, peril, purple skies and colonisation of a planet this was, at heart, a beautiful and finely crafted tale of love. It was so easy to believe in the passion between Beck and Adria, to accept and feel their emotions and love.
The execution of the story is excellent, the plot flows smoothly and is easy to follow, the dialogue is natural, the pace is quick enough to hold your attention but also allows time to explore things in depth. I am only to happy to recommend Bound by Fate to those who love a well written romance and enjoy stories with a sci-fi setting.
I absolutely love this story!
It’s a great spinoff to the Primarian Mates series! With the of a woman alien and a human man. I loved catching up with some favorite characters. Adria and Beck were amazing characters! They were great together! Bound by Fate is sweet, sexy and suspenseful along with drama, mystery, twists and turns that have you wondering what will happen next! This new series looks like it’s going to be great! I can’t wait for the next book!
What can i say, but Maddie has done it again, and i loved that she has done a story for Adria. I have to say i have been patiently waiting to see if we get her story.
Adria is Primarian , the sister of Trask and she is on Terra Nova Colony to finish her coursework and clinical training. Beck Kincaid was in charge of Construction and also sat on the joint leadership council. Its not love at first sight for both of them, but a slow burn love, but with everything happening around them Beck has more desire for Adria, to keep her safe and protect her. But theres an Alien on this planet that is sucking the life out of people and Adria is his target. Can Beck save her before its to late.
I didnt want to do to many spoilers in this wonderful story because the book is just so awesome to read. It definately is a one click in my opinon and thoughly recommandable. Five stars plus..
I really enjoyed this book. an engaging storyline and compelling characters snag your attention early on while plenty of heat, emotions, drama and suspense will keep you hooked until the last page is turned. I loved the chemistry between Aria and Beck and watching their relationship evolve. A very entertaining and exciting read and an excellent start to this new series.
Oh I absolutely adored this book! I couldnt wait for the Primes sisters book and I was not disappointed. She went along with life thinking she would never have a fated mate because of her past.. then.. bam! What just happened?! I loved the suspense and the romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
