What is a dragon without a maiden?Keira and her mother disagree over what makes a good husband, but the truth is, prospects in her village are slim. So when Aaron Drake arrives in the village and sets his sights on her, she cannot help but be interested. It’s not just his handsome looks or easy confidence that captures her attention, but rather an air of otherness. Something that sets him apart.… otherness. Something that sets him apart.
But Aaron is not the only new arrival. A fire-breathing dragon has taken up residence in the surrounding mountains, and the villagers are certain that it is just a matter of time before the creature destroys them all. There is more to the creature than meets the eye, however, and when danger comes it is not from the dragon, but from one of their own. But it is Keira’s heart that is most at risk, and she must decide if she can pay the price that love demands.

Good fast read if you like Dragons (who doesn’t) always great when the bad guy really gets what is coming to him.
Interesting premise: girl falls in love with a handsome man who is also a dragon! Very entertaining read.
Absolutely delightful
If you are into dragons turning into people and fantasy, you might like this book. I struggled with getting through it and happy when I was at the end. Just not too believable but another reader might really enjoy it.
I liked the characters, the dragon element, Middle Ages economy, but stopped reading when the h left the magical dragon to return to risk and ruin near an abusive almost-fiancé.
She would obviously need more rescuing before the light dawned.
This was a great book for a fun, reasonable quick read. I believe it is part of a series, but you don’t have to read the rest of the series to really appreciate this book.
Story was great!
Author did an excellent job of character building, using old poor man’s English for flavor and staying to the target era of the middle ages. Very intriguing read and difficult to put down.
It just didn’t hold my attention. Something was missing for me
More like a fairytale with the physical transformations.
An adult fairy tale.
Fun concept, interesting read.
A fun story.
Normally I’m not into fantasy and don’t read, but when I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. The characters remind of people I’ve known in my life, both good and bad, and it brought back memories of a very special man.
Very entertaining aa different type of love story!
It was a quick read.
I just finished reading this delightful story and I think it’s a welcome switch from the same old mundane stories I’ve been reading with mostly the same plots. They are fun to read but this story was like a breath of fresh air. A temporary respite from the norm. I enjoyed the exchange between Keira and Aaron and the fact that despite all the glitches in their lives they still managed to overcome all. Also I detected just a smidgen of fairy tale as to the dragon.
While this book wasn’t quite what I was looking for, it did still spirit me away I to the adventures of the characters.
A different type of book–dragons, who knew. Great read some suspense but you can figure out the ending but it was a good read. A whimsical type of story.
Didn’t want to put it down…enjoyed the shifter elements…
