What is a dragon without a maiden?Keira and her mother disagree over what makes a good husband, but the truth is, prospects in her village are slim. So when Aaron Drake arrives in the village and sets his sights on her, she cannot help but be interested. It’s not just his handsome looks or easy confidence that captures her attention, but rather an air of otherness. Something that sets him apart.… otherness. Something that sets him apart.
But Aaron is not the only new arrival. A fire-breathing dragon has taken up residence in the surrounding mountains, and the villagers are certain that it is just a matter of time before the creature destroys them all. There is more to the creature than meets the eye, however, and when danger comes it is not from the dragon, but from one of their own. But it is Keira’s heart that is most at risk, and she must decide if she can pay the price that love demands.

I do not give 5 stars because the story is too long for me
I really enjoyed this book. It was very creative and I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. The story was so unique there was no way to guess. I would definitely like to continue reading the remaining books in the series.
Loved the story about the dragon/man and woman.
I just couldn’t get interested in the characters and finally gave up half way through the book.
This arthur will keep you turning the pages, and keeping a warm feeling from the book. You’ll remember this one.
It was adult dream book. Like a child Cat in Hat book for a child. But this book is for adult reading.
Was not my cup of tea, didn’t even finish the book.
Did not finish – couldn’t get into it, not very complex or dynamic. The characters were more stereotypes than characters.
This a sweet and beautiful book. Love the characters and the fantasy. Love it !!!
I stopped reading about 5 chapters in. No mystery, too predictable.
This book was not what I expected, it was so much better! The story line is superb. I can’t wait to read the next one.
I love a great story as much as anyone, but I also really enjoy it when a story makes me thing about important ideas that relate to life beyond the book, too.
‘Bound By a Dragon’ is a powerful story that tells of the dangers of prejudice and wilful ignorance, and of the difference that is made by accepting someone for what they are. This book demonstrates that prejudices are learned behaviours, incredibly hard to break once formed and bringing about significant consequences not just for the individual who holds them, but also for those on the receiving end.
In fact, it is fair to say that as the story progresses, the central character Keira is challenged to rethink many of her assumptions about people and the rules her society holds to so strongly. It is hard to learn to trust one’s instincts over what one has always been taught, and even more difficult to change others’ perceptions and understandings of the way things are in life.
Through Keira’s challenges and discoveries, the reader is led to thinking about the assumptions we make and the misunderstandings we carry, and how they impact on our own lives and relationships.
Through Aaron’s experiences the reader is given lessons about individuality and self-acceptance, but also about accepting the things that happen in life and dealing with them in healthy ways.
These important themes and ideas are intricately woven together to create a book that is complex and thought-provoking at the same time as immersing the reader ina distant fantasy land and being wonderfully entertaining.
The plot and premise of this book are interesting and quite original, building intrigue and suspense with some well-constructed complications and twists to keep the reader engaged in the story.
I loved the description of the country, mountains, villages and city where the king resides. You feel like you are there. The introduction of the dragons was very interesting and exciting. You never knew what to expect. Well defined physically, they come alive with unexpected events in the story historically as well as romantically. A page turner I wasn’t expecting.
This book had a great storyline and I enjoyed the rest of the books in the series. The series encompasses several generations and each book is a story from the point of view of one of the characters. It’s medieval dragon and shifters combined.
Overall this was a good book to read if you love dragons. You will read about Keira and how she is so intrigued by the Dragon that lives close to her village. She is also trying to keep from marrying Edmond because he is mean and not at all who her mom thinks he is. I did not like her mother because she was not at all taking Keira seriously. Then, one day Aaron comes along and Keira feels a strong connection to him until one day it all falls in place. There are obstacles that they both have to overcome but in the end their love wins.
Fun fantasy
Interesting premise, and no egregious errors of grammar or spelling, which puts it above far too many books. I liked the MCs, and cheered for them, but I felt the mother’s determination to ignore the man assaulting her daughter was a bit too much. The dragon family’s camaraderie felt good, tho’ their backstory made me wonder about the ethics of the Creator.
I’ll read the next one.
Predictable. Unbelievable. Easy to put down.
Loved it can not wait to read the next book. Totally original. Great character development.
I loved the concept, it was an original take on dragons. You fall in love with the strong characters. Can’t wait to read the next in the series.
