Anvil is a rough, muscled bouncer working in a roadhouse. Sarah is a type-A, risk averse actuarial major with her whole life mapped out. She has a plan. Goals. And none of them include a tattooed, possessive bouncer. She just wanted one night off from being perfect, boring, and careful. The night she steps out to try something out of her comfort zone, sneaking into a bar on the shady side of town, … the shady side of town, the alpha bouncer steps in to protect her from danger.
Danger from everything but him.
Author’s Confession: I don’t even know if this could happen in real life. Luckily, it’s a book. That means the hot, tatted, beardy bouncer can totally take one look at the virgin college student studying actuarial science and know he’s going to marry the sh*t out of her. Right?
Anyway—totally safe romance-HEA, no cheating, hero wouldn’t dream of looking at another woman after he sees Sarah. Trust Auntie Brill. It’s a crazy story, but it’s so much fun.

This was the first book I read by this author, and at first I was disappointed at how short the story was. But then I started reading, and I have to admit I was captivated right from the start. The author really does pack an entire story into just a few pages; a feat that is rare indeed and speaks to the author’s immense talent.
Anvil and Sarah meet on accident, and he is nearly struck dumb by his immediate attraction and depth of feelings for her. He doesn’t let her out of his sight – not even for a second – until his ultimate goal is achieved. He tells her what his intentions are, she explains her objection – which he takes as a prerequisite instead, and responds with “Challenge accepted!”
It’s all Sarah can do to just hang on for the ride, and what a wild and sexy ride it is! It’s pure fantasy, of course, but when it’s done right like it is here, it’s absolutely wonderful.
Bounced – Brill Harper – This is a chaos vent of opposites attract, love-at-first-sight, Fate orchestrated meet cute silliness! But it was a cute quick read! Happy Reading!
Sarah and a semi friend get into bar which they are not to be in Sarah’s friend still has several birthdays to go, she however only has two days. And when they get into the office, not even the bar her friend is there to give one of the bouncers Jimmy a BJ for allowing the in. Sarah had no clue. When a second bouncer arrives and he is big as an oak tree, with a scar on his cheek, and a patch over his eye. She is shaking all over. He was vibrating with anger at Jimmy because he had already spoken to him about bringing her underage friend into the club.
He takes Sarah’s purse from her and checks her ID. He scares her friend off with a warning about calling the cops next time, and warns Jimmy one last time or he’s out of a job. They leave and he questions Sarah more. But you start to feel this sexual tension and the he questions why she couldn’t wait two more days to be twenty-one. Her answer made sense. He gets a beer he lets her drink it in his truck. What happens next is very spicy and sweet too. You do get HEA.
Not bad for a Novella. Would have loved to read a full length story of these two.
Have Mercy!! Wowza!
Sarah and Anvil–Wow! Wow! Wow! Their story is short, sweet, steamy & oh so good!! Brill Harper you got me again and for me you are now 2 for freaking amazing 2!
Sarah was looking for excitement, a change of pace in her ordinary life–and oh boy! Anvil was just what she needed to do the trick…and then some!! Once this hot alpha, wall of muscle zeroed in on sweet Sarah–he knew he was never letting her go or giving up her up! And Sarah, she was all in! She threw those good girl tendencies out the window when it came to Anvil…and he made sure she would have no regrets!! And the dirty talk….Brill Harper is becoming the master of using words that can melt your clothes right off!! Almost made me blush…whoop!!
Anvil, all man, pure male–so direct, straight to heart of the matter…left me swooning with such simple words:
“I trace patterns on her hand & arm with my fingers. ‘ I don’t have a lot of words for you.’ She relaxes a little. ‘I saw you, and then you were all I could see.'”
Hmm…hmm…hmm…
My only thing: I knew it was supposed to be short, but I would have loved for the scenes about the family’s opposition to their situation to have been included for a little added tension…just a little, instead of just a mention, but it’s okay. This story was still all kinds of hot and wonderful!
