Book three in the all-new series of small-town slow-burn standalone novels by international bestselling author, Lisa Shelby.Emmett Ford is over the monotony of her small-town life, and her best friend turned Hollywood heartthrob Josh West is struggling to keep his hard-earned career afloat. Could a childhood pact hold the answer to both their problems? Josh could use a fake fiancé, and the glitz … fiancé, and the glitz and glamor of LA would certainly scratch Emmett’s itch for a break from the mundane. Besides, two years on the arm of America’s most eligible bachelor with a diamond the size of Texas on her finger won’t exactly be a hardship.
But there’s a dark side to the limelight that comes with being his plus one. A string of death threats leads them to hire bodyguard Max Hopper. Handsome, with a stoic disposition and the build of a lumberjack he threatens to complicate an already fragile situation.
Suddenly, two years feels like a lifetime.

Bottle It Up: (A Between the Pines Novel) by Lisa Shelby is a wonderful story to read. This is a slow burning story that I have loved reading. I highly recommend this story to everyone .
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
I never read the blurb before hand, so I wasn’t exactly sure how this book was going to go. I’m glad I went in blind as it took me on a journey. I thought that Emmett was selfless and needed to be more selfish at times. I loved that she got to have the new experiences that turned her perspective. I could see the writing on the wall even though I didn’t see it exactly. I just wish the Crew would have taken Mr. Selfish to task because who is better to do that than your friends? All in all, I really enjoyed the story.
This is such a great story. It is well written with a well developed plot. Just enough mystery and suspense mixed with romance to keep you turning pages. The characters is this book are well-developed, believable, and and Emmit and Max have plenty of chemistry. I loved them all. This is a series full of loveable characters, small town feels, friendships, great dialogue, humor, sizzling chemistry, mystery, and just the perfect amount of angst. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and I wish there were more than one.
I am absolutely in love with this series! With each new release I can’t help but love the Crew more and more. Bottle It Up hooked me immediately and didn’t let me go until… Well it still hasn’t let me go.
I couldn’t get enough of Emmett and Max. Max had me swooning and falling in love from the start and Emmett had me wanting to be her best friend.
This one is my favorite so far in the series and I can’t wait to see what Shelby brings us next from the Crew.
This book was like a slow burning fire that could turn hot and heavy in a second. And let me tell you it DID. Lisa delivered another amazing book filled with most of the characters that you will fall in love with. I’m hoping one will redeem himself in another book because I feel he has a story that needs to be told for us to understand him. Looking forward to more books in this series!
This romantic slow burn story was a page turner. Throughly
enjoyed reading this one. Have been a fan of Lisa worked for awhile and am alway excited when she has a new book. This one didn’t disappoint.
What a treat to read another story in this series from Lisa featuring another two members of The Crew, Emmett and Josh. These two have been best friends since childhood, Josh is a rising star in Hollywood, Emmett has stayed in their small town home.
Josh is hiding a secret that he feels could ruin his career so he enlists his best friend to be his fake fiancee for two years. Is it a win-win situation for both of them as Emmett gets to experience the glitz and glamour of Josh’s life in LA? Unfortunately not so much, especially when a threat arrives that means that Emmett has to have a bodyguard with her all the time. Enter the devastatingly sexy, cold and very professional Hopper who with one look turns Emmett’s world upside-down.
As the threats against Emmett get more serious Max whisks her away and keeps her under the radar and what was a slow burn love between them bursts into flames. Emmett has to decide between the love she has found and keeping her promise to her best friend.
I absolutely loved this story for me it’s the best in the series so far, full of feels but also a touch of intrigue and mystery. The characters as always are outstanding, most of Crew are loving and supportive but Josh shows his selfishness side hurting his best friend and threatening their friendship for his career. Another winner for Lisa worth five stars and more. Thank you for the chance to read this early. I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
Moral of the story: Make each moment count!
The first words that come to me after reading Bottle It Up is… SO GOOD!
Simple words, yet it says it all.
A sweet, sexy, slow burn read! The angst and banter was addicting and had me smiling. The sweet hidden moments had me smiling while reading. I just couldn’t get enough. Max and Emmett for the win.
I was obsessed from the beginning all the way to the end. I can’t give more details without ruining the story for you. Lisa Shelby has once again taken to to a world I want to be apart of. Take my advise and read the book. It was SO GOOD!!!
Lisa Shelby is fairly new to me but with each book I pick up I’m left struggling to understand why she hasn’t crossed my radar before now. I loved everything about Bottle It Up which is book 3 in the Between the Pines Series and I certainly need to play catch-up with the previous books in this series.
Emmett Ford and Josh West have been friends for many years and even when Josh moved to Hollywood their friendship survived even though the didn’t have a lot of time to catch up and when Emmett needs to get out of their hometown Josh comes to her rescue, she may need to get away but he needs a fake fiancée so why not kill two birds with one stone…..
Can Emmett get used to Hollywood life and can Josh give her the protection she needs if she stays ..
This is a story thats well written with wonderful characters and it’s not just Emmett and Josh that I fell for, I fell for the whole crew and I can’t wait to read more from this group of friends. Looking forward to the next instalment from Between the Pines.
“You want to be mine?”
“I already am…”
Emmett and Josh are lifelong best friends, who made a pact if neither of them were married when they turned 30, they would marry each other. Now that time has come, and Josh West is one of the most eligible Hollywood bachelors on the market…but his fame and fortune is coming with a price, and Emmett, reminding him of their pinky promise, comes to his rescue. Being his fake finance for a couple years doesn’t seem like the worst idea she ever had, but then again, she never counted on meeting verra large and in charge smexxy bodyguard Max Hopper…
With nothing but Emmett’s safety in mind, Max Hopper becomes her shadow and a constant reminder of all she wants in a lover…but as the threats to Josh’s career as well as Emmett’s life start hitting closer to home, Emmett must make tough decisions…to either be true to her heart or to support her lifelong friend…
Oh dear Reader, this book is tough to review without spoiling the slow burn romance between smexxy bodyguard Max and Emmett! Beautifully written with all the feels, you’ll want to bottle up all your swoons for your next book boyfriend! While the third installment in the Between the Pines series, this may be read stand alone. Highly recommend!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received via the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **
I’m a huge Lisa Shelby fan. While most of her novels are great, Blackbird still hold my heart. That’s not to say that this one wasn’t a good one too. It just wasn’t my favorite. I believe it had mostly to do with the fact that Josh is a bit bi-polar and sometimes forgetful of his own generosity. Could have been that Jace was in his ear, but it was just a little over Diva Hollywood to me.
This story while it had good intentions and had a huge amount if potential to be a full 5 STARS, I just couldn’t get with the program. I think that its partially my fault because I am a bit critical when it comes to my favorite authors. I just wanted so much more. More heated moments and more intense connection between Emmett and Max. Also, this was a slow slow burn novel. I get the circumstances, yet, how many closets are located in a house that you “occasionally” get lost in? I would have thought they would have combusted and had to use a closet or even a large bathroom? In any case when you see the object of your affection and can’t get close? It sucks, royally. I did enjoy the “DILF” side as well as the characters that we have been introduced to before.
So, while it pains me to do this, I rated it a 4.5 out if 5 STARS. I’m looking forward to the next big novel by Lisa to get my hooks into as well as copies on my bookshelf.Lisa Shelby
5 star Review Bottle It Up (Between The Pines #3) by Lisa Shelby
Lisa Shelby is a relatively new author to me and how I have not come across this author before I have absolutely no idea. From the first to the last page I was hooked with Bottle It Up. It was a romantic love story that ticked the boxes for me, with characters you cannot help but fall for.
Emmett Ford and Josh West have been friends for years, although with Josh in Hollywood they don’t have a lot of opportunities to catch up. Emmett wants to get out of their home town and since Josh is in need of a fake fiancee he asks Emmett to help out.
There were times that I was frustrated by Josh and his behaviour but overall I really liked Josh and Emmett and was so invested in the story that I stayed up late into the night to read. However when danger rears it’s head, they have to hire bodyguard Max Hopper and that is when the complications intensify. This was a well written story that I had a hard time putting down.
It was great to be back with the crew and I cannot wait to see what Ms.Lennon has in store for the rest of the gang.
