Six years before my phone rang and changed my life forever, I made a mistake.I met a girl, we had some fun, and then we had a baby. And I fell pretty damn hard for my daughter. I was going to be there. I was going to give her everything I never had. I was going to have a family. And then her mother disappeared and took my baby with her.And now she’s done it again. Because that call that changed my … she’s done it again. Because that call that changed my life was from my five-year-old daughter asking me if I knew where her Mommy was.
Then came the lawyers. And the demands from her super-rich, super-powerful messed-up family. And the little fact that my ex didn’t just “disappear” she was “presumed dead”.
I don’t live a traditional lifestyle and I’m not in a traditional relationship.
But I can pretend if I have to.
And that was the plan when my two “best friends” and I decided to hire “professional liar” Brooke Alder to be my fake fiancée.
It’s totally gonna work. As long as MY super-rich, super-powerful, messed-up family doesn’t get in the way.
Bossy Brothers: Joey is book two in the Bossy Brothers series and features a delicious, burning hot, MMFM, surprise-baby, fake fiancée story with a twist that proves committed couples don’t just come in two’s, mistakes can be a good thing, and for some people—non-traditional love is exactly the kind they should fight for.

Ok so I have to admit after reading book one in this series I thought Joey’s book would be a struggle for me because I wasn’t loving him at all! I’m telling you I couldn’t have been more wrong!! I see now that he’s had a rough road and is just misunderstood! I love how hard he is willing to fight for his daughter. It really proves that he may be the best Boston brother! I can’t wait to see where this story goes next! Love peeking into the world of the Bossy Boston Brothers!
Whoa…just when I had fallen hard for Jesse Boston in Bossy Brothers, #1, J.A. Huss goes and gives us Joey Boston. As the sexy middle brother of this eclectic family of 3, he is both a mystery and a surprise with each turn of the page. Huss gives us just enough to start getting answers to exactly what it means to be a Boston and with a very wild turn of events, I am firmly entrenched in this almost unbelievable yet very intriguing family saga.
With each brother having their ‘role’ so to speak, I guess Joey is the one who doesn’t seem to care about the family ‘business’ by getting far away and living his crazy, unfettered life in Tokyo with his besties Wald and Huck by his side. As we saw in book one, he is called back to the States as older brother Johnny lets Joey and Jesse see a side of the Boston empire he is still can’t quite fathom. But the successful entrepreneur’s life has more in store for him as an unexpected phone call completely changes his plans and now he is more than determined to find a new existence that includes a long-lost daughter.
Wow. The way this story unfolds is insane. Adding Brooke Alder as the pretend girlfriend to Joey was brilliant. She has lived her own uncertain life and actually adds a bit of sanity, which is a bit incredulous even to her, as the new center of her new men’s lives. The scheme that Joey, Wald and Huck come up with to get back Joey’s daughter leads to so much more than any of them bargained for. And let’s just say that with Huss at the helm, Brooke, Joey, Huck and Wald engage in some naughty fun only she can deliver. It’s truly amazing how Huss can combine 3 different storylines at once, have them meld together in the most meticulous of ways and also provide ridiculous heat and passion like nobody’s business. And still, it all makes perfect sense.
Watching as Joey finally finds his footing as a Boston, with Brooke as the catalyst and unforeseen partner in crime, I couldn’t help but be held captive by each well-written and engaging word. There are more than a few jaw dropping moments as worlds collide and answers to difficult questions are revealed. Not to mention the unconventional affection Joey has for both Wald and Huck (which is all kinds of super hot!) But we are not done yet. The continuing conundrum of the Boston family business is at the forefront of this trilogy and something tells me that Johnny, along with his brothers and the sharp women of Bright Berry Beach cosmetics (yeah we met them and their persuasive ways in Jesse’s book) will bring about one heck of an explosive conclusion in book three. And this reader can’t wait.
J.A. Huss always brings her A-game and with Joey, that was never more evident. Huss gives us just enough to appease our curiosity as she concurrently whets our appetites for more. That is a true gift.
Joey (Bossy Brothers, #2) is even better than book one and I happily give this book a solid 5 stars!
WOW That was one good read.
Joey take off where Jesse finished, and i think you need to have read book 1 to get the most out of book 2.
Joey is full of intrigue, chemistry and love. This’d is an MMFM read but for those not use to tyhay genre its not detailed and I think an MF read would get through the extremely hot and steamy scenes.
Book 1 left us with a HEA but also unanswered questions. In book 2 some of those questions are answered and replaced with so many more. I need book 3 now.
This is different from the first one in the series.
Joey is lost, he don’t know who he is or is afraid to discover his true self and feelings.
Brooke was an interesting character. I really liked her and that she went for what she wanted without barriers.
I have to admit that for me is a little difficult to reas this MMMF book. But this was so well managed.
I loved how Joey managed his daughter and his willingness to do the best for her.
The mystery that is “the way” and the lives of the Bossy Brothers is what I most like of this books. I can’t wait to know and understand more.
This story was …. a lot. But before I go into any of that, I should say that the story of the Bossy brothers should be read in order. There’s a family arc (which is most of the a lot part) story-line that unfolds as you read each brother’s story so do yourselves a favor and start at the beginning so when you’re hit with the madness that is this family (lol) you might not be *blinking* as much!!
For me, the best part about this book is that on the romantic side, these three men didn’t need a woman to satisfy their HEA. They were happy as is. It just fell in their laps because, circumstances …. And then it morphed into something they wanted. Their love and affection for Brooke felt more organic to me so I enjoyed it a lot more. The story/book started a bit slow for me but as soon as Joey began peeling back the layers of himself, it sucked me in and I read non-stop for hours! His quest to getting his daughter to be with him full time led him down a path of self-discovery and growth and that’s where we get bombarded (in a good way) with twists and fuckery in regards to this family.
As many answers as we get, more questions pop up. As I continued to read, I couldn’t believe the layers this story had. There were times it felt over the top with madness but only for a second because these brothers are over the top as individuals, so of course, their family arc had to be over the top. I can’t say much more if I want readers to enjoy this roller-coaster ride of a family, so I will leave you with this … Don’t try and figure out what in the hell is happening or what the outcome will be of anything with this series. Just enjoy the ride 🙂
Another great read from JA Huss that went by way too fast! .
I loved the intricacies of the relationships in this book and where the story took them. I kept rooting for them, but was really worried about the outcome several times. I liked Joey (the hero), but I think I liked Wald even more. Put them all together and Holy hotness! The intrigue from the first book carried on into this one and just keeps building and I am amazed at how well Julie does this. And even though we only saw very little of her, I still like bossy Emma best!
I highly recommend this book!
Someone call the fire department this book is in fire!!! Julie knows how to keep me on my toes with her books snd I love it. With so many secrets, one loses themselves along the way. Whether it’s fate or something planned from the very beginning, it’s all about to unravel. Joey’s book shows you that some things you can’t do alone, that you need a team. I really enjoyed Joey’s story and I can’t wait to all of it unfold.
What an amazing read! So many twists and turns. Just great writing.
Joey is the second Boston brother. He has been living overseas with his two best friends Huck and Wald for 16 years. He is home now and he gets a call from his 5-year-old daughter. He is now on a mission to get her. With the help of his two best friends, he is on his way.
Brooke is kind of lost. She has lots of secrets. She has no job skills, so she makes up a resume and hits the streets to find a job. She gets turned away a lot and she decides to try the BBB selling make up. She shows up for the interview and the lobby is packed. She gets into the interviewer to find out she is not interviewing for a cosmetic position, but a fake fiance.
Joey is going after his daughter and the best way to do that is with a fiance and a stable home. Enter Brooke, his new fiance.
I am going to stop right now. I will give away spoilers if I go any further. Just know that in true Huss form there are lots of twists and turns. Lots of spicy sex and with more than two people in this book! Lots of questions that will keep you guessing and a few answers that you had questions from Jesse’s book.
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa!!! I’m speechless in a good way! This is the second book in this series of three very mysterious and very wealthy brothers. Joey Boston gets the one phone call that will change everything in his life…His missing daughter, Maisy Kane. That is a game changer for him and his two friends Huck Newtown & Wald Wynn! He, along with his two best friends & business partners hire a professional liar, Brooke Alder, to be his fake fiancée so he can try for custody of Maisy but will his family, their secrets and others get in the way and truly let that happen? Huck and Wald might be his business partners in their company Cryptomation…his best friends…but soon they will be a lot more! This is a steamy book with many twists that will have you turning the pages so fast. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. Brooke is a feisty, strong woman with many secrets of her own. The connection between these four was written perfectly! So many new developments giving away more secrets from book one and what the Boston Brothers truly are involved in which will
Lead you to The third book and Johnny. You are going to love this one! Told in dual POV; MMFM
Wow this book is just great it continues the story of 3 brothers thisis Joey’s story he finds out he has a daughter and hires Brooke and with the help of his friends Wald and Huck go to get her with steamy hot sex and finding out they are perfect together they discover the family is involved with the Way and I need the next book x
4 1/2 stars
Woah. This series is really getting juicy. I was not sure what to expect but I was blown away. We are falling further down into the rabbit hole and we are learning more about the secrets that have been influencing the lives of the Boston Brothers.
Joey’s need to have his daughter in his life has him seeking out a professional liar. What he didn’t realise was just how much he needed this woman. Brooke was hoping to start again and accidentally landed into this group of men on a mission. But clearly this was where she was meant to be.
In some ways, I think Brooke and Joey are similar souls. Both are trying to find out who they are or, at the very least, accept themselves as they are rather than what people expect them to be. The characters can be fragile at times but also very strong. Brooke is the glue that Joey and Wald and Huck needed. Not to mention the driving force to bring the Boston Brothers together.
I had a suspicion that Joey’s personal life was going to be complicated but I had no idea how hot and steamy it would become! I loved the humour and banter between Joey, Huck, Wald and Brooke. While Huck and Wald seem like jokers, they have incredible insight and a sensitive side. They are also quite crafty and know exactly what Joey needs even before he does. The story had unexpected revelations and interesting twists. It is an engaging and page turning story. Each story so far has given us glimpses of Johnny and the burden he carries so I cannot wait to read Johnny’s book to see where all of this is heading.
Rating:
OMFG and WOW!
This is going to be a difficult review to write because so much happened in this book and it was just one revelation after another throughout the entire book. I was wondering just what type of organization Johnny worked for after the revelations in Jesse and Joey’s books. It seemed really strange to me that Johnny was in this criminal organization called “The Way” that paid the Boston’s billions of dollars every month and he had no idea what it was.
This book was eye opening in so many ways. Not only because so much of it was told from Johnny’s point of view, but also because in the previous books, his brothers have both described him as insane. They had good reasons for that since he spent years in the penthouse of that creepy 75 floor office building/home of theirs without seeing either of them. Though Johnny isn’t really insane, he might be a sociopath and he definitely is having some sort of existential crisis because he is weary and just done with being used. He wants out, but he doesn’t want “The Way” to move on to his his brothers next.
He thinks that Charlotte Kane, the daughter of a contributor and the mother of Joey’s daughter Maisy might know some secrets about “The Way” that could help him. So he takes his yacht to the Caribbean in search of her. To an island he went to as a boy, near where she disappeared that he knows a “Way” prison was built. However, instead of finding Charlotte, he finds burned out buildings and a prison dungeon with one girl chained up and nearly dead.
Johnny rescues the girl, Megan Machette, who was also born into “The Way” and has plenty of secrets of her own. Megan is technically on a higher level than Johnny since she helps her father who is a scientist which is more important than a banker. Johnny and Megan end up working together to go to another island which Megan knows about that may be a prison and could possibly be holding Charlotte.
Johnny and Megan start sharing stories of their lives and connecting with each other in ways they have never connected with anyone before. The romance between them is strange and steamy and sweet amidst the craziest of circumstances. They are both hiding things, lying to each other and have ulterior motives, but both of them are tired of being used and want to do the right things for the world and for the people they love.
J.A. Huss has a complex and devious mind and she thinks and plans so many steps ahead that it is hard to even wrap my head around. I read her book Creeping Beautiful about two months back and it was about this very sinister organization of wealthy powerful and connected families that do anything to get what they want. The group is called “The Company” and the book was about this female assassin named Indie who was trained at a young age and bought at age ten. Indie showed up in Johnny’s book at age fourteen and blew me away with some revelations about “The Way” and “The Company”. Before Johnny left her on a small boat in the middle of the ocean. So cool!
Johnny Boston, the oldest of the three Boston brothers and the one I have been the most intrigued by in this series. We didn’t get a whole lot of him in book 1, besides Jesse telling us that Johnny is the oldest, he’s kind of “out there” and he doesn’t really have any type of relationship with him. Then in book 2, Joey told us that he used to be really close to Johnny, but that all changed one day, and after their father died he became pretty reclusive and pushed both brothers away. But we did get a pretty good glimpse into Johnny’s life towards the end of that book, enough to make my head start going crazy with ideas on what exactly was going on in “the Way” and what Johnny was going to do to keep his brothers out of their clutches.
So in typical Julie fashion, she totally blew me away with Johnny and Megan’s story. I thought there were a whole bunch of secrets that I needed answers to before I started reading, but then as those secrets were slowly unveiled, a whole slew of new ones I didn’t even think of come popping up!! Johnny’s got secrets, Megan’s got secrets! Hell, there’s secrets on top of secrets! And even though these two don’t trust each other at all because they both know the other isn’t telling them the whole truth, they can’t help the draw there is between them.
One of my favorite things about Johnny’s book is the cameos and the crossover to previous beloved Huss storylines. People I never thought I’d get the chance to see again popped up and my heart did a whole bunch of pitter pattering!! And some new characters are introduced that are going to also intricately tie in with these past characters in a way I would have never imagined. It’s amazing the complex way Julie’s mind works and her ability to string all these characters and worlds together to bring readers one hell of an epic journey!
So back to Johnny and Megan. Two characters who both hold alot of secrets and whose appearances are deceiving. Megan, the innocent looking lab tech who holds a very critical key to the future of the Way. And Johnny, whose reputation precedes him but who has a whole other side to him that no one’s ever seen before, Megan being the first. Can these two forge a future together when nothing is ever certain in the world they live in?
Julie throws every kind of twist and turn into this story. I held my breath for half this book, and the revelations and secrets revealed blew my mind a time or two. I know that for the most part, the Boston brothers stories are settled, but there is still so much to come in this world that I’m dying to see what happens next!! And like I said, there is some new crossover stuff happening that made me squeal with delight and ramp up my excitement about the upcoming books!
Once again, Julie proves that she is a master storyteller, and I wish I could gift everyone a copy of at least one of her books so people could see for themselves why I love her writing so much.
Drama, action, drama, followed by surprise after surprise, followed by drama, followed by secrets, lots of secrets, followed by….
You get my drift, there is so much happening in this book, I was reeling. The plot definitely keeps you on your toes, and as with the previous 2 books you are drip fed information regarding ‘The Way’, leaving you with more questions than answers, so many twists and turns, you can’t even begin to work out the plot line, and then, BOOM! Oh what a mind you have JA Huss. I love it. I loved Johnny’s story, he’s always been a bit of a mystery, an enigma, if you will. Megan was his perfect match. Narrated by Tad Branson (he had the perfect ‘don’t give a f¥€k’ attitude), and Savannah Peachwood (who I love). I’m hooked.
Absolutely gobsmacked! Fully prepared to dislike Johnny and his story makes me fall head over heels. The dark, introverted man has a sweet, thoughtful side. Let it be said that his way of showing it has always been bizarre but Megan gets the full light show!
The ride?! Completely crazy and unexpected. The last few chapters?! Just woah! Loved it!
Some answers were revealed in this chapter of the Bossy Brothers Series. Johnny is one complex character and Megan has quite a few secrets herself. Interesting journey to follow and I loved all the twists and turns and how Johnny was vulnerable (and he was willing to show it), or was he doing it to get to Megan? Loved seeing Logan as well. Definite page turner as all of Ms. Huss’s books are. Recommend it for sure.
So I swear this book is messed up but somehow the more you read, the more it makes sense in the end. I won’t lie and say this book sucked me in because that wasn’t the case. It took me awhile to get into this and when the action kicked in, it really kicked in. Johnny is on mission and isn’t going to let a girl he just found get in his way. I have to give him credit, he’s smart and knows when people are hiding stuff and keeping secrets. He knows how to get them talking. Sure he also kills people who honestly needed to die. Megan is living the life she knew until she got played. There was a plan, it just didn’t go as they had planned. Meeting Johnny and really getting to know him, changed her. She saw the real him and wanted more in life. I loved how these two bantered back and forth along with how she fought him. She kept him on his toes that’s for sure! You sure get to know the plans of The Way and what all they are doing in their labs. There’s some sick people in the world, let me tell ya. Despite all that, a love story formed and it was beautiful.
This book blew my mind! It’s no secret that I love JA Huss and The Company books. The third Bossy Brother book answered a lot of questions and also had a lot of Easter eggs that long time Huss fans will appreciate. Johnny had been set up as the mystery brother, and this book helped explain his motivations behind his actions. And Megan Machette? She has a lot of secrets of her own. I loved every minute of it!!
Wow. This was the most F’d up plot I’ve ever read in a book. I can’t really say anything about this without giving stuff away because it’s an ongoing plot. Technically you can probably read these in any order but I would read them in order. Jesse, Joey, then this one, Johnny.
Johnny Boston was the king of his kingdom. But as we have ventured through these stories we have found him to be so much more and so much less than we believed. He was elusive, controlling and dangerous. He is still all those things but now we dig deeper to see he is just a man thrown into an unwinnable situation trying to protect his own.
Johnny goes in search of Charlotte, hoping she has the answers he needs to start dismantling the nightmare that is The Way. Instead, he finds Megan Machette in a dungeon, chained to a wall.
With the help of an old friend, Johnny storms what he believes is a laboratory where Charlotte is held. Only to find she is dead and a living nightmare is being created. The secrets are coming out slowly. No one knows who to trust. And all hell is breaking loose! Johnny’s quest, Megan’s job, and an eerie little girl are all major plays in this battle. Threats are made. An ultimatum is given. And a shock is in store for our anti-hero.
This story has so many twists that you have to hold on tight to make it through. There are answers as well as new players and many new questions. One year of the fantasy is all they will get.
J.A. Huss leaves me hanging again. Holding my breath to see what will happen next. But I don’t mind because I love this series and all of the players.
