Six years before my phone rang and changed my life forever, I made a mistake.I met a girl, we had some fun, and then we had a baby. And I fell pretty damn hard for my daughter. I was going to be there. I was going to give her everything I never had. I was going to have a family. And then her mother disappeared and took my baby with her.And now she’s done it again. Because that call that changed my … she’s done it again. Because that call that changed my life was from my five-year-old daughter asking me if I knew where her Mommy was.
Then came the lawyers. And the demands from her super-rich, super-powerful messed-up family. And the little fact that my ex didn’t just “disappear” she was “presumed dead”.
I don’t live a traditional lifestyle and I’m not in a traditional relationship.
But I can pretend if I have to.
And that was the plan when my two “best friends” and I decided to hire “professional liar” Brooke Alder to be my fake fiancée.
It’s totally gonna work. As long as MY super-rich, super-powerful, messed-up family doesn’t get in the way.
Bossy Brothers: Joey is book two in the Bossy Brothers series and features a delicious, burning hot, MMFM, surprise-baby, fake fiancée story with a twist that proves committed couples don’t just come in two’s, mistakes can be a good thing, and for some people—non-traditional love is exactly the kind they should fight for.

Scorching hot reverse harem with a ton of mystery and intrigue!
I have really enjoyed all the bossy brothers books I have read so far. I started them out of order, reading Alonzo (Book 5) first and though there were a few small references I missed, it was a true stand-alone so I really didn’t feel like I was missing out on any important information. This book, however should really be read after book 1. There were some things that happened in book one with the Boston Brothers (Jesse, Joey and Johnny) in the Bossy Building where Jesse and Joey grew up and used to live and Johnny still lives, that are important to the mysteries in this book surrounding what sort of nefarious activities the family is involved in.
Actually it really is just Johnny because he took over after his uncle died and then more so even after their Dad died and Johnny told Joey to move as far away as he could and never come back. Then Johnny used Jesse’s partying and drug addiction and the fact that the paparazzi loved to hate him in order to give them stories about Jesse to keep the focus on Jesse and away from what he was doing.
However, during the time Joey was away in Tokyo he also partied almost as much as a Jesse, just a bit more discreetly. He also got a girl pregnant five years ago. Joey had wanted to step up at the time and be a father, but the woman had another boyfriend and didn’t need or want him. Fast forward five years and the little girl calls Joey and her Mom is missing, so Joey decides he wants to get his daughter.
However, in the intervening 5 years, the mother had gotten remarried and had another child, and the stepfather has custody of both girls. The stepfather, Michael, wants to keep it that way and he has the money to back it up. So Joey and his two best friends hire a girl named Brooke, who just happens to be a professional liar and con woman with no past to speak of in order to play his fiancé. Brooke is lonely and just wants to be loved, but breaking into the tight knit group of three guys who have been such close friends “and more” to each other for so long is not easy.
This book was smoking hot and extremely emotional. It was funny at times, as all the bossy brothers books have been. But it really had a lot of depth because both Brooke and Joey were struggling with issues of acceptance and both wanted to be loved so much. All of this was intertwined with the story of the custody of the daughter as well as Joey’s family and what they do or what they are. Mafia? Secret government organization? Something more sinister? I can’t wait to read Johnny’s story!
I’m two books in and I cannot get enough of these brothers, I’ve already 1-clicked book 3.
After book 1 left me with more questions than answers I was still in the dark throughout this audio book, until the last couple of chapters when things started becoming a little clearer. Apologies though, I digress, jumping to the end prematurely, as amazing as that is. Let’s start at the beginning, Joey trying to get his daughter back, and as such he recruits Brooke to assist him as his fake fiancé. You might be thinking just another run of the mill fake fiance story, but let me assure you, it’s like no fake fiance trope I have ever read! What a story! Hot, hot, hot! Scorching hot! Sizzling hot! I loved it. As well as the super hot bedroom (or not bedroom) scenes, there’s so much drama. I was on the edge of my seat in places. Holding my breath, and waiting for the ball to drop. No spoilers here, but I will say it can probably be read as a standalone, but to get the full experience, the series really should be read from book 1. There are so many secrets, and I can feel it’s all going to come to a head, not sure how many books in before we get the complete picture, but I am totally enjoying the ride. I’m listening to the audio version of these books and narration so far has been fabulous. Joey is narrated by Joe Arden (perfection), and Brooke is narrated by new to me narrator Jill Redfield, she was spot on. A perfect duo.
I enjoyed this book. The characters and situations they are thrown into are great and keep you on your toes!
This is an action packed story with suspense, secrets, discoveries and a shed load of hot group fun! Yeah this is a MMFM book and the “fun times” are as hot as Hades. There’s a fake fiance, the life of the super rich, a friendship between 3 guys that has grown over the years but now welcomes a woman into their dynamic. The four embark on a polyamourous relationship so not just the bedroom antics and it’s cool to see how this story unfolds and these characters love each other all while trying to get Joey’s daughter back.
Joe Arden is the consummate professional, giving us depth of performance with emotion and heat. I will admit that Joe wasn’t a narrator I listened to much in the past (yes I know, shock horror) but he has grown on me and I appreciate his skill in his delivery. Jill Redfield is a new narrator to me and I loved her interpretation of Brooke. She had great timing and I particularly appreciated the seamless transitions between voices when each voice actor narrated fast paced conversations. I was loving the tempo of some of the scenes and it helped that the narration kept things moving so you felt the urgency between the characters.
I missed the first book in this series but I’ll probably go back and read it as I didn’t realise how interconnected these books are. Although each is centred around a different relationship there is a story that runs from one book to the next so I think it’s probably best to read them in order. A great audiobook with some serious steam for those that like a good foursome!!!
Hot, steamy and intoxicating. Joey and Brooke and Wald and Huck have a very interesting relationship and I enjoyed trying to figure it out. Ha! This was a good story.
Well! Things sure got interesting quickly! And holy hotness! Joey and Brooke and Wald and Huck?!?!
For as many revelations there are, be prepared for equally as many secrets.
It really hurt to give this book 2 stars. I love me some J.A. Huss. Joey’s book was really disappointing. I didn’t care for Joey, his two friends/lovers Wald and Huck, and I especially disliked Brooke. I loathed that girl something fierce and irritated the hell out of me. She felt so pitiful and annoying. Not even the hot as hell foursome could distract me.
I was also to get more of the mystery revealed that was going to totally rock me and blow my mind. I still feel just as in the dark as I was from reading Jesse’s book. Not much was revealed to further peak my interest. Maybe that’s just me.
I had hoped I would really enjoy Joey’s book, but sadly I was underwhelmed with how this story progressed. I don’t necessarily have to love ever book this author writes as much as I enjoy her steamy romances. I hope I enjoy the next book I pick up of hers.
Loved this second chapter in the Bossy Brothers Series. More secrets are revealed, but there are still more to be revealed. A family can be made up of more than the norm, a man and a woman. This story shows that and it does not matter what others think. The depth of feeling can be seen from all the main players, Huck, Wald, Brooke and Joey. I enjoyed the journey and I’m more curious to see what happens with Johnny.
Joey is the middle Boston brother. And speaking of middle, there’s a whole lotta action in the middle going on here! He has two best friends, Wald and Huck. They share everything together…a business, friendships, even girls sometimes. Joey finds out he has a daughter whose mama is missing. He has a plan to hire a fake fiancee to get his daughter back, and that’s where Brooke steps in. Of course, it doesn’t take long before all 4 of them fall into bed together. But that’s just the fun part. The serious part goes back to Jesse’s book, where we found out about The Way. What part do they play in this book? And what, if anything, can be done about them? And who TF are they? Questions and answers in this book and hopefully the next one, bad boy Johnny. 5 stars for Joey!
HOT menage story (HEA), with a side order of evil secret society intrigue! LOVED it. Cannot WAIT for Johnny (book 3) to be in audio!
The twists are twistier and the turns can make you dizzy if you don’t pay attention. Julie Huss is fabulous at twists and turns!
I have started this paragraph 4 times and deleted them all. Why? Because Joey’s story is very hard to put in a nutshell. If you read the blurb then you get a smidgeon of the story and how it lays out. But there is so much going on and so many players in this one! There are Huck and Wald, Joey’s best friends. There is a plan to get Joey his daughter. And then there is Brooke, the lost girl who is trying to find out who she is now. One mistaken interview and these four become a team.
From there you have a most erotic connection that leaves you breathless. A party that turns into a nightmare. An agonizing decision that turns into a troop gathering. The team must become an army.
More secrets are revealed about The Way. Answers to questions no one even knew to ask. Heartaches that can only be healed by those who truly love you.
I am kind of dumbfounded and at the same time elated by the revelations in this book. I cannot get to Johnny’s story fast enough!
So you start out this book with wondering what’s the story with Joey, Huck and Wald and then you add Brooke to the mix. Brooke has her own secrets that holds the appeal of her. She is a mystery for sure. I love that Joey, Huck and Wald have made their friendship last as long as it has. That in itself is remarkable but at the same time are they just friends or does more happen? This book definitely gives you that answer and more. Joey is a businessman. He has a business that he started with Wald and Huck. They have made billions off of that and then you add the Boston money to it. He’s very wealthy. The family also has it shares of issues, mostly between the brothers. Oh and there’s the issue of Joey’s daughter. This is when things take a twist. The guys and Brooke are out to prove they can care for her and that Joey and Brooke are in a relationship at the same time. They move fast with this. When it comes time to meet the daughter, stomach have butterflies and things just feel off with the situation. They have good reason and this is when the book takes a very ugly turn. Truths come out and makes the brothers rethink everything they ever knew about their ancestors.. I highly enjoyed reading this and even though I’m hesitant to read Johnny, I know I need more of this family
3.5 Stars
Joey is the middle Boston brother. Because he doesn’t look or act like Joey or Jess, he questions his place in the Boston clan. Whatever the reason, Joey found his home with his three friends in Tokyo running their own business. Now he is back in New York shopping for a pretend fiancé. The ruse began after receiving a call from his daughter, who he’s never seen. He is surprised to find that his ex is missing and possibly dead.
Brooke Adler takes her resume to Bright Berry Beach Cosmetics with the hope of becoming a cosmetics sales associate. Instead, she meets with Joey, Huck, and Wald to audition for Joey’s fiancé. She wins the job because of her lying skills. As we learned in the first book, there are tons of secrets in the Boston brothers’ lives. Brooke has a lot of secrets too, which adds to the overall mystery of the series. Brooke fits in with the trio and becomes part of an MMFM relationship.
The brothers pulled me into their world and made me want more in the first book. Jesse and Johnny make appearances in this book too as ancillary characters and to add to the mystery. Individually, Joey and his team are enticing and wild with an unconventional lifestyle. All of that is fun. The story itself feels like a bridge between book one and book three more than Joey’s story. There are so many unanswered questions, understandably, that I didn’t feel satisfied with the ending, especially where it relates to Maisy.
There is a lot of suspense, romance, twists, and hot sexy scenes that held my interest. Bossy Brothers, Joey is vital to the series. There are parts of the story that I love, especially Brooke as she comes into her own. I trust Julie to fill in the blanks by the end of the series. I so want to see how Johnny handles his mess and moves the family into a new adventure in book three.
A twist int he Boston family you won’t see coming!
This is such an interesting story line about not just a couple but about 4 people who care about each other so much, they would do anything for each other and stand by each other no matter what.
We met Joey a little bit in Jesse’s story line but now we get to find out more about Joey, the middle Boston brother. Joey has his own secrets that only his 2 best friends (Wald and Huck) since college knows. They are partners in their own business and they also enjoy partying together. When we find out that Joey had father a daughter, we get the back story of what had happened that he hasn’t seen his daughter since she was born. When his daughter calls him, Joey is shocked but starts to find out what is going on and come to find out that his daughter’s mother is presumed dead. Joey decides he wants to see his daughter and fight for custody and in order to do that, he will have to go home but he never expected Wald and Huck to come with him but is glad for their support. When they bring Brooke in to help Joey with the “family man” image so that he can prove that he is able and competent to care of his daughter, the 3 guys are all attracted to Brooke. When they finally admit their attractions and feelings, well there were so many hot scenes between them that you just want to combust.
In dealing with this daughter’s stepfather, Joey finds out that a lot of people are tired of dealing with the Boston family. Joey starts to find out more about what the “secret rituals” that Johnny has to deal with really about. Getting Johnny and the others to join forces to fight what they don’t know is going to be interesting but we will hopefully find out what is really going on and what the entire mystery is all about. It was great to see Brooke and Johnny interact and how that was shocking to everyone. I think there’s more to Johnny than what everyone realizes and that in his heart, he is trying to protect the ones he loves.
While they all work to figure out the mystery, Joey finally realizes that he loves Wald, Huck and Brooke. He realizes that he has always loved his friends but didn’t wan to admit his feelings. I can’t wait for Johnny’s book to find out what Johnny’s story but to also read more on Joey’s life with Wald, Huck and Brooke, and to find out what has been happening with Jesse and Emma and Emma’s partners!
WOW!! This series is just getting better and better.
This second installment kept me on my toes, anxious, and begging for more!
I freaking love everything about it, and can’t wait for what comes next. This series had been so far, f$%#ing spectacular in all levels. I which I could give you more details, but it wouldn’t be fair to those that want to be surprise while reading, and in all honesty, I hate spoilers.
All in all, this series is fantastic and I highly recommend that you start from book 1, since the stories are all connected and can’t not be read as standalone.
Holy crap. I am really really enjoying this series. To steal JA Huss’s words from her EOBS, “I like the mystery, I like the characters, and I like the world.” Me too girl, me too. These books have me waiting on baited breath for the next one Everytime and I feel like it gets better and better with every book.
With that being said, I really felt I wanted just a little more in this book- the ending felt abrupt and I know it went wayyy over in what JA Huss expecting but I wanted/needed more of these characters BUT I CANNOT WAIT to see where Johnny’s book takes us in this rollercoaster!
WOW!!! Ok first you really should read Jesse first before Joey, this is Book 2 of the Bossy Brothers Joey
Ok so Joey, Huck, Wald meet Brooke by accident, well kind of! Bunch of schemers when the biggest schemer of all just wanted a job….and boy does she get one and three guys.
So The Bossy Brothers, The Bossy Building along with the Bossy chicks from Bright Berry of which Brooke shows up to get a job.
So not sure what happened to my first review I thought I saved it but guess I didn’t, I dunno as weird as this book gets, that might just go right along with it.
Ok so Joey middle Boston Brother, finds out he might just have a 5 yr old kid. He had a thing with Charlotte for more than his normal one night stands which was very unusual for him, as his only constant is his two college buddies. But they had fun for a few weeks and then she is off but then couple months later she calls an tells him she is pregnant but when time comes he isn’t the only guy at the hospital, he wishes them luck and doesn’t really even get to see the baby but knows her name but knows Charlotte hasn’t picked him, he didn’t get to be in the delivery room just the waiting room and felt as a stranger seeing her with the baby and on her face told him what he needed she hadn’t picked him, she had picked this other guy. he didn’t even know if it was his child anyways so he figured let her go be happy and wishes good luck to them.
Fast forward 5 yrs and he is getting a call and its from Maisy, is it, could it be his daughter? He thinks so and Joey Boston gets what he wants and he wants her. So his buddies from college that have been together 16 yrs, started a company with Joey’s money but now make a ton on their own, however Joey is just there, not a real job or purpose in the company and I so felt this and when they meet Brooke which is a hoot in itself, she too is just drifting through life and hers has recently changed, drastically changed. You gotta read all this I’m not spoiling it but it is a doosey bunch of secrets between all these four people…
So these 4 get together to get back Maisy, she is his daughter he just knows it! Its all a plot to make up this story that Brooke and Joey that have just met will convince another powerhouse family they are engaged and been together for years and they are all friends…uuummm yeah that just friends thing well its way more than that, but Brooke really would take Joey. I will be honest in this one I kind of wanted Huck and Wald to get scared and buggy on outta there when things go Cray Cray as most Huss books do. Its got so some good scenes but I didn’t love the 4 of them together, I would have liked a separation or maybe even Brooke to have gone after Johnny because well nah I cant tell ya all that, ya got to read it.
Anyways WE Find Out a Ton more in this book BUT So Much We Still Don’t Know. Julie has weaved this Boston Brothers series to be way out there, like….did you read the Company or This Misters Series? If you didn’t you don’t get it most likely! But excellent story build up to Johnny I did like that a lot. I loved the story of all four of them going to meet Maisy, It SO NOT What we thought was coming! Just WOW Julie done went and pulled another Mindfrack on us again. I was not surprised by that but how it was brought to us.
You done gone and done it again Julie, I need Johnny’s book because I think these Boston Boys got lots of secrets they we have ZERO Clue about and we just learned some. least more than we knew.
So of you if you Love JA Huss or Julie as I call her you got read this Bossy Brothers series. Because it is great, so much story and character building in this new crazy world, just were in the world is it gonna take us! I am ready bring it!!!
JA Huss continues to surprise us with the second book in the Bossy Brothers world. We also find out more about the family’s “business”. And we get an interesting relationship between Brooke and Joey… which is always more than you think it is, and maybe more?!
Absolutely could not put it down!! Loved the twists and turns!! I just love the world’s JA builds!! I always get so invested in the stories just like they are real people! Can not wait to find out about Johnny!!
