Read as book five in the Bossy Brothers series or as a standalone book.TARALonnie Derringer is a filthy-mouthed, dirty-talking, long-distance fling.(That’s been going on for two years.)I know, I know. That’s not a fling. This might be getting serious.I think about him all the time. I look forward to our quickie lunch dates and the way he whispers in my ear every night from two-thousand miles away. the way he whispers in my ear every night from two-thousand miles away.
He’s the best boyfriend I never had.
Until I find out his name isn’t Lonnie, it’s Alonzo.
Until I find out he’s not some boring accountant with a dead-end job, he’s a six-foot-four, yoked-out, tatted-up fisherman who never wears a shirt!
That’s right, girls. He’s been catfishing me online for two… freaking… years!
And then he becomes more than just the best boyfriend I’ve never had.
He becomes my target.
ALONZO
Tara Tanner is the perfect long-distance girlfriend who lives in the Land of Far, Far Away.
She’s a blonde, bookish bundle of sexy-overachiever. A wicked little siren with a filthy mind and an eye for pencil skirts. And every time I ask her to ‘send-me-a-pic-or-it-never-happened’ she goes above and beyond.
She is, quite simply, the most perfect woman I’ve ever had the pleasure to never meet.
I didn’t set out to lie to her and I didn’t expect to meet her.;
But one day she shows up at my house, and guess what?
She wasn’t the only one being catfished for two years.
Because she’s not who she said she was either.
Bossy Brothers: Alonzo can be read as book five in the Bossy Brothers series or as a standalone story and features a sexy game of guess-who between a librarian obsessed with pencil skirts and a fisherman tatted up with mermaids. It’s long-distance fling filled with dirty-talking, sexy selfies, and safely-hidden secrets… until it isn’t.
Until the day they meet and realize… Love in the Land of fake Far, Far Away can’t ever compare to the real thing.

So now I’m caught up on Bossy Brothers until Tony comes out in audio. Loved this one! Unexpected fast-paced and fun plot. JA Huss just keeps getting better. Now I just have to manage to wait a few weeks for the sequel to Bully King.
Rating:
Even better than I expected! Dirty from the start and humorous as well.
I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book. I had planned to read it from the time I first heard about it when I got the promotional materials for the release of the book back in January but at the time it was too late to sign up for the ARC & review it, so I put it on my TBR and I just have been a bit too busy since then.
However, I did recently sign up for the ARC of the next book, in the series and they offered this one as well so I jumped on it and am so glad I did! I completely fell in love with it. Though each book is technically a stand-alone since they are about different couples, they are about two families that are interconnected through marriage and relationships.
This book is about Alonzo Dumas who is in an online/phone/text/Skype relationship with a girl named Tara Tanner where they sext and talk so filthy to each other that I’m surprised their computer chips and SIM cards don’t melt from all that heat. However, Alonzo is cat-fishing Tara. She thinks he is a mild mannered slightly boring accountant with a dirty streak, but a safe guy by the name of Lonnie Derringer. Unlike the Tattooed bad boys we used to run with before she ended up coming to Colorado and becoming a librarian who wears pencil skirts, blouses and glasses every day.
Though in reality he in Alonzo Dumas, 6’4” Deep Sea Fisherman in the Florida Keys, he rarely wears a shirt, he has muscles built from hard work, not the gym and a body covered in tattoos of all kinds of mermaids, sirens and the fishermen they lured to their deaths. Oh, and as a side job he is into some shady illegal activities with his family.
I don’t want to give away too much but I will say that Tara has not been totally honest with Alonzo either, though they are getting to the point in their relationship where they are starting to feel restless no matter how hot and steamy their calls are I suppose it would get hard to not actually be able to touch each other and be thousands of miles away. I guess you would get to a point where it would be either time to fish or cut bait (pardon the pun). That is when the fireworks begin and boy what a show they are! I will definitely be going back to book 1 and reading the rest of this series as soon as I can!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There’s so much to love about the Bossy Brothers! With Alonzo’s downright filthy mouth, Tara’s sassy attitude, and the fast-paced dialogue, this story is such a fun read!
JA Huss has a brilliant writing style that sucks me in book after book. Layered between the humor and heat is the bite of suspense and intrigue. Catfishing and secrets, nothing is quite what it seems. One-click now and enjoy this story as it unfolds!
As stated this can be read on its own, I read book 1 but then jumped straight into this one and had no trouble understanding what was going on, It took me a little while to get into their story but once I did I really love getting to know them. This was a very hot read from Julie and can’t wait to read her next book.
Alonzo Dumas is absolutely swoon worthy. And his big secret?! Did not see that one coming! Love the Bossy Brothers series and this is no exception.
Back in Key West! The gang is all here with some newcomers and not all meets the eye. Belinda aka Rosalie. Tara aka Phoebe. Past and present come crashing together for an epic ending!!
Tara Tanner has spent the past two years in an online relationship with an accountant named Lonnie Derringer. She uprooted her whole life when she witnessed something in LA and now she finds herself in Colorado starting her life over. Luckily she has made a close friend in Belinda Baker but she knows she has to be careful with who she talks to and trusts.
Alonzo Dumas hasn’t been interested in having a relationship with someone close by but he is enjoying his online relationship with Tara, even if he is catfishing. He knows his family has many secrets and has no need for a girlfriend locally that can discover what is going on.
Yet when Vann Vaughn discovers who Tara really is he takes her and Tara to the safest place they can think of – Key West with Lonnie the accountant. Yet soon she discovers that everything isn’t as she thought it was and she is shocked how everything ties in together.
Will Tara leave once she discovers the truth or will Alonzo be able to convince her to give him a chance?
This was such a great book and I can’t believe that I have been missing out on with this author!! I now need to go bac and start this series from the very beginning with Tragic!!
I wasn’t sure to what expect but there were so many layers to this book and so many secrets that were gradually coming out as the book went on and every one was another surprise or twist!
I really liked Tara but I also saw that there was a little more to her and gradually you learn about her own past and I was curious about what she saw. Tara was a survivor and regardless she was someone that I knew would adapt know matter where she was but she was hesitant to giver her trust and loyalty to anyone due to her past.
Alonzo was much more of a mystery as you knew right from the beginning that his family was involved in something yet you had no idea what it was until the end. I liked him even though he was deceiving Tara but I could see that he was changing towards her as he began to slowly tell her things about himself.
I knew things were going to explode when Tara reached Key West but I was totally shocked as more things were revealed and began to tie together. Things were definitely mysterious surrounding Fort Collins, Colorado. I was shocked at who else was in Key West and why and then things took a turn that I wasn’t expecting!
I have never read anything about the Boston Brothers so I was super curious about them and I definitely need more now! I really liked Jesse and he made me laugh a lot. Johnny is definitely intimidating and it’s obvious how much power and reach he has.
When Tara revealed to Alonzo what she believed what was going on I understood where she got that from but I also completely understood why Alonzo was so mad that she would think that and was upset.
The end was super mysterious with Angelica and I am really curious to know more about her and Wendy!
The end was great and I can’t wait for Tony and Belinda’s story next!

Now I’m not sure how it happened but this book just made my love the Dumas and Boston families so much more! Knowing what they do and the lives that are changed because of it, makes me seriously love and respect them more.
You get a hint of what’s happening between Tara and Alonzo but you go so much with this book! They are fantastic at phone sex and role playing! My God they get some hot steamy scenes going on! There’s more to them then just the characters they pretend to be.. Alonzo especially. It is crazy about this book is how things are played out. It’s amazing how two characters on either side of the country can meet up and see the same organization plans in action and take it totally different ways.. Her and Alonzo obviously have a connection, they just have to get the secrets out first. This was a great book with lots of tension and action packed!!! Oh him and Tara have a steamy time in the bedroom as well!
I’m loving the Bossy Brothers Series and think this is my favourite so far. It was well written and different from so many other romance books.
Alonzo was a great read. It was funny, steamy, and mysterious all in one. The chemistry between the main characters is HOT from the very start, maybe a little over the top at times but that made it even better.
I recommend you read the earlier books but you could read as a standalone. This books is a must if you are planning to read Bossy Brothers #6 Tony.
An absolute must read page-turner. It’s very well written, amassing characters and a story line that pulls you in from the very beginning. I loved Alonzo and Tara. Their story is full of twist and turns, ups and downs and more that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
This is the fifth book in the Bossy Brothers Series, an amazing romantic suspense. I love these interconnected Series with intertwined characters. This story is great and intriguing. Impossible to put it down! I loved to follow Tara and Alonzo journey. They are great together, and they share a sizzling chemistry. The storyline has a great pace, the characters are great, and easy to like. The story has mystery, secrets, lies, humorus, and twists and turns. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to read Tony, the next book in the Series. I highly recommend this book the this Series.
I liked this book so much. I found it fun. Yes, there are secrets and lies but there’s also banter and the twists make the story much more fun. It’s steamy and sexy and passionate and I couldn’t put it down.
Alonzo and Tara packed some smoking hot heat! In addition to the humor and the explosive chemistry, there were also secrets and hidden agendas. Who’s luring whom, really? I loved their snappy dialogue and the different twists in their story! Sexy, funny, and intriguing!
Boy howdy. I’m loving this Bossy world and these Bossy and Dumas Brothers. Lonnie is hella hot and Tara is sweet and sexy. Their relationship goes from the frying pan to the fire halfway through the book and I could not put it down after that! Plus, Alonzo gave me some answers that kinda ties up some things, and opens up some other questions that will be coming up in the next books. I’m super excited!!
Alonzo is the fifth book in Bossy Brothers and is the first book that I have read in this series. This book can and was read as a standalone! But now I want to go back and read the other books in this series!
This was the best phone sex book that I have read! Not that I have read that many books that had phone sex in them. I loved reading those scenes. They were so good!!! Alonzo and Tara met thru a dating site and they have now been dating for a few years online. Things happen and bring them together in person and then there getting together was electrifying! (hence telling my family to leave me alone and let me read) Well I didn’t really say that but I wanted to!
There are some twists and turns to this story that kept it interesting!
Now I can’t wait to read Tony’s story but things are delayed due to Covid -19. Understandable but disappointing! In the mean- time I will be reading the first books in this series.
I did receive an ARC for Alonzo but when I found out that it was available on Kindle Unlimited I read that version instead. Why not let the author get a little somethin, somethin… for it.
I also will be reading the rest of this series on KU! I have Jesse on it and waiting for me to read it! Alonzo was 5 star worthy for me! Loved it…..
For two years they have made each other laugh, smile and all hot & bothered but had yet to meet. One terrifying moment sends Tara, along with her friends Belinda and Vann running. And where do they end up? Why at Alonzo’s (Lonnie’s) front door of course!
The secrets that come to light from almost everyone involved are shocking and then make ya think “Ah-ha!” It is an eye-opener for anyone who has read this series so far as well as a few others by J. A. Huss.
I so loved the scenarios that Tara and ‘Lonnie’ cooked up over their chats, texts and facetime calls. Hot does not even cover it at times. They are a match made in virtual heaven.
Every time I read one of Julie’s books I am so blown away by her mind and the places she takes us. Bossy Brothers Alonzo is another of those twisty turny mind-benders as well as a fun and exciting read. I am highly anticipating Tony now!
Catfished, online lovers, fate?
This was an odd one and a story I couldn’t connect with or the characters, it was hot but the plot wasn’t grabbing me all that much until near the end.
The characters meet online, developing a relationship for two years, they face time, have sex chat but have never met and neither are who they say they are until they realise they are more connected than they thought because they never talk about their real lives.
It was different, hot in the right places and I’m not sure honestly if I liked it or not.
It’s one you will have to judge for yourself. I haven’t read previous books in this series but found myself more interested in the other characters so I would definitely have a go at reading the other books in this series.
Leads to hea and can be read as a standalone.
3.75 stars–ALONZO is the fifth instalment in J.A. Huss’ contemporary, adult BOSSY erotic, romance series. This is Alonzo ‘Lonnie Derringer’ Dumas, and Phoebe ‘Tara Tanner’ Covington’s story line. ALONZO can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.
NOTE: I have not read any of the previous story lines, and I felt a little lost going into this particle arc of the series.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Lonnie and Tara) ALONZO follows the enemies to lovers/ relationship of lies between Alonzo ‘Lonnie Derringer’ Dumas, and Phoebe ‘Tara Tanner’ Covington. Alonzo Dumas had been catfishing Phoebe Covington for close to two years but to both of their shock, anger and total surprise Lonnie Derringer and Tara Tanner did not exist. Phoebe Covington has been in hiding for close to two years, and meeting Lonnie Derringer online gave Phoebe something to look forward to but Phoebe’s life is about to spiral out of control, and along with her best friend Belinda (aka Rosalie) and her co-worker Vann, the trio head to Key West, Florida where Phoebe aka Tara’s life will take an ominous turn. What ensues is the building relationship between Tara and Lonnie, and the fall-out when secrets and lies, and a case of mistaken beliefs forces Tara to reconsider everything she thought was the truth, and is now a lie.
The relationship between Tara and Lonnie is predicated upon numerous lies. A two year, long distance online romance involving sexting and phone-sex begins to dissolve when our couple is hoping for something more but something more means revealing themselves to one another, a reveal that comes with heart break and pain. The $ex scenes are erotic, intimate and intense.
ALONZO is a story of secrets and lies. Both Lonnie and Tara are not whom they present themselves to be, and their equally questionable stories will eventually back fire when the truth is revealed. While Alonzo is reluctant to reveal the truth and the depths to which his secret entails, Phoebe aka Tara, is under the mistaken belief that Alonzo is involved is something seedy and dark. The slow building premise is engaging and entertaining (once you get past the long-distance, online, somewhat tedious, affair); the romance is provocative and dirty. Most of the secondary and supporting characters have been introduced in the previous story lines including Johnny, Joey and Jesse Boston.
Alzono, a hot fisherman, pretends to be a mild accountant online “dating” with sexy librarian Tara, who is too sexy to be a librarian. Seems both of them are “catfishing” each other but it’s really fun to read what they do to each other. Of course besides pretending to be other people, there’s more to what these 2 are in real life.
When they find out who each other really are and come face to face, they are more volatile than they were online! And this wouldn’t be a JA Huss book without it somehow tying this 2 people with something that they don’t want people to know. The conspiracy continues and it’s connecting people that you wouldn’t expect it to. I can’t wait for more!
In typical JA Huss fashion I was hooked from the very first page. It’s been a while since my last book by this author and I’m super pleased that I decided to start reading her again.
Alonzo and Tara were combustible together. Their banter was hot as hell. I loved the mystery that’s Lonnie’sjob and how close this family is. After finishing this I’m super excited that Tony’s story is just around the corner because I’m dying to see what happens to him and his HEA.

Alonzo was an amazing roller-coaster ride! 4 stars
Oh my goodness, I laughed out loud in the first chapter then the first twist was revealed, and I knew this was going to be an amazing roller-coaster ride! As the author explained, this is just a story about 2 people with secrets who come together as a team. And what a team they make! As the blurb said, Alonzo and Tara live 2,000 miles apart but have been “together” for 2 years since they met online. Alonzo was much more than a fisherman, and Tara was more than a sexy librarian. They both have secrets, but when Tara seeks out Alonzo after her life explodes everything turns upside down yet feels right. They feel right together, and their chemistry crackled from the beginning! I loved them together! But when secrets start to be revealed and collide I literally said out loud, “WTF is happening?!” It’s one of the things I love about this author: she makes me care about these characters, drops revelations, makes me question my sanity, then puts everything back together better than it was before! So if you want a wild roller-coaster ride of secrets, revelations, emotions and love then read this book!
