From New York Times Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a sexy new standalone novel.
The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn’t exactly make a good impression.
I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date.
He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice.
So I told him to mind his own … advice.
So I told him to mind his own damn business―his own tall, gorgeous, full-of-himself damn business―and went back to my miserable date.
When he walked by my table, he smirked, and I watched his arrogant, sexy ass walk back to his date.
I couldn’t help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked.
When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out.
But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us―telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood.
My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.
When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I’d never see him again.
I mean, what were the chances I’d run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again…
What were the chances a month later he’d wind up being my new sexy boss?

Oh my word I absolutely loved this book but of course I am quite a fan girl for Vi’s books. This couple is funny right out of the gate with there witty, sarcastic banter in a restaurant hallway!
Chase and Reese have a funny, awkward first meeting when he realizes she is on a date from hell and crashes it. Now he pretends to be from her childhood and makes up the most ridiculous stories imaginable. Reese’s date goes from bad to strangely entertaining ! What are the chances that they will ever cross paths again …obviously good when he ends up as her boss a month later! What a fabulous funny sexy ride !!

Enjoyed this one very much.
I love this book. I read it once and fell in love. It had such great dialogue by the characters. The story was entertaining from front to finish. My book decided to read it last year. It was a hit with everyone. Then a couple months later I came across the audio book so I reread. It was just as great the second time. Haha now it was on sale kindle this month so I’m very soon going to be doing read number 3. I was fairly new to vi Keeland when I read this. Since then I’ve read everything I can get my hands on by vi and Penelope Ward. So good!!
*5 Stars*
Finally got around to reading this one. And first off, lets admire the cover. Vi Keeland has a knack for delivering the best covers, I mean, yummmm.
This was a really great story, and I loved the banter between the characters. Chase was amazing, and his ability to come up with these “I’m so far-fetched, I’m believable” stories was hilarious.
I was hooked on this book from that start, and I loved reading it. Behind all the banter and hilarious moments were plenty of feels too. This one had it all and I highly recommend.
This was one hot book
I loved the character of Chase!! He is a smart, kind, protective and successful man. He has issues that he still really hasn’t dealt with until he meets Reece. The way he pursues Reece is nothing short of hot!! I loved when he would ask Reece if it was after office hours when he wanted to flirt with her.
Reece is a woman who knows what she wants. She also wants to avoid some missteps she has done in the past but Chase isn’t making it easy. I loved the wonderful relationship she has with her brother.
4.5 stars since I only give 5 stars to books I read twice.
I really dont care for romance books but Vi Keeland has a way of writing that keeps me engaged in the story even though the ending is predictable and I already know how the story plays out.
First time reading this author. I listened to the audio book. This is a contemporary MF romance between Reese and Chase set in the USA. I had no real connection to the main characters. A lot of miscommunication or no communication.
Overall a good book. I like the author’s style of writing. The story started off with a funny, witty dialog, then added some steamy scenes. As the story progressed, the drama/tragedy seemed to be more intense than what was originally introduced and I felt the story shifted.
Great read! Vi Keeland’s books are always a surprise. They are so much more than a quick rom com. They have wonderful characters, in depth storylines & so much more!
Great story! More than I expected
Great plot, keeps you reading.
I absolutely fell in love with Chase and Reese! How they met was comical, how their chemistry blossomed was sweet and satisfying and how their relationship faltered but held strong until the end was heart warming!
Chase was one of my favorite heroes ever written by Vi Keeland. He was quick witted, smart, sexy, charismatic, sweet and most of all, broken. He rarely showed his vulnerability but it was always there, lurking just beneath the surface.
Reese was such a bad-ass heroine! I loved her spunky personality, her give zero f*cks attitude and her ability to hold her own. Her career driven independence was what I loved most about her character.
When Chase’s past continues to haunt him and block his ability to move forward with Reese, everything comes to a screeching halt and both characters have to figure out if they’re better off alone or can get over the hurdles of their pasts together.
The ending of this read was absolute perfection and I was so happy to see how these two ended up… happy, successful and still enamored with each other.
I didn’t care for this book. It bored me and too to long to get interesting. I was more than half way done before any if it got my attention. Actually it kept me teetering on the edge of interest. Just when I was about to give up on it and not finish it something would happen to peek my interest. Unfortunately it wouldn’t last and I would find my mind wandering again. The ending was cute.
I enjoyed this book. The only negative was that it dragged a bit around chapter 27. All in all a good read.
4.5 strong stars!!
this book gets a 4.5 from me !
I loved it ,it was so funny and sweet and omg super Steamy !
I loved how Chase and Reese meet ,it was so funny how he over heard her ask a friend to fake an emergency to get her out of her awful date ! and he calls her out on it and then pretends to know her and they end up doing a double date right then and there ,it was hysterical the stories he made up about his and Reese’s fake past ! i loved their connection and it was great when she ends up working for him and he keeps trying to get her to date him and when she finally gives in is great!
p.s. Chase is amazing at dirty talk ! i was totally blushing reading this book !
one thing i would have changed is the ending ,i mean he asks Reese to marry him but we don’t get to see her actually say yes or see her tell him about the baby ! i mean i know she’s gonna say yes but i actually wanted to read but besides that i really enjoyed this book 🙂
I absolutely fell in love with Chase in this book. It’s been a long time since I had a “book boyfriend” and he totally fit the bill. Handsome, smart, witty and a little mischievous, he is my kind of guy. The story flowed beautifully and there were many laugh-worthy moments. It was my first Vi Keeland novel, but it certainly won’t be the last.
Vi Keeland…you are the Bosslady of books. I just adore you and your characters.
It didn’t take long for me to add Chase to my list of fictional men I love. Just like the description in book he is “smart, cocky, hard, but sort of soft at the same time”. Just the perfect, perfect combo of alpha and sweet.
Vi also knows how to weave the perfect web of witty banter and a sexy build up then toss on a big dollop of sex. I just gobble up everything she writes.
All of that and a message we can all benefit from.
“Don’t focus on the what ifs. Focus on what is.”
