What great fun characters. The honesty between the main characters was something I really enjoyed. The story had great ups and downs. The banter and chemistry kept me turning the pages. It was light-hearted and altogether just fun and easy to read.
I really can’t wait to read the next brothers book.
This is a enemies to lovers office romance. Sonia is working at an office and Brad is her boss. Brad is hot, but a bit of a jerk. Sonia is uptight and needs to enjoy life more. These two have so much chemistry and the sparks fly between them. I liked how the two were each others match in different ways. A good read that I recommend.
This was a really lovely book. The characters were great, the vibe was fun, and it was just a really light, enjoyable read. Highly recommend!
This book was so much fun. It left me giggling and with a huge smile on my face.
I love the story and the dynamic between Sonia and Brad.
I confess, I was in a reading slump and nothing was really doing it for me, but this book hit the spot.
Great story, great characters and great writing.
I loved it!
For Sonia, her boss was someone she absolutely could not stand, sure she loved her job, but sometimes dealing with Brad was more than she could handle.. hence her homemade dart board at home. She knows exactly how Brad dates, she is after all the person that sets all those dates in motion, right down to the flowers she orders. When Brad is in need of a HUGE favor, Sonia at first says no, that it’s not in her job description, but she sees the opportunity for Brad to owe her a favor and she knows just which one she will ask, to be her plus one to a wedding. Sonia believes that having a date rather than going stag or even her fav option not going, will be better when facing her ex and the Barbie he replaced her with. But what happens when a fake boyfriend starts to turn into a real one? When the real feelings start to become involved?
I really enjoyed this story. The back and forth play between Sonia and Brad was done really well. I feel like maybe I missed a book before this, not really sure I’m gonna have to research that and if not, then Charles and Becky’s story should be told. With some really nice drama, some good naughty bits, and a few giggles, I give this 4 stars.
Quick, cute read. If you’re looking for a rip your heart out and leave you lying on the floor tear fest, this book isn’t for you. If you’re in need of a cute story that will leave you with a smile on your face, then start clicking. New to me author but I’m sure I’ll read more from her cause sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
I was pleasantly surprised reading this new author. I laughed out loud at Sonia and Brad and their interactions between boss and secretary. I read this book in 1 sitting enjoying every page. Then turned around and read it again. This is what I love in my books. Humor , chemistry off the charts and a family of characters that brought out quirky to loving to do much humor. Low on angst , but this slow burn didn’t need it. I will buy all of this author’s books. Now I have Mason, Brad’s brother new book out! Buy this book!
Boss I Love To Hate is different than any other office romance I’ve read. The spark and attraction is not immediate. In fact, Sonia had been working for Brad for two years before their relationship moved beyond anything other than boss/secretary. Though, this made it a little difficult for me to transition from friendship to more in my head. Once beyond that, I loved how hard Brad tried to convince Sonia that she was different than any other woman he had been with before. Our heroine was incredibly stubborn though and it took some time. Once there though, their relationship progressed fast and was completely unstoppable. I would probably recommend this to someone looking for an office romance that moves at a slower pace than most.
Bought it, read it, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!
This book just called to me. I had never read a Mia Kayla book before but something about the cover just called out to me. I didn’t buy it the first time I saw it. Or the second but the third time, my fingers would not take no for an answer! Bought it, read it, LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT! I swear I read it with a smile on my face the whole time I was reading it! Friends at work would comment, “what are you reading? You are smiling out loud!” It was that kind of book!
It’s the story of Brad and Sonia. He, the notoriously good-looking executive owner of Brisken Printing Company and she, his efficient executive assistant hired to avoid his amorous charms. He couldn’t keep an assistant; she was hired by his brothers, the other owners of the business, specifically because she was unavailable. Their staccato banter alone made the book! Believe me!
Their romance started when he had to ask her to help his niece to buy “feminine supplies” and she weaseled him into doing her a “favor” of accompanying her to a wedding where her ex was bringing his new Barbie doll girlfriend. The womanizing bachelor soon realized that he was looking for more than a great lay; the secretary who threw darts at a blow-up marketing photo of her boss was seeing another side of him she did not recognize.
From beginning to end, this was a beautifully written story. And, I became an instant Mia Kayla follower. This may have been my first Mia Kayla book but it certainly not my last!
Boss I love to Hate is such a fun read. I couldn’t put this one down. I love the banter of Sonia and Brad. They will have you laughing out loud so much. They will also have you fanning yourself over their ways. I love seeing the bossy side of Brad and the sweet side he is with his nieces. This book is a fantastic office romance that you won’t be able to put down. You really feel the pull build between Sonia and Brad from the very start. This is just a sexy giggle fest that you won’t want to put down.
This is a top 15 Amazon bestseller with a crap ton of 5-star reviews. So…am I the problem here? Why didn’t I love it like everyone else?
Plot overview: Sonia asks her sexy jerk of a billionaire boss to be her plus one at a wedding so that she doesn’t have to look like a loser in front of her ex and his new girlfriend. It’s an office, billionaire, fake relationship, enemies-to-lovers romance.
The main problem with this book, for me, wasn’t the writing. The writing was perfectly fine. I took issue with the characters.
First of all…Brad. He’s the lesser of two evils in this book, as far as I’m concerned. Here’s what I didn’t like about him:
1. He’s kind of oblivious that he’s not being a great boss. He asks Sonia to do stuff that a secretary shouldn’t have to do, and he’s stingy with the “atta-girl’s” and “thank-you’s.” There’s not much defense for that.
2. Up until Sonia, Brad is a “I want comittment but once I have sex with a girl I completely lose interest in her, oh poor me” kind of dude. I have no tolerance for that kind of assholery.
Sadly, my problems with Sonia are WAY more extensive…
1. She apparently complained to anyone who would listen over the years about how awful her boss is. Meanwhile, she’s over paid, stays in the job, and consistently talks about how much she loves it at the company. I have no tolerance for wishy-washy whining.
2. If you think your boss is asking you to do things that are outside your job description, why not tell him so? Or report him to HR? Sonia didn’t do either. She chose instead to go ahead and do the stuff that’s outside her job description, then whine and bitch about it behind Brad’s back. Not a real mature choice, Sonia.
3. Sonia is actually pretty consistently awful to Brad. I know I’m supposed to think she’s “spunky” with a “take no bullshit” attitude, but she’s actually just bitchy. I have no time for bitchy heroines.
So, while it was far from the worst thing I’ve ever read, I didn’t enjoy this one and won’t be sticking around for more in the series. It’s too bad, really. It had so many of my favorite tropes…

I enjoyed this book. Sonia and Brad’s personalities are fun, loving and challenging. It is a roller coaster ride and the sparks fly. I can’t wait to read Charles and Mason’s story.
A delicious office romance… I really really enjoyed this one.
Brad is one of 3 brothers running Brisken Printing Company and Sonia is his secretary. Picked out by his brothers and with strict instructions NOT to sleep with Brad, Sonia has been running his office quite efficiently for the last 2 years. She secretly calls Brad ‘BILK’ – Boss I’d love to Kill and even has his face as a dart board at home. Brad however is not as bad as she portrays him to others. Yes, he can be quite annoying and selfish, but when you read on it is revealed Brad is a great uncle for his nieces and he is searching for the right woman. He is ready to change.
When Sonia finds out her ex-boyfriend is invited to a wedding she is in, she is shocked and upset. She is not over him and needs a fake date – pronto. When Brad owes her a favor, she cashes in!
I just loved the slow burn between these two. We get both POV’s and that gives us more insight in Brad. His ‘bad behavior’ according to Sonia is more told than shown. I liked his interactions with his brothers and nieces and how he was falling for Sonia and became so uncertain of himself.
A great story and I look forward to the book about brother Mason. Hoping we get (a lot) more glimpses of Sonia and Brad. (2019)
Fantastic Story & Audible Listen A Heartfelt Delight!
Boss I Love to Hate
By: Mia Kayla
Narrated by: Alex Kydd, Sarah Puckett
I loved this book, it was a delight to listen to from start to end. This is my first Mia Kayla book and it will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style and the original storylines she created, they are interesting and captivating. Once I started the book I did not want to put it down. Her characters are realistic and well developed. I adored Sonia from the start, how she stayed true to herself and spoke what was on her mind. It was hysterical how she vented her anger when her boss pissed her off, labelling him a BILK, badmouthing him to her friends and family and while playing darts. When Sonia finds out her ex is invited to her friends wedding she needs to find herself a date to show him she moved on. After coming to the rescue for Brad and his niece she asked him in return for her help he has to help her, be her date for the wedding. Sonia starts to see the human side of Brad and she finds he is not as much of an arse as she thought. Brad, who had already determined being a player with the woman is not cutting it for him any more. Sonia shows him how much of an arse he was to her, he finds out everything she said about him including her dart playing. He is a good sport about it all and starts to look at Sonia in a new light. I loved how their story played out, their love of their family playing a big part of their lives to him showing her that her exes’ girlfriend was not an upgrade. These two were really good for each other. Too bad their was a clause in her contract stating no sexual relationship can happen. I highly recommend this slow burn, office romance with a side of humor, there is plenty of drama, great humor, some angst, twists, heartfelt emotions and sweet romance. Thank you Mia Kayla for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett and Alex Kydd are wonderful narrators. They brought these characters to life, gave each their own voice and personality. Each did an amazing job projecting the emotions of the characters in their performance as well as the drama of the story. Sarah’s Sonia was awesome, you could hear her strength and conviction, great keeping up with the banter and landing the humor. Alex, did a great job humanizing Brad. Thank you for this greatly entertaining listen
My first Mia Kayla book & it won’t be my last. I really enjoyed it!
I loved this book! Sonia’s friends thought Brad, her boss, was a BILF (taken from the acronym for MILF). She thought of him as BILK (with the K standing for kill). She had a picture of him on her dart board. However, when she needs a date to her friend’s wedding to show her ex she’s over him, she asks Brad to help her out.
The romance and the story was excellent. I love the enemies to lovers trope, and especially the “he never looked at her, but once he does, he’s smitten”. And both Sonia’s and Brad’s family are excellent characters, and definitely add tremendously to the story.
I can’t wait to read Mason’s book
4.5 stars for Boss I Love to Hate: An Office Romance by Mia Kayla. This is my first book from Mia Kayla and it will NOT be my last. This is an enemies to lovers story and man is it a great one. It is also an office romance so if you are a fan of either of these troupes then this book is for you. Sonia and Brad are great characters, who have a great banter. Sonia really does not like Brad at the beginning. She is a bad ass heroine who doesn’t care about Brad being gorgeous or rich. She calls Brad BILK- Boss I’d Like to Kill. She is still getting over losing her boyfriend to some sexed up bimbo.
She makes a deal with Brad, and soon she begins to learn about the man Brad really is. They both start to see each other in a different light. “He looks at you like you’re his whole world, and he would do anything to keep you in it.”
This is truly a great book , that has dual POV. I can not say enough good things about this book and I look forward to reading more from Mia Kayla. O and I love the cover. It is extremely hot .
Boss I Love To Hate is such a fun, cute story. It is loaded with snarky humor. It is a real enemies to lovers romance that shows how narrow the line between love and hate is.
“Truth was, this was my fault. A lie that had snowballed into an avalanche, and now, I was asking him to lie for me again on our double date.”
This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to discover more of her stories.
-5 Stars!-
I loved Brad and Sonia’s entire journey through all of the awkward, laugh-out-loud and swoon-worthy moments. Boss I Love to Hate was written perfectly!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
