To the Boss I Love to Hate,1) I hate that you make me come at your every beck and call.2) I hate your gorgeous cocky smile, and how you don’t know me at all.3) I hate the way you stare at me as if I was your most precious thing.4) I hate your expensive Italian suits.5) I hate our one-night fling.6) I hate that you’re always wrong, but your ego is too big to see it.7) I hate how awkward you acted, … it.
7) I hate how awkward you acted, when I told you I was pregnant.
8) I hate how you crept into my heart, and how deeply you cared for me.
9) Lastly, even though you represent everything I hate…
I hate that I fell for you just like every other girl you know.
Sawyer West… I love you, and I hate that I love you.
If only I could be certain you’re no longer the boy from college I once knew.
With our baby girl on the way, could we truly make us work?
If only we weren’t so different, then maybe things could be so different…
P.S. – I still hate working for you.
Berlin Roth
more
Berlin is a lawyer who spends a lot of time protecting low income housing from being swallowed up by developers like Sawyer. As the two of them fight about her current crusade, they also start falling in love. Its a bumpy road, but this couple is really good together!
Uptown Guy with a Downtown Girl
Sawyer (inherited his family’s business as a developer) and Berlin (a justice fighter and public defender) both attended college at the same time yet traveled in different circles. Sawyer was a young man who was born rich and an easy ride to college. Sawyer was the typical college guy who is handsome with charm to schmooze any woman he wants…. an he’s had plenty. The one woman that he truly likes but never had a chance to get close to was Berlin. Berlin is a fighter thru and thru! Berlin has a passion burning in her heart and a battle in her belly to fight for the rights of those who are being taken advantage of. Although it is a noble fight sometimes the system that is fueled with money and power can at times be overwhelming but her tenacity and determination to make a difference is what fuels and drives her. Berlin was not a party person at all but dedicated to her dreams and goals yet she has heard of Sawyer and have actually seen him in action a few times and was truly not impressed.
As the years go by life circumstances have molded these two adults who are not enmeshed in their professions one by blood and the other by choice and are on the path to a collision when Sawyer’s desire to develop high priced property comes at the hefty cost of hard working men and women who can’t afford to lose their homes and don’t make enough to move to another apartment complex. This sets up a steamy slow burn between Sawyer and Berlin who are not only dedicated to what it is they are fighting for but are blindsided by a chemistry that is unexpected yet annoying and semi welcomed 🙂 Travel with journey as they each walk thru this minefield of getting to know each other on a very real level while they fight to complete their objectives without it destroying what they are nurturing between each other. It can be nerve wrecking when stepping outside of our comfort zones but in making those steps to meet destiny you find the journey well worth it!

London James has written a story of two college students, Berlin and Sawyer, who meer again years later. Berlin is a public defender serving as a community advocate to prevent evictions of individuals and families from their apartments. Sawyer is now the developer who wants to build town houses where the apartments exist. As they negotiate this situation, the couple find attraction and eventual love. I recommend this book with its vivid descriptions, strong and well developed characters, drama, angst, strong emotions at times, and sizzling chemistry.

This book was fantastic! It is the first book I have read by author London James but I will be purchasing more! Sawyer West and Berlin Roth were wonderful characters and their chemistry was off the charts. This book was about a woman named Berlin that fights for those with no voice. She fought tooth and nail through college and law school to be the lawyer she is today. On the other hand is a man named Sawyer. He is a billionaire and has had everything handed to him on a silver platter. How do these two not kill each other in the real world? This book is a must read! You won’t be able to put the book down! I highly recommend this book and author!
A compelling, inspiring, passionate read! The story line is well though-out, funny, witty, and emotionally deep and will captivate you from page one and hold your interest until the very end. The characters are likeable; their chemistry is potent and off the charts; the steamy scenes are well written and detailed. There are ups and downs, back and forth between the characters making it an interesting, enjoyable, and sometimes frustrating read. A great read you will not be disappointed in and is strongly recommended.

This is a great sort of second chance romance, at least as far is Sawyer is concerned! Berlin is the girl he couldn’t get in college and now he is determined to have her! Great story line filled with drama, intrigue, loyalty and tons of passion!
Sawyer and Berlin knew each other in college, well more knew of each other. Years later they run into each other when she’s defended people to help them stay in their homes, that has been bought by Sawyer’s company. She works at the public defenders office as well as an advocacy for those that can’t help themselves. Sawyer’s company buys buildings, tears them down and builds high rise condos, everything Berlin is against. As they get to know each other they find that they have feelings for one another and a chemistry. As their relationship progresses and unfortunate event happens and Berlin is struggling more than she was before. Sawyer comes to the rescue more than once for her. She makes him a better man as he grew up in a wealthy family and she didn’t. He was ignorant about people living in low income housing and she has opened his eyes to them (in a round about way). With their differences in morals for the people in low income housing they have huge disagreements and there are times they go days or weeks without talking or seeing each other. I got hand it to Sawyer for putting up with Berlin. To me she acts like a spoiled little brat when she doesn’t get her way. I mean she just wants to call it quits and leaves without allowing explaining or anything on Sawyers part. Sawyer is a great character and Berlin is an ok character. I mean she would be great if she didn’t act like a kid EVERY TIME they disagree. I mean once or maybe twice but not every single time. I’m sorry I couldn’t handle that I would’ve told her off. Other than that and the fact that Berlin never apologized for the way she acted nor did Sawyer call her out on it the book was great!
I received this as an ARC for my honest and voluntary review.
Good romance highlighting compromises and couple relationships
It’s a good simple and predictable romance, but with hot moments and some twists and turns. The characters are very attached to their convictions which are contrary, which makes their relationship more intense: he is a boss and expropriates people to develop his business, she doesn’t have so much money because she takes care of her father and she’s a lawyer who defends those who are expropriate. At university, he tried to seduce her, and she always avoided him, but when they meet again (she doesn’t know that he is the one she is fighting) she decides to let him a chance, and their bond sparks. But this relationship, made up of so many oppositions, remains fragile and requires a lot of compromise.
