Zoey’s been doing everything in her power to keep Sunnyside Retirement Community open for business, but her residents don’t help with that a lot. She’s had more than her fair share of threatening messages from the bosses, but she’s kept the place afloat with sheer will and steel determination. However, that might not be enough. The bosses have arrived in town, and they’re out for blood. When the … blood.
When the lead boss goes missing, Zoey has to figure out who’s behind it, put a stop to it, and keep her retirement community open.
Before the doors are closed. For good.

All is a mess at the retirement community. It looks like the bosses want to shut it down, new member not quite fitting in, and someone’s magic is going haywire. Just another typical day? What else can happen is this wonderful world of retired magical people?
If you have read this series you will love the next installment. If you have not, then go ahead and read this one to start. You will not be lost, have a good laugh, and enjoy a wonderful introduction to a new series, that you will want to go back and catch up on this uniq1ue and fun series.
Fun and fast , easy to read. Even in one day or sitting depending on how fast you read or want to get it done. This book can be read as a standalones.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
This review is for the audio book.
I loved this book. This is book five and even though I loved book one, the series has gotten better as each book has come out. I think this is because of how well we get to know the great characters, which in my opinion make this such a fun and interesting series. Don’t get me wrong the mystery was good but it is the way the elderly residents get involved in helping with the investigation that make it so unique and enjoyable. I hope it continues.
Zoey has her work cut out for her looking after the elderly residents at the Sunnyside retirement home for witches, so the last thing she needs is for the boss to come for a visit to discuss finances. A number of residents powers are playing up and causing havoc, which is normal for a day in the life of Zoey but it happens just as the bosses turn up. Unable to deal with them she lets them wander around the place and soon discovers the big boss, the man threatening to close the home, goes missing. Was he caught up in a spell gone wrong? Or something more sinister? Every body at the home becomes suspects and once again the elderly residents hatch a plan to find the missing man. But things don’t go to plan and Zoey finally finds the piece and quite she wants when she gets to spend time in jail for his murder. Can the gang find the real culprit and save there home?
I really like the narrator she has the right cadence and gone for all the characters, making the story a pleasure to listen to.I
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This book has it all, murder, magic, mystery, a little romance, and a lot of loyalty. I love how all the residents and staff are like family. Nothing can break them apart, not even the threat of shutting down the retirement home and a murder. Zoey and Steve are terrific at taking care of the residents and will do everything to protect them. This series is so wonderful and heartwarming.

Boss Blues is a well written quick read. The characters know when to fight for and support one of their own in every book and this book isn’t any different. I enjoy the antics of the characters as they try to solve the case. Zoey and Steve makes the best team to lead this retirement home.

Love This Series!
I like cozy mysteries in general, and I’ll admit that paranormal cozy mysteries are my absolute favorite. That might actually have started with this series. I actually adore this series by Paula Lester. All good cozies are quirky, but this series takes it far beyond that. It is also whimsical and charming, especially as we get to know all the denizens of the paranormal retirement community over the course of the series. But all of that is threatened in this installment when the bosses of the place show up and threaten to shut it down. One of them even goes missing. As always in this series, there is some misfiring magic, which is always fun. I like the viewpoint character, Zoey. She has a light-hearted attitude toward her charges and the center, but she’s always looking to do her best for them and is truly dedicated to her job. If you like paranormal cozy mysteries and appreciate humor and whimsy, start this series from the beginning and binge read. You’ll probably love it like I do.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Sunnyside a safe haven for any species of old magic wielders, who have no place to go and no one to care for them, might close it’s doors.
The owners are here to inspect the old age home and to close it when one of them is murdered and Zoe is accused of the crime.
What will happen to Zoe?
Will Sunnyside really close?
Will the magical mischievous residents let that happen???

I love this series and all the characters. They crack me with their antics. That have became one huge family and have each other’s backs. Can wait to see what they get into next time.
This is a great series that I have enjoyed since book 1. This paranormal cozy mystery can be read as a stand alone, but each story is progressive and is better if read in order.
Zoey finds herself yet again, in the middle of a murder mystery. With the help of her boyfriend Steve and all the residents of Sunnyside and their mischief, things finally work their way out.
Written as a comical story line, with awesome characters, easy to visualize detailed descriptions, and entertaining dialogue. 3rd person narrative with a completed mystery ending.
Would I recommend this book? Yes
Would I read more from this author? Yes

The owners of the Sunnyside Retirement Community are coming to visit and check it and evaluate the work of Zoey and Steve and their crew.
In passing she hears that at least one of the owners plans to close the facility. When he goes missing, his partners do not seem to be overly worried, but when the police gets involved Zoey becomes the mains subject of having done something to him.
The usual chaotic life leads to ups and downs in finding out the truth.
Entertaining and at times hilarious – I wish I could be at that retirement home, either working or being retired. I
I always love coming back to the community. It is always a lot of fun!

Is the retirement home for paranormals going to shut down? On the day Zoey’s four bosses come to look over the retirement home chaos erupts. Between the new bossy resident, and the djinn’s magic going screwy, and her friend wanting her to come to her shop, Zoey never does meet with her bosses until later in the day, and then one of them is missing. After six hours his wife and two other friends/owners of the retirement home don’t seem concerned. Until his body is found not far from the home. He’s been murdered. Now there is quite a few people who could have done it. His partners, his wife, or one of the residents whose magic was going haywire. Zoey is under suspicion so she needs to clear her name and find out the murderer. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
