It’s better to have loved and lost, they said. They were wrong. Ruby Freedman hasn’t left the small town of Amor in four years–not since her husband died. The memory of his fateful accident was enough to cause her to sell her airplane, and never ride in a car again. Then Parker Loveland comes back to town. Now she has to add him to her list of things she intends to avoid. After years away, … to avoid.
After years away, Parker Loveland is back in Amor to celebrate his parents’ thirtieth wedding anniversary. He has worked hard to escape the clutches of his hometown, but when he runs into Ruby, the only girl he cared about in high school, and the only one that ever stood him up on a date, he’s torn between the embarrassment he felt more than a decade before, and his desire to be around her.
Caught between memories of the past and fear of the future, it will take leaving Amor to help Ruby and Parker find the second chance they didn’t know they were looking for.

From heartbreak, to healing, to a second chance.
There is so much heartbreak and pain in the first part of the book. Having recently lost a parent and having struggled with infertility I can empathize, in part, with Ruby’s pain.
Parker’s return helps Ruby to heal and gives her a second chance at love and family.

An emotional second chance romance.
This book is so good but it will make you cry!
After losing her parents and then her husband, Ruby shut herself off. She sold her plane and couldn’t force herself into a car, so they only places she went to were accessible by walking or by bicycle. She had friends and her brother get things she couldn’t carry or she had them delivered but she never went anywhere in a motorized vehicle and that was just the way it was. But then Parker came back home and challenged her at every turn, not knowing her reasons behind her actions. But she couldn’t deny their attraction anymore and things were going to have to change.
I have to say, I wasn’t really a fan of Parker for quite a while. He was stubborn and more than a little selfish. But then he finally saw what she’d gone through and what he was putting her through.
This is the second book in the Borrowing Amor series and does read better in the order it was written.

I am so much thrilled with this story. After starting it, sleeping the night, I had to finish it before doing anything else.
I think the struggles Ruby is facing after 3 deaths is so true to life. Some people just are so bound up with fears that they isolate themselves. But Parker comes back into her life & it’s “game on”. He is just the right person for her. He has his issues that create a little “hick-up” & that is needed for him to get over his “marriage has to be perfect”. You have to read this story. Kate Bellemore is one of my favorite authors.
She hides away since the loss of her parents and her husband, she also had miscarriages. So hides away from it all and she only uses a bike to get around with. He arrives back into town and he wants to help her. Can they form a friendship? Will he pull her out of h we loss? See how they get on

The second book in the series called Borrowing Amor, and I want to read the next one. Ruby has had to go through a lot but now she has to move forward if she is going to heal from all of it. She meets Parker this is their second chance reading this story come together kept me turning pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Ruby is afraid to fly and afraid to ride in a car after her parents died in a car accident and her husband died in a plane accident. Parker had a crush on Ruby in high school, but he never got over her standing him up for a date. When he realize it is the pain of her losses that causes her recent actions to him like saying she can’t stand the smell of his cologne and breaking off a date because she won’t get in a car, he feels bad for the way he treated her. Parker was jerk to her at first. I was surprised that Ruby would go on an overnight trip with him when she didn’t know him that well and she hadn’t been in a car in four years and that he would invite her knowing he had only book one hotel room. There were plenty of funny moments in book that overcame some of the awkwardness. Ruby’s sister-in-law Zoe was funny and deserves her own romance.
This is the second book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone I think they are better read in order. This was a really good read it is a well written second chance romance but it is quite an emotional read so you may want the tissues handy. A great read I really liked it
Borrowing Love #2 – Personally I would read this book after reading Borrowing Time, it’s the before to this after story. This is a sadder, more toned down book than Borrowing Christmas. I liked all of the characters, especially Zoe; but Ruby, poor girl, had a hard row to hoe. She lost all her family except her brother and four years later is still lost. An old high school friend comes to town and shakes her up. The good storylines moved at a fast paced keeping the reader’s interest. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through Booksprout. 4*
Borrowing Christmas #1 – This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed the storylines. The characters are interesting, funny and sincere. Many good things happen in this cute, quickly read second chance at starting over and a first for romance. Learning to trust is difficult when coming from a bad background, but buckling down instead of under is most of the battle. This story is better than I expected. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*
Borrowing Time #4 – It was difficult to read this book since I had already read the third book of the series; spoilers. I actually think this book should be read before Borrowing Love since it’s about how Ruby and Clark met and their romance. Of course, I read them backwards and I suffered since I knew their future already. A quick, entertaining read with interesting storylines and characters, humor and dogs. This is a good story but Borrowing Christmas is my favorite. I contacted the author to review her books and received this book through her newsletter. 4*
Second Chance Romance Hot Air Balloons and New Mexico
This story is all about second chances. This is not the trite story that I was expecting. It is cute and clean, but it is also a 2 hanky read. There is a bunch of sadness to get past in order to get to a second chance. It is a haunting story that makes the reader want to comfort the characters. I received this book for free and this is my honest review.
