I really enjoyed this book and hope to read more books by this author
Enjoyed this book!
Loved this book. tugged at the heart strings.
An excellent story. Yes! There was some sex but tastefully so. The story moved at a good pace without waffling on about the same thing. Very Inspiriting.
An enjoyable read. I like reading about how broken people deal with what life has dealt them in spite of odds against them. Okay, this story is a unrealistic, but I love the idea that good people come out on top. I’m a firm believer hardship builds character and with hardship comes the ability to recognize good times. Thus, I enjoyed this book …
Loved this story! More than the typical Regency love story as it had depth and meaning. The author did a wonderful job of weaving the characters and plot to make me not want to put the book down. I look forward to reading more if her work.
This is how historical romance should be done! These authors (May is a pseudonym) offer up the whole package — action, interesting characters that actually grow through the book’s progress, very nice, clear, fast-paced writing, and a well-constructed plot. This is a story that’s worth your time.
I read this years ago and have just re-read it after reading The Promise, in which we are introduced to Millicent as a supporting character. Stayed up (too) late to finish.
Here Millicent gets her HEA. The loss of her estate seems unavoidable due to her late husband’s debts. Then she unexpectedly receives an offer from the Dowager Countess of …
Lovely and well written. The characters don’t entice me enough to revisit. But the book wasn’t bad. There were some things that didn’t make it outstanding. Her PTSD was never addressed. I know it’s cliched to say an abusive relationship is like a war zone. But abuse victims do suffer from instinctive reactions, nightmares/insomnia, and getting …
Didn’t hold my attention and couldn’t even finish
I was surprised that I liked this book so much. Great characters throughout and I love the dedication of the heroine to right wrongs done by her previous husband.
Great Book and easy to read. A Widow, Millicent Wentworth, is trying to pay off the debts of her deceased husband, as well as freeing his slaves that he mistreated and giving them jobs on the estate. Her money is running out and Duke Hyde is doing all he can to take her estate away from her. Duke Lyon Aytoun, crippled by an accident and being …
I love a good Beauty and the Beast type story just like the next person and this didn’t disappoint. There were a lot of characters and points of view (which I didn’t care for) and the slave part of the story could’ve been left out too but I liked the romance.
I loved this bo,
Not one of my favorites, Hated the ending, leaves you hanging, for the next book,
Borrowed Dreams – Wow! This book has a lot of things going for it and I am completely in love. This is my first May McGoldrick book I have read and I don’t know how I’ve never read any before now. I have been missing out. This husband/wife author duo make a fantastic team. The story is so well written and just seems so… I don’t know… …
Nice story but too descriptive on the sex scenes
This book was a good and easy read. It was also very romantic.
This was one of the best books I’ve read in a very long time. So different . Exciting with so many twists and turns. The characters we fasinating. I will be looking for this author again.
I read the positive reviews for this book and decided to order for my Kindle. I was not disappointed. I now have read 3 of McGoldrick’s books and find her books to be different, but in a good way. I loved Millicent immediately and grew to care for the H as he struggled to recover. Some parts heartbreaking – slavery, abuse, drug addiction. I …
