Surrender is not survival.
Claire is desperate. Her once thriving city lies in ruins. The strongest of the three human dynamics, Alphas, have grown feral. Common Betas circle like vultures. The lowest in the hierarchy, rare and weak Omegas like Claire, are being destroyed. Sheltering amidst a dwindling enclave of frightened Omega women, Claire cannot provide enough to feed them all; her friends … her friends are starving.
All due to one escaped convict’s violent rise to power.
Shepherd is every bit as ruthless as his reputation suggests, but Claire cannot continue watching her friends suffer. Her last recourse is to beg the most powerful Alpha in the city for aid.
Up close, the sheer size of Shepherd, the raw power of the man, terrifies her. But he may be her only hope.
Before she can render her plea, Claire’s disguise and careful plans fail. Despite taking every possible precaution, she is captured. The moment the Alpha senses her, Claire’s worst nightmare is realized: Shepherd, discovering a rare Omega in his midst, claims her like a prize, forcing a pair-bond that ties her to him forever.
Claire becomes his.
Shepherd keeps his wayward mate locked away where only he might enjoy her and refuses to help her fellow Omegas unless they, too, are irrevocably bound to favored soldiers of his choosing. Claire cannot allow such a thing. She fights her instincts and his will, because no matter how many times he’s knotted her, how manipulative the bond might be, she despises what he’s done.
She escapes.
And Shepherd vows he will hunt her down – ready to burn the city to ash if he has to. Because Claire is his. His mate.
The first book in Addison Cain’s exciting, raw, and suspense-filled Omegaverse trilogy is a dark tale with explicit sexual themes and complete power exchange. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

Love this dark romance. Appreciate that it’s more “realistic” to human nature, not all lovey-dovey. No HEA here.
One of my favorites. Has everything a book needs to suck you in and begging for more
This is a series I come back to again and again!! I really can’t say enough about Addison’s wonderful world building, as well as character development. Each character stays true to themselves and develop before your eyes. Relationships may be dark, but they are realistic in how it isnt a bed of roses. I think that is one think that definitely has me obsessed with her writing, real plausible reactions from very well thought out characters and plots!
No one writes Omegaverse like Addison Cain, and Shepherd is my favourite Alpha!
I feel into these books like a rabbit hole
Love Addison and all she writes!
After reading this book I immediately found everything I could find that Addison Cain had written and read it all. Love her writing style, her worlds, her characters. If you love ALPHA males in your books read anything Addison has written. Best ALPHAS ever.
Best Omegaverse… ever!
A brutal, in your face read that won’t let you tear away. Claire and Shepherd are a very refreshing couple of “heroes” that keep you on the edge of your seat. Step out of your box, your comfort zone and read this bad boy!
This book was absolutely amazing. This omega verse will keep you intrigued in this dystopian universe. It had the most amazing sex scenes. I can’t wait for part two of this series. A must read.
Addison Cain has skillfully built a dystopian world that is fraught with danger and intrigue. Nothing is sacred; no one is safe. I loved this book. It is the first installment of a very dark story that is one of my favorite series. Be forewarned that there are many scenes that are graphically brutal and some are sexual. If you are a reader who is triggered or offended by such content, this is not a book for you. Please believe that the light at the end of the tunnel IS another train. Welcome to Tholos Dome.
By far my favorite books ever I own all four and still go back and reread the books or just parts when I need a Clair and shepherd fix #knotlover
No joke.. I have reread this book about 20 times!
It’s one that gets stuck in your head and won’t leave!
The characters are raw and gritty. The story breaks you into a million pieces and then puts you back together.
This is a must read, but prepare for Shepard’s claws to sink in.
Made me want to read every other book that Addison Cain has written!
This was my first Addison Cain book and it made me into an Addison Cain Addict. This author has an uncanny ability to create such vivid imaginative worlds for her readers. I fell in love with Clare. Finally, we get a strong female character who is not afraid to fight for what she believes in even in the face of horrible odds. Can’t wait for more from this wonderful author.
One hell of a read. If you like Alphas uber-dominant and your Omegas feisty and helpless (to a degree) this series is definitely for you! Absolutely adore this book.
This is a totally new genre for me and I was, and yes, still, a little apprehensive about it. However, despite the actions of this hero, I enjoyed this story and I’m curious to see what happens next. As many reviewers have shared, Shepherd does something at the end of this book that is quite unforgiving for many readers, myself included. But somewhere in the back of my mind I want it to be not exactly as it seems. I do enjoy a bit of a twist in the books I read and I’m hoping that I will find this to be the case in this situation. I know it’s bad, I know there’s got to be some truth to what he did, but I’m a hopeless romantic and I know that Shepherd’s actions speak of more than what is on the surface.
So, I’m going to move forward into the next book although some of what I’ve read about this genre scares me at what might happen in the future. While there is much that I don’t think I’d like at all about Omegaverse, I do love the all alpha hero and if I find that twist and if this series ends up with a HEA, I’ll count it a win. I’m nervous, but I’m moving onward. Eek!
This is a great series
Dubcon and noncon aren’t normally my thing. I’ve read several of them, and they’re not stories that I can get into. The blurb on this one sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a go. After reading it, I can’t say that I enjoy the dubcon/noncon aspect of the story, but the story itself is really good. You get drawn into the characters and the plot. You know when you hate a character with the fire of a thousand suns that the author has done their job (for the record, I’m not referring to the female protagonist). The negatives for me, again, the dubcon/noncon aspect, but if that’s the kind of story you like, then that won’t be an issue for you. I’m not sure the world building in this one is as strong as I’ve seen in the other story I’ve read from this author, but I don’t think it detracts from the story. I’ve definitely bought book 2, so that should tell you how strongly I rate the story.
An addictive new world I stepped into when I opened this book. Addison Cain masterfully created a post apocalyptic world and characters I quickly fell for and left me wanting more! Antihero and Alpha Shepard and Omega Clare caught me by the throat and would not let go. Luckily this book was the first of a series and I immediately one-clicked the next in line. I read this book in one day and did not want to put it down.
