Surrender is not survival.
Claire is desperate. Her once thriving city lies in ruins. The strongest of the three human dynamics, Alphas, have grown feral. Common Betas circle like vultures. The lowest in the hierarchy, rare and weak Omegas like Claire, are being destroyed. Sheltering amidst a dwindling enclave of frightened Omega women, Claire cannot provide enough to feed them all; her friends … her friends are starving.
All due to one escaped convict’s violent rise to power.
Shepherd is every bit as ruthless as his reputation suggests, but Claire cannot continue watching her friends suffer. Her last recourse is to beg the most powerful Alpha in the city for aid.
Up close, the sheer size of Shepherd, the raw power of the man, terrifies her. But he may be her only hope.
Before she can render her plea, Claire’s disguise and careful plans fail. Despite taking every possible precaution, she is captured. The moment the Alpha senses her, Claire’s worst nightmare is realized: Shepherd, discovering a rare Omega in his midst, claims her like a prize, forcing a pair-bond that ties her to him forever.
Claire becomes his.
Shepherd keeps his wayward mate locked away where only he might enjoy her and refuses to help her fellow Omegas unless they, too, are irrevocably bound to favored soldiers of his choosing. Claire cannot allow such a thing. She fights her instincts and his will, because no matter how many times he’s knotted her, how manipulative the bond might be, she despises what he’s done.
She escapes.
And Shepherd vows he will hunt her down – ready to burn the city to ash if he has to. Because Claire is his. His mate.
The first book in Addison Cain’s exciting, raw, and suspense-filled Omegaverse trilogy is a dark tale with explicit sexual themes and complete power exchange. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

Absolutely love Shepherd even though he makes me want to scream in more ways than one! Born to be Bound will keep your attention and have you begging for more.
Poor Claire.
Poor omegas.
Will the women of this world survive Addison?
I know I probably wouldn’t.
I really liked how dark and twisted this book was. I can’t wait to read more in Addison’s world.
OMG this book!
Addison Cain just…wow! I’ve read dark before but never this dark. Never this twisted. And to think its a whole different world….man on man if you don’t have strong stomach, do not read this book! Cause over the edge the author will push you! But i need more. I need more of this Addison Cain’s world. Cause as much dark and twisted, Addison Cain captivated me so easy from the first chapter
This is my first book by Addison Cain, and to be honest I’ve had it on my Kindle for ages, and never quite got round to reading it. But I’ve had a bit of time and decided to give it a go.
I’m not much of a Dystopian fan, I just haven’t read many of these types of books, so maybe I was put off a bit by this at first. So glad I persisted though!! This is more of a blend of dystopia / horror / sci fi / captive/captor & dark erotic, all set in a very descriptive apocalyptic world type setting – quite unlike anything I have read before, but was very intriguing and within a couple of chapters I was hooked!!
Claire’s world has been overthrown by the ultimate of evils, an Alpha called Shepherd, a ‘product’ of their worlds criminal population in the ‘Undercroft’. His rule, along with his Alphas Betas and Followers, is brutal and violent, destroying anything in his path.
Claire is a rare Omega, a much smaller and weaker species. Very few are left alive and these are dying of hunger, so Claire turns to the only person she believes can help, Shepherd himself. Things don’t turn out as planned for Claire, she is captured and held by Shepherd, who ultimately pair-bonds with her against her will, claiming her as his.
Be warned, this is a dark erotic read, full of violence, rape and a host of other trigger types. This is not for the faint hearted, this is not a nice easy read, this is the real deal!!
I loved both Claire and Shepherd in this, they are poles apart in their thinking, and how they were raised and lived. This has shaped their lives to how they are now. Shepherd is the ultimate Alpha badass antihero ever!! But good God I loved him as much as I hated him!! Claire is strong in her beliefs and views, fighting her corner for the greater good, and the evil that is Shepherd.
Full of plot twists and turns, including a truly savage turn of event I had not seen coming, which I must say definitely threw me for a loop. This made me think about what I would do in that situation, and the more you find out, the more sympathy you have for both Claire and Shepherd. With a massive cliff hanger that was just, like, erm no way, I am so glad all the books have been released and I can read them all in one go, otherwise I might have been tempted not to even look at book 2 in this series.
Savage, violent, brutal, dark and disturbing – all in all a hell of a read, straight on to book 2 for me now, I just can’t put it off!!! What a debut read, certainly one I won’t be forgetting for a long time!!
I’ll note that I’m generally not a fan of dystopian settings however I gave this a try on a friend’s recommendation.
Overall I liked the book, I loved Shepherd even when I hated him (there were definitely moments of hate with him). Claire was amazing and pulled me in completely. I also enjoyed seeing the other characters–whether I hated them or not. My main issue is that the character development was a little lacking. Since it’s the first book I’m going to see what else happens but I’m hoping that with more time we’ll see better development.
The world building was good overall, especially as this isn’t a genre I generally don’t read. It peaked my interest and kept me reading. I hope it will develop more as the series goes on.
4 stars!
Where to begin? Addison is a new author to me that I discovered in an author takeover. I am sure glad I found her because this book captured my attention from the moment I read the blurb until the last line was read. This “Omegaverse” is new to me. I either go for angsty or Dark but with one common theme- Strong Alpha men what rend to be bastages but are redeemable. This book delivered and then some. LOVED Sheppard (even though he does something despicable -he better redeem himself!) Loved Claire. It ends on a cliffhanger but the next book is out. I am a huge fan. Cannot wait to dive into the rest.
I have to be honest and say that then first time I read this book I put it down after a few chapters, because I couldn’t make sense of the world. I had never read anything in a Omegaverse world. After getting some details about the wold I tried again and then couldn’t stop reading. It is hard to discribe this book, because it is a book by Addison Cain and she always writes about these great unique worlds with complicated characters. You have to read it to experience it yourself
Original story with dark and broken characters….this is a dark, twisted romance with explicit sexual content.
I personally enjoyed the series…looking forward to more from Addison Cain.
This is a awesome very well written, original series!! I am enjoying it immensely!!
omg. U MUST READ THIS SERIES
Dark but so good.
Loved this book! It truly moved me. I read all three in the series and am anxiously awaiting the fourth. Action, violence, lust, sex, you name it, this book had it. Does not end the way you think it will. You won’t be disappointed!
Wow! I could not put this book down. I read it for free on KU & I immediately had to buy the next two books. The current 3 books are a trilogy but I thin there are more books in the works.
Total mind f#@& – that is the first thought that comes to me that can even remotely describe this journey!
It started slow, heck I wasn’t even sure I wanted to go past the first chapter -then suddenly I was in the story.
You know, when you find yourself arching your brow, or nodding your head not even realizing you are subtly acting out the scene.
… Nothing could have prepared me for what was to come.
So many twists and questions and hidden plots and heck I don’t even know which way is up anymore.
I got to go .. Book 2 is calling for me
