This cowboy romance is an emotionally gripping and very appealing read that draws readers in and holds them captive throughout. The characters are strong, vibrant and stand out, demanding attention while their romance is sweet and passionate with lots of sizzling chemistry and emotional angst. Finn is a bit reluctant to recognize his attraction to Jessie due to his past but he can’t help himself from seeing to her needs.
Although the plot is a little slow in some places, it is mostly steady paced with some faster paced excitement as it draws to a close and has thrilling suspense building throughout the story as the plot thickens and the danger grows. Some surprising twists adds to the excitement of the story and some evil charisma ensures that Finn and Jessie meets some roadblocks in their search. The ending of this story also adds some excitement and heart tugging conclusions that Finn, Jessie and their family needed. While this story is a standalone story in the ‘Montana Strong’ series, this story involves a family and readers may find that reading the first two books adds to their enjoyment of this one.
I liked Finn & Jessie’s story and I enjoyed revisiting the entire Monroe family, especially Mac and Mary Pat. I know this is the final book in the series, but I would love to read more about Jessie’s Aunt Nola to see what her future holds.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy from NetGalley.
From foster care to being adopted and living on a ranch sexy, cowboy lawyer Finn Monroe meets his match when Jessie Blair first enters his office in Haller Creek. This story is full of romance with a family of sexy cowboys. I really liked Finn, a lawyer, who immediately falls for Jessie Blair as she tries to find out what happened to her Aunt Nola, who has gotten married and disappeared.
Jessie is such a strong character that you cannot help but like her independent spunk and the sparks that fly between her and Finn. The love Mac has for his three adopted sons is remarkable and their journey from their breaking into his house until the present day was very emotional.
This book was so full of suspense that I was not sure what was going to happen next or how the story would end. I really enjoyed the epilogue to the story and I cried when I heard Mac’s story. What a great romantic suspense. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Montana Strong #3, We are back one last time with the Monroes. It can be read as a standalone but I enjoyed the series as a whole. Finn Monroe a small town lawyer part time cowboy wasn’t alway lucky to have this family, after the death of both parents the brothers were split up in foster care where they each had a hard time making each of the boys foulmouthed troublemakers. When they ran away they lucked out and found Mac Monroe’s ranch. Mac knew how they felt he gave them a home and taught them what it was like to have a loving home environment. It was also the influence of Zachariah that Finn grew up to be a lawyer.
When Jessica walks into Finns office he knows better than to believe what she says right off the back. Her Aunt, the woman who raised her, is missing. The last she heard from her she had ran off and got married and was going on her honeymoon. That isn’t like her Aunt at all for as long as she been with her Aunt she’s has been married to her ranch. Then when the PI she hired, a former FBI agent died in an accident right after calling her to tell he he found something she knew her suspicions were right but nobody believed her. Finn wants to believe her something about her story rings true but it isn’t until after he does some checking on his own that he fully believes her especially after the motel she was staying at and her rental car catch on fire after talking to Finn. Finn brings her home to the ranch at least there there will be someone with her at all times. But this goes deeper than just Jessica’s aunt and Finn stirs up a whole lot of trouble.
I loved the relationship between Fin and Jessica. Finn has a strong work ethic and initially didn’t want to get involved with a client but something about Jessica wants him to bend his own rules for once. Jessica feels guilty over what happened to her aunt thinking it never would have happened if she had still been living on the ranch, and now she’s willing to risk her own happiness to make sure her aunt is never vulnerable again. Overall, it was a great read. I love R.C. Ryan’s attention to detail and her descriptions for me, someone who has never been to Montana, it makes me want to visit all the same time feel like I’m already there while I read it. I love the familial relationship this whole family is wonderful.
What away to end a series, but with a bang. The author did an amazing job and keeping you in the edge of your seat the whole book. I have really enjoyed every book in this series and this book didn’t disappoint. I love how the author took a group of “misfits” and made them family and made them the most important to each other no matter what. I really like Jessie and how she fit with the group but also that she was strong independent and wouldn’t take nothing from no one and no one was going to stand in her way of protecting her aunt. I was not a fan of Chief Tyler I so wanted to reach in the book and strangle him…ugh. There is one sex scene in this book. Overall this book was amazing and hard to put down, I really wish there was more to come, your seriously can’t go wrong with this book or this series. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
3.75/5 stars
This is the third book in the series but the first I have read of the series and this author. Each book can be read as a standalone. I liked the book. Jessie and Finn were good characters. They had good chemistry between them. There was romance but it seemed to be more mystery and suspense as they were looking into what happened to Jessie’s aunt.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A heartwarming third book in the Montana Strong series. Finn Monroe, youngest of the Monroe brothers is a lawyer in the town of Haller Creek. His two brothers have married, but Finn is concentrating on his career until the day that Jessica Blair enters his office needing his help. Her Aunt Nola is missing and she fears that her aunt is in danger. Finn agrees to help her locate her aunt, but once “accidents” start to happen threatening Jessie’s life, he knows this has turned in to a much more serious situation. Luckily, Finn can rely on his brother who is the town sheriff as well as his entire family. The author has wrapped up this series in a most satisfactory manner. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Enjoyable addition to the Montana Strong series. I was hooked from the start. Loved revisiting the Monroe Family. So happy that Finn meet his match. He and Jessie had a connection from the start.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t work for me. The plot seemed corny and contrived and it really dragged at times. This is the third book in this series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Jessie hires lawyer Finn to look for her Aunt Nola who raised her. Her aunt married a ranch hand and has gone MIA. They way this was written, I expected Snidley Whiplash to be tying the aunt to the railroad tracks and twirling his moustache. The mystery part was a bit over-the-top. It also seemed that the author had to meet a certain word count, so there was a lot of filler. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
I enjoyed this story. Jessie is worried about her aunt, after a whirlwind of a romance she’s married and left on her honeymoon, all without her favorite niece even meeting the man, so she seeks out legal help. After some highly suspicious incidents Jessie is left with just the clothes on her back. Finn was attracted to the beautiful damsel in distress, but he was trying to keep it professional, but she fit into his family so easily. Sexual tension, suspense and great characters make this a very entertaining read.
Be prepared for lots of surprises in this story! Ms. Ryan will delight readers with this small town romantic suspense story.
Finn Monroe has come a long way from his hellion days as a boy. Thanks to being adopted, along with his two brothers, by Mackenzie “Mac” Monroe Finn learned the error of his ways and now is an attorney in his hometown of Haller Creek, MT. When a beautiful woman walks into his office asking for help Finn never suspects the encounter will lead to mystery, danger and love.
Jessica “Jessie” Blair was desperate for help and someone to believe her. Supposedly her Aunt Nola who is like a mother to Jessie because she raised her from the age of five after the death of her parents, her Aunt Nola fell in love and got married to a newly hired ranch hand a couple weeks ago and is now away on her honeymoon. But Aunt Nola never told Jessie she was getting married and she isn’t answering Jessie’s calls. Jessie just knows something is wrong. She approaches Finn to help her get information on her aunt’s “new husband” since his last know address was in Holler’s Creek. Finn is skeptical but can’t turn Jessica away. As he looks into Jessie’s story Finn believes she has reason to be concerned. Plus he is super attracted to her and wants to spend time with her to get to know her better.
Born to Be a Cowboy is the third book in author. R.C. Ryan’s Montana Strong series. I haven’t read the first two books in the series but I really liked this book so I plan to read the first two. R.C. Ryan’s characters are very likeable. The storyline is fast-paced and filled with mystery and suspense. I really enjoyed the family scenes. They are filled with fun, compassion, support and much love. I believe R.C. Ryan has a real winner here. Readers who enjoy small town romance with lots of mystery and action will want to read this book.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I have read other books in this series and wanted to join up with the characters on another adventure. This isn’t a normal romance genre book, it definitely adds a sense of mystery and intrigue. Danger takes on a whole new meaning in this HEA romance.
Aunt Nola goes missing and Jessie sets out to get to the bottom of her aunt’s disappearance. Jessie finds herself at Finn’s law office an hour away from home looking for help. There she find the love and support from the Monroe family and as always…her happily ever after!
I really wish I would have read the other books in the series first. This is the third book in the series and though it can kind of stand on its own, it would be better, in my opinion, to read the series as a whole to get the backstory for the family. This was a sweet western romance with strong family roots; not necessarily the family you are born into but the one you form. Jessie and Finn were great together, they really fit well; though she was a bit too ‘damsel in distress’ in some instances for me and the romance was predictable, it was still an enjoyable read with all that was going on. The overall storyline was engaging and was enough to hold my interest.
*I received an ARC via the publisher, through NetGalley and I am providing my honest review.
This is the third book in the Montana Strong. I thought this book has some angst, mystery and drama. This book has some twists, turns, and suspense. I truly enjoyed reading Finn and Jessie. I thought they had chemistry. It is well written and has a good storyline.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own. Thank you NetGalley and Forever for letting me read this book.
A sweet romance with some mild steam. I actually found the intrigue part of this story was what kept my interest as I found the romance to be predictable. I loved all of Finn’s family and friends. I loved the strong familial and friendship bonds these characters had. My least favorite character was Jessie. She was too “damsel in distress” for me. I prefer my h’s to be strong and feisty, which was not my interpretation of Jessie’s character. Only an ok read for me.
I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
R.C. Ryan gives you another Monroe brother with such emotion set in the beautiful backdrop of Montana. This book was purely amazing.
Finn Monroe the youngest of the three brothers adopted by Mac Monroe he was now an Attorney and very happy with his life on their ranch and in their small town of Haller Creek, Montana. When Jessica Blair came to him looking for help all other avenues exhausted. He wasn’t sure what it was about her story or the woman herself.
This book has everything that a great book needs I am sure you will enjoy as much as I did!
I really enjoyed this book. Ms Ryan is very good at writing stories about families, related by blood or circumstances. I enjoyed reading both Ben and Sam’s stories but Finn’s story was my favorite. I liked that the circumstances that brought Jessie into Finn’s life was different and not too contrived. I, also, liked that Jessie was strong and didn’t make many emotional and dumb decisions (except one). While reading their story, it felt like going home.
This is the third installment in a series about three young runaway boys, adopted and raised by a rancher. You don’t have to read the other two first but it sure helps as each story involves all the characters so you get the complete back story.
This story has it all…danger, intrigue, intensity and finally, love. Each and every character has good points and high moral standards. Each one is successful in their own right. This one really points out the importance of family and how they stick together.
Best of all…. storylines that were carried from one book to the next we’re all wrapped up and nothing left to the imagination. Each of the men and women got their HEAs .
This book was gifted to me by the author and NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Sweet, satisfying series end…
This has been a wonderful series following the Monroe brothers as they bonded with their adoptive father and grew into the strong men they now were. Finn was the last brother to get his story and I wasn’t prepared for how bittersweet I felt about it…
Finn was the youngest but may have had the biggest chip on his shoulder starting out. Seeing him come into his own, fully invested in his larger family, gave me all the smiles. When Jessica landed in his office she was distraught and he was soon all in to help her. So many obstacles they had, many of them dangerous, as they dug for the truth about her aunt. Along the way romance bloomed and it was steady, almost old-fashioned, except for the occasional heated moments, of course…
These stories were old-fashioned, with their focus on family and heritage, yet they were also very modern. The women were strong, partners, equals, and stood shoulder to shoulder with their devoted, steady men. No matter what came at them they were family.
Luckily, that held true here as the series came to an end with an unexpected twist… I secretly hope Aunt Nola comes back in another book and maybe expand on Mac’s quiet background romance? Pretty please?

Born To Be A Cowboy by R.C. Ryan is the 3rd book of the Montana Strong series. It starts Finn Monroe, whose life started out as a juvenile delinquent, has turned his life around to become a rancher-turned lawyer and agrees to help a woman, Jessica Blaire, to find her missing aunt. The case takes them on a harrowing journey as they search for clues, and along the way, the heat of their attraction intensifies.
R.C. Ryan creates vivid characters starting with Finn as a strong protective hero and Jessica a fiercely independent heroine. Their romance is fraught with danger and lust, and they are supportive by cowboys and family against the backdrop of sweeping Montana ranch lands. The element of suspense and the heat of their attraction hold me captive. Born To Be A Cowboy is gripping yet enjoyable to read. Be sure to read the bonus story: Cowboy To the Rescue, a delightful short romance between a designer and hot, sexy cowboy firefighter.
