In the buried archives of the Temple of Dust may lie the secret to defeating the Curse, a creature which seeks to destroy 16-year old Ria for the forbidden gifts she possesses. But it is from among the ranks of those who control the Curse where Ria will find her best chance of success.
Only the Priestess Niri can save Ria from the forces that hunt her, if Niri doesn’t betray the girl first. … betray the girl first. Along with Ria comes Ty and his sister, Lavinia, both bound to defend Ria from the Church of Four Orders. However, Ty has been living a life less than honest and keeping it from his sister. To survive a journey that takes them across the breadth of their world, the four must learn to trust each other before pursuit from the Church and Ty’s troubled past find them.
Born of Water is the first book in the Rise of the Fifth Order Saga full of elemental magic and epic fantasy adventure. Welcome to the mythical world of Myrrah, ruled by the Church of Four Orders – Fire, Earth, Water, and Air.

Wow! I’ve had this book sitting in my kindle for a while, but never got around to reading it. Then I won the audio book in giveaway, and now I’m hooked. Admittedly, there were about a hundred pages there that I wanted to murder one of the main characters for being a big baby, but they got over it, eventually. The magic system is a little wonky, but interesting. I like the characters, but wish the narrator had done a better job of differentiating between their voices. The story is interesting enough that I would read the e-book when I couldn’t listen to the audio book. I very much look forward to the next in the series.
I could not out this book down. Fascinating and fast paced. If you enjoy fantasy books this is trilogy is a must read.
Great epic fantasy series with lots of magic, cunning, deceit, and a little tragedy and romance. Strong characters and action keep you reading well after you should have turned out the lights.
Awesome, could not put it down. I felt like the kid in “Never Ending Story” . Cannot say it better than that.
Definitely an unputdownable, action packed, magical book, suitable for teens and up.
At first I found this book a little confusing and then everything snapped into place when’s Niri started searching for and found Ria. I enjoyed the characters and the whole idea of Elementals. I liked mostly everything about how to book went, except I didn’t like Ty’s attitude. He acted like a jerk quite frequently. And I didn’t understand how one minute he hated Niri and the next minute he kind of thought he liked her and then he hated her again and then… he just couldn’t make up his mind. He was even a jerk to his sister Lavinia when she fell in love with a stranger and he was a jerk to Ria too, not to mention all of the Kith. I didn’t want to put this book down.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started Born of Water. The title and cover caught my attention, but one ever knows… I found myself hooked from the start and totally into the non-stop action, adventure and magic. I enjoyed the originality of the world created and how real the various characters came to be. The best part is that it’s not over, and while the story ended at the right point, I am looking forward to the next in series and adventures that lie ahead.
Enjoyed reading this book
This book had characters I rooted for, somewhat young and untested. They learned lessons the hard way and it built them into a team who cared for each other. The premise that a religious order would try and control people is spot on. I hardly put the book down.
Great read
I liked the story and plan to buy the next one.
Autum M Birt has created a fantastic world of wielders of the basic elements along with a powerful “church” to train, guide & control them. Her characters have good depth and you feel like you are watching great actors showing their range of feeling be it exasperation, deceit, love or how treacherous they are. There is a simple circumstance that starts a priestess on a journey leading to a quest, to fantasticly described people’s and lands. A good journey of mind & spirit with tons of adventures for all. A lot of fun with the different powers well explained and thought out. I have read all the first trilogy and looking forward to the next book.
I read the whole series.
I love this, already have the 2nd and can’t wait to finish it. The characters are realistic and you really want to know what happens to them next
It is rare to find a new author capable of building a world this original and at the same time this real.
Creatively written with well-developed characters. I will be getting the rest of the trilogy. Some poignant thoughts for today as well.
I found this story a bit confusing but it was entertaining enough that I kept reading it.
Wow this book is cool. Magic, evil, action, well made and unique characters with a unique world too. I could not put this down. I cannot wait to read the next book.
Just too slow moving for me. Needed to develop faster and more action
