A great start to a new Series concerning the time of the great Merlin. This story begins with the conflicts before his birth. The authors research brings us facts and fiction so well melded together that it leaves you saying, “Wow, I didn’t know that” then brings you back to “wait, did that really happen or is it just part of this story.” The main characters have background stories both good (for those times)and bad; filled with stoic bravery and some with deep pain and anger. We have hero’s and heroines who will have to go through both mental and physical anguish, as well as unexpected love. The story ends at the start of the amazing and supposedly magical life of Merlin. We’ve seen and read many versions of this mans life, but I have a feeling this one will be the most enthralling one of all.
Captivating Romance Story:
The title of this books means more than you realize.
This intelligently written romance story had me captivated from the first paragraph.
It is a complex story with several characters that is filled with intrigue, passion, terror,
mystic powers, and more. The main characters are strong and are emotionally driven to
reach their goals and on the way they discover who they really are and find true love.
A wonderful story that I hope will continue into another book?
Cover gets 5 Stars:
The author has created a retelling of Merlin’s birth that is down-to-earth, true to the historical period and realistic without discounting the magical elements. I thought that only Mary Stewart and Jack Whyte were able to do that; I am pleased to admit that I was wrong. Not only is the story true to the legend of Merlin, it still manages to speak of romance, life choices, women’s strengths and the meaning of honour in ways that capture my imagination. I am definitely going to see if the author will be able to continue this with the rest of this series.
This is a fabulous adult historical romance with just a touch of magic to give it that epic fantasy feel. The characters and how they lived in that time period are well described. There’s just enough danger and good feels to balance it all. It isn’t obvious at first who the main characters are. I would have been happy to read more about the secondary characters and how their romance develops. Overall, it’s a very satisfying story.
This is a story of courage, loyalty and love. A 5th century warlord named Vortigern hires the Saxons to help the British fight the Picts. Then the Saxons battle to conquer Britain for themselves. Brave , clever men and women quietly resist both Vortigern and the Saxons while watching for a chance to free their land. Before a savior king arises, the Kingmaker must be born—Merlin!
This tale is wonderfully written with crisp, believable dialogue and plot. Mix in a little suspense and sweet romance, and you have a five star novel!
As a long time, self proclaimed Arthurian Legend junkie I couldn’t wait to dive into Tracy Cooper Posey’s new series. Each author brings their own interpretation of the legend. Some are good and some are just plain awful. Tracy once again proves to be a master story teller as she weaves the delicate threads of this beloved legend into her own.
If this first book is any indication of what is to follow I can’t wait for the next in the series. I can’t wait to read the entire series.
