Great book….A real page turner with an unpredictable ending.
Imagine if you suspected your son was a psychopath. A great premise.
Surprise ending
I enjoyed this book, been done before but I still enjoyed it and the writing style.
Twisted , stick with you read. You won’t put this down, it will stick with you long after you read it. You think you know where this book is going but you don’t. Some parts are disturbing but still read able not for any one under 18 .
Was a pretty good book kept you guessing from start to finish. Never would have expected it to finish that way
Well written page turner! I had to keep reading to see how it would end!
This book is definitely a page turner. When you finally think you have it figured out, “everything changes”. Whatever most psychological thrillers are supposed to be, “Born Evil” fills in the gaps.
a real page turner, once started a can’t put down
The protagonist was an idiot, totally unbelievable. So awful I couldn’t finish the book.
I could not put this down! It was an amazing read with plot twists and an unexpected ending.
Unbeleivable, could not read it.
Born Evil is about Jennifer’s twelve year old Shane who she believes was born a psychopath. As his mother she wants to fix him and make him normal. She feels responsible for his behavior.
At the age of twenty-four Jennifer was a struggling actress. She spent a few summers teaching Spanish in Mexico. She currently is a developmental editor for an online romance publisher named Lovestruck. She has a Master’s degree in psychology focusing in education and research this way she can help her son become a functioning adult. The more I read about Jennifer’s character the more I question who she really is. All these occupations seem highly unlikely considering the way she behaves with Shane. She doesn’t come across as a highly intelligent character.
Shane is a twelve year old boy who has some odd behaviors that are easily explained as unfortunate circumstances. He has no friends and no interest in sporting activities. He’s an excellent photographer.
She’s a widower raising her twelve year old by herself. Her husband died six years ago by her six year old son. Since then Jennifer has protected Shane making up excuses for his behavior. Jennifer’s avoidance behavior is alarming. The fact that she keeps quiet after witnessing her son kill a cat is troubling. Then when we learn about Jennifer’s childhood background we learn that she manages to suppress her feelings to protect others. Jennifer is in denial that her son is evil. Better yet Jennifer’s inability to confront her son whom she’s protecting only enables him.
Every time Jennifer had dialogue I thought to myself “get to the point”. The entire book had long drawn out explanations about nonsense, none of it relevant to the progress of this story.
Born Evil is not what I had anticipated. I’m disappointed with the blasé manner in which these deaths are mentioned.
This book reads like a bad B rated movie where the entire premise is laughably unrealistic. It’s a train wreck of implausible situations. This has a far-fetched storyline with over imaginative characters.
I should’ve stopped reading at the point when Jennifer stated Shane was born a psychopath. There is no treatment for a psychopath it’s an untreatable condition so the fact that Jennifer believes she can turn her son into a loving normal boy is ludicrous. Babies are not born psychopaths. If anything they exhibit signs at an early age by lying. The most common sign is their lack of remorse for their own bad actions. This definitely was illustrated in his reaction as he explained certain situations.
I’m going to continue skim reading because I am curious how this author plans to execute a way to save Shane from being a psychopath without getting the mother killed in the process.
The story drones on and on about mundane irrelevant things moving at a turtle pace. I should be elated by that ending instead I’m not.
Great plot twist. Never saw it coming!
Very predictable…..lost interest.
great characters and story

Hated the mother from the beginning of the book
I did not think that it was very well written. I would not read anything by this author again.
Great mom, evil child, loving home – that’s how it starts. Plot goes along in this general journey and then you get to the wrap up at the end. Didn’t like the ending and didn’t think some of the questions I had regarding what came before were explained. Good try, but I expected more.
