OMG!! This is one of my all-time favourite duets!!!!!!!!! If you love your romance dark –>> GET. THIS. DUET.
Trisha Wolfe, Author writes some of the best books I’ve ever read. She’s one of the only authors I’ve ever gone back and read her backlist after falling in love with one of her books. You will not regret buying these books, I promise you!!
While it is a very dark book–we’re dealing with psychopaths and a serial killer–it’s darkness also gives it light. One of the most unlikely love stories I’ve read in a while. I enjoyed the character analysis and discussion of psyche. I like that both of the characters are extraordinarily intelligent and that, while you don’t want to like them, you are fascinated by the way that they think.
Intriguing. Thrilling. Chilling. And darkly poetic. With beautiful imagery and an incredible take on how the mind of a psychopath works, I was thrust into the lives of London and Grayson and understood them on a much deeper level. The masks they hide behind and the freedoms they felt upon giving into their truest natures. The similarities in their lives led to a connection that ran much deeper than the physical.
These characters were soulmates forged from darkness.
Clarrisa meets Dexter – A Psychological Thriller that will keep you engaged – and at times possibly even questioning your own sanity
This is a tale of a Vigilante and a Dr. –
One rights the wrongs- passing sentence and judgment upon the tainted- giving the victims of a failed judicial system Justice
One studies the tainted, attempts to dig out their darkness exposing it to the light, helping them grow -rehabilitating them -giving them a second chance at life –
Both are justified in their actions- Ultimately they both achieve the same end results- but only one can see the truth -only one accepts it is their own darkness they feed.
What happens when these two come together both in the belief the other is misguided?
Both believing the other needs “rehabilitation”? Who is truly correct and who is truly corrupt?
A beautifully choreographed dance of macabre steps that will lead to the ultimate reveal
I’ve tried. I really have. I’ve tired to put together a review of this book that will do it justice. Do justice to the poetic, brilliant words of this author. And I can’t! I don’t possess the words or the ability. So, Fuck It! This will have to do.
I knew one day someone would leave the door to Trisha’s padded room unlocked, allowing her to run the halls of the asylum with all her fucking crazy hanging out for the world to see. This is it. This is the day. Not only has Trisha’s crazy been unleashed, she has organized the inmates and is leading a rebellion.
Born, Darkly is what happens when an author leaves the safety of her padded room, refuses to hold back and lays all her crazy on the line! Brilliance! Brilliance is what happens! Genius just met psychotic and this reader has been sliced open and currently lays bleeding in her happy place.
The intelligence, knowledge and understanding with which this book was written sets it apart and miles above all others. Every scene, every action and every word has meaning, purpose and is part of the whole. Trisha expertly and deftly leads the reader through a labyrinth of lies, truths and manipulations until caught in an elaborate trap with only one way out….her way.
“Do you think your above taking a life?” “Yes.” “Let’s find out.”
The bar has just been raised and set. Born, Darkly is the book by which I will judge all others. Trisha’s words have long since owned my heart and mind. Now, they own my soul.
Trisha, thank you for giving me a place to let my own crazy live, breath and be free. I am forever grateful, humbled and honored to be allowed into your crazy world of words
You think you like dark, this is dark, very dark, no…extremely dark. You’ve been warned, Born, Darkly will push every last one of your moral limits, it did for me anyway. However, I confess that I am in awe of the author’s genius in putting together the intricate labyrinth of events, lies and obsession that are Grayson and London. I was blindsided by the turn of events more than once throughout the story.
This is not a typical love story. This is not for the faint of heart, but love it or hate it, avid readers will be overwhelmed by the emotional turmoil experienced, as the two MCs, doctor and patient, cross every moral and ethical boundary of civilized law-based society.
I was captivated by Grayson and London’s story from the very first chapter, it’s like that horrible tragedy you can’t help but watch because you have to know what happened! And in true Trisha Wolfe form we will have to wait for the second book in the duet to find out…yes, she did leave us with a bit of a cliffhanger. Born, Madly can’t arrive soon enough.
A must read wild ride with everything you want to avoid but can’t stop reading
I went into this book a little blind, and let me tell you I was so enthralled. I’ve read other books with the therapist/patience trope but this book was done so well. Trisha Wolfe made me root for the romance even though Grayson (the hero/antihero) is a serial killer. This book has suspense, angst, it’s psychologically thrilling, and the steam and chemistry was intense
It’s like a darker Joker + Harley Quinn I always wanted while the joker has the mind of Sherlock..
I love fluffy romance as much as the next person but I always wanted a story where the bad guys thrive. The knight in shining armor is so typical, so easy. This, I cannot fathom how she wrote it. So intricate, so riveting. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, I couldn’t put it down and immediately delved into the next book (which by the way is AMAZING)
If you can handle the darkness, this is a book for you.
If serial killers make you queasy feel free to move on
5/5
Darkest sh*t I’ve read so far
A well written and interesting look into the psyche of a serial killer. The twists kept me on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait to jump in to book 2 and see how the journey ends for London and Grayson.
Wow… never read anything like this…. never understood the meaning of Dark romance and erotica… until now… dark as dark… bizarre… do such things happen in real or is it simply fictional… and Psych Thriller to boot … yess
Amazingly beautiful in a twisted way . You just can’t put this book down . Hands down a brilliant book.
This book is everything. It was my first introduction to Trisha and I’ve been reading her backlist every since.
And I think it’s currently a freebie on Amazon. GET ON IT!
Trisha Wolfe’s writing style gives my eyeballs the feels. The beautiful, poetic construction of each sentence is an experience like no other. It triggers feelings of happiness and wonder, even while reading the graphic details of a serial killer’s gruesome crime scene. Since there’s no way for me to compare, I will just plainly state: READ THIS BOOK!!!
I loved everything about it and can’t find a single negative thing to say about it. It’s a masterpiece. I don’t want to have spoilers, but if you enjoy psychological thrillers, dark erotica and really intense puzzles, you won’t be able to put this book down. You can’t get ahead of it. You can’t outpace the unraveling of the traps. You will be at the mercy of the author in every possible way. Everything is exactly as it seems, yet nothing is anything at all what you think. This is a labyrinth of psychological suspense without reprieve, a twisted game played between a serial killer and a psychologist. For all intents and purposes, one is imprisoned and the other is free, but which of them really has all the liberty to keep the upper hand?
Grayson Sullivan is the Angel of Maine. A moniker his fans have given him for his victimology. The pedophiles, rapists and child abusers he meticulously devises intricate traps to ensnare, so he can spend hours watching them suffer, waiting for them to make their choice: Live or die? They never choose to live. His IQ is off the charts, his madness always has a reason, his foresight is boundless, yet he’s been caught and is now being tied to crimes in Delaware, where they’ve overturned the ban on the Death Penalty just for him.
Dr. London Noble is renowned in her field, the criminal psychologist everyone wants in their corner when it comes to defending the criminally insane. A tragic car accident as a teen has left her with suppressed memories and a damaged lumbar she suffers from more than she lets on. She’s beginning to feel the wear of her contract with the prison. She wants to be done with the criminals and move on already, until the Warden brings her the Angel of Maine. A serial killer she tried to get an interview with a year ago, when he first got caught and several times thereafter. He always turned her down. Now he’s in her office, because he’s going to be put to death if he’s convicted. She’s his only hope and he’s the case study that could propel her career into the stars, never to be knocked down again.
Their connection is visceral and twisted, moths and flames of equal parts. A gravitational pull into a sick game of cat and mouse neither can escape. They both seek to exploit the other for their own desired end game, but when it comes to psychological warfare, just which mind lays the greatest traps and which has the greater chance of surviving them: A brilliant serial killer adept at building puzzles out of nothing or a seasoned criminal psychologist with a dark and bloody past?
Reader-to-Reader warnings: This is not a vigilante romance. No killers in this book try to justify their actions. This book is not black and white with its content, there are no clearly defined heroes or villains, it is all a matter of individual perspective and opinion. If you need a definitive good vs evil tale, this is not the book for you.
Absolutely loved this duet!
“My sick matches your sick.”
A delightfully dark mind game! This story will make you guess until the very end. Exceptionally written, smart, riveting, completely consuming.
This is a must read! Yes! Sometimes a book comes along and you remember why you leave the lights off. This story spun a wicked web of intriguing disaster. Sometimes you have to wade through the rubble to find gems like this one. I was rubbing my hands together from start to finish. Criminal Minds meets Dexter. I feel like this book went so much further into the psyche of serial killers. Amazing depth was reached with the pages. This author brought complex characters together in a way that exceeded my expectations and I’m hungry for more. I’m breathless. This was far more than your average Dark Romance/Thriller.
“We weren’t born the day we took our first breath. We were born the moment we stole it.”
Layer upon layer delivering throat punches. You’ll think you’ve got it all figured out, the truth a hairbreadth away. Until you realize you couldn’t grasp what the final layer held. Insanely brilliant. I loved every word. I highly recommend to dark romance readers. This book blew me away!
“Because seeking the answer on how to fix the sick and deviant is boring. You’re really seeking to understand why you’re so drawn to it. Which is far more interesting.”
I completely and totally adore London and Grayson’s dark and twisted relationship. In this new book –Born, Darkly by Trisha Wolfe ‘Born, Darkly is the 1st book in the New Series called “Darkly, Madly Duet”. It is sinful and rich, dark and twisted-which is how I love it, crave it and need more of their type of love. This is the story of London Noble and Grayson Pierce Sullivan.
The depth of their story will blow your breath away while keeping you entertained in this fast paced, erotic, dark romance. Please note this is a very dark romance and may hold some triggers //taboo storylines so please know this going in. I found myself loving every word, every interaction between the main characters. London is a famous psychologist who specializes in Dark and Criminal Psychology. She is not well liked because many see her as a woman who gets killers off. London is currently working with a correctional establishment to help inmates and she only has about a yr left before her time is done. Then she is assigned to Grayson Sullivan after another of her inmate patient is sent to another prison. Strange after she tried to get Grayson as her patient about a year before but he refused her help until now. Only thing is, he wont do sessions with her. He will be her patient but he wont do sessions.. Seriously, the heat is slowly building and it’s a dark and twisted type. She knows its like a trainwreck waiting to happen but she cant help whats about to go down…she is just going to let whatever happens, happen. Grayson was accused of killing 5 people but their bodies where never found. He currently has another trial coming up where he can be put to death. Did Greyson kill those people or is he innocent?
There is so much more here than meets the eye. London has a very painful and traumatic past that she tries to hide from. Grayson is totally the anti-hero and he is tuned into London from the get-go yet he refuses to let London know he craves her…what a dark and sinful heat they have. These two together are certifiable—more like certifiable insane. But what a way to go. I don’t want to give too much away #SPOILERS—all I WILL tell you is this story ends on an epic cliffhanger and I need to get my next fix of how London and Grayson end up…is it together or forever broken… I so feel their love , this book is my guilty, filthy craving!!! Kudos to Author Trisha Wolfe for an awesome new series and great kickoff with book 1. I couldn’t go to sleep until I finished it and then I couldn’t go to sleep until daylight because I was literally shaking after book 1 was over…#FABULOUSLYINSANELYGREAT
My Rating: 4.9 stars *****
“I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
Somewhere along my reading this story, the writer’s voice changed. Or maybe the energy of the story changed. I felt like the story and characters pulled me in, but the story didn’t have anywhere to go. It went places, but it felt like the characters didn’t belong there.
Very interesting and slightly disturbed which is why I loved this book. The characters are deeply troubled in a way that matches each other. You don’t want to like them but you do.
This book is beautifully twisted and dark!! I don’t have enough amazing things to say about this duet. If you’re looking for a twisted love story then you need to pick this up!!
