I am a fan of the Border Series and have read all the books in this box set as standalones and to have them now in this awesome box set is a real treat for readers that love Medieval Scottish Romance. Ms. Mecca is an excellent writer who tells wonderful stories. Her Border series is a real winner! I highly recommend this box set.
Books 4-6 in the WICKEDLY EXCITING AND ADDICTIVE FIVE STAR “Border Series”.
These wonderfully well written stories take place in the 13th century along the borderlands of Scotland and England.
I loved the strong warriors and the sassy women who are anything but cooperative and docile! I was on the edge of my seat following the characters along their journey between war, peace, love, angst, and loss. I didn’t want it to end. I recommend every book in the Border Series and everything that is written by this author! Each book is better than the last. I can’t wait for the next book!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed, Easy-to-read, Entertaining, Happily Ever After, Page-turner, Romantic, Realistic, Witty dialogue, Wonderful characters.
Border Series books 4-6. This is a awesome series…I have really enjoyed it. In this great box set you get the following books:
Book 4; The Scot’s Secret This is the story of Alex Kerr and Lady Clara “Alfred”.
Book 5; The Earl’s Entanglement. This is the story of Garrick Helmsley the Earl of Clave and Lady Emma Waryn.
Book 6; The Warrior’s Queen. This is the story of Graeme de Sowlis and Gillian Bowman.
These books all can be standalone but it is such a great series that you might not want to miss anything.
I would highly recommend this series and this author!
These books center around three different couples that have to overcome several problems before they can be happy together. If you love medieval stories that are action packed with lots of suspense, romance and at times funny this is for you. The men are wonderful and the women are strong. Once you start these stories you will not want to stop.
Cecelia Mecca is a fantastic author who keeps you so interested in her stories that you hate for the book to end and can’t wait for the next one. I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
I have read and reviewed each of the books in this second box set of the Border Series individually. Below are my reviews for each. This is a great chance to get all three of them at a great price!
The Scot’s Secret #4
This is a standalone story with its own HEA. However, it is best if you read the books in order to get the most and to avoid spoilers.
I’ve been addicted to these stories from the get-go. I can’t seem to put them down and find myself dying for the next one. I love it when I find a new author (to me at least) and can binge read a complete series. I find myself in the sad situation of having to wait for Ms. Mecca to write the next one so I can get my fix. This latest in the series is no different. It’s great and very entertaining. It’s obvious that Ms. Mecca does her research. I find myself transported to the place and time easily.
The Earl’s Entanglement #5
I absolutely love the border series books. Cecelia Mecca definitely has a gift for story-telling and absolutely does her research because I am totally transported to this place and time period. All of these stories are entertaining…I find myself vested right from the get-go. The hero and heroine in this story have quite a bit of chemistry and I found myself rooting for them from the beginning. It’s questionable if they will be able to overcome all of the obstacles that are in their way. Although all of the books in this series are stand-alone and do not need to be read in any particular order, it is better to read them in order to avoid spoilers.
The Warrior’s Queen #6
It is so good to see Graeme finally get his happily ever after. This is the sixth book in the Border series and although it can be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend reading the others first so that you do not have any spoilers. Cecelia Mecca obviously does a tremendous amount of research before writing her books because there is no doubt in my mind that this is exactly how it was during this time period. She creates such a descriptive story that I feel like I am there with these characters. I love them all and feel sad to have to say bye to them at the end of the story although I’m sure we will see them again in future books. I can’t wait!
Having read all of these books, it is exciting to have part of this series in one box set:
The Scot’s Secret: When his brother foists English born Alfred onto him to train as his squire, Alex intuitively realises that something does not ring true. However, he chooses to accept the situation, but decides to keep his eyes open. Upon discovering the surprising truth, Alex’s eyes almost pop out of their sockets, leaving him floundering. Knowing that his squire is in fact a beautiful woman makes him wonder what secrets she is keeping and why she needs to effect her disguise. Alfred, who is in fact Clara, accompanies Alex on his quest to discover the whereabouts of his missing mother, because she feels safer when on the move. As secrets are revealed, Alex finds that he will do anything to keep her safe, even from himself. The story is very well written, keeping the reader‘s interest right the way through to the delightful ending.
The Earl’s Entanglement: In an era when peace was dictated by the alliances made through marriage, Garrick heads for his Scottish stronghold, being kept safe for him by his mother, in order to get betrothed to the daughter of one of the most powerful chieftains in the area. Despite his reluctance to get married, he is fully aware of his duty and the need to protect his mother’s inheritance, hence the strategic marriage. The unexpected occurs when he stops at the stronghold of Geoffrey Waryn, where he meets the Earl of Kenshire’s incorrigible younger sister. The attraction between them is instant but Garrick knows that if peace is to be upheld in the district, he cannot allow his thoughts to dwell on Emma. When meddling Sara intervenes and persuades her husband to allow Emma to travel to Scotland with with Garrick, it adds fuel to the fire. The book, as with the other novels in this series, is fast paced, exciting and intensely romantic. Garrick is a powerful hero commanding attention, and Emma is his match in every way. One feels for the star-crossed lovers as they both recognise the importance of marriages to build alliances and the sense of impending doom to their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and was unable to put it down.
The Warrior’s Queen: In keeping with the rest of this series, The Warrior’s Queen is exciting and filled with the tensions of border raids and power surges between the clans, the Scots, and the English. Keeping peace between the hot-blooded, contentious parties on both sides of the border is a full-time task. Graeme de Sowlis has been twice rejected in what could have been marriage strengthening alliances, and he is not prepared to allow himself to be made the object of scorn once again. But when he sees sweet Gillian Bowman with her friends at the May Day celebration, his interest is piqued. Gillian has been promised to an old man in marriage, and she knows that she cannot go against her father in his wishes for her, otherwise her family stands to lose everything that is dear to them. However, caught in a May Day kiss with Graeme, she finds herself married to the warrior before she can wipe the sleep from her eyes. Graeme didn’t realise what the consequences of being married to Gillian would be, and he has to strategize to find a solution that will satisfy everyone. Fortunately, he is no longer alone in his quest as the friendships forged across the border stand him in good stead. The Warrior’s Queen is well written, deeply romantic, with high adventure and strong characters.
I love all of this author’s books and to my mind, she cannot put a foot wrong. Many of the characters from previous books in this series appear in this one as well, but they are all standalones with a very satisfactory endings. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
