“Pure perfection. The writing flowed seamlessly, the story heartbreakingly beautiful, and the characters… God, these characters are forever embedded in my soul.” ~ Erin Noelle, USA Today Bestselling AuthorThe night I’m released from prison, she’s in my bed. It’s been eight years since I touched a woman, and the Native American beauty is half-dressed, beaten, bruised, and devastatingly … bruised, and devastatingly exquisite.
We’re toxic together, but we want the same things. Blood. Vengeance.
Violent relief in a warm body.
Beneath her touch, I’m alive.
Against her skin, I’m redeemed.
Buried inside her, I forget the past.
Until the past takes her from me.
Prison made me cold, but losing Raina makes me cruel. Ruthless. Unforgiving.
I killed before. For her, I’ll kill again.
I’ll end this once and for all or die in my boots.

4.5 out of 5 STARS
This is the third book in the trails of sin series and this is Lorne’s book. I have been not so patiently waiting for this book . Lorne is Conors brother and the poor man has been locked up in prison for the last eight years . When he gets out he is not himself and when he finds Raina , his fathers ex concubine , all battered and bruised in his bed . He is attracted but all he feels dead inside . There is only one thing he wants and it is vengeance. But with Raina he feels for the first time and he wants more then the vengeance . They are broken but can they repair each other and will they be able to over come what is about to happen.
The characters in this book didn’t disappoint . Lorne well lets just say , I couldn’t wait to see what the author had in store for Lorne. You know he has a good heart and wants to be the man he use to be but prison was hard on him . It changed him in ways that most people would be scared of . He became hard and cruel . You want to save him over and over again. He is oh so sexy and brooding you don’t know if you want to hug him or climb him like a spider monkey. He is also loyal to a fault with his family , they are unconditional love for him and his main supporters .
Raina well she is one mixed up ball of emotion. She has been used and abused for so long that is all she knows . She uses sex to get what she wants but she seems so detached when she does . There is so much more to her then we see at the beginning of the book . She actually is a sweet woman who can cook just about anything and can whip up a holistic potion to help out all most anything ailment . She is also stronger then she lets on . She goes after what she wants and won’t let anyone get in her way . Together they are combustible you can so feel the sexual tension between them . They will make your kindle melt.
The rest of the crew is also back , I love them all and when push comes to shove family is always there to help you out . Even if it is to leave you alone while you work things out or take a bullet m I was so excited when I saw Lorne’s book out . I couldn’t put it down. The characters were very well written and I loved the story line . The author really puts you through the wringer with this book . The roller coaster ride is long and winging but the ride is worth it . The story has so much going on , there are some spots that will melt your kindle , other parts you will want to throw your kindle across the room . You will love the characters and you will hate them at the same time . There were a few spots in the book where I just felt that the author kind of let it slide a bit . Especially towards the end . I felt like the author could of ramped it up just a bit more and give it the big ending that the series needed . Don’t get me wrong the last chapters were amazing but I guess I wanted more . Over all I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I wanted to see if everyone will have their happily ever afters . This book has to be read in the series so you can understand what is going on . So if you want a hot dark series with cowboys check out the Trails of Sin series you will not be disappointed eant for you .
The final book in the Trails of Sin trilogy, these must be read in order to understand and fully appreciate the story line, so ensure you have read #1 Knotted and #2 Buckled first!!
I was really looking forward to this final book, Lorne had me intrigued from book 1 and couldn’t wait to find out his story!
Lorne hasn’t had an easy life, imprisoned for the past 8 years, going in as a scared boy and coming out as a prison hardened man. Both he and his family can’t wait for him to be back home, but he finds it difficult to adjust to being back to normal life. He can’t stand being inside the house, preferring to sleep out under the stars, can’t stand being around people, he’s cold, closed off, angry, abrupt and suffers from nightmares.
His bed is occupied by Raina, the girl Maybe rescued from John. She’s been battered, abused and raped by him for the past 2 years, but there’s far more to her story than she’s telling. Her plan is to kill John for everything he has done.
We met Raina in the previous 2 books and I wasn’t sure what to expect, I wasn’t too sure about her, but as the story progresses and you get to find out more about her, my opinion changed and she went from being meh to an awesome and strong woman!!
Everything about Lorne should frighten her, but she stands up to him, she is a spitfire and doesn’t back down easily. Lorne finds her fascinating and stunning, she is beauty and temptation and sin all wrapped up in one. They are at each other constantly, pushing each other’s buttons, neither backing down, their attractiveness and chemistry just off the chart!!
Lorne was to very patient and caring with Raina, who didn’t know love and how to love, he shows he has a wonderful softer nature more than just the hard nosed, sexy AF cowboy he portrays!
Jake, Connor, Jarret and Maybe also feature heavily in here as their family of four soon become a family of six, and watching them interact with each other was fantastic!
A brilliant end to this trilogy, I loved the whole series – heartbreaking, tragic, sweet, soulful, passionate, dramatic and seriously sexy hawt!! Highly recommended reading.
The final part to the Trails Of Sin series was more of a romance book than the twisty secrets and suspense given to us in the previous two parts. I eagerly await Lorne’s story as I felt he was key to the whole story plot unravelling but that wasn’t the case. So I felt a little short changed here.
Told from a dual POV the book takes a steady pace. It was a smokin’ hot story of two broken characters each with their own hangups fighting their attraction to each other coming together to achieve their ultimate goal and remove John Holsten as a threat. I was hoping John would’ve played more of a part than he actually did. Pam did well at bringing past revelations into the story as it’s easy to forget some key revelations.
There’s no denying Pam has given us three super hot and super sexy cowboys for us to drool over. Loved the series but for me books one and two were definitely my favourite.

Booted is another fabulous book from author Pam Godwin. I have been looking forward to reading Lorne’s book, and I’m happy to say that it was well worth the wait! This is the third and final book in the Trail of Sins series. Each book in the series focuses on a different couple, but there is an underlining storyline that continues throughout the series. Therefore, you will need to read Knotted and Buckled first before beginning this one.
I don’t want to give anything away, so I’m going to be a bit vague. The story begins shortly after the second book ends. Lorne is out of prison and back on the ranch. He finds it difficult to resume the life he used to live. Everyone is so happy to see him home, but he’s having a hard time dealing with it all. The first night home, Lorne finds Raina sleeping in his bed, and he becomes captivated by her. She has also had a difficult past, one we learned about in the second book. Lorne and Raina understand each other and make a great couple.
A definite add to your TBR list!

Its bitter and sweet for me with Booted. Been excited to read it but when i finally have it, i delayed reading to savour it cause Booted is the last book in this series and i have hard time to let them go. But, as usual with Pam Godwin’s books, she just won’t let you go. She grip you hard from the first page. I couldn’t let go until finish reading. And now i don’t know what to do
Now, about Booted. You guys really need to read this series from the first book. Although in each book tell story of different couples and no cliffy, but they are connected and therefore got to be read in orderfor you to understand their journey of survival.
And yes, in Booted for me its a perfect ending for Jake, Jarret, Lorne, Connor, Maybe and Raina.
Its the light after the dark kinda ending. Its the happy ever after kinda ending. I cried of heart ache and angry for their life being shatered by the man they should feel safe from. I laugh for their dirty jokes
I fall in love with how they love each other.
I’m not sure my review would do justice to how great Pam’s woven her words in EVERY BOOK. I’m just gonna say thankyou Pam for letting me live in Julep Ranch and meet these awesome people.
5 Explosive Stars!!!
I’m in awe of Ms. Godwin and her ability to tell a story that is both gripping and dark. Until I’d discovered her work I didn’t think I would be so consumed by these types of books, but oh man, I’m like a junkie when it comes to her words!!!
Booted is book three in the phenomenal Trails of Sin series and it MUST be read in order. In this book we get Lorne and Raina’s story and it’s absolutely my favorite of this series. Both of them are so damaged and their souls are forever changed by their past. When Lorne comes home after being in prison he’s got his eye on Raina and for more reasons than he’s willing to admit to. And this is when the book just explodes!!
I don’t think I’ve seen a H/h that are so much like oil and water! Their contempt for each other just makes their sexy times that much hotter. I mean this kind of passioned hate absolutely translates to the “bedroom” and they’re once again changed by actions that are really not in their control.
Booted has it all….drama, angst, emotionally explosive love scenes and a story that is fast paced and absolutely intense in its ferocity!!! This is one series that takes us on a ride and in the end, everyone gets exactly what they deserve….both good and bad!!!
Pheww, can you forgive easily? I maybe. Lorne had gone to prison for 8 years. A time where your life will change forever. Lorne had changed over the years with bitterness, rage, pain, sadness and regret. How can he not?
Booted is a story about lost souls. I cant imagine the horror of living a new life after prison. Nothing can sooth him down. Booted was a dark cowboy romance with deep secret buried within 10 inches deep. Everything about Julep Ranch was intense, emotional, anger beyond madness.
Lorne was everything I can imagine. Strong-brod man, rough, intense piercing eyes, controlling, dominant alpha…
Raina is a strong woman. She will not put up with non sense.. I adored her spirit. Her selfless who would do anything to protect her love one.
Raina and Lorne were the tangle of broken cobweb. They were bound together with hate and attraction. The dance between the intensity was so hot, it never lack of deep feelings.. they were falling inlove.
I read every chapters with cautious feeling. Booted was painful to stomach and feeling numb. This was the story of Lorne. I didnt expect anything less. It was raw, gritty and darker as it is. I love how it was. I hated it because it had to be Lorne.
This book. This series. Anything Pam Godwin writes is beautiful. She has a magical way with words, that when put to page create an intense, beautiful and unique world that I will never get enough of. Lorne and Raina are a combustible pair. The drip with sexuality and desire, a rawness and an edge of mindless madness that creates a maelstrom of emotions that leave the reader desperate for more. They are real and flawed. One desperat for connection, the other reluctant for anything that could destroy. The demons that have destroyed them and their family must be dealt with before happiness is even a possibility. This strong, resilient family will stop at nothing for the ones they love, the ones born into the ranch and the ones they choose to invite in. Another truly magnificent five star read by Miss Godwin, I am truly in awe of you and the feelings you always create with your words.
I received an Arc of Booted that I have willingly chosen to review. Every star is chosen by me.
This is the third book in the Trails of Sin series. Again Pam delivers a story that will captivate and intrigue you from beginning to end. Maybe (from Buckled) rescues Raina from a life of abuse at the hand of John Holsten, Jake and Jarret’s father and brings her to the Julep Ranch. John was also the mastermind behind the tragedy that led to Lorne Cassidy being incarcerated for eight years. Lorne and Raina both want revenge. Despite their initial distrust, they are drawn to each other, tortured souls trying to find their place. Lorne and Raina are such strong characters, shaped by their own demons. They find solace in each other both physically and emotionally. Lorne is an extremely sexy, dominant alpha who will make your knees weak. I absolutely love him. I admit I said this about Jake and Jarret, but Lorne is by far the sexiest…dark and broody. “Booted”is a fast paced, riveting read that will keep you up late into night, you will not want to put it down. Highly recommended.Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
***5 ‘You’re So Extraordinarily Beautiful It Pisses Me Off’ Stars***
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Lorne’s book and when I saw that Raina was to be the woman who’d bring him to his knees, well, that just amp’d up my excitement and I must say that their story, as well as the conclusion to the series, was all kinds of goodness! It had just the right balance of dark and sweet, smexy and heart and a conclusion to this dark and chaotic journey that was quite satisfying.
I adored Lorne and Raina. They have both suffered at the hands of greedy, soulless men and situations beyond their control and because of them have a dark hollowness living in them because of it, but they both also have their own unique code of honor that drives them to protect and avenge those they call their own by any means necessary. While broody and distant, Lorne does what he can to walk a fine line that won’t throw him back into the darkness because he doesn’t want to let down his family. Raina, despite all that’s been done to her, is all kinds of fiery and not afraid to stand up for herself and nor is she afraid to show compassion to those who need it.
To say that Lorne and Raina’s journey was a rocky one is an understatement. With both damaged and trust difficult to accept, these two butted heads many, many times. But even as they did, they both ended up being each others greatest champions as they learned to accept the new situations they found themselves in. The smexy between them was intense, but it was how they saw who the other was beneath all the walls they’d both erected around them that made it clear they were meant to be together, if only they dropped those walls and truly let the other in.
Trails of Sin was a fun series and I wish we didn’t have to say goodbye because I loved the interactions between them all and would have loved to see them grow together. But, it is what it is and I am more than happy with how everything turned out in the end.

Booted is the final book in the Trails Of Sin trilogy and what an ending it was. It was violent, dark, brutal, amazing and beautiful. Beautiful in the way it brought two broken souls with jagged edges together, that shouldn’t fit yet somehow they do, not seamlessly mind you, there’s too much pain and pent up emotions for that but Raina and Lorne are perfect for each other. I enjoyed their journey and the way it all ended. I definitely recommend this book and series to those who love dark stories.

Booted is the final installment of Pam Godwin’s Trails of Sin series and it wraps up the series quite nicely with Lorne and Raina’s story. This dark cowboy romance packs a big punch in this sexy, steamy series.
Just released from prison, Lorne is having a hard time adjusting to being out. Having gone to prison at a young age, he’s struggling with being an adult on the outside. The only thing that makes him feel good is Raina, a victim of Jake and Jarret’s father’s abuse. They are two broken people who find solace in each other. That’s not to say that Raina is a pushover — she’s quite sassy and was a real delight in this story. Together they find common ground that brings them closer.
Booted ties up some loose ends and brings everything to a satisfying conclusion with some nice romantic suspense and plenty of heat. It kept me turning the pages which is always a plus for me. This is not a standalone — the first two books of the series should be read first for maximum reading enjoyment.
An ARC was provided for review.
I hear all the unspoken words in this beautiful love story. Dark, brilliant, sexy and sensual. Lorne and Raina have a broken past and come together in way that only Pam Godwin can master. Each character in the series is beautifully broken and the road to repair is a delicious burn. I loved the entire trilogy and hate to see it end.
I am completely in love with this book series. The darkness, the revenge, the love…. It is just so amazing. I was SO excited when this book landed on my kindle. I just knew that Raina and Lorne’s story was going to be amazingly good.
Lorne has been in jail for the past 8 years but he is finally free. I really love Lorne’s character. He is so rough and brooding from his years in prison, but with Raina something changes. I absolutely loved Lorne and Raina together! They love story had walls and obstacles in their way but I think it just made their love even stronger.
Raina has such a painful past, oh how I felt for her. I love how strong she was inside despite all of that. She is such an amazing heroine. All of the ladies in this series are so amazingly strong.
I love a story that has a troubled hero finding his way in the darkness only to find the light in a strong heroine, and this book satisfied from the start till the end. There are so many twists and turns in this slow burning romance that it will keep you on the edge of your seat. I am so sad the series is over, but I can not wait for these books to be on my shelf at home so I can enjoy their stories again and again. If you have not experienced Pam Godwin’s writing for yourself yet, please make sure you pick up a copy of this series. It truly is a 5+ star series.
Booted is the last book in the Trails of Sin Series and is Lorne Cassidy and Raina Benally’s story. The ex con and the prostitute. Neither chose what they are now. Lorne is finally out of jail after killing the wrong person. Raina’s life hasn’t been easy either.
They both fight the draw for each other. Neither willing to lose their hearts to the other. Both Lorne and Raina are out to right a wrong. I can’t say more because then I would be giving the story away.
I was very happy that both Lorne and Raina are healing each other. It was a fitting & satisfying conclusion for this series.
I loved reading Booted and also reading the Trail of Sin Series and I can’t wait to see what Pam Godwin will come up with next! I give Booted 4.5 Stars.
A little note from Pam Godwin:
Even though the books in the Trails of Sin series can be read as standalones. You will need to read them in order. TRAILS OF SIN series (HEAs with no cliffhangers – must be read in order):
Knotted #1 – Jake and Conor
Buckled #2 – Jarret and Maybe
Booted #3 – Lorne and Raina
“No mercy. No survivors.”
Booted is the final book in Trail of Sin series and is Lorne and Raina’s story. Raina is a survivor, motivated and fierce but she is also alone, jaded, detached and doesn’t do emotion. Lorne’s journey hasn’t been an easy or pretty one. He is a mercurial alpha who doesn’t like people and is trying to adjust to civilian life after serving his time in prison. But trust me when I say that you will not be able to read this book without being pulled under the stars with him.
“He’s a paradox of extremes. Temptation and aversion. Protection and danger.”
Darkness lurks within both of them and they are thirsty for revenge. While fighting their owns demons they are seeking justice and trying to right some of the wrongs that have been committed over the years. Booted is filled with angst, suspense, sexy chemistry, and a deep unbreakable family bond wrapped in a beautifully dark and brooding package.
“Listen to the wind. Listen to the silence. Listen to my gut. The universe speaks, and it knows.”

Booted is the third book in the Trails of Sin trilogy. If you haven’t read the first two, stop and go back and do so. This book is a not a true standalone; you are really need to read the first two to follow the story properly. The first book absolutely slayed my emotions and I couldn’t wait for book two. Book two was a bit less dramatic than the first, but still amazing. Booted as book three had me very cautious about the characters since you’d been introduced already. But the trip Ms. Godwin takes the reader on through these characters is worth all the heartbreak, drama, highs and lows.
This book is about closure and redemption. The whole trilogy is, and of course love. But not in a sunshine and rainbows and sex kittens sort of way. The plot breaks your heart and makes you scream at the injustice and cruelty of the world. But through it all, you see Lorne and Raina making choices that are tough, but carry their souls forward to goodness.
These are tough characters. I was a bit predisposed to not like Raina because of her actions in the previous books. And frankly, Lorne scared me. But both of them you want to pity them for their past, but you know that they’d absolutely hate that. No pity. No mercy either. But both have a strong sense of honor and pride. Lorne has so, so very much to deal with and catch up with after his prison sentence. Raina has her own past that clouds her present as well. I loved that despite the fact that you knew they’d get a happily ever after, there was so much intrigue and conspiracies they had to deal with before they could get to there.
You knew going in to this book that Ms. Godwin can write a sexy scene. But you had to wonder how Lorne would deal with being out of prison, and how Raina’s past would affect their chemistry. They didn’t just fall into sex, for so many reasons, and that made it worth the wait. Both Raina and Lorne had some issues to face and struggle with in order to have more than just sex; we wanted to see them make love and have a meaningful encounter…which was worth the wait.
Writing Style – Was the pace of the book steady, fast, slow? Did the author write in a way that was understandable to you? Did the book suck you in? Anything else you want to say about the author.
I was nervous about reading this book. How would prison have changed Lorne? How would Raina’s past mesh with the family? But the author drew you, wove excruciating and debilitating details into a tale that kept me up until I finished in one sitting. I loved the scraps and morsels of mystery and intrigue, mixed with seeing the previous couples, and the promise of a brighter future for them all.
The Epilogue of this book was one of my favorite parts. I was in tears with the way things turned out and was so glad it was there. The book would have been good without it, but it was breathtaking with it included. I thought all the issues dealt with in the book were done so with reverence and respect. I would recommend this book, and look forward to reading other books by Ms. Godwin.

Omg this book did not disappoint hot sexy Lorne keeps you loving these cowboys!!! Ashley @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Lorne is trying to adjust to the world outside of prison. Raina is healing from the trauma she has been through for the last two years. Watching these two come together is watching two lost souls find healing. These two help to bring the uncertainty of the family to closure and the happiness to burn through. This book takes twist and turns unexpected but I could not put this down!!!!
“I hear you.” His bottomless, vibrant green eyes swirl with startling depth. “Every unspoken thought. Every emotion you cover up.” His expression softens. “I hear YOU.”
The final installment to Pam Godwin’s TRAILS OF SIN series if finally here! I have been waiting F.O.R.E.V.E.R. for Lorne’s story. I was dying to know about the man he became after spending 8 years in prison for a crime he shouldn’t of been punished so harshly for. A man can not be the same after that, and Lorne was no exception. Lorne had to deal with trying to fit back into the world again, HIS world again. The people and land he called home before prison, are now foreign to him. He is left feeling lost and separated from the land and family he loves. On top of that, there is the continued threat against his family in the background and now there’s a new woman, Raina on the ranch, whom has a connection to the threat. She speaks to every male instinct within him. He hasn’t been intimate with another woman in 8 years and Raina is one tempting package that he having a hard time resisting. But Lorne is unable to fulfill that lingering need because he’s struggling to feel “normal” again, but once he discovers that Raina brings this sense of calm with her…a sense of peace for him, in the chaos that is his mind…that makes her even more alluring. And the fact that Raina is as much in danger, as his family, brings out his protective side. Lorne will do ANYTHING that it takes to protect his family and Raina, even if that means risking going back to prison. Some bonds are worth risking it all and his family is worth it.
Lorne and Raina’s story was my favorite of all the books. Their connection is instant and unbridled. It was beautiful to read about how their love for each other grew throughout the book, once they let each other in. I’m SO happy that we got more details about the other couples in the series (Jake & Conor and Jarret & Maybe)…the bond all these characters have was unbreakable and unconditional.
This was a turbulent, dark, emotional, and raw story that had some sweet and tender moments in there that smoothed out all the pain these characters had to endure. Lorne and Raina’s story is NOT as easy one and took me on a suspenseful ride. Raina’s past especially is hard to stomach and left me hurting for her. BOOTED tied up this series perfectly and left no loose ends. I was very happy with how everything ended. Pam Godwin proved again that I can trust her to deliver a story with compelling writing that keeps me interested from beginning to end.
5 stars
Years have passed as Lorne has waited to seek his revenge. Finally – the lost son is back at the Julep Ranch, and there is still some housekeeping that will need to be completed. Days and nights spent in prison have made Lorne anticipate life on the outside. Adjusting to all the changes at the farm and to modern technology, are harder to navigate than Lorne could have anticipated. The daily struggle for Lorne to find his place in his childhood home is taking a toll on his patience.
Then a call for help changed the dynamic once again. Raina is the one person who has been by Jake and Jarrett’s father’s side. A fact that is confusing for the foursome left on the farm. It is obvious that John is not treating Raina the way one would expect, but none of the residents of Julep ranch can figure out why. After a call to Maybe for help, Raina is now residing at the ranch. All of the answers that the siblings need will fall into place when Raina reveals the secret that she has been harboring for years.
Finding Raina at the ranch was definitely something that Lorne didn’t expect. As the two spent more time together, Lorne recognized the pain in Raina’s eyes. After all, like recognizes like. With a past as tainted as his own, Lorne quickly realizes there is more to Raina than meets the eye. Time will force the two together, but will it be enough for them to resolve all of the tragedies from their pasts?
Booted is the final book in the Trails of Sin series by Pam Godwin. It is Lorne’s journey as the final piece of the puzzle in the saga. Nothing has been easy for anyone involved in this deceitful tale of pride, greed, and murder. With the greatest weight on his shoulders by the tragedies laid before him, Lorne has finally found his way home once more. With Jake, Conner, Jarrett, and Maybe waiting for his return, Lorne throws a curveball in the plan that this group has been working on for years. Raina is the one person that Lorne cannot turn his back on.
In spite of Raina’s relationship with John, Lorne is drawn to the haunted past that brews under the surface of Raina’s soul. With his own demons lurking beneath the surface, Lorne has to learn to adjust to a new life in spite of the past. Revenge is now the name of the game, but the path to get there is littered with roadblocks. It’s a tattered road to redemption that will pull you into the plot with the force of the gale winds. Lorne and Raina have plenty of tragedy to work through. The path to get there will captivate you from beginning to end.
This series is full of so much depth and devotion. All of the characters hold the key to the angst, romance and suspense that creates an amazing series that simply cannot be missed. If you haven’t read the series, make sure you grab the first book in the series today!!
