“Pure perfection. The writing flowed seamlessly, the story heartbreakingly beautiful, and the characters… God, these characters are forever embedded in my soul.” ~ Erin Noelle, USA Today Bestselling AuthorThe night I’m released from prison, she’s in my bed. It’s been eight years since I touched a woman, and the Native American beauty is half-dressed, beaten, bruised, and devastatingly … bruised, and devastatingly exquisite.
We’re toxic together, but we want the same things. Blood. Vengeance.
Violent relief in a warm body.
Beneath her touch, I’m alive.
Against her skin, I’m redeemed.
Buried inside her, I forget the past.
Until the past takes her from me.
Prison made me cold, but losing Raina makes me cruel. Ruthless. Unforgiving.
I killed before. For her, I’ll kill again.
I’ll end this once and for all or die in my boots.
TRAILS OF SIN series (HEAs with no cliffhangers – must be read in order):
Knotted #1 – Jake and Conor
Buckled #2 – Jarret and Maybe
Booted #3 – Lorne and Raina

I loved this series! I loved how each book progressed, but the never took their eyes off the goal. I’m sad it’s over. Lorne and Raina brought each other back to life. I liked that their families built their ranch, but they brought it back to life. I loved Julep!
Lorne, mysterious Lorne! I’ve been waiting for Lorne’s story because he’s the character we knew the least about because he’s been in prison for the other two books (and if you haven’t read Knotted and Buckled then you must read them first, these are not standalones!!) And I had hoped based on the ending of Buckled we would learn about Raina, the Native American woman John Holstein controlled.
Lorne definitely lived up to expectations. You can tell he has a good heart but he’s struggling adapting to life outside a cell, constantly on guard with his hackles up. I really enjoyed his journey finding his place in this life and this family again.
Raina…man, I really liked her because she was willing to stand up for herself and had this whole holistic/one with the universe vibe but her views on sex were so screwed up it was a little hard to relate to her. Her body is the only thing under her control and she uses it like currency! The dynamic between them is a constant push and pull, neither wanting to budge an inch so that creates a lot of sexual tension, which is great.
This is the end of the series which is bittersweet but Pam ends it with a bang as usual, lol. I always enjoy her writing. “She pleasures me with passion. I love her with fire. Together, we reduce the night to ashes.” Yes, please
Epic conclusion to the Trails of Sin Trilogy but Pam Godwin. I’ve been hooked on these Cowboys since the beginning and was anxiously waiting for Lorne’s story. Lorne and Raina’s story exposed more twisted secrets from their past that showed how truly evil a person could be when driven by greed.
Lorne sacrificed his freedom in order to protect those he loved. Eight years later he is home, but still feeling like he’s in prison being unable to feel alive, unable to trust, unable to love.
Raina finally managed to escape the hell she was living. She finds herself in Julep Ranch. She had one goal in mind and will do anything to achieve it, revenge. Revenge on the person who hurt not only her but everyone at Julep Ranch.
Raina and Lorne’s lives were brought together by hate, anger and frustration. Their thirst for revenge brought them together. In their quest to help each other they learned about living again and learning to accept each other.
Loved the conclusion to The Trails of Sin Trilogy. Loved that this family that went through hell together, fought and came out stronger in the end.
Lorne and Raina are a match made in heaven but they don’t see it until it hits them right in the heart! I’ve read all 3 books in this series and this one is by far my favorite! Lorne is incredibly misunderstood after he’s released from prison by his whole family except Raina, she truly sees him and Lorne doesn’t know what to do with his newfound feelings for this dark and mysterious woman! Raina is guarding herself because of all the things she’s been through and Lorne is deteremined to break down those walls! Ugh, such a hot and steamy book!
Pam is the master of making us want ten more books about the characters she creates. Lorne and Raina light up the pages and give us an epic conclusion.
Perfect conclusion to this outstanding series!
Lorne is finally home after eight years in prison and in his bed he finds the beautiful and broken Raina. What transpires is a story of love, redemption and finally justice is given.
I loved Lorne and Raina, how they are so entwined with each other and seemed to just hear the others soul!
Pam Godwin delivers another spellbinding, beautiful and deeply emotional read.
So this is the story I have been waiting for and it did not disappoint at all. This book has angst which makes the book so much better. I couldn’t think of better way to end this book. It was just done perfectly.
So if you haven’t read the other 2 books then you need to before you read this one. You need the reason why they need this closure. You will fall in love with this twisted, sweet, sexy and determined family. They stand together despite what may happen and come out stronger in the end.
Lorne has been in prison for 8 years and there’s been a hole in the foundation. Once he’s out, he’s not the same person he was before. Prison changed him. He’s harder around the edges now and obviously wasn’t expecting a woman in his bed. Raina.. what can I say about her? She had to basically take care of her family her entire life. She did what she thought was necessary to help them out. She was used, abused and lied to.. She wants revenge and wants it now.
Both her and Lorne have this love/hate with each other but it turns out they both need it to make them work. It fuels the fire between them. This book will honestly blow you away! I was hooked until the very end. Both characters are incredible and have this way of bringing into their world. I must say I would love to hang out with all of them on the porch jamming out to all the songs. It sounds like such a great time! I will say I’m gonna miss this family so much.. They became apart of me..
Raina and Lorne have both walked a hard road. Thinking back now to what I read and how I felt, I just can’t even form proper words … They are two lost and broken people but they are each other’s compasses and each holds the glue the other needs to heal their broken … To say their journey is intense is an understatement. I thought that Buckled was captivating, well …. Booted just blew that to pieces. I could not move away from reading.
The journey of these kids (all four) didn’t start out to well for me, but man has it been a ride … emotionally, I think it might have broken me #TrueStory.
Pam Godwin once again blew my mind. Her story-telling skills are top-notch. You cannot read this book without starting at the beginning. Yes, each book is a road to HEA for one couple, but there’s an even bigger story that arcs thru these books and that story begins with book 1, Knotted. I wasn’t a fan of how the journey of these four people began (and I’m still not), but once I got past that, everything just unfolded exactly as it should have and I was never left asking why the author made the choices she did in writing the story. Brilliant!
“He’s my battle song in the war of love.”
Please make sure you read these books in order. While each book is about a different couple they are connected and you’d totally spoil the whole experience if you read out of order.
I LOVE Pam Godwin’s heroines in this series. They are all tough-as-nails survivors, broken seemingly beyond repair but give them the right man and they can heal, their scars beautiful evidence of their strength.
Raina experienced unspeakable things at the hands of Jake and Jarret’s father. Finally free of his torture she has only revenge on her mind. While hiding under Conor, Jake, Jarret and Lorne’s roof, she heals and learns how to kill John Holsten.
Lorne’s finally home after eight years of prison, hardened, closed off and frustrated with his inability to adjust and connect with people. His suite on the ranch feels like a cage so he sleeps outside. The firecracker who challenges him, who argues with him on a daily basis but who he also feels irresistibly attracted to is as broken as him so they are a disaster waiting to happen. Until he realizes that two halves can make a whole.
Despite Raina’s past being even more screwed up than Lorne’s she has kept a certain softness that Lorne totally lacks. For some time I wondered how they’ll ever find common ground – both stubborn as mules they fight, yell, spit their venom, purging the bitterness from the devastation their lives have become all the while feeling this inevitable pull towards one another. They definitely don’t pull any punches but with all that comes reluctant admiration and respect for one another.
Raina is a wonderful heroine whose strength just had me in awe. Whenever life kicked her to the ground, she got up, dusted herself off and soldiered on. Equally Lorne fought the war inside him and came out the winner on the other side. Again I loved the family dynamics of these six characters. Their interactions spoke of the love, protectiveness and care they felt for each other.
Booted wraps the Trails of Sin series up neatly. We get all the answers to questions we’ve had and all threads are being tied. It’s definitely a satisfying end to this series and the epilogue is the most beautiful cherry on top. I am truly happy that I had the chance to read and review these three books. While they had their dark times, there were also always more joyful moments that made my heart lighter. Pam Godwin has proven to be a reliable writer with a knack to capture and hold my attention throughout all three books. I wish this family was bigger. I’d read more about them anytime.
I have been wanting to read Lorne’s story the most out of this trilogy. After everything him and his family have been through, I wanted Conor’s brother to finally have a chance to be free and find love. But in this book, I think Lorne gets more than he bargained for in a hot tempered woman named Raina.
Lorne Cassidy has just been released from prison and back home with his family, but his memories of his time in prison keeps haunting him. Raina Benally just escaped Lorne and his family’s worst enemy, John Holsten, with only a hard shell covering her grief intact. Revenge for her family is the only thing on her mind, so when Lorne offers to help her prepare to go after John, Raina reluctantly agrees.
This is a very dark and twisted story about two people hardened by their horrific past who struggle to fight through their fears for the ones they love. Lorne and Raina are the perfect fit for each other with both understanding each other’s needs and fears on a deeper level. Plus their sexual chemistry is HOT!
Full of suspense and sexual tension, Booted was an adrenaline rush. The third book of a series, it must be read in order with the prior books.
Rania and Lorne have been fixtures of the Trails of Sins series. Getting to unwrap these characters from their perspectives was fascinating. We’ve only seen them through others eyes, and being in their heads was addictive. Neither has had it easy and their story had a rush of different emotions.
Overall, I loved Booted. It made my heart race and left me feeling good. The storyline is addictive and the sexy times force you to turn on a fan. I would recommend to the reader looking for an addictive series, one that makes you uncomfortable one moment, and swooning the next. Booted is the conclusion of an incredible series, and I can’t wait to see what comes next from Pat Godwin!
Lorne, mysterious Lorne! I’ve been waiting for Lorne’s story because he’s the character we knew the least about because he’s been in prison for the other two books (and if you haven’t read Knotted and Buckled then you must read them first, these are not standalones!!) Well the finale to the Trail of Sins series has arrived and it doesn’t disappoint! If you haven’t read the first two books you must or you will be lost in this dark saga. Lorne spent 8 years in prision for the murder of his sister Conor’s rapist and he’s no longer the happy go lucky 18 year old he once was. He’s a dark and dangerous man hardened beyond his 26 years. Raina has been with the family since Maybe her from John. She’s been through hell and back but that’s her story to tell. These two wounded souls have one thing in common, the destruction of John Holsten. Will they achieve that goal and is there more in life for them than death and pain? I’m not telling so you need to read Booted to find out! It’s told from dual POV and it’s loaded with angst, twists, heat and more. I highly recommend this trilogy.
~ The path to be the man he was supposed to become ~
Lorne was the oldest of their group, growing up all so tight with love and friendship there was nothing they wouldn’t do for each other. But the strength of their bonds were tested many years ago, the one pivotal night when Lorne had to do what he had to for his sister, an event which changed them all. And for Lorne, the further changes he underwent these many years in jail were not just physical, shaping the man he is the day he comes home.
Finding a woman who was recovering from physical abuse in his bed, however, was not something he expected. However, it was her identity which threw him for a loop…followed by his attraction for her which he forced himself not to act on until the game changed, and then it consumed them both. Slowly but surely, Lorne finds his way back to the man he was supposed to become, with the woman by his side who makes him whole enough to fit back into his family.
Raina has many hidden depths and talents she never had the chance to express. She draws Lorne out of his family withdrawal and reminds him what is important.
This is a perfect and fitting ending to all three parts of this whole tale, as we journey with them from the point where they are stuck between rocks and harder places through to their well-earned HEAs!
Lorne is one determined, sexy, alpha cowboy. Lana- White Hot Reads
Booted is the third book in the Trails of Sin series and it wraps up the entire series.
Lorne is dealing with the adjustments of life outside of prison and much to his surprise he finds a battered, bruise lady in his bed. Not sure what to think, he questions Raina. He grills her until she is defending herself. These two make one hell of a team. They push each others buttons like two people who love to hate each other. I HEAR YOU!!!
All Lorne wants to do is protect Raina and that’s what you get. The ending to this series was perfection.
I loved Lorne’s story! I knew he would be my favorite. Raina and Lorne’s chemistry is explosive and white hot!
Neither has had it easy while Lorne was locked up now he has to adjust to life outside of his small cell.
Raina is a fierce woman. She is strong beyond belief, how she survived what she has, it has given her a skewed view of some things. It’s a game of tug of war between these two and I loved it!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Booted is the third book in the Trails of Sin Series form Pam Godwin. You need to go back and read Knotted and Buckled first or you are not going to understand at all some of the things going on in this book. This is final book and it is Lorne and Raina’s story.
The night I’m released from prison, she’s in my bed. It’s been eight years since I touched a woman, and the Native American beauty is half-dressed, beaten, bruised, and devastatingly exquisite. We’re toxic together, but we want the same things. Blood Vengeance. Violent relief in a warm body Beneath her touch, I’m alive. Against her skin, I’m redeemed. Buried inside her, I forget the past. If you have been reading this series then you know that Buckled ended up with Maybe rescuing Raina from John’s house and bringing her to the ranch to stay in Lorne’s suite until he gets home. When Raina wakes up one morning she thinks she is alone but senses that she is not after she gets her bearings together. Lorne is sitting in a chair watching her and wants to know what happened to her. However Raina is not one to open up about anything and gives just as good as she gets and I guess you could say that these two clash. However with time and patience on both their parts they finally get to the heart and soul of each other and it is a beautiful and heartbreaking journey. I loved how these two grew to know what the other. How they saw into each others souls and could read each other so very well. I also loved the climax of this book as I was ready to kick some serious butt right along the side of these characters that I have grown to love and will remember for a long long time. This series is absolutely amazing and one that you do not want to miss. It is dark and ugly at times with you finding light in the most unexpected places. I am sad to see this series end as I have really really loved every book that has been in it. I would give it more than five stars if that was an option. I know this will be a series that I will reread many times over the following years. Pam Godwin has certainly blown this one out of the water as far as amazing must read never want to end series goes.
I cannot adequately express how desperate I was for Lorne’s story after it was revealed who his heroine would be; to be honest, I didn’t quite understand how Pam Godwin was going to bring these two together, knowing who Raina had been spending her time with and the fact that, that very man put in motion the event that led to Lorne’s imprisonment. But I trusted Godwin’s pairing and I knew that she would explain as well as prove to me that Lorne and Raina were the only two people who could heal one another, despite their pasts and the present demons they still need to fight.
The Lorne and Raina readers meet at the beginning of Booted are not the ones we say goodbye to when their story and the series ends. These two are like feral and wounded animals when Lorne is released from prison and Raina is brought back to the ranch after Maybe rescued her. They’ve both been imprisoned in life-changing ways, which means that returning to everyday living is beyond difficult, and Godwin captures this fact by the way that Raina initially characterizes Lorne and it’s through her perspective that readers understand how Lorne’s changed and what her ability to truly see him means for their underlying connection.
Readers will appreciate the fact that Raina shares her story with Lorne close to the beginning; Godwin doesn’t stretch things out or go too far passed what readers need in order to understand everything that’s happening and why Raina and Lorne are the only ones who can fend off each other’s demons and heal one another in ways that they never imagined possible as they went through their individual hells.
Lorne’s relationship with his sister and Jarret and Jake is another pivotal aspect of his and Raina’s story, and Pam Godwin illustrates the steps that all of them take to not only reconnect but also to be able to let go of everything that has happened to them and all that they’ve endured due to the decisions and actions of two men who were supposed to love them unconditionally. It’s a slow process, especially since Lorne finds reacclimatizing into this new version of his old life extremely difficult, but Lorne, Conor, Jake, and Jarret have always fought for everything they got and they’ve held steadfast to the pact they made that awful night that irrevocably changed all of their lives. And, now that their unit of 4 has extended to 5 with Maybe and perhaps 6 if Raina and Lorne can figure out their place in each other’s lives, there’s a lot of love and happiness to experience and I feel like together, these 6 can do whatever it takes to get their lives that they were always supposed to have.
I LOVED every part of this story even though it overwhelmed my emotions, my senses, and my state of mind. What these two tortured souls endured and how they work through their issues together, healing one another’s bodies, their minds, and their souls in that order is extraordinarily precious and Pam Godwin gives her characters that gift, even if Lorne and Raina have to fight each other, themselves, and the devils who still want their way with the two of them.
It’s impossible not to be swept away by Pam Godwin’s flawless storytelling and carefully constructed characters. Her prose always leaves me in awe because she is a master at meticulously stringing words and sentences together and that’s what draws me in as a reader and keeps me coming back to her dark worlds time and time again because even if the story is beyond jacked up and then some, I’ll always read whatever she writes because she definitely knows how to immerse her readers into her stories, even if they’re holding on for dear life every step of the way;)
5+ Poison Apples
Lorne Cassidy is unapologetic about his actions. After all that he’s endured, he paves his own way, and works his demons alone, to the dismay of Conor, his sister. Raina did not want to be attracted to Lorne, but the latter’s enigma calls to her soul. Their entanglement is just short of explosive.
Booted isn’t just about Lorne and Raina’s journey. It’s about the repercussions from a pact made by 4 people years ago after a horrific incident. It’s about the struggles and overcoming their challenges. Time and again, they prove that blood is not always thicker than water. They have each other’s backs. They are survivors and resilient. Their strength lies within themselves and in each other.
I’m not sorry to say that Jarret has been replaced by Lorne as my favourite dark cowboy. Loved this series and am sad to leave the residents of Julep Ranch.
Hold on tight ladies, Lorne is fire!
I have waited on pins and needles for Lorne’s book, and it did not disappoint! Raina and Lorne’s fierceness with each other is page turning. Pam has done it again, another epic and gritty tale of survival, trust and love.
This was my favorite of the trilogy!
