“Pure perfection. The writing flowed seamlessly, the story heartbreakingly beautiful, and the characters… God, these characters are forever embedded in my soul.” ~ Erin Noelle, USA Today Bestselling AuthorThe night I’m released from prison, she’s in my bed. It’s been eight years since I touched a woman, and the Native American beauty is half-dressed, beaten, bruised, and devastatingly … bruised, and devastatingly exquisite.
We’re toxic together, but we want the same things. Blood. Vengeance.
Violent relief in a warm body.
Beneath her touch, I’m alive.
Against her skin, I’m redeemed.
Buried inside her, I forget the past.
Until the past takes her from me.
Prison made me cold, but losing Raina makes me cruel. Ruthless. Unforgiving.
I killed before. For her, I’ll kill again.
I’ll end this once and for all or die in my boots.

Words cannot describe how much I loved this series!! Each book is better than the next and my ultimate favorite is this one, the story of Lorne and Raina. Lorne had been in prison and finally comes home and when he does, he meets Raina. All bets are off when he sees her, he knows she belongs to him and he will do what it takes to make it so. Raina is an incredible woman, strong, sassy, resilient and perfect for him. These two have such incredible chemistry that you can feel the heat come off of them. But they have something that needs to be taken care of before they can be fully whole together. This book wraps up the series and answers many questions. There are sensitive subjects in this book as with the others, but it is handled with great finesse. This author has such a way with her words, that every description, every word, will hold you captive and make your heart race and your emotions a mess, and I loved everything she wrote. I highly recommend this series. You will not be disappointed.
Booted is a perfect ending to a series that I enjoyed so much. Although this is Lorne and Raine’s story, it is the culmination of this series and now all of the secrets and lies have come out and the evil has been eliminated from not only their lives, but Jake, Conor, Jarret and Maybe’s. Now they can all find peace and love as a family!
I knew I was gonna love this book. When I read that it was going to be about Loren and Raina I got excited. I just love Loren’s possessiveness, How he speaks with his eyes, that got me right away. And his dimple, I’m a sucker for dimples. What a great way to end this trilogy. All the suspense and sex, perfect.
What can I say? Just another amazing series by this super talented author. So much steam and a beautiful storyline. Looking forward to the next series.
The depths this book brought me to was amazing! Totally brought me to my knees yet built me back up and made me feel so much. This book is gritty, its tough, it has horror and yet that is what brings the heart and soul back. This book showed horror and pain yet it also showed grace. It made me feel so many emotions that at times made it hard to push through. This book has incredible writing that pushes the limits yet that is what makes the ending that much more special. The writing shows what true and unconditional love is. I didn’t think much could top the first book in the series but this more than surpassed it. A great ending to a great series that I will be recommending left and right!
I was really excited about this book and WOW it was superb.
Pam is a beautiful writer she never dissapoints, she always hooks me in from the start with her unique stories.
Lorne and Raina are OMG just freaking amazing, im still stuck for words with this book so im gonna keep it short lol.
A powerful, devastating, emotional and epic story. This is book 3 so you have to read the first 2 books in this series so if you haven’t read them then go get them, you wont b disappointed.
Throughout the first 2 book I was constantly thinking of how Lorne was and now I finally know!
Amazing & absolutely loved Booted. Pam is such a great dark romance author!
Each book in this series is about a different couple and how they came together. Now all 6 of them are a unified group and will do anything and everything to protect each other. This book has a spectacular ending to the wonderful cowboy series.
Omg, listening to this book was amazing. I live how 4 became 5 then 6 and so well balance in everywhere. Thank good all the loose ends were tied up before the good times got better. I just love the twist and unexpected surprise Pam hits you throughout the book. Those were brilliant and left me speechless. Not to the mention the narrators were phenomenal.
This being the final book in this series was a perfect conclusion. These four wonderful friends who are in every sense of the word family, have dealt with unthinkable tragedy and have done terrible things for all of the right reasons. Booted is, in my opinion, a story of the most damaged of the kids. Lorne has had to deal with scary, serious issues that could have impacted him in such a horrible way that he could have turned into a person unable to love and do the right thing. His character just doesn’t allow that, but he needs the help of Raina, who is also dealing with her our horrible past. Great story, great characters and a serious page turner!
Booted is the conclusion to this Trails of sin, series. You must read Knotted and Buckled first before diving into this one.
Lorne and Raina’s story is the most heart wrenching of the three stories.
Lorne after spending 8 years in prison for killing a man after he watches two men raped and sodomized his sister while he was subject to watch in horror without being able to help her or stopping the event from happening. So much happened during those eight years behind bars, now that he has been released will he be able to adjust to the outside world? Can he get reacquainted with his sister and the twins who are like brothers to him?
In the meantime, Raina made a deal with the Devil himself, a feral man who has no respect for anyone or anything. In Knotted and Buckled we were introduced to Raina but were not aware of why she was with John on her own accord. However, when the truth is revealed it cuts your heart out with a spoon, why a spoon because it will hurt more.
What happens when Lorne finds Raina in his bed after being in prison for eight long difficult years? Can two broken individuals become one whole person? I know lots of questions that will be answered when you read this conclusion.
Pam Godwin pulls out all the stops with this trilogy, it’s a must read, highly recommended!
This is the story we’ve been waiting for and it’s finally here. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve loved the prior two books but I couldn’t wait for this book. Pam Godwin not only delivers a wonderful, heartbreaking story, but she does in such a way that you can’t help but fall in love with her writing again! We first met Lorne in the first book, Knotted. He’s tragic going away was hard not only the characters but the readers too!!!! Lorne is finally released from prison but he’s no longer the boy who went away, he’s a coldhearted, intense, little to no emotion beautiful man. Lorne is no longer the man his sister and brothers/best friends knew. He’s a stranger and he doesn’t know how to assimilate into his new world of freedom. He struggles with a mundane task and connecting to his loved one. The one thing that somewhat keeping him tethered is a stranger he found in his bed on his first night back. Raina is not only a complication, but she’s an unwanted connection to his past. A hindrance from moving on yet, he can’t help but get lost in her eyes. As these two recovers from emotional trauma, they start to find healing in themselves. Raina is complexity. She’s lost and doesn’t know how to build herself back up. She started down her path to help out her sister and she lost her along the way to a cruel man. After years of physical, sexual and mental abuse, she not only escapes from under him but she finds solace in the man’s children. Raina and Lorne are my favorite characters from this series. They both are beautiful broken but their pieces are made to complete the other. I don’t want to say more because I’d spoil the book for ya’ll. I recommend reading the prior books in this series to get a full understanding of this book. It’s my favorite PAm Godwin book! This book ends in a HEA and has no cliffhanger.
I really loved the entire series. Booted is the story of Lorne and Raine. They are perfect together, fire and ice. When Lorne returns home from prison, he is lost, until he finds Raina. There was so much happening in this book. Lots of hot sex, tons of mystery, and cowboys. Highly recommend.
This just keeps getting better.
I ‘ve been dying for Lorne’s story since the first book in this series and it was brilliant. Lorne had been through he’ll since that ni but 8 years ago. He has missed out on so much of his life and is finding it hard to get his life back to normal. His sister and best friends mean the world to him there is family and he would do anything to keep them safe. One thing Lorne didn’t expect to find when he got home was a stunning woman in his house. But things were far from perfect and he knew who was causing these problem. It’s was time to get everything back the way they were. He might not of been around but now he was and things were goin to get back to normal. He just never expect this stunning woman to get under his skin.
Raina life has never been easy from a very young age she has had to deal with so much. She grow up way to fast and saw things a young girl never should. And now things were still crazy and horrible. But she was back where she never thought she would be back at the Julep Ranch. She was safe there but she needed to do something and she needed to men help. She just didn’t think that Lorne would be the guy to help her. Things were’nt easy between them all but she would work and learn from the men. Raina just didn’t think that her and Lorne would get close they couldn’t stand each other half the time. They were just to a like and had both been through such a crappy time. She knew what Lorne needed and he was the same. They just never saw each other coming.
This book was just brilliant. I m so gutted this series is over its one of my favourite from this author. From book one this series was been so so good. There dark in parts but there written so well. The author really knows how to create great character and an amazing story. I ‘ve been hooked to this series from the very start. I couldn’t put any of the books down and it was same with this book. I luv how close these characters are after everything they have been through, they all deserved there HEA after what had happened. All the books are linked so I do recommend that you read them in order to keep the flow of the story. I recommend this book and the whole series. Like I said they are dark in parts but really enjoyed it. The men are so sexy I luv a hot sexy cowboy and there all strong protective alpha men. All with a different story of what had happened to them. You can’t help but get addicted to this series and author.
The conclusion to this fantastic series. You must read Knotted and Buckled first before diving into this one.
Lorne’s story was one that I knew would be a dark one. After spending 8 years in prison, it’s time to hear his story. He’s damaged after spending his young adult life behind bars. His life was turned upside down that night that sent him away. Now he’s home and a free man… Yet he feels like he is still living in a cell.
Raina has made the call, she is now recovering at the ranch. The one thing she needs is closure. With the proper training from Lorne, she will be able to accomplish the one thing that will set her free. Free from the 2 years of abuse, torture, rape, mental abuse.
Lorne and Raina are more alike than they are different. But the thing is, they fight about their likeness like poisonous snakes going after the jugular. Once they accept that they are there to help each other, life on the ranch turns into an all-in search for the man who caused all the destruction to begin with.
The sexual chemistry between these two is OFF The CHARTS! Once the mask is removed, the Richter scale measures 8 plus!!!
This conclusion was everything I wanted in a series. Booted offered an emotional story, angst, alpha-man, bad ass heroine, family doesn’t just mean blood related all rolled in to a great story!
Pam Godwin is the most consistent author I have had the privilege of reading.
Her books are consistently engaging.
Consistently something new.
Consistently well written.
Consistently books that I enjoy reading.

This book has everything – an amazingly strong heroine and a tortured hero who is willing to burn the earth down to right the wrong in this world. Booted is the last and best of this trilogy!
PAINFULLY RAW, UNAPOLOGETICALLY DARK, & DEEPLY MOVING!!!

WOW – AGAIN! I loved, loved, loved Booted! I’ve been hooked on the Trails of Sin Series since reading Knotted, the first release of the trilogy, a few weeks ago. Every once and a while, a book or series comes along that catches me completely off-guard and totally rocks my world, and that’s exactly what happened with the Trails of Sin Trilogy. I found myself in awe of the raw, unbridled power of Godwin’s passionate prose, a willing prisoner held captive by the strength of her words, experiencing a plethora of irrepressible emotions – amusement, anger, contempt, confusion, apprehension, anticipation, surprise, shock, anxiety, frustration, sadness, heartache, happiness, and loathing, each mounting in intensity as the story of the Holsten and Cassidy families unfolded. I snickered, snorted, sniffled, sobbed, shouted, fumed, shook my fists in anger, and outright ugly cried through the entire book. There were even a few times I wanted to throw my Kindle against the wall, but absolutely nothing could pry my ereader from my desperate, possessive grip! I was a total wreck and loved every single second! And more importantly, I never wanted it to end! I think I fell in love with 18-year-old Lorne Cassidy when he was introduced in the first book of the series as the older brother of Conor Cassidy and best friend to twins Jake and Jarrett Holsten. I waited with bated breath for Lorne’s story, but the hardened, troubled 26-year-old who returned home to Julep Ranch after being incarcerated for second-degree murder in a maximum security prison was not the same young man that left 8 years earlier. And what do I even say about poor 24-year-old Raina Benally, a Native American beauty forced to resort to prostitution for survival at age 14? Her entire life had been nothing but a nightmare with a drug-addicted mother, a terminally ill young sister, and an older man who only wanted to use and abuse her. My heart shattered for these two lost souls with kindred spirits, both having experienced unimaginable horrors in their short lives. These two characters were like fire and gasoline, combustible together, yet each holding the key capable of healing their ravaged souls and unlocking the door to love and happiness. Their journey was gut-wrenching, filled with pain and peril, but it was also beautiful and satisfying. Lorne and Raina were strong, brave, loyal, selfless, and independent but were also flawed characters living difficult lives in an impossible situation, with very few choices. A few times, I wanted to strangle them both, but I trusted Godwin and her vision for this couple, and she delivered, in spades, with a story that was imperfectly perfect and so much more than I could have ever imagined. Sigh… So dreamy! So, buckle up, folks; Lorne Cassidy is about to meet his destiny, his imperfectly perfect match, the one woman who will revive his cold, damaged heart and bring this sexy, broody, sinfully dominant cowboy to his knees. Now, that I’ve told you how much I enjoyed Booted, let me tell you why.
Booted is a riveting, perfectly-paced, easy to follow, exceptionally well crafted, full-length, standalone, contemporary cowboy/western family saga filled to the brim with pulse-pounding danger, heart-wrenching drama, spine-tingling suspense, agonizing angst, steamy passion, and dreamy romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, snappy, gritty, emotional, well executed, and flows effortlessly. But my favorite component of this moving tale is the cast of intriguing characters, many of whom were introduced in the first book of the series, and this is where Pam Godwin truly shines. I love the interconnected world and conflict for this series. I’ve read thousands and thousands of books and can usually ascertain, before finishing the first chapter, whether a book is plot or character driven and normally, it’s one or the other, one component being the strongest driving force for the story, but not with Knotted, Buckled, or Booted. Each element is well presented, skillfully developed, and equally strong throughout the entire series. Never has it been more apparent that Godwin is not only a gifted storyteller and skilled wordslinger, but also a master of her trade who possesses the unique ability to make her words flow effortlessly with a poetic, almost hypnotic quality. Her sultry, sensual prose is nothing short of spellbinding, enriched and enhanced by her cast of instantly engaging and endearing characters who truly captured my heart. They literally exploded from the pages, ensnared my imagination, and held me prisoner from the first page till the last. I was immediately smitten with the male protagonist Lorne Cassidy. Lorne was introduced in the first book as Conor Cassidy’s older brother and best friend to the Holsten twins. He was such a tortured soul, and who wouldn’t be after being sent to a maximum security prison only a month after his eighteenth birthday and then having to defend himself from hardened criminals for eight years. Lorne’s life was irrevocably changed when he killed a man after he, Jake, and Jarrett were forced to watch the brutal rape of his sister Conor on her sixteenth birthday. If you’ve read the first two books of the series, you know the shared nightmare of that horrible night was even more insidious than Lorne, Conor, Jake, and Jarrett could imagine, but it set in motion a chain of events that would tear apart two families, separate two lovers, and forever change the lives of many others. Upon his release and return to Julep Ranch, Lorne found himself facing debilitating symptoms of PTSD, a drastically changed world, a beautiful but very unwelcome house guest occupying his room, and a dangerous threat from the past determined to seek revenge and forcibly reclaim the beautiful, brave Raina Benally, now living and working at Julep Ranch. But Lorne was no longer the caring, compassionate, loving brother and best friend who entered prison at 18. He was now a hardened, cynical, untrusting, unfeeling man, as well as a formidable opponent, determined to protect his family and Raina, the woman who soothed his ravaged soul, and no one would take her from him. There were still flashes of his old persona, desperately struggling to be set free, and Lorne could still be devilishly charming and toe-curlingly sexy when he wanted to be, a real heartbreaker with a sexy swagger and a fabulously filthy mouth. And OMG, Lorne and Raina were brilliant together! They were like fire and gasoline, volatile, combustible, and an explosion waiting to happen, but they also complemented each other brilliantly. It was beyond entertaining watching Lorne and Raina dance around each other, desperately trying to deny their attraction. But some things are unavoidable. Fate is inescapable and these two lost, damaged souls were just meant to be together. Godwin did a remarkable job of showing the growth of these two characters over the progression of the story, both personally and as a couple. These two characters started out as adversaries, both with dangerous secrets, but the spark between them was glaringly evident in their first meeting and believe me, sparks did fly. Each encounter became more intense and more sexually charged until this unlikely relationship between two potential enemies exploded into a fiery blaze of undeniable passion and sensuality, which came as a shock to everyone including Lorne and Raina. This unexpected depth of emotion was new to them both. Lorne had encased his heart in ice and Raina hid behind a mask of indifference. At first, neither seemed to know what to do about their undeniable attraction, and it was so much fun watching them try to run from the inevitable. I couldn’t wait to see who would blink first. Lol… But their fate was written in the stars and so was their love. We all know the heart wants what the heart wants, and when Lorne Cassidy finally realized he wanted Raina Benally forever, nothing would stop him from having her. Godwin literally ripped my heart out – again – with Lorne and Raina’s impossible journey to find happiness and kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering and waiting to see what the future would hold for them, but an unexpected plot twist here, a shocking revelation there, a few painful secrets confessed, long overdue truths revealed, and voila – a happy ever after! And it was all done perfectly!
So, did I like this book? No, I loved it! Would I recommend it? You bet, and I am but only for adult readers since it does contain explicit language, sex, violence, and may contain triggers to those readers sensitive to rape and abuse. Booted is a dark romance with a violent theme and not for the meek of heart, but what lies at the heart of Booted is a heartachingly beautiful story, heralding a love so strong, it conquers all. Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!
This story had me from the beginning!! I couldn’t get enough of the characters!! The story keeps you wanting more to see how it will turn out for the couple! It’s the third in the series. Pam Godwin is amazing at her craft!! Absolutely love her work! Can’t wait for more!!

~~ 10 BLOODY BRILLIANT STARS!~~
“The things you carry today will strengthen you tomorrow.”
HALLELUJAH! At long last Lorne’s story has arrived!
I devoured the first two installments in the Pam Godwin’s dark and gritty Trails of Sin trilogy, which is set in the small dusty town of Sandbank, OK where sin, treachery and small-town corruption have run rampant. BUT THIS IS THE BOOK I HAVE BEEN CLAMORING FOR! I just knew that BOOTED was going to be explosive. Soul-shattering. Unflinchingly raw and oh so heartstopping. And I am happy to report that Pam Godwin totally nailed it!
THE STORY:
Lorne Cassidy has spent the last 8 years in prison after gunning down the wrong man in the aftermath of his baby sister Conor’s brutal assault in book one. And when he finally is released and returns to the Julep ranch, he’s a shell of the man he once was. But buried down deep beneath the mean, surly, alpha-hole attitude and barely bridled rage lurks the ferociously courageous heart of a broken down cowboy who still “loves as passionately as he fights.”
And though the other three of the quartet (Conor, Jake and Jarett) have been living for his return, it’s far from the happy reunion they all envisioned. And, alas, there’s a new resident of the Julep Ranch—a wounded Native American beauty sleeping in Lorne’s bed–and this surly ex con is NONE TOO PLEASED!
After suffering mightily at John Holsten’s hands, Raina was rescued by Maybe Quinn (Jarett’s girl) in book two and offered sanctuary at the ranch that he once called home. When Lorne first lays his laser sharp gaze on her she is covered in bruises and physically weak as a kitten, but spiritually he senses she is a mighty warrior.
Raina has led a very hard, horrendous life, and has done whatever it takes to survive. Her one reason for breathing? To put Jake and Jarret’s evil daddy in the ground, payback for destroying her, body and soul. And though she and Lorne are constantly at odds, this scrappy spitfire senses a wild stallion in this dark, formidable cowboy and accepts his offer to help her deliver comeuppance to the back-stabbing bastard who has ruined them both.
Before long their mutual quest for vengeance sparks a heated, furious passion that blazes out of control. But when all is said and done, will their blood thirst pave the way for soul deep healing and an undying love that’s written in the stars?
MY MUSINGS
BOOTED lassoed my heart and took me on an exhilarating adventure of epic proportions! As always Pam Godwin wove an intricate, beautifully complex love story that resonates, and Raina and Lorne’s stormy, enemies to lovers romance is the STUFF OF LEGENDS!
This final chapter is hands down my favorite in the trilogy and is it any wonder? Nothing titillates me more than a dark, brooding, deliciously domineering cowboy who meets his match in a feisty filly, and their journey WRECKED me. And HEALED me. And gave me GOOSEBUMPS and SHIVERS GALORE!
Sob! If anyone deserves a slice of happiness its Lorne. This embittered, emotionally bereft ex-con just decimated me!! He has been to hell and back and his years of incarceration have taken its toll on his psyche. Lorne’s now rough and ruthless and edgy AF, has got a sharply honed KILLER’S instinct, and though he will always have a soft spot for his loved ones, acclimating to normalcy on the ranch is NOT easy. And it doesn’t help that he has this beautiful, ornery thorn in his side that arouses his passion and his ire in equal measure!
“He’s a paradox of extremes. Temptation and aversion. Protection and danger. A slow burn and a quick fuse. There’s no middle path with this guy.”
And Raina…oh my heart! This Native American goddess who is so fierce and brave and “beautifully hopeful” is the embodiment of a woman with true grit! She too has endured the unthinkable and is Lorne’s match in every way!
“She’s a fathomless desire with bewitching brown eyes and pouty lips sucking on my soul.”
Together these two are FIRE AND ICE. Their chemistry is off the charts, and I LIVED AND BREATHED every angry, passionate, spark-filled moment that flared off the page. Their encounters are Intense. Explosive. Combustible. Mercurial. UNSTOPPABLE!
But looking into her haunted eyes is like a mirror to his own tortured soul and infiltrating Raina’s defenses when his guard is equally impenetrable ain’t an easy feat. However, beneath the hostile glares, razor sharp barbs, scorching caresses, deliciously dominating kisses and scintillating power exchanges lurks two kindred spirits who are BOTH fighting their demons out there in the dark. And together, they just might be able to bring each other into the light and make each other whole.
Red hot titillation and heartbreaking angst aside, this book is also packed with action and suspense, and the overarching mystery plot comes perfectly full circle in the end! As the blood oath that Jake, Conor, Jarret and Lorne made all those years ago reaches a chilling climax, I was on the edge of seat, clutching my chest, hyperventilating with anxiety. And holy moly is the final showdown MIND-BLOWING! Past wrongs are made right and long over-due justice is finally meted out. Closure at long last is attained. And…sigh…love, serenity and eternal happiness for this close-knit Holstein-Cassidy tribe is the ULTIMATE REWARD!
BOTTOM LINE:
In BOOTED, Pam Godwin dished out an E.P.I.C conclusion to her rollicking dark cowboy saga! This ELECTRIFYING denouement celebrates the powerful bonds of love, friendship and family and proves that revenge can be sweet indeed!
A MUST READ!
I enjoyed reading this trilogy!
I have loved this series, its starts out really hard to read but is soooooo worth it in the end. From book one you fall hard for Lorne and Pam Godwin does not let you down with his story. I highly recommended this series. I really loved Raina and Lorne’s chemistry. They were hot! Lorne’s was sexy. He wanted Raina but not without her wanting him. Raina was tough, she is a survivor. Booted was a great conclusion to the series. The epilogue was fantastic.
