Second chances were never more seductive than those in this brand-new Buckhorn novella… The day April Kasper offered herself to Boone Barton is etched in her memory–for all the wrong reasons. He turned her down flat. Five years later the humiliation still stings, but April isn’t a naive kid anymore. Now that Boone is back in Buckhorn, she needs him to see that she’s older, wiser and over him. … and over him. Or at least two out of three…
Back then, Boone was a bad boy–no question. But even he knew that sweet, smart April was off-limits. Now though, it’s an entirely different ball game. No matter how hard he’s tried to forget her, she’s plagued his dreams. So he’s back in Buckhorn to prove that letting her go was the biggest mistake of his life, and a wise man never repeats his mistakes…

I want to move to Buckhorn, KY! All these stories are just so sweet, with family, friends, and dogs.
In this book, Boone, who was a bad boy in high school and into his twenties, has returned to Buckhorn after the death of his father. He is a changed man after spending the last five years with his father as his father died of cancer.
April had a crush on Boone while she was in high school, but he was six years older than April and managed to never be alone with her. Now he is back and they are both adults.
Included with this book was a novella, Tucker. Tucker is not from Buckhorn, but he is now the sheriff of Buckhorn. Kady Kasper is a flirt, but that is all she does. So when she flirts with Tucker he thinks he is one of many. But he soon finds out he is the only one. All these books have HEAs, which makes them so enjoyable.
Boone and April’s story was a sweet and sexy little read! Even better, the proceeds go to a wonderful cause! Besides that, I’m always up for an excuse to revisit Buckhorn and their residents!
Love Lori Foster!
Oh man, Boone was well worth waiting for! The only thing that could have made this story better is more of it!! I absolutely LOVE Boone and April. He’s a major hunk that is also one of the sweetest and most drool-worthy heroes Lori has written! April is feminine and gorgeous, yet is feisty, caring, and also sweet. The Buckhorn Series just keeps getting better! I just wish I could give this story more than 5 stars!! If you haven’t read Lori’s books, you don’t know what you’re missing! This is one sexy and romantic story!
Love Lori’s Buckhorn series, and Boone is sexy alpha goodness. I reread the whole series begining to the last before the next one comes out. One of the best things beside a great read is that each of her buckhorn books benefits her chosen animal shelter. Win, win.
Love being back in Buckhorn. April and Boone have both grown up.

Boone was a novella within the Buckhorn Brothers series by Lori Foster. It was still one of my favorite all time series and I loved catching up with our Buckhorn favorites of all generations.
Boone grew up in Buckhorn but moved away when his father became ill. April Kasper (Gabe’s daughter, Original Buckhorn) had crushed on the slightly older Boone when she was a child. He broke her heart at seventeen, but not in the way you would expect. He was now back in buckhorn five years later and ready to claim what was his.
Foster took us through a quick, fun and flirty plot. Boone had his work cut out for him. And, of course, April’s extended family was uber protective and practically owned Buckhorn, so that added to the fun.
I was a Boone fan from the start so I totally loved it. It was great to get a new story and to catch up with the old. Hopefully there is still more to come from Buckhorn and Foster!
Love visiting Buckhorn again and reading about all my favorite brothers.
I enjoyed my visit back to Buckhorn, this time with April Kasper. I liked that Boone & April had somewhat of a history together but they never dated. Boone had his reasons why but didn’t explain anything to April years ago. It was so much fun to see them talking, connecting and sharing their pasts. I loved seeing her Dad & uncle’s too, their personalities have not changed at all. I just wish, like I always do with this series, is that the story was longer.
Every year Lori Foster writes a “benefit book”. All author proceeds go to an animal rescue charity. This would be worth supporting even if I didn’t love the book, but I love the book! Ms. Foster writes with such passion.
The fictional town of Buckhorn, Kentucky is the setting for these benefit books and many other ones. If you have read the Buckhorn series you will be familiar with some of the minor characters in this story, but you can enjoy the read without knowing anything before you start.
The love story between Boone and April is a sweet and sexy story. These are novellas, not full novels, but the second-chance romance is hot! April is trying to stand on her own feet without her extended family “taking care” of her, and Boone cares enough to let her do it herself. Ms. Foster packs a lot into a novella! A fun read! I think you will enjoy it.
I received an ARC and this is an honest review.
I am a great fan of Lori Foster and love all of the Buckhorn series.
and it includes Tucker!
Lori Foster delivers another heart warming story from Buckhorn, Kentucky.
Short, sassy and and oh so satisfying! Each year for her annual Reader Author Get Together event, Lori Foster adds a new novella to her beloved Buckhorn Brothers series with royalties going to benefit a charity. This year we have the pleasure of watching Boone return home and reunite with the one that got away. It’s a quick read full of snark and sass that gripped this reader’s heart quickly. Obviously we don’t get a huge amount of turmoil and strife in a novella length book, but the author manages to secure the likability of the characters easily and leaves us satisfied that they are on their way towards that happily ever. Highly recommend the series and especially this years contribution to it!
Five years ago teenage April Kasper laid her heart at Boone Barton’s feet and suffered the humiliation of outright rejection. Now that she’s heard he’s back in town, she’s still embarrassed over what happened and wishes she could show him that she’s grown up from that girl and no longer carries a torch for him.
Boone Barton wasn’t unaffected by April all those years ago and to tell you the truth, she’s never been far from his mind since he left town … but he knew he wasn’t sticking around Buckhorn back then, and he knew he was far from good enough for her. Now he’s back, he’s a changed man, and he’s going to put his heart on the line and see if she’s interested … if only she wasn’t still holding a grudge for his rejection!
