A very well-written cozy mystery!
Maisie’s job as the manager of the elite Oceanside Hotel in Florida is perfect. It provides her a place to live with her mother and affords her time to write murder mysteries as well as a good salary. Unfortunately, life soon mimics fiction when a well-known hotel guest is found dead and the hotel owner questions Maisie’s competence. Maisie is determined to solve the case before the owner decides to end her employment.
I enjoyed this well-written cozy. The plot was well developed and had some interesting twists that kept me guessing until the end.
Awesome. Well written, great entertainment. Love the character development. Author makes their world come to life.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love this series. Maisie, Mamma and Bingo are quite the threesome. The ladies each have their quirks and Bingo is a doll!
Booked for Murder is a great start to a new series – Oceanside Mysteries. Well developed characters with great quirks. These are folks you could know! Quick read with some misdirection in terms of solving the murder. An ideal cozy for whenever you need a break.
This book will keep you interested. Maisie is the manager of a motel. During a Comic Con, a game inventor is so I d dead in the pool. With a long list of suspects, Maisie must find the murderer while keeping her Momma and her dog, her boss, and spiteful employee happy.

I purchased Booked for Murder by CeeCee James and this review was given freely.
Booked for Murder by CeeCee James has it all : A complex murder mystery with foreshadowing and multiple false leads, a smart and quirky heroine who happens to write mysteries on the side, a wealthy love interest, a disgruntled co worker, and a humorously eccentric mother. This is a good introduction to the series.
This was my first on a couple of levels. My first CeeCee James book and my first audio book. I’ve had this author in my TBR pile for some time and I’m so glad I was finally able to listen to “Booked for Murder: An Oceanside Mystery”.
In this first book of the series, Maisie Swenson is starting her new job as Manager of the Oceanside Hotel. There is a convention booked so she’s jumping right in and little does the part-time mystery writer know that she’ll be trying to solve a murder. Love the quirky cast of characters, especially Maisie’s mom and their basset hound Bingo. There are funny moments and it’ll keep you guessing until the very end.
I don’t have anything to compare it to but I think the narrator did a great job and I have to say I’m hooked on audio books!
Thanks so much CeeCee James for this experience. I look forward to the next adventure at the Oceanside Hotel.
***** Such a Fun Whodunit!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I must say, it dovetailed perfectly with my cardinal rules of engagement. Right off the bat I was drawn into the story by its charming prose and the two loaded-with-appeal principal characters, Maisie and her mother. When an inexplicable murder happens involving several suspects, a bitter colleague nemesis who thought she should have gotten Maisie’s job keeps appearing, and a slow, potential love interest hints at future sparks, how could I not keep going until the very end? And to top things off, by making this well plotted story take place at a hotel, James has created an environment rife with lots of unborn possibilities for future books in this series. Definitely recommended!
