He’s too hot for words.MiaAlex Lawson might as well be the hottest book boyfriend imaginable. A fun, romantic, possessive, panty-melting man. And the best part? He’s real. For a girl like me—a slightly awkward book addict—Alex is a dream come true, straight off the pages of my favorite romance novels. But our story is turning into a whirlwind romance—the kind that only exists in books. Are we … that only exists in books. Are we heading toward our own happily ever after? Or is he too good to be true?
Alex
Here’s the thing: I’m not a bad guy. Lying to Mia wasn’t part of the plan. Finding success as a romance author using a female pen name wasn’t part of the plan either. But sometimes life takes unexpected turns.
Like realizing the woman you’re falling for is your alter-ego’s online best friend.
Online, she thinks I’m a woman named Lexi. In person, she knows I’m all man. I want to worship her body and claim every inch of her. But if she discovers my secret, I could lose everything.
Book Boyfriend is a stand alone romance with a guaranteed to make you swoon HEA. It contains mature language and content and is intended for a mature audience. Fair warning, ladies—Alex will melt your panties off, so have an extra pair on hand before you one click.

Amusingly meta
A very well written story; a fun, twisty, romantic story with very hot sex scenes, tho not skewed too much that way at expense of a lot of heart. Very relatable characters. Amusingly meta and full of in-jokes and other references for hard core romance readers. I really enjoyed it. A fast read.
I recently read CK’s two beautiful and deeply moving books, Remembering Ivy and His Heart, and fell in love with her style. Book Boyfriend and some of her other earlier works seemed to be presented as “CK-lite” reads. So, when I went on a recent cruise, I bought this book thinking it would be a quick and light read that I could easily put down between ports, but boy was I ever wrong! I COULD NOT put this book down and once again found myself sucked into a well-developed and well written CK book well into the night just so that I could learn what happened between Alex and Mia. And then when I was done with this book, I downloaded the next two books in the trilogy about the hero’s siblings as soon as I could get a wifi connection.
Just like her other books, CK wrote the hero and heroine of this story, Alex and Mia, with a lot of depth. I loved Mia’s quirky qualities and Alex’s ethics since he originally broke it off with Mia once he found out who she was because he didn’t want to be dishonest with her. But despite his good intentions, they found themselves thrown together again by fate and then he could not resist her.
Overall, I loved how this book pays a bit of homage to those of us who love this romantic fiction genre and also bc I’m from the PNW too, I loved all of the local references. I can’t wait to dive into more of CK’s series books!
Claire Kingsley is a new author to me. I took one look at that cover and figured, why not? This sounds like a story that could totally happen in real life, why wouldn’t I want to get into this book?
This book! OMG. This book was everything! Alex Lawson….where can I find one? I mean, come on. He’s quintessential book boyfriend material! Sexy, gorgeous, loves books, is attentive, (did I mention SEXY) takes care of and loves his family, is a writer of romance novels, (did I tell you he’s SEXY as all hell?) and is just an all around good guy.
Mia is your average girl. She has a job at the local hospital, has friends but prefers to be a homebody, loves her romance novels and runs a blog under a fictitious name! Mia has become good friends online with Lexi, an amazing author with whom she has a friendly relationship with and they support each other like they’ve been friends with one another their entire lives.
On a trip to the local bookstore for a signing, Mia literally runs into this absolutely stunning man, Alex, who offers to buy her books for her. What guy does that? Only a book boyfriend would do that. No average guy would ever think of something like that. They instantly hit it off and so begins the journey of their whirlwind romance, which seems to jump off the pages of a romance novel. And you know Lexi gets every detail imaginable 😉
“Happily ever afters exist so rarely in real life, they might as well be unicorns.”
Every single time I read a book, I can just see the story play out in my head. I often wonder if men like the ones in the romance novels really do exist somewhere in the wild. When I read Book Boyfriend, I could just see this book play out in real life. It made me feel as though any one of us could have a romance like those in books, that is how well the story is written. I mean, who doesn’t want an Alex of their own??
To say I adored this book would be an understatement. Alex and Mia are just an impressive couple. The romance is stunning and the sex between them was hot, very sexy and yet so very sweet. You just know this couple is meant to be together. But with such a high standard Mia has set for a boyfriend, is Alex too good to be true? Can Mia protect her heart while falling head over heals for Alex? Was this romance doomed from the start? I highly suggest you read Book Boyfriend and find out!
What a creative book. I loved the entire concept that Claire Kingsley came up with. Alex was awesome and I felt like Mia was so relatable. The fact that their relationship was brought full circle in was amazing. Not many authors can start you off with the “oh crap” moment, then tell you the rest of the story. I am sorry I waited so long to get into Claire Kingsley’s book. I can’t wait to read more of them!
This was my first book from this author, but it’s definitely not my last! The premise and characters were well thought out and incredible! Alex and Mia were a terrific pair and I can’t wait to read the books for Alex’s siblings. I love when I find a new author and book that I like and it’s part of a series!
This sweet, sexy, emotional, and swoon-worthy love story will take you on an unforgettable adventure that is sure to leave you beyond happy and your heart full. From the moment I first opened the book, to the second I finished it, I was transfixed. I didn’t just read this story, I lived it. Every truth, lie, happiness, and anger was felt to my very bones.
Book Boyfriend is a fun romantic read! As an author and avid reader, I LOVED the characters and plot. How could a story not be fun with a romance writer and avid romance reader as the main characters? Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
My first Claire Kingsley listen! I absolutely loved it. Alex is the ultimate book boyfriend with some romance writer knowledge built into him. You can’t go wrong with Mia & Alex! Awesome narration by Maxine Mitchell & Stephen Dexter.
Alex is a romance author but he has pen name for various reasons. He befriends a blogger, Bookworm Babe aka BB, through his books they have become good friends. Chatting online and messaging daily. When Aria literally bumps into Alex at the book store the instantly hit it off. But when Alex discovers that Aria is BB he panics. He doesn’t want to lose Aria but he can’t let his identity come out. Secrets will always come out to bite you in the butt.
This was a fun and cute book. I enjoyed the romance author/blogger aspect of the story. It was kind of fun. I really enjoyed this book. Alex was super swoony and Mia was fun and quirky. They fit together perfectly. While the conflict was predictable I loved how the resolution played out. Like I said, fun and cute book. Would recommend.
3.5 Stars. This was a cute romance with LOTS of steam. I really didn’t mind the trope, it was hidden from the h for a while, but it didn’t bother me too much since it wasn’t done maliciously. Alex was the perfect book boyfriend, and Mia fell for him immediately. The only thing I didn’t love was that she was so painfully clumsy. I understand awkwardness, but this was a bit over the top for me.
Such a cute rom com! Loved this book and can’t wait to read the rest in this series!!!
Not sure why this is only my second Claire Kingsley book. Totally hooked a new fangirl. This one was about Mia (a clumsy, nerdy book blogger) and Alex (romance author) and the book boyfriend we all dream about. Absolutely loved this book and there meet cute was amazing.
Confession: I started this book months ago, but just wasn’t in the right frame of mind.. I put it down to come back to later and that turned out to be this week as I struggled with a serious book funk. I started and stopped four books before picking this up again. I love this author’s writing and stories, so I tried again. This time I read the whole series in 2 days.
At first, I had a tough time with Alex not coming clean with Mia right away about his other identity. As I got further into the book, I did come to understand his reasoning for the secret at the beginning. I was still kind of upset with him that he allowed it to go on so long, but that allows for their black moment to be what it is. Despite that, he was a hero that I appreciated because he was not afraid to pursue his dreams and because he was putting so much effort into taking care of his dad. I love Alex’s family and the way they support each other.
Mia is adorably awkward. I loved her clumsiness and her lack of verbal filter. I have had similar things happen to my clumsy self, and I really related to her. I love that she pursues what makes her happy, despite family disapproval and judgement. I like that she and her sister are so different and that their differences lead to tension. I think a lot of sister relationships are like that. Mia brings humor and light to the story and I really loved her character.
This story has a beautiful HEA once the secrets are exposed and forgiveness is granted. This book is written in first person with dual POV.
One word…perfection!
Alex, is a male romance author, with a female pen name, Lexi.
He is exceptionally great at what he does.
Mia, is an anonymous book blogger, Bookworm Babe. She had turned a hobby into a part time career.
When her and Lexi become friends, she can’t help but tell her everything.
When they bumb into each other at a book signing, sparks fly.
It doesn’t take long for Alex, to figure out who Bookworm Babe is and things get complicated fast.
Things move pretty quickly and even though they are perfect for each other, these secrets can tear them apart.
One of my favorite lines: I miss her like she was oxygen and now I’m left to suffocate.
Well developed characters and hot love scenes, had me begging for more.
OMG this was soo cute. I loved this premise. Male romance author writing under a secret female pen name (Lexi) meets Mia and on their first real date he realizes she’s Lexi’s best book friend online and a popular book blogger. I won’t go into more details than that but it was wonderful. And he was a great BBF! The ending was perfection especially the epilogue. Big Swoon!
I absolutely adored this story! I love how Mia was kind of geeky, sometimes clumsy, and a book worm. What can I say about Alex? Ooh la la. He is such a sweet guy, and the way he is with his dad makes him even more of a catch. Unfortunately, life is never just black and white, there is always a gray area. Alex and Mia both have secrets that could ruin any chance for a happily ever after. This was such a sweet romance, but it still brings the heat.
This was the first book I had of yours so I didn’t know what to expect. I have have now read three books in-as many days.. I loved the twist that the man was the one with the big secret .. of being a romance author !! Love this and I can’t wait to read all your books!!
So enjoyed Alex & Mia book! I loved this storyline & Isabel of the characters. I cannot wait for more from this amazing group of characters!
Oh this was just so good. I loved the characters and the story. it was just a really nice read.
This is the first book I’ve read from Claire Kingsley and it definitely won’t be my last. I can’t wait to read the next two books in this series. This book was hilarious, it was sweet, it was steamy. I couldn’t put it down.
Mia loves books and I mean she LOVES books. She runs a romance book blog online and befriends a famous romance author, Lexi Logan. She also works in a hospital. She is quirky. She was glasses, she says awkward things and she is clumsy. Pretty much I’ve claimed Mia as my spirit book character. Alex is a struggling writer who follows the suggestions of his sister to start writing romance novels. Knowing it is difficult for male authors to make it in the romance world, he writes under the name Lexi Logan. What happens when Alex and Mia bump into each other? Will their other identities come out?
Alex is truly the definition of a book boyfriend. He is gorgeous, he is sweet, he is romantic, he is attentive, plus hello, the man writes romance novels so he definitely has done his research.
This book was quick read and I was hooked from the very beginning. I love the way to story was told, it was a little different from other romance novels that I have read.
