He thought he’d eluded the assassins, but in a plaza in … in a plaza in Marseille, France, the assassins now have him in their sights. A very intriguing thriller. I learned much about Tangiers as well. It took a bit to get involved but soon I couldn’t put the book down. Children are being kidnapped in Tangiers, both Moroccan and “white” but there is no ransom demand. Collins comes in for hire because one of the victims is related to the local police who are investigating poorly.
Bones of the Innocent was a fun read. It takes place in post-WW2 Tangiers. Somewhere I’m not familiar with, but I had no trouble feeling like I was there. The author did a wonderful job of pulling the reader into an exotic locale and keeping me reading late into the night as the clues kept pouring in. Nothing is quite what you expect and yet it all makes sense in the end.
Read the book. You won’t regret the time spent with fascinating characters in a novel situation. Sometimes the good guys win.
This book is about a man on the run from killers who goes to Tangiers to investigate a young girl’s disappearance.
Reading this book was like watching a Humphrey Bogart black and white movie. It just had that feel with exotic local and a variety of characters who could be good or bad depending. A good mystery too.
Poignant story well written drew me in
Excellent crime thriller.
Who’s kidnapping teenagers from the streets of Tangiers? Mason is hired to investigate the disappearance of three girls from wealthy expats living in the city, since the local police are either unable or unwilling to purse the crimes. Before long, Mason also becomes a target.
This is a riveting story with a plot full of twists and turns. Commiseration or anger toward the parents will depend upon your viewpoint but you’ll find yourself drawn into the story. Hang on to your seat as you urge Mason on as he tries to solve the case. Can’t wait to read another Mason Collins story!
Enjoyed the characters
Another book I couldn’t put down and will be looking for more from this author and Mason’s adventures.
There are many positive reviews on this book i totally agree with them! I came away with the understanding one person can make a difference if you are committed to your beliefs. There wasn’t any reality to stop the main character from his beliefs. Love the story and i found another great author to follow.
When diplomats’ children are among the missing, it sparks a big investigation into the missing youths. Tangier is a melting pot of many cultures and distrust of other cultures is a key element in this narrative. The dialogue points out the problem with multi-languages being used in a very small country. Distrust between ethnic groups hampers straight forward investigations. Disparity between the haves and have-nots is everywhere.
The author keeps this story going at a fast clip and a well-scheduled reading interval will help with the book. The climax is rewarding and satisfactory.
