I’ll save her from the darkness of her pastFrom the moment I lay eyes on her, I know I’m in for a wild ride. Before I even know her name, I’m throwing punches to protect her, and but she’s not afraid. Not of me, not of anyone. I can’t tell if she’s a foolish little girl trying to play it bad for a night or if the shadows in her eyes hold darker secrets than even mine, but I don’t give a sh*t.The … but I don’t give a sh*t.
The more I get to know her, though, the more I realize just what I’ve gotten myself into. It’s not a good time for romance with the war between the Heartbreaker’s and Diesel flaring up again, but she doesn’t have me thinking with the right head.
Then I found out what she lived through, what she survived. I won’t let her face that alone. Not again.
The devil that’s chasing her isn’t going to let either of us go without a fight, and it’s going to be bloody.
She deserves a hero, but I’m the best she’s got.
Bones is a standalone series romance novel from bestselling romance author Alexis Abbott! Book 2 in the Heartbreaker MC series. Safe from cheating.more
Redemption or reprieve. This one is a bit dark and twisted. I was incensed with the mayor and his choice of money over humanity! I liked how quickly Bones showed caring and concern about Lauren’s problems and he wants to protect her and takes action. He already knows there is a connection between himself and Lauren. I liked Bones’ method for taking Lauren’s mind off her problems. Effective! The villains are twisted psychopaths, depraved and diabolic in their planning and plotting. Drastic twists and a savior arrives in time. Check out how it all goes down to a happy ending.
Love the story between Bones and Lauren. Lots of twists and turns that keeps you flipping the pages. Love how Bones protects Lauren from their first time in seeing each other. Their ending is beautiful.
When Bones walked into the club bar, he never expected to become a hero. It just happened. A faceless woman in need of protection was all it was. But when Bones finally got a look at this damsel in distress, what a face. What a beautiful woman he’d just rescued.
Lauren’s past is littered by tragedy, perhaps that’s why she lives the way she does. Lauren leads a pretty simple life, although every so often she craves more. She doesn’t understand her desires but she has them and they are simmering just under the surface. She may not act on them, but she wants to. When she meets Bones, the opportunity presents itself and there will be no going back. When Bones eventually learns who Lauren really is, his need to protect her becomes even stronger. He needs to take away all her sadness and pain. As they become closer, there are people in their pasts who want to want to bring harm to them, respectively. Bones must rely on his chosen family, the Hearbreakers MC for help keeping Lauren and himself alive.
DIRTY, FILTHY AND SO GOOD ! ! ! INTRIGUING STORYLINE WITH UNEXPECTED TWISTS THAT YOU WILL NOT SEE COMING ! A WILD RIDE WITH LOTS OF CRAZY, INTENSE SEX ! ! ! AWESOME READ !
Rough storyline. A happy ever after that was hard fought for. They made it but it was rough getting there. This one just didn’t sit well with me.
This book explores emotional pain and guilt and can be dark, but it was realistic, moving and poignant. If you like MCs and hot romance then you will enjoy this read too.
I don’t like helpless and really screwed up female characters.
I didn’t see that coming! Great story and character building. So glad she found the power inside of her to free herself from the past. The twist was GREAT! I would read this again.
So many twists and turns. You don’t know where the craziness is coming from. Lauren’s story is horrible and shows you what evil there exists among humanity. And then to be abandoned by her family such a disgusting bunch of people. When she meets Bones he saves her from another horrible fate of being drugged. They click instantly and are inseparable. But she is damaged and believes she needs to be punished for her fathers sins and the blood in her veins and believes she is jinx of bad luck and no happiness. He soon helps her to slowly heal and realize she was never at fault. Then more craziness happens and more shocking twists and turns that leave your jaw hanging on the floor. Wow just wow.
** spoiler alert ** I am so disappointed with this book. I usually love everything by Alexis Abbott, but this one had some major plot holes and some issues I had in general.
1) Random-Dude-At-Bar who tries to ruffle Lauren was a “military hero” but nothing ever happened with that. I was raised as a military brat, and later married military. I know there are bad guys in the military, and but what was the point of having this dude be military other than to say he was a bad-ass before getting his ass handed to him by Bones? I was kind of bothered by that.
2) Shortly after we find out about Murray Smyth, Lauren mentioned the only thing she kept from her past was the name “Lauren”. It mentions that mom stood by dad, not daughter. Then, when Bones contacts mom she says, “her name was Raylene not Lauren”. Huh? The cop calls her Raylene too, to which Lauren replies, “It’s Lauren now”. Doesn’t sound like she kept “Lauren” from her past, so what gives?
3) Shortly after Lauren and Bones meet, Lauren faints. This gives Bones a chance to search her house. I get that. We never learn why she fainted.
4) When the gunner(s) fire at the beach, Kate is grabbed which is when Lauren runs. Cut to the next scene with the guys and there’s no mention of Kate, was she let go? When? Just all of a sudden she’s back with everyone else? Who the heck was the chick with the sprained ankle? And you’re telling me that Bones, Breaker, and Ironsides ran at the gunner and NONE of them caught him or got shot? But he was able to elude them and kidnap Lauren? In front of an entire motorcycle club?
5) Bones kicks in the door to the shack, and Lauren doesn’t make any noise when he does? She just stays quiet until he finds her in the back corner after listening to part of the trial?
6) Why wasn’t Samantha (or whatever the victim’s name was) testify at the trial or compassionate release trial of Murray Smyth? It’s just Lauren against everyone?
7) How in the hell did Bones not high-side his bike nearly killing himself and Lauren while trying to avoid Kevin’s truck? And, really? Kevin just pulled over to talk to them? How did the cops know to show up? I thought they were in the middle of no where? So who called the cops?
8) Other than a red herring, what was Murray Smyth’s role? It felt pretty anticlimactic to never even see the dude in person. But all of a sudden Kevin is Lauren’s half-brother from another family? She was TWELVE when dad when went prison. How much older is Kevin anyway? And how did he track a BURNER phone? For that matter, Kevin claims to have set Lauren up with the ruffie. She NEVER went out until she decides to one time (and why was she dressed slutty if she is antisocial?) and Kevin is ready to have someone ruffie her thinking he’s playing into her fantasy? How would Kevin even KNOW she was thinking about going out?
Okay, I could obviously keep going, but I am done.
He never expected to give her a lift home or be invited in for a drink by the beautiful woman he stopped being drugged, but he knows he sees the same desire he feels in her eyes. She doesn’t want to answer him on why she was going to a biker bar but wants to thank him.
Lauren has never felt like this before, it feels like sin and heaven at the same time. Lauren knows what the dark side is like she’s touched it and this man has dark inside him, but will she unlock it or set it free. It’s what she’s wanted, he’s perfect, but then her world goes black.
Bones knows that she’s not like any woman he’s met before, she’s staying in a place like she wants to get away from everything. Wanting to find some aspirin, he finds envelops and a clipping about a kidnapped girl, wondering if it’s her and finding a name on her mail, Lauren Lockett. All he knows is she’s hiding something he can see it in her eyes and for some reason she trusts him, and he’s going to help her lose the sadness he sees.
Bones has a dark past that seems to match Lauren’s. He saves her from more torment and potential horrors and so their story begins. Between stalkers, shootings and the long process of opening up they both start to see the light. Looking forward to the next book.
This is book two in the Heaetbreakets MC series. This book is about Bones and Lauren. They will take you on the ride of your life. Their story is packed with danger, surprises, twists and more! This book is highly recommended. You will be pulled into the story and will not want to stop reading! I love the push pull between these two. Plenty of heat! Check it out! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance copy of the book from the author. I can not wait for the next book in this series.
Bones, a member of the Heartbreakers MC, heads to the biker bar to get a drink and ends up saving Lauren when he sees her being mistreated. Loved how protective Bones was over Lauren. I like that we not only get to read about how Lauren and Bones meet but we get to read about them years later. This is an action packed story filled with suspense, secrets, characters with great chemistry, steam, unexpected twists and a fantastic ending.
Second book in this series, but can be read as standalone…
…steamy, with twist and turns, lots of action, suspense…
Can’t wait for more…
This is the 2nd book in the series. You do not need to read the stories in order, as they are standalones.
This book is about Bones and Lauren. We don’t hardly know anything about Bones or his past life. We don’t know how old he is. We know a lot more about Lauren, and her troubled past.
Lauren has been on her own since she as 16. She doesn’t hardly have anything to her name. She keeps to herself, is quite and always alone. She has been running and looking over her shoulder for a few years now.
Bones saves Lauren one night at a night club / bar. Although he is a rough and tough biker, he knows when to help someone out. He has a good heart / soul inside of him. He has never seen Lauren in town. Her eyes are full of sadness and he knows she needs help, even though she says she doesn’t.
I did receive a free ARC copy of this book from the Author. I am freely leaving an honest review.
Wow, another awesome MC (motorcycle club) romantic suspense by Ms. Abbott. Bones is part of the Heartbreakers ND and considers them family. They try to keep they’re town safe no matter the cost to themselves. Lauren believes she holds little worth but when she meets Bones in a bad all help breaks out. The story within this story is heart wrenching and could contain triggers for anyone who has suffered abuse. I really love the characters and storyline as well as the intrigue, suspense and romance. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Abbott especially in this series.
3.5 Stars
This is the 2nd book within the Heartbreaker’s MC series related to Bones and Lauren’s story.
Lauren Lockett aka Raylene Smyth childhood was a shambles and horrifying but she survived. She resulted a new life in hiding from her past but not without fears and scars as her running came to a halt. She was rescued from an incident at a bikers bar by Bones that ended with him discovering she has some interesting preferences and secrets.
Bones is the member of the Heartbreakers MC in Wyoming. He is at the bikers bar and noticed a peculiar incident by a nefarious man and take action to prevent harm to the female patron. He is initially standoffs due to a pending Diesel disputes on the club but later discovered Lauren is not affiliated with his enemy.
The story was filled with twists and turns, suspense and danger at every corner but abandoning resolution of several issues. I’ve read Ironside’s story before this one and I loved it!
******I voluntarily received an Advance Review Copy of this book in exchange for my honest review******
Her world as she knew it, ended, she wasn’t even a teenager yet. At sixteen she became emancipated and went into hiding. She is tired of hiding she wants to do the things other young women her age do, so she decides to go the the local bar. When Bones sees the guy getting ready to roofie the young woman her is talking too, he jumps into action. Unfortunately, the man he puts the beat down on is not only a decorated Marine, he is also a congressman’s son.
Wow, fascinating, sexy, unique characters in an action packed read with suspense, a mystery, and totally unexpected twists in the plot. I loved this book, it is fantastic.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
A thrilling related but standalone in the Heartbreakers MC series. This focuses on Bones, who rescues the mysterious Lauren in so many ways. I really liked the premise of this story. It had a lot of layers to it, so if you like fast-paced stories with lots of things going on, you’ll love this one. I really liked Bones but I struggled to connect with Lauren in the beginning. Her character was not always consistent and I would have liked to see a bit more backstory as to why she did certain things, and how she survived. Overall, it was an enjoyable read and I’ll keep reading this series.
I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.
This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and is Bones and Lauren’s story. Both of these characters have a dark past, and from the moment he rescues her from a situation is a bar, he is determined to protect her no matter what. What will happen when both of their pasts come back to haunt them? This is a well written story which is intense, intriguing and steamy, which all have be captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more in this series, and I recommend for all.
