Gladys gets more than she bargains for when she climbs aboard her first cruise and witnesses a murder. Armed with wigs and wits alone, she determines to get to the bottom of things. An entertaining short read, this cozy mystery is a spinoff from the Ooey Gooey Bakery Mystery series.
This cozy mystery was so fun! Gladys is on her way for her first cruise with her new husband. Things on board will get really interesting when a murder happens. Gladys is an amusing character! She may be older, but she gets herself involved in some interesting situations. There are some characters in the book from the Ooey Gooey Bakery series. I enjoyed the narration of the audiobook.
Bonbon Voyage is such a fun cozy mystery book! It’s a very quick read (I read it in under 2 hours) with lots of humor and excitement packed in. I’ve not read the Ooey Gooey Bakery Mystery series, but you really don’t have to to enjoy Gladys and her honeymoon adventure. I absolutely love Gladys and her antics. From beginning to end, Bonbon Voyage will have you chuckling and rooting Gladys and her new found friends on as they solve the mystery. I’d love to see these new friends in future books. I think they’d make a great detective team! Whether you’ve ready the Ooey Gooey books or not, put Bonbon Voyage on your TBR piles for an entertaining, eventful read!
Bonbon Voyage by Katherine H. Brown is an exciting way for Gladys to solving mysteries on her own without the girls help.
Who killed Chef Antonio, and why?
Gladys
Gladys is our main character and sleuth in this one. That’s right; the nice little old lady is going to be solving a mystery without Piper or Sam around to help her. Gladys is on her honeymoon cruise, and right off the bat, there is something wrong with her husband after they have left port. She tries to make their honeymoon special, and every single time she tries, he doesn’t like it. Once there was a murder, he was, even more, busier than usual for her, and she has no clue why.
I like Gladys and especially with how she is able to solve this mystery without the help of Piper or Sam. Granted, she did have support, but she was able to solve it.
Mystery
The head chef of the entire cruise was tossed overboard, and he drowns. Everyone thinks its an accident and doesn’t seem to believe that it was anything more than that. Gladys knows differently and wants to try to solve this mystery. How to do that when she can’t call the two sleuths, she knows best. Gladys doesn’t look for clues, nor does she do anything that a sleuth would do since everyone believes it was an accident. The only reason Gladys solves it is because she was trying to figure out what was going on with her husband.
Three Stars
I figured it out early on in the book about who killed the head chef, just not with why. I still didn’t get the why until it was explained at the end. Bonbon Voyage by Katherine H. Brown is getting three stars, and I am recommending anyone who likes to read cozies.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
