Wade Lockwood is a liar. A fake.A fraud in a suit with a smirk that overwrites everything I ever told myself to steer clear from. But he wants me, and in all Wade Lockwood fashion, he doesn’t allow things to not go his way.He keeps me locked into our agreement, daring me to put myself in one hell of a position to get myself out from under his thumb. He wants forgiveness, but that’s the last thing … that’s the last thing he’ll ever get from me.
I could care less about what sins he’s committed against others or how he got to where he is.
All I’m concerned about is erasing him from my life, taking whatever means necessary to ensure I never have to see him again.
A plan that proves to be easier said than done when my mangled heart—that traitorous thing—still beats for him.

Hazel grace has done it once again. Her words and story have captured as enthralled me for. The very beginning of this series, and this book absolutely slayed me!! What a wild and crazy ride she just took me on!!
This book will take you on a ride with no breaks. The suspense, steaminess and craziness that ensues wade and Reagan are mind-blowing and INSANE!!! Truly – it’s best to go read it yourself and ride the crazy train with me.
Wade and Reagan’s story continues. If you thought book 1 was amazing – which it was- this will only make you fall deeper for these characters and this author. Amazing, heart wrenching story that will stay with you long after the last word.
You know the feeling you get when you reach the very top of the roller coaster and you are looking forward to the rush of the drop but at the same time you are holding on for dear life and want to get off of the ride? Those are the exact feelings I had time and time again while reading this book. What Wade and Reagan had to go through from chapter to chapter had me on the edge of my seat. Just when you think you are now safe and can continue reading, you turn the page and BAM, you hit the ramp and start the ride all over again. Stand up and take a bow Hazel Grace, this book was emotionally draining, heart wrenching and harmful to a good nights sleep. You did not disappoint!!
Insane!!!!! What in the What just happened!!! This book was crazy, This Couple is EVERYTHING!!! I’ve been dying to read this since I finished Catfish and it was well worth the wait! I Love this author and her ability to knock you on your a33! Bonafide was a great read full of angst! I can’t tell you the number of times I screamed at my kindle! Wade and Reagan have so much happen throughout this book, I’m exhausted. Get ready to have your world rocked! I was blown away! Secrets come out and just obliterate your heart! I could have killed for Reagan and slapped Wade wayyyyyy too many times to count. This book has a lot more going on than the first book, It’s still ridiculously sexy, and I think everything flowed well. I was on the edge of my seat and biting my nails off while reading this. My emotions were everywhere and I had lots of mixed feelings, and pep talks to myself that Karma will come! Gah! I’m trying not to give any spoilers. These two characters are so heart-wrenching! I loved their story, it’s not an easy one but it’s an epic one! This ending was Amazing and it left me dying for more! I’m hooked and have a new most anticipated read! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Where do I even begin?
You know what? Why don’t we change things up a tad and start at the end?
No spoilers here, but let me just tease your curiosity by saying that you’ll have a surprise waiting for you in the end of this book; one that I didn’t realize I wanted until it landed on my lap. And now, I’ll be here not so patiently waiting for it to land on my kindle instead.
Now to the actual review.
I’m exhausted – and I mean that in the best way imaginable.
Hazel Grace herself let me know that I’d definitely need a breather while reading this one and oh boy, was she right.
At all times, tons of new information and scandalous details are being thrown your way, you’re constantly holding on to the edge of your seat to see what’ll happen next, the twists and turns are endless and the emotional toll on your psyche becomes a little to much to bare… – you’ll decidedly need to step away for a small bit.
But don’t worry, you won’t be able to stay away from these two for too long.
Believe me, I know.
This push-and-pull pattern they have going on is not stopping anytime soon and so you’re left with some ill-advised actions and wrongful assumptions from both parties and it’s easy to forget they don’t know the whole tale, only you do.
You’re the one with privileged acess to both their minds, thoughts, feelings, surroundings – basically their own version of the events.
You know it all.
At times, I wanted it sit Reagan down and just ask her what the hell was that about and why on earth would she do something like that, knowing it would only bring more pain and misunderstandings, while at the same time, wanting to slap some sense into Wade and just tell him to get on with what he knew he had to do already so that he and Reagan could finally be happy.
But then I would remind myself that l was privy to so much that they weren’t aware of.
Also, life is complicated, even in books; you can’t just swoop in and make it all better.
Besides, where would be the fun in that?
Hazel Grace did it again.
I honestly don’t know how she’s able to get me hooked time and time again, with her haunting stories and flawed, twisted-morals type of characters but I always fall under her spell.
I regret nothing.
“The Illusive Duet” is angst-ridden, heart-wrenching, action-packed, deviously twisted, passion-filled and ultimately dangerously addictive, beautifully written and I’m willing to bet that it will stay in the back of your mind for quite some time after you put it down.
The plots keep thickening and twisting, the blows keep coming from where and when you least expected them to and everyone’s just holding up by a very thin thread.
Are you ready to see everything go up in flames?
Please, be my guest: join Reagan and Wade on this final stretch of their journey and witness how it all comes to its conclusion.
I’ll tell you now – it’s not gonna be pretty, more like a very bumpy ride but since you’re here, I’m guessing you’re probably way pass the warning stages, aren’t you?
So, go on then, you Vixens.
Wade Lockwood awaits.
It’s about to go down.
This is Book #2 and the conclusion to the Illusive Duet. It picks up where Catfish left off. I loved Reagan and Wade in Catfish. Thet cliffhanger had me anxiously awaiting this book.
Reagan is a strong, independent, strong, confident, and witty. She doesn’t put up with Wade’s crap. The banter back and forth was entertaining and funny. Wade is a politician. He’s strong, self-assured, charming, sexy, and stubborn.
This book continues where Catfish left off. The breakup lasted for a while. During this time, they sleep with other people multiple times (sexy scenes are included). I didn’t love that at all. A lot happens at this time, and it drug on. Really, there was too much going on and it was overwhelming.
The book does pick up towards the end. The best part was when Wade and Reagan got back together. This is not a conventional love story and there may be some triggers so readers beware. The book does have potential, I just think there was too much going on.

Bona Fide by Hazel Grace is book Two in the Illusive Duet Series. This continues the story of Reagan and Wade so you really need to read the previous book ‘Catfish’ before starting this one. This does pick up with Reagan and Wade being a part working to move on with their lives. Regan has shown that she is a strong women and Wade has a lot of stuff going on that it hard to handle sometimes. This book kept me turning pages but I did have some upset with them but I don’t want to give spoilers. Overall enjoyed this Duet.
Loved loved LOVED Wade and Reagan. Hazel is an amazing author and all of her books are a must read!! Reagan is a take no BS type of character and I love that she puts her foot down and stands up to Wade. Wade, ohhhhh boy Wade! He is swoon worthy!!! If you haven’t read Catfish then go grab it first. This duet will not let you down!
After reading Catfish by Hazel Grace I simply had to read part two of Wade and Reagan’s story. I really needed some resolution of storylines.
Book Two starts out with a punch to the gut of craziness. The author dove into the deep end off the cliff with out look at the start of BF. The bucket of cold water that she writes just adds to the chaotic nature of the whole series. So many shocking moments and gut wrenching in this story. This was not in any way a predictable story. The author has a unique way of telling a story.
The twist and turns of this story at times is overwhelming but over all I was hooked and had to see how it ended. This is a long story with 50 some chapters but even then, the story is engaging and will keep you guess. The best part of the story is the characters themselves. They are imperfect humans with lots of baggage. Wade and Reagan have an amazing connection that has you holding all hope that they will be able to overcome every obstacle and find contentment in each other’s arms.
This book is an angst filled political romance or romantic drama. There are lots and lots of drama for sure. If you are a big fan of drama and angst filled romance, you will want to read this series. This was a 3.75/5 Read for me. It filled all my expectations of the series. At times, the chaos is hard to keep track of. It is one big moment after another and at time becomes overwhelming and hard to keep track of.
Reagan and Wade have a wild ride in this conclusion to their story. You have to read Catfish before reading this. The banter and chemistry between burns off the pages even more than the first book. There is angst and drama and a separation that lasts a while. What I found different and somewhat liked was that we also get to see them in those other relationship before they finally come together again. It’s intriguing and mind boggling and messed with my mind. I couldn’t put this down.
Bona Fide is book #2 in the Illusive Duet, so make sure to read Catfish first.
After I finished the first book, I was curious to see how this love story would go on. I wasn’t expecting such a rollercoaster. All those ups and downs, twists and turns made me dizzy.
This book was long but interesting. I liked it much more than the previous one. Reagan and Wade have been through a lot and I’m glad their love has survived. It fills me with happiness and hope that in a world of lies and manipulation, true love will survive the worst.
love this book so hard. Hazel never disappoints me. Everytime I think I am safe she yanks my heart out and stomps on it. I was hooked the entire way through this book.
I love/hate Wade. He is sinister and complex. Holy mother of secrets.
This is one heck of a good roller coaster ride that you don’t want to miss.
I highy recommend this series!
I was anxiously waiting for Bona Fide to release after reading Cat Fish, especially after reading that cliffhanger and Hazel Grace delivered an amazing one of a kind story that blew me away! The Illusive Duet is one of my all time favorite reads that I will reread again and again.
Wade and Reagan’s story is volatile, messy, and heartbreakingly beautiful crazy. I was mesmerized
with these two since Cat Fish and I couldn’t wait for more. This book is full of twists and turns that made me cry, mad as hell and full of nail biting anxiety trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The ever resilient Reagan has been through hell and back, but she came out fighting every step of the way. Reagan is ballsy and doesn’t give up, but when her heart was left gaping open at the end of Catfish her life turned upside down. But how do you give up and turn away from Wade.
Wade is devastated when Reagan won’t even talk to him and give his explanations but he knows it’s probably for the best. But what happens when he’s stuck with the one person he can’t stand and the one he loves has said goodbye. Oh Wade had my nerves shot and I may have needed a couple of glasses or margaritas with the stress he put me through. But through all of the backstabbing, lies, betrayals and surprises I felt like I was on the same journey with Reagan and Wade. I felt all of their emotions. This duet was wonderfully written and I’m just that it’s over. This book is worth more than 5 stars and is a must read!
This book started out right where Catfish left off. This book will make you cry & scream. It will break your heart a million times then put it back together. Will Wade & Reagan continue to fight for each other? Read it to find out, you will not regret it!! Be prepared to get mindful*ked!!!!
Bonafide is book two in the Illusive Duet. I really liked it. There was so much that went on in this book. Wade and Reagan had such a Rollercoaster of a relationship. The back and forth was definitely frustrating at times but I did love them together. The chemistry and connection was explosive. Wade was so swoony everytime he put her first. Reagan was just so great! I loved her. Can’t wait for Marty’s book!
I have read all of Hazel Grace’s books, starting with Arranged (Array Series 1) and have seen the progression of her writing increase with each book. This writing is completely at its best in the Illusive duet.
Catfish, book 1, knocked me off my seat onto my ‘bass’. I was sucked in from the word Prologue. Wade has been my man since that first paragraph (sorry Dee. You get him first, but I also lay claim to him). Catfish was one heck of a ride, that I was not ready for, but COMPLETELY loved!
So, Bona Fide comes out and I thought, ‘what is the cliffhanger queen going to do to us now’? Simple answer, a lot!! If you were looking for an easy wrap up with a cute little bow, go someplace else. You will not find that here. Now, it does not mean that there may/may not be a HEA involved, that is for you to find out. It just means in either scenario, HEA or no HEA, you will be taken on a ride.
Bona Fide continues with the ever-tumultuous Reagan and Wade. Reagan is spicy, hot, not a pushover, can take care of herself and confident. She is full of witty comebacks, which had me snickering throughout the book. This does not mean that there was not angst and drama going on. At times, I felt like I needed to cut through it with a knife.
Wade has a whole other journey going on, his political journey and how to not become just another politician. When you think of the word politician, what are some things you think of? Confident, charming, relatable, goal-oriented, uncomplicated, and fearless come to mind? What about negative characteristics or people’s perception of them? Corrupt, dishonest, unethical, greedy, selfish, and bad judgment, to name a few! I will not give away what Wade does or who he is, but I will say, you really begin to feel the amount of pressure that is on his shoulders and how he tries to maintain the man beneath the political shroud. There are many things going on with Wade, but overall, you can feel how incredible of a MC he is. It truly is hard not to fall in love with him.
Hazel Grace is blossoming into an incredible author. Catfish/Bona Fide is evidence of that. There are massive amounts of angst, boat loads of drama, sprinkled with some comedic laughs and bucket loads full of hot, sexy, and romantic times. I HIGHLY recommend this series!!
From start to finish, it felt like I was reading a soap opera rather than a romance novel and I just wasnt feeling it. Too much was happening all at the same time and that just made my once hopeful reading experience dwindle down fast. I wont spoiler it too much but damn, the family drama was a hot mess and the back and forth between Reagan and Wade left a bad taste in my mouth. Sadly enough, I could see the appeal for other readers but this wasnt for me.
