What a crazy ride! You know those books that start off in crazy town and you wonder what the heck you are reading? The more you read, the more you’re thinking to yourself that maybe this just isn’t the story for me. Yet I just can’t stop reading it, I gotta see where this is going.
It always amazes me how an author can turn a book around. It’s happened before, yet it still shocks me when it happens again. This is one of those books. It’s the reason I try not to give up on them. I absolutely loved how C.D. Reiss turned this around for me. By the end of the book she got me hook, line and sinker.
The book started out with crazy behavior by spoiled, entitled actors and one sane nanny. I wasn’t much of a fan of Brad until almost the end of the book. Coming from a small town with normal folks, I was surprised by his behavior until things started to finally get real. I finally started to relate to him when he grew as a father and that’s when the author had me. The end was beautiful and I loved the epilogue!
Bradley Sinclair , Hollywood Star , is a man overwhelmed . He has everything a man dreams of . stardom, fame, talent, good looks , two Oscar nominations , a large mansion, countless girls, parties , booze……….and 5 year old girl , he just got facepalmed with!!! Like somebody pulls a cord in the middle of a loud and crazy wild party.
What is a stunned single , overwhelmed father to do ?
Go the Hollywood route and add to the Entourage of starlife…….hire a nanny !
There’s West Side Nannies. An elite, celebrity Nanny services company. So Cara DuMont gets hired as a Celebrity nanny .
And that’s exactly what a celebrity nanny is. Not only is she attractive but she’s great with the kids. She does all the things the dad associated with his normal upbringing, which is likely the upbringing he promised himself he was going to give his children. The nanny represents that failed promise. She kisses boo-boos, packs lunches, cooks what the children like, and sits to eat with them. His wife is usually in the business as well, and travels, works all hours, and manages a business team as well as the household team. She represents all the dad’s failures as a father, because she’s juggling everything but the children.
She’s determined and focused solely on Nicole Garcia Sinclair. An adorable , well mannered , lost girl and Cara brings calm in both of their world. But her world turns upside down . She becomes the much needed glue in the Broken and awkward relationship between the new dad and confused child.
“if you break a vase and glue it back together, it’s bigger after it breaks? The glue takes up space. The cracks add to it.”
She tries and succeeds in blending in the background of Hollywood spotlight that always follows the stars. Standing just over the edge in the darkness , keeping an eye on the stars’ accessory kids. The problem is , Cara gets invested in the kids and Brad gets invested in her.
It was so interesting to see the celebrity life BTS look in this story. Couple of years ago there was a scandal involving Ethan Hawke and his Affair with the nanny Ryan, where he married her.
MAYBE this story was inspired from there, I don’t know, but I can say for sure, matters of the heart rarely travel on a straight and easy path .
The story is simple , the progression natural and predictable . But the difference between Reiss and other authors , in treatment and narration , is Planetary . She not only paints a vivid picture, she exquisitely embellishes the thoughts and emotions with just the right amount of words.
Not more , not less. Just right!
I’ve never read a kiss being described so truthfully !!
He tasted like a bad decision. He tasted like the thing you always said you shouldn’t have done, but didn’t regret anyway. A little bit of starlight. The tart sting of the forbidden and the sweetness of a sin you think you’re getting away with.
And that’s where she justifies the title of Shakespeare of Smut. Though TBH I cringe at the genre. There’s hardly any smut. Her writing is purely romantic , intermingled with Sass.
There’s no lip biting virgins, no alpha with OTT endowments or “you’re so tight, you’re wet for me,I was moist and throbbing” cliches you read in cookie cutter romances all around.
The story has a heart, it has a soul and I could feel it so bad that I ended up pitying Paula , where I was supposed to hate her. Cock-blocking kids, stolen moments of passion, real life travails, a haunting secret that Brad has that almost tears them apart , and the reason why , all these make a very authentic story of a very starry lifestyle couple .
I am a hard core Reiss style of writing. Nobody writes like her .
The scene in Disney resort , was so hot and pulse pounding ….. My hormones rushed through my blood like marauders setting the village on fire.
See what I mean !
Always such a JOY reading her books. It’s like after a long dry drive, you come back to the manicured gardens of your home. You can smell the fresh grass and the contentment you feel is what I feel reading her words. Smell, breathe deep and feel the story seeping in <3
Zip it, Lock it, Put it in your Pocket !
5 teacup stars
I really enjoyed this one once I got past how much Brad screwed up at first. Also, not a big fan of a male protagonist being named Brad.
However, the story was engaging and romantic. So bonus!
He was the hurricane and the eye of it. A constellation of angles and planes that curled around the world and complemented it.
With quotes like that how can you go wrong? I fell in love with everything about this book. Movie star bad boy Brad Sinclair get a bombshell dropped in his lap in the form of an adorable 5 year old from a relationship he had long forgotten and his life is changed forever. Play by the book nanny Cara DuMont isn’t thrilled to be the newly assigned caregiver to the box-office playboy. She has rules, no celebrity fathers and don’t fall in love with the children she cares for. Who knew that Brad and Nicole would be the ones she would break all her rules for.
This book was impossible to put down. I’m always up for something different when I’m looking for a new story to read and reading about a movie star meets and falls for nanny story sparked my interest. Cd Reiss nailed this book TO. THE. WALL. I didn’t want this book to end.
What happens when a cute little five-year-old is dumped onto the lap of a self-centered Hollywood actor? What if you add a pretty nanny to the equation? You have ‘Bombshell.’
I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed every second of this book. C.D. Reiss is a beautiful writer. Her words are a joy to the ears. Couple Christian Fox (hot!) and Andi Arndt (relatable) and the words come to life.
Cara Dumont a nanny to the rich and famous is sent to take care of Brad Sinclair’s new acquired
daughter. He is a top movie star and has no idea how to take care of his daughter.
Cara is stunned by what she sees when she arrived the party the drinks the drugs. She tells
Brad Sinclair what he will have to do to take care of the little girl. The instant attraction when
they meet, the chemistry and the back and forth between them makes the book a great read.
Another winner by C D Reiss.
This one had me hooked from the beginning. What more could you want but a clueless single dad who hires the gorgeous nanny and they fall in love/lust/love. Yea, it was a slow burn but it was well worth the wait for it to get there and worth all the mishaps to get to that point. Definitely a good one. Great narration too!
This story had all the elements I want in a love story – heart, passion, emotion, and humor. Brad and Cara have sizzling chemistry and I loved their witty banter. In each other they find a deep connection that no matter how hard they try to resist, they are drawn to one another. The storyline was well written and relatable. The twists and turns along the way kept things interesting; a rollercoaster ride of emotions. This is a beautifully written love story! I definitely recommend reading this book!
Actual Rating 3.80
Bombshell was a cute romance. It is about a high profile actor who finds out he has a daughter and ends up falling for his nanny. I really liked Cara. She cared about her job and really had the child’s best interest at heart. She was wonderful to Nicole and she had no problem letting Brad know where it his priorities should lie. Not to mention she told him when his behavior was not fitting of a man who has a little daughter to think about and his actions affected her. Brad a bit of a hot mess. He was too busy trying to keep up his playboy ways and needed to learn that being a father meant his daughter came first and everything else came second. It took a long time for him to adjust to that, much to the coaching of Cara. I did like their relationship. I give Cara props for not wanting to be that nanny, the one who sleeps with the father she works for. But I have to say I liked their relationship and when Brad realized he how much he wanted to have something serious with Cara, he started to get his act together.
Bombshell was very enjoyable. The thing I love about C.D. Reiss’ books is that they are so easy to read and that you can easily get lost in her stories.
Loved this nanny/single parent romance. Both characters were flawed, and they worked so well together.
Omg I love this book so much. I couldn’t put it down. Kept me up all night. Love the story and little miss. Bombshell.
Audio via KU. DNF at 60%. Probably the only reason I hung on as long as I did was because of the narrators. Andi Arndt is one of my absolute fav female narrators and Christian Fox was great.
Brad Sinclair and Cara DuMont were perfect for each other. They were facing few obstacles because life sometimes threw curve ball at them. As any typical Hollywood star Brad is showed as a playboy but life circumstances and with the help of Cara, he eventually realizes that life is too short to risk it and loose everything.
At the same time Cara is sorted and very focused in life, so Brad was a bit of a task for her. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. C.D. Reiss hit another home run.
I really enjoyed this book! Famous playboy movie star turns into a single dad that falls for his daughter’s nanny…. typical story right? Not so much! There were some curve balls thrown along the way… some I kind of saw coming and some I did not! It was completely amerced in this story. There were some times that brought a tear to my eye…. the killer part was something that happened in the epilogue…. GAVE ME CHILLS!!! (in a good way) Most definitely a story I would recommend to all my friends! There were so many different kinds of love portrayed in this book, and also gave a showing of how evil the press can be toward famous people and the ones that are in their lives.
Absolutely loved this story, but every CD Reiss story I’ve read so far is the Bomb-shell. Brad Sinclair the playboy actor, full of himself and on his career high is thrown into a storm with a new daughter and a new nanny. His navigation skills are put to the test when the lies he’s told starts to surface making it hard to hold on to the things he’s just learned are worth more in his life than just acting.
The deep, dirty, southern voice he uses on Cara. OMG swoon!
The narration was absolutely on point and so very hot, hot, hot. The story was hot, the narration brought it to life and it was a great listen.
Please can Cara have her own tv programme? Sod Super Nanny. Sod Mary Poppins. Cara DuMont is the oracle. She understands kids from poop to pigtails. Total genius at how to calm a five year old who is confused and super sad.
This book isn’t about the romance between Cara and Brad. Nope! It is the romance between Brad and his unplanned, unknown daughter Nicole; his perfect little Bombshell. And between Cara and Nicole. And this perfect little cherub of a girl loving, without question her daddy and Miss Cara.
Nicole stole every scene – apart from the sexy ones. You know female elephants in a herd will look after and protect the baby elephants even the ones that are not their own children? That is exactly how I felt with Nicole. I felt the need to cuddle her, to soothe her fears, to take the sadness away, to shield her from badness. I was so glad that Cara was there to do that.
Nicole made my heart melt.
This book seemed very different from previous CD Reiss books. Yes it has Shuttergirl connections and there is mention of the mighty Drazen family, but no darkness. Some plot bunnies to make you ooooh and aaaaah. A baddy in plain sight.
“Zip it. Lock it. Put it in your pocket.”
Today I will mostly make my husband call me Teacup!
Bombshell is the kind of book that will put a smile on your face. It doesn’t have an over-complicated plot, however its development—along with the character development—were on point. The background of each character was unique, with honest heartache in their past (and current) experiences. Brad and Cara have incredible chemistry and their banter is feisty and sexy! Nicole is a sweetheart. Yep, just a well-written and enjoyable contemporary romance! 5 stars for Bombshell!
It was my first read from this author. I definitely thought it was an enjoyable read and I always enjoy a good single dad book. Loved the author’s writing style and how the story progressed throughout. Definitely one to recommend!
Cara is one of the most sought out nanny’s and has a new job lined up. Throughout the years she’s become very picky for which family she works for as she got burned before, especially since she saw how friend got dragged down the mud because how the media was portraying things. But things don’t go the way as planned and when heartthrob Brad has his eyes set on her, she’ll find it hard to say no.
Brad has been a single father for only a week since he found out that he has to take care of his daughter after her mother has passed away, and is having a hard time to find a suitable nanny to take care of her. When he crosses paths with Cara, he is determined to have her as his nanny. Even though he has a tough time convincing her, she takes the job with some conditions. The more time they are spending together, the more the lines seem to blur and Cara is having a harder time to keep her distance. Even though Brad is portrayed as a party animal and womanizer, he has a heart of gold. But will it be enough for them to have a chance together when there is so much at stake?…
When nanny Cara DuMont takes on the temporary position of taking care of Hollywood bad-boy Trent Sinclair’s newly discovered five year old daughter Nicole she is determined not to get involved and be the cliche “Nanny falls for big movie star” kind. But something happens between these two characters
that is so special that even they don’t know how to handle it. I absolutely loved this book, the characters were so intense and emotional you could feel them struggle with their feelings radiate from the pages, the story line was captivating and very addictive and I just loved the way each character learned how to grow from each others emotions, fantastic narration by Andi Arndt and Christian Fox.
I downloaded the audible version…It’s sometimes difficult to get into the stories with the audibles because the voices don’t match the characters, but in this case, they were great – really brought the store to life. Whoever they are, they should be used more and often 🙂
