From New York Times bestselling author CD Reiss, a standalone romance about a nanny, a Hollywood star, and a love they never expected.Hollywood bad boy Brad Sinclair always gets his way, whether it’s the role he wants or the bikini-clad model he has to have. But when a bombshell gets dropped in his lap in the form of a dimpled five-year-old from a forgotten relationship, he knows his life is … he knows his life is about to change forever.
Cara DuMont isn’t exactly thrilled when she gets assigned to be the nanny for the latest box-office king. She has one rule: no celebrity fathers, especially single ones with devilish good looks and rock-hard abs.
But as soon as Cara meets Brad and his adorable little girl, she knows she’s in for a world of trouble. Because there’s something about the way Brad looks at her that makes her believe that some rules are meant to be broken…

Brad Sinclair is as hot an actor as it gets. Cara Dumont, nanny, has been there, done that with celebrity parents and wants no part of it. Brad just fell into fatherhood by having his five year old daughter, Nicole, thrust into his life after her mother dies. It’s a plot for disaster and every epic Hollywood drama you’ve ever seen. Nicole wants Cara as her nanny, Brad wants Cara in his bed and Cara wants distance from it all. Brad, turned dad, doesn’t change his party animal ways all at once and Cara’s distance gets closer. It takes an almost tragedy for things to get real but in the end it’s a true Hollywood happily ever after.
Brad Sinclair is a rising star in the movie scene in Hollywood, and he is a notorious bad boy in the Hollywood social scene. This strikingly handsome young man seems to have it easy, but his life has been riddled by a few “bombshells”.
In ShutterGirl, Brad is introduced as the cavalier friend of Michael Greyson. He is easy on eyes in person and on the big screen. He is party central—embodying the “work hard, play harder” philosophy—and when he’s not on set, he can usually be found with a babe on one side and a drink on the other. I have to say that it was rather hard to like Brad through much of Bombshell, but you know what they say about walking in someone else’s shoes. Once you get to see the whole picture, it is hard not to fall for the guy. This southern boy’s mama raised him right. Speaking of his mama, she is a breath of fresh air. I loved every mama-ism that Brad repeated; each one reminded me of some of my favorite friends from the south.
Nicole, the latest bombshell in Brad’s life, is his surprise love child. You know how actors say you shouldn’t work with children or animals? It must be true because the precocious five year old stole every scene she was in. Whether she was dancing, drawing, or covered in excrement, she was an adorable girl suffering through a tragic loss and a major life change. I fell in love with this sweet little thing, and I fell in love with Brad falling for his daughter. It truly is the point where he becomes a handsome, desirable man instead of just famous eye-candy.
Unlike most bad-boy turned good guy stories, Ms. Reiss doesn’t rely on an insta-love situation. Yes, the professional nanny, Cara Dumont, and Brad both find one another attractive, but Cara keeps it professional. She is all about the kids. She has no interest in becoming embroiled in a dysfunctional Hollywood family, and she didn’t need her friend Blakey’s train-wreck of a situation to teach her that lesson. Cara is defined by her social and professional rules as well as by her expectations of good parenting. She keeps her heart and her reputation safe by choosing to push Brad to parent Nicole instead of succumbing to his sexy flirtations.
Bombshell by C.D. Reiss is a sweet, sexy read. It has just the right balance of scandal and humor. The leisurely slow-to-spark love is perfect for developing characters whom readers care about. Brad’s entourage provides just enough discord and angst to give readers something to worry about. I loved how professionally Cara and Blakely, handled those mind fields! Ms. Reiss writes with panache. Her characters are layered. Her plots are interesting. Her heroines always have the most enviable pet names (laughably, I’m a bit jealous that I’ve never been a Teacup, a Goddess or a Sweet Apple). Whether erotica, mystery or a sweet romance, her writing is evocative and intelligent.
4.5-5 stars
There was nothing I didn’t like about this story. Brad was a typical Hollywood guy. He was arrogant and a jerk but when he was sweet and sexy….that’s when i liked him best. Cara was in quite the position as a nanny. She has strong values and tried to keep them. Brad made that a bit difficult at times. Fantasies were approved.i enjoyed learning her thoughts on being a nanny. Brads daughter….she completely stole the book. I loved her!
I enjoyed the joking, camaraderie and serious issues in this story. It kept me captivated and as I was listening to it. I hated getting out of the car at the end of the day….or a weekend…arrrg! Don’t get me started!
This is my second book by this author. I listened to book 2 first and enjoyed it so I figured I would get book 1. I was not disappointed. The story drew me in and the characters ( especially Brad) had some amazing growth to them. Not counting letting me enter a world I would never enter otherwise.
Told from alternating perspectives, Bombshell follows Cara DuMont as she bravely takes on a new client, Brad Sinclair. He’s new to the role of being a father, having just discovered he has a daughter and that he is to take her with full custody. He doesn’t grasp the changes he must make and that’s where Cara comes in, the nanny that makes little Nicole’s world normal. Only, Cara promised herself she’d never work for a famous person again, especially for a handsome single dad she can’t stop fantasizing about. The nanny role comes with a timeline, with Cara and her best friend stepping in only short term while a new nanny is found, but she grows attached to Nicole and ultimately to her father, who finds himself wanting a life that he had never imagined before.
“I was young and cute, and you don’t bring a time bomb into your home”
I have had Bodyguard by C.D. Reiss on my Kindle for ages and when I started reading it I realized it was number two in a standalone series, HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED THAT? So, off I went to Amazon where I proceeded to buy Bombshell and dive right in. Seriously, by dive I mean I started immediately and read non-stop until I finished it. I loved Cara DuMont and Brad Sinclair and I especially loved little miss “bombshell” herself, Nicole. C.D. Reiss takes a cliche connection, that of a nanny and a daddy, and turns it into a brilliant, smart story.
“This job was the worst I ever had. I really should quit. But I couldn’t”.
Cara is a sassy, educated woman with a really great head on her shoulders. Being a nanny is not all rainbows and butterflies, you’re a stand-in for a parent and have to be able to do it all, which C.D. Reiss really shows in this novel. Cara doesn’t do drama, at least she doesn’t gravitate towards the spotlight, she’s relatable, and despite knowing what’s to come with her and Brad we don’t predict the type of chemistry they would share. Brad is a Southern boy, though his manners seem to be buried under money, women, and booze. He’s the lead in several huge movies, booked through the year, and not equipped to be a father at all. Of course, he somehow manages to still win us all over, whether it is with sharing his secrets or discovering that he is natural at being a father. The two have a push and pull type of relationship, but continue to be drawn together due to Brad’s sweet little girl. Nicole really is the best secondary character I’ve ever read, even for being a child. The interactions they all have are so excellent and C.D. Reiss shows off her dialogue writing skills, for sure.
“This guy could ruin me. He had all the tools to do it. He was gorgeous and laid-back. He listened when I spoke and had a daughter who was just about perfect.”
Unlike other nanny/daddy type novels, the drama is fairly low. There is a consistent issue throughout the entire novel that is worked through slowly rather than issue after issue popping up. We learn a lot about the characters individually and as they come together it is the perfect amount of sweet and scandalous. Bombshell had so many unique moments, some really great character growth, and I think shines as a contemporary romance, highlighting a lot of the strides we’ve made in how we treat children and women today. The focus on Hollywood A-listers and the difference between many of them as parents was also really great to read, because we all know the gossip rags want to sell you a different story than reality.
“You protect your heart as if your life depended on it. And you fail, but you try.”
Bombshell was a fantastic read for me and I absolutely recommend it. I think it’s a unique release from C.D. Riess and a great addition to the genre. When placed among novels with similar storylines, this one will absolutely shine the brightest.
I could not put this book down
I’m going to start this off by saying that I know I’m in the minority and while I’m writing this, I think there might be something wrong with me. With that being said, I didn’t really connect to Bombshell as much as I was hoping to. I’ve always like watching the playboys fall hard and I like the single father figuring it out stories. So I should have been over the moon.
I did adore Nicole. That little girl just sneaks up on you and steals your heart, just like she did to Cara. She has such a great personality and is so full of life. I honestly felt like I connected to her more than Cara and Brad. I would say that she stole the show but CD wrote her to be part of the main so there isn’t really any way she could have stole it. She was it.
Here’s where I think it fell short for me. I just couldn’t connect to Cara or Brad. Sure, I was pulling for the Nanny who has a heart of gold and professionalism to boot but at the end of the day, I still just felt kind of meh towards here. I also didn’t feel the chemistry between her and Brad. Sexy times were honest skippy times for me. Ok, that was bad. I admit. I just said skippy. I’ll own up to it.
While I didn’t full connect to the book, I did enjoy the storyline and the writing and I know that many people are going to fall head over heels for this book. So I recommend you give it a whirl. It might be exactly what you are looking for.
Hello Brad, you hot DILF! I’m a sucker for single father books. There’s not a ton out there so when one comes out, I like to snatch them up.
This was pretty good, I really enjoyed it. Brad’s character kinda rubbed me wrong in the beginning, but he totally grew on my as the story went on. Your whole world kind of gets turned upside down when a child you didn’t know about gets dumped into your lap. Hello instant father! Nicole, that precious little love angle, was so damn cute. Her parts were great! It was entertaining seeing both of them interact together.
Even though I thought there was a part or two that dragged on a wee bit, it’s still a great story!
I love single parent romances, however the whole celebrity romance subgenre isn’t one I read a lot of, but I wanted to give this one a try anyways. I am so glad I did because I loved it! For me Nicole stole the show, she was just the cutest and smartest little girl, and she made me smile a lot. I loved that the author didn’t automatically change Brad into the father of the year. He had a lot of issues he had to handle, and that made him human. In the society now, we put celebrities on a pedestal and see them as people who can’t do wrong.
I enjoyed seeing the different sides to Brad. As for Cara, she had her principles and tried to stick to them. The author really took her time to tell the story, there was no rushing through anything. This made it very easy for me to connect to all the characters and understand where they were coming from. I especially loved Nicole interacting with her dad, and seeing their relationship progress throughout the book. The same goes for Brad and Cara, there was a mutual respect for each other. And I enjoyed seeing them grow closer together, until they couldn’t resist the other. The sex scenes were HOT (I wanted more!). CD Reiss did an incredible job with this book, I am definitely looking forward to the next books in this series.
liked the 2nd book of this series better
I was so excited when Bombshell popped up on my Kindle yesterday I just dove right in. Yes yesterday, and I’m already able to write this review on it! I was hooked from the first of Bombshell’s 72 chapters! Christine’s writing always enthralls me and won’t let me just walk away unfinished. Each book she writes is more and more addicting than the last and in Bombshell, add an adorable 5 year old into the mix, and what are normally amazing stories anyway, becomes something else entirely. This story has so much heart to it, but also keeps to CD Reiss’ genre with all the sexy and romantic moments we come to expect from her tales.
In Bombshell we meet a nanny to the rich and famous, although she isn’t’ fond of helping the famous for reasons you will find out in the book, Cara. She is between families at the time and has sworn off all Hollywood celebrities. She will help the rich non-famous out with their children and households, but she draws the line at fame. Brad is everything you imagine when you hear about big time Hollywood heart throb. He’s a playboy and has no desire to settle down to just one woman. He actually prefers to enjoy his time with the company of more than one woman. That is until Cara comes into his life in a most unexpected way. Brad has just found out about a daughter he has, Nicole, just a week prior to meeting Cara. When their encounter in a bathroom leaves the little daughter wanting her as a nanny, Brad will stop at nothing to hire the most attractive and best with his daughter, Hollywood has to offer.
Their attraction to each other is instant. She is immediately drawn to him, but knows she has to keep her distance from him. He is so thankful to have someone help his daughter who he has known for just a week, that he thinks about crossing lines with the help shortly into their arrangement. The chemistry and connection between them is just unbelievable and having Nicole in the picture too adds an element I can relate to even more with having a child my own. I love a good romance, but throw in a toddler/young child and I’m a goner! He is great with her the more he gets to know her, Nicole I mean. He falls into the roll of a father, but still holds back and keeps his lifestyle up for a while into the story. Once an event or two happen between him and Cara, he begins to realize his priorities are out of line and need to be adjusted with his new daughter in mind. Cara has a great affect on him and her being around as the Nanny soon feels like more to them all. There are cute and adorable scenes that you just want to cry at, and there are just the right amount of fun scenes also to make this a true CD Reiss book. Her writing is flawless as usual and she has just hit this one out of the park!
#FamilyFirst all the way! If I had my choice I would love to by Nicole’s nanny. Cara has a heart of gold and the patience of a saint. Brad had me on the fence for a few moments but it didn’t take long to win me over. This is a wonderful story that at times I wasn’t sure which way we were heading and that’s great because you want a book that will keep you on your toes. Cara’s past broke my heart and I can’t even begin to imagine going through that the way she had. Brad had so many more sides to him that aren’t always revealed but when he shines it’s absolutely beautiful. I think that even though Nicole is still young she’s a smart cookie and knows what she’s doing. I enjoyed this story from the beginning until the very end.
Funny, sweet, and sexy story about heart throb Hollywood IT BOY Bradley Sinclair. Thrown into a role he never expected, he got more than he ever imagined when he meets consultant and nanny Cara.
That’s about all I will say about this riveting and charming story of love, romance and second chances.
What those second chances are, you’ll have to find out!
The writing was impeccably sharp and witty. The characters were so real and likable. The banter between them was realistic, and at times touching. There were many poignant moments in this story that made you question what people are willing to to for fame and fortune.
The results had me totally absorbed finding out what Bradley was willing to do.
4.5 stars!
Wow. Simply wow.
I read Shuttergirl and had this obsession with Brad Sinclair. I really wanted to know who he was. He seemed like a good friend to Michael, yet, he seemed like he would be one of those guys who is a total dick. A playboy. A guy who got whatever he wanted and didn’t give a shit about anything.
Well, I finally got my story and damn it, if I didn’t fall in love with Brad Sinclair.
Brad Sinclair, Oscar nominated movie star was just enjoying life. Gorgeous, fun loving and now a single dad who is learning to deal with a daughter he knew nothing about. Nicole was thrust in his lap after the death of her mother. It was refreshing to hear Brad admit he had no idea what to do with her. He desperately thought both his old lifestyle and this new one, which included a five-year-old girl, could coincide.
“I was going to have to fake it until I made it. Act like I thought dads should act.”
Cara DuMont has worked as a nanny for years. She is down to earth and has no qualms about telling it like it is and plans to help with the transition Brad and Nicole will have to face. However, Cara’s desire for Brad was something unexpected. However bad she wanted him, she also didn’t want to destroy her reputation as she watched her friend, Blakely, do with one of her former employers. She took her job VERY seriously and would walk away if needed. But she couldn’t.
Something about Brad, and his daughter Nicole, just drew Cara in from the start and she was absolutely fooling herself if she thought that she could not be affected by the both of them.
The sexual frustration and attraction was almost instantaneous. Neither Cara nor Brad had any intention of letting it become anything more than a professional employer/employee relationship. But I’m so glad it did.
I love the fact that I got just about half way through the book before anything happened. It was a slow build up from the first-time Cara and Brad looked at each other just coming out of that bathroom with his daughter until when they finally succumb to their desire for each other.
There were so many unexpected moments, so many things I never thought were even possible in this book. At times, I was laughing at the banter between the two and the theatrics of a five-year-old little girl. The next moment, I was enjoying the dirty sex and then the world completely turned on its axis and the drama began. And by god, I never expected what I read. Not in a million years.
“There’s no one else I want to be better for. It’s you. I’m going to be better for you, and if you leave I’m afraid I’ll never have a reason to stop being a fuckup.”
The connection between Brad and Cara was so much more than a physical one, it became emotional as they connected over the love for a little girl. Absolutely brilliant.
All in all, to me this story is about growing up. Coming to terms with life and not running away but dealing with what is thrown your way head on. Making mistakes is part of life but you have to learn from them too.
Putting your #familyfirst
Making your priorities something that you never thought possible #Bradvsmydad
Becoming the best version of yourself that you can be #ImWithSinclair
I 100% loved this book. It is something that will stick with me for a long time to come. I look forward to more in the Hollywood A-List series.
Pie, yes Pie, as in How much Southern Boys Love Pie, Centrifugal Force Pie and California Pie.
Recently, I have discovered myself to be a major fangirl of C.D. Reiss. From all I have read, this offering is decidedly different from most of her other writings. At its core it is a lovely and lighthearted romance with enough heat to singe the eyebrows off a Southern Boy eating…pie, yes that’s it, pie.
However, there is a certain someone that just steals the show and your heart. That someone, little Nicole, was the “Bombshell” that changed everything for the famous actor, indiscriminately partying playboy Brad Sinclair. Of course when Cara DuMont, professional nanny extraordinaire gets one glimpse of the “star” quality and arresting beauty of Brad as she is called to assist little Nicole in a predicament, she falls for both Daddy and daughter before she has time to register her objection to being a nanny in the strange world of Hollywood celebrity.
Cara is written as an emotionally intelligent, nurturing and loving nanny to whom Nicole gravitates. Nicole tries with her innocent little girl wiles to bring Miss Cara and her newly found Daddy together.
The story has some interesting plot turns and twists, also, some lovely surprises. Even in this light hearted fare, Ms. Reiss exhibits beautiful artistry in her composition. If you look a little bit into the word choice, some wisps of themes can be caught. One example is even our beautiful Brad had to put in some extraordinary work to grab his “slice of the pie.”
You see reading a work by C.D. Reiss is a special experience because of the depth of the well of her knowledge and creativity and her deft hand with language. This story delights and satisfies the romance addicted. You are one click away to feeding your addiction with quality, nourishing and good for you, oooooouuu dare I say it, romantic “pie”.
