I went into this book blind and wasn’t sure what to expect from it. I just knew that I loved the cover for this book and had to read it. I loved that my impulse buy was a hidden gem. This book is PHENOMENAL! Lucas and Lawrence are spectacular together. Both of them are complete opposites but from the moment they met at the wine festival you could almost feel the sparks flying off the pages. They have such a natural chemistry and I loved watching their relationship develop. I also loved the forbidden aspect of their relationship (Lawrence is Lucas’s business partner/best friend’s sister) and how they navigated their relationship based on that. Both Lawrence and Lucas had a lot of growth throughout the novel and I loved how Lawrence brought out a side in Lucas that he thought he would never see again and how his dreams for the future changed. This book is so well-written and the secondary characters are just as amazing as the main characters. I cannot wait to continue on in this series and see the secondary characters from this book get their own HEA’s.
The means to an end, sows the seeds to two hearts undoing. Bohemian Girl was a wonderful introduction to a new author for me. Cates tears up the emotional canvas with characters that at times prove hard to love, but never easy to forget. Lucas and Lawrence are like fire and ice. The heat is there, but so is the need to be wary. Although not always beautiful, Bohemian Girl is a captivating look into the heart at it’s most vulnerable and volatile moments.
3.75 stars–BOHEMIAN GIRL is the first installment in Georgia Cates contemporary, adult SOUTHERN GIRL erotic romance series focusing on three friends-Tap, Stout (Ollie), and Porter of Lovibond Brewery. This is Lovibond co-owner Lucas ‘Tap’ Broussard, and hippie boutique owner Lawrence ‘Wren’ Thorn’s story line.
NOTE: BOHEMIAN GIRL is the re-release of the author’s originally titled novel TAP (Lovibond #1)
Told from alternating first person points of view (Tap and Wren) TAP follows the building, forbidden relationship between Tap and Wren. Tap is partnered with Ollie and Porter in the Lovibond brewery but when Ollie (aka Stout) must enter rehab as a result of a DUI and weeks of binge drinking following the break up with his latest girlfriend, he makes Tap promise not to reveal the truth to Ollie’s sister. What ensues is a building relationship between Tap and Wren, based upon fake text messages and lies believed to be from Ollie to Wren.
TAP is a story line that also focuses on the craft beer fad; behind the scenes of a successful business; and the reality of falling in love against the odds. Wren and Ollie’s past is darkened by a history of drug abuse and neglect; Tap’s recent past finds our hero making no promises for the future when he can’t let go of the heartbreak and pain.
The relationship between Tap and Wren begins as a series of lies and deceit that will blossom into a sexual affair they continue to keep secret from family, friends and especially Ollie Thorn. Ollie (Stout) warns Tap to keep away from his older sister but the heart is willing to risk everything for love-a love that will falter with the sins from the past. Tap’s backstory is heartbreaking and defines a good portion of his emotional and mental health. He is a man who will not promise the future because he refuses to believe in marriage or love.
BOHEMIAN GIRL has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Tap’s partners in the Lovibond Brewery-Ollie and Porter- as well as Wren’s friend and boutique co-owner Kelsey, and their best friend Ivy. We are also introduced to Tap and Wren’s parents, and Tap’s ex Bridgette and her new husband Warren. Tap’s past and current relationship with his ex plays a large role throughout the story.
BOHEMIAN GIRL is a tale about love and loss; heartbreak and grief; secrets and lies. The premise is heart-warming in the face of so many obstacles; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is a slow build to a happily ever after. The epilogue fast forwards the story line several years-which makes me wonder where STOUT’S story will begin.
I have read a few Georgia Cates books, but it is usually her darker side. Bohemian Girl is a retailing of a past book ‘Tap from Men’ of Lovibond Series. Although I had never read the first book, I was happy to have the chance to read this one.
I have to say that I did not enjoy this story as much as I do her darker stuff. Notwithstanding the story, I found I could not connect to the characters to this story.
Bohemian Girl was a sweet, passionate and heartfelt romance that made for an awesome start to the Southern Girl series. With just the right mix of feels, secrets, angst, humor, and fiery passion Lucas and Lawry kept me glued to my Kindle eagerly hanging onto every word.
I loved both of these amazing characters both together and separately. Their broken pasts that each steuggled to overcome pulled at my heartstrings. I adored how quirky and open-minded Lawry was and how she captivated the somewhat frustrating and guarded Lucas. The sparks and angst these two generated kept me riveted until the end as I rooted for them to each find what they were looking for.
Bohemian Girl was a sweet and entertaining read full of fantastic characters I loved and am curious to know more about. After this engaging start to this promising series I’m eagerly looking forward to both Porter and Oliver’s books next.
An enjoyable read, I’m now excited for a new series from Georgia Cates. This book was a sweet romance with a happy ever after. Who knows where you will meet the one, even at a beer festival while covering for her brother. A hook-up that never really goes anywhere gets a second Chance 4 weeks on.
I love a strong female main character and I loved Lawrence ‘Law’, she was perfect. When the love of her life wasn’t prepared to make a compromise for her, Law breaks both their hearts and walks away.
I can’t wait for the next book.
Bohemian Girl is the first book by Georgia Cates that I have had the opportunity to read and I really enjoyed her writing style, her character development and the sweet storyline. This book is a sweet, steamy read that holds a few secrets and a bit of angst thrown in to keep Lucas and Lawrence’s new budding relationship intense and challenging all at the same time.
Lawrence’s brother Ollie is Lucas’ business partner and he knows that she is off limits but since he met her he can’t get her out of his head. Lawrence is a big girl and doesn’t have to listen to Ollies warnings about dating Lucas because she feels the same pull that Lucas does.
A long distance relationship is only one of the challenges Lucas and Lawrence face as they try to make this relationship work. They also have to consider the distance between them both because of geography but also and more importantly, their thoughts about what a future together would look like.
Bohemian Girl is the first book by Georgia Cates that I have read. I loved reading this first in the series story of Lawrence and Lucas. I look forward to reading the next book in the seres.
Lawrence Thorn is Lucas’s business partner’s sister, but they’ve never met until she makes a surprise visit to town. It was unexpected and Lucas was in charged with keeping her brother’s secret. But Lucas was immediately enthralled by her and he did so much more. He wanted her.
A month had passed ever since they met, Lucas wanted to see how good they were together. So they pursued each other even when there’s distance between them. Their chemistry was undeniable. When it got too serious between them, there’s some things that they’re not willing to do or change. Decisions needed to be made and it breaks their hearts.
You can’t help but fall in love with the characters. You would wish for them to be together and have their happy ending.
Bohemian Girl is book one in a re branded series and it’s new to me but I have to say what a great start this book is and I’m sure this is going to be a hit series.
I loved the characters in this book I fell big time for Lucas Broussard and Lawrence (Lawry) Thorn, they are great as individuals but together they are so much more. A secret romance doesn’t always end well especially when you are hiding your love from your brother who happens to be your lovers best friend and this pair struggled as they do their best to hide the love they were feeling from Oliver.
A couple who both have issues from their pasts, both are just a bit broken so will they ever be able to trust and love again ……..
A perfect mix of passion, love, secrets, angst and humour will keep you on the edge of your seat and let’s not forget we need to wait for book 2 to see what happens when the truth comes out ……
A well written book that certainly had me holding my breath at times and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Incredible! Another successful book by Georgia Cates! This book is not only intriguing but entertaining in several ways. The dialogue between brother and sister, and friends is great. Georgia did an amazing job setting up the story, and letting us fall in love with the characters. You fight for them, cheer them on and rejoice with them.
Sexy as heck! Can’t wait for the next two books!!!
If anyone knows how to write a hot guy, it’s Georgia. She never disappoints in that department. And is it possible that Sin has been replaced by Tap for my favorite GC guy? I think she did what I thought was impossible.
The story flows steadily and the alternating points of views are something I enjoy from this author. I like getting into the heads of both characters in these kinds of books. The attraction between Tap and Wren was explosive from the start but still believable. Their relationship unravels slower than what most books have these days which makes these two one of my favorite couples ever. The relationship doesn’t come without some hiccups. Some small, some big. But in true Georgia fashion she finds a way for things to work themselves out.
I can’t wait to read about Porter and Stout in the next installments of this series
Love the start to this series! Lucas is business partners with Oliver and Porter, and when Oliver has a personal issue that requires him to go away for a month, he enlists Lucas to pretend to be him when his sister contacts him in order to keep it from her, especially since Lucas has never met her. When Lawrence texts her brother and something seems off, she decides it’s the perfect time for a visit, and when she meets Lucas, her brother’s business partner, they start developing chemistry and feelings. But once Oliver returns and realizes Lucas and Lawrence have developed a relationship, he is against it and unsupportive, and once he spills the beans about Lucas pretending to be him, will their relationship be able to withstand the lie? I am a huge Georgia Cates fan and loved the beginning of this series! These are great characters and I can’t wait to see where Oliver and Porter land in the next books!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Passionate, heartfelt romance story!
Well paced story of second chances in life and love.
A little predictable but still an enjoyable read!
Formerly titled, Tap, Lovibond book 1.
Love can sneak up on you when you least expect it. It surprises you, envelops you, and you finally realize you cannot continue living without it. This book is not to be missed!
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Thanks to the author for sharing a copy with me.
Holy hot biscuits and gravy!! There ain’t nothing better than a dirty talking Cajun and the Bohemian beauty that brings this playboy businessman to his knees. Author Georgia Cates had me hooked from the blurb alone.
I just knew I was in for a naughty little piece of forbidden goodness. It has so many things going for it.
Friends with Benefits to Lovers
Brothers Best Friends
Anti Marriage and Kids Hero
Heroine who eventually wants marriage and kids
This has the recipe for disaster in the making for Lucas and Lawry in so many ways. The settings, the secondary characters. Everything adds up to the just the perfect amount of sweet smokin’ hot banter, super sexy scenes. Drama and conflict, wondering will they be able to get it together. What’s going to happen when sneaking around comes out?
I love Lawrence “Lawry’s” character. She’s chill and eccentric and a little out there but in a cool way. She’s super gorgeous and hot and has a body made for sin. She has always been a caregiver to her younger brother Oliver, they had a horrible upbringing until they were adopted and that has made her always be super protective of him. When she doesn’t hear from him she shows up to Birmingham, Alabama to surprise him at the beer festival his company is hosting. She is the one who is surprised , however when she ends up hanging out with the captivating Cajun Lucas Broussard, her brother’s business partner. Will Lawry risk upsetting her brother by ignoring his orders and give into her desire to start a physical relationship with Lucas while she’s in town? What will happen when Lawry realizes that Lucas can’t or won’t give her all of the things she wants so badly in her future?
Oh Lucas! Man, his character was hot and frustrating at the same time. I like home so much, then I wanted to throttle him. I could see the perfect future… it was so close, within reach, but he was so stubborn. I was really afraid that I might not get the outcome I was hoping for. I was sooo glad we got just the perfect amount of frustration and drama. My kindle survived. Just barely. Lol He totally could redeem himself anytime in any scene he was in with Aubrey. #UncleBou for the Win!! Absolutely Presh!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book!
My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
-This is a previously released book. It’s had some updates done to I think, but I didn’t read it before. So it’s a first for me. I loved it. I really loved all the characters. Definitely recommend. I’m a huge Georgia Cates fan!!
-OMG!!Lucas and Lawry are smokin in the sack y’all! HOLY HOTNESS! GIMMEONE OF THEM OLD TIMEY FUNERAL FANS CAUSE IMMA SWEATIN’ lol
Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! HEA! I can’t wait for the other two books in the series.
Love this cover!! I fell in love with Lucas and Lawrence when I read Tap (original tittle), and it was so much fun rereading their story! Best friend’s little sister is one of my favorite troupes and Georgia Cates did an amazing job with this one! Full of steam and a little angst Bohemian Girl is a huge five stars!
5 Star review of Bohemian Girl (A Southern Girl #1) by Georgia Cates
Georgia Cates is a relatively new author to me. I was intrigued when I read the blurb for this book and since it was book one in a re branded series and new to me, I dove straight in. Ms.Cates is off to a flying start with this series if Bohemian Girl is anything to go by.
I loved Lucas Broussard and Lawrence (Lawry) Thorn, both separately and even more as a couple. However, there is drama and angst as they struggle to keep their relationship hidden from Lawry’s brother, Oliver. I must admit I struggled a little as I saw this a betrayal of Oliver’s trust by both his sister and best friend.
There was heat, spice, angst, drama and some humour and was at times emotional. Both Lawry and Lucas have pasts that have left them a little broken and at times struggling to see the truth around them. The chemistry between them is off the charts and yet it is obvious that there is more than just passion to their relationship.
What will happen when the truth comes out? I am excited and cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
Lucas Broussard is a business partner in a profitable brewery. He’s also had an interesting past, to say the least. He’s a bit of a tomcat and upfront on where he stands on relationships.
So when free spirited Lawrence shows up (his business partner Oliver’s sister), he starts let his guards down a little. The heat and chemistry is palpable but there are many obstacles standing in their way, not to mention Lucas’ stubbornness.
So can love conquer all? Definitely one-click this cute read to find out.
BOHEMIAN GIRL by Georgia Cates is the First book in A Southern Girl Series. This is the story of Lawrence ‘Law’ Thorn and Lucas Broussard. This book was previous named ‘Tap’ and the first book in the ‘Men of Lovibond Series’. But the author has taken this book and the series back under wing to revamp the cover along with a rename. I was happy that this was done because I had missed the previous series so this is my chance to now enjoy this series. Lawrence is the sister of Oliver who is a partner with Lucas and Porter in the Iron City Brewery. When Oliver has a issue to come up that will take him away he asked that Lucas keep track of his sister. When Lawerence starts to think something is going on with her brother she ends up meeting Lucas. Of course they spark and cannot walk away from their attractions. Then Oliver returns to learn of what has been going on with his sister, which he isn’t happy with.
Enjoyed!
