Never trust a demon.Never trust your heart. And never trust the woman who holds it.In Body of the Crime, a beast craved a beauty and oh, how she ravaged him.
So I enjoyed this one much more than the first and it definitely kept my attention. I still have some little niggles though one being Molly’s evolution from breakable human to something else it now seems she has no sense of self-preservation and I am sceptical of her new survival skills especially considering she’s up against experienced opponents. A few weeks of training even with her superior strength doesn’t seem likely to have caused such an extreme metamorphosis. But despite that, I did like her much more in this second book she definitely has become much more interesting that’s for sure.
Tensley is still annoying me with his Jekyll and Hyde personality when it comes to Molly. He projects his worst to shut away his own heart and he is very easily manipulated by his own weaknesses namely that of sharing his brother’s fate. I also didn’t like how he allows Evelyn to manipulate him and that he also couldn’t reason out the whys of Mollys earlier behaviour and give her a break especially considering the circumstances and it not being intentional. It wasn’t about betrayal just survival I thought it was a bit of a cop-out to mostly protect himself and when they hit any road bump he always reverts back to form, man he gives me whiplash with his ever-changing moods. Though he has definitely grown some and I love it when he whispers Italian to Molly but he still has a way to go yet.
This had push and pull and plenty of danger Molly is firmly knees deep in this dangerous new world of demons now and I’m interested in seeing where this will go next especially considering that finale.
I’m getting drawn into this world more with each book and I love it.
Tensley and Molly have completely gotten under my skin, I absolutely love them. Tensley is Dark and Delicious and Molly is strong and caring, she brings out the better part of his Demon side, the side he tries to keep buried….Gahhh, I love their chemistry, it’s scorching.
The whole Demon and Deamon dynamic between them is fascinating. Seeing Tensley try to hold back his feelings and his Demon side is exhilarating. I love it when he lets loose. Damn!!! He’s hottt as fuxk.
I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Review:
Sadly this book didn’t impress me much more. I hoped that it would get better, that the story would get better but it was more of the same.
More of the same back and forth between the characters, more of the same hot and cold behavior. It was very wishy washy.
I think the timeline was still a bit odd at times. The author made some jumps while that would have been better if she didn’t. Stuff that would have been better of being shown than being told.
Molly mentioned things that happened without really explaining properly what happened, and we didn’t get to see what happened either. So that left me a bit confused at times.
Like in the first book she could suddenly fight, but was also a force to be reckoned with. She seemed to have full control of her powers. Like how did that happen.
What happened between Molly and Tensley. Why aren’t they talking in the beginning of the book. I actually checked to make sure I was reading book 2 and not missed a book or something.
I’m glad that Molly wasn’t so naive any more. That she grew some lady balls. I just wish I was able to connect more with her.
The story has potential but it needs work.

This is the continuation of Molly and Tinsley’s story.
When betrayal is experienced and trust cracked, doubts arise in the most horrible of ways.
Molly’s action leads to unimaginable heartbreak for both her and Tinsely. Add to the fact that everyone around them cannot be trusted, Hunters are out for their blood, and houses fighting for power.
This book is even more convoluted than the first. The drama is off the rocks as our two main people strive to make the best of things.
What happens when a demon’s facade starts to crack? And someone else gets betrayed?
Everyone’s notices are questioned as the stakes rise.
The drama, the angst, the pain, the heat and everything in between was amazingly captured in this story. I could not put it down.
Molly grows immensely here, a fact that I love. Her backbone shines much brighter and she feels more confident in herself.
I loved loved loved this book.

“He wanted to taste her, consume her, possess her completely as his. Her sweetness, her softness cracked at his hard exterior.”
Almost like meeting Tensley for the first time, his deeper self shines through as they both flit around each other, unable to fully trust, but unable to fight the attraction. Cheering them on, while yelling at my kindle when they most times did the opposite, I was intoxicated by their tale. While betrothed, it seems like all is against them, enemies encroaching from all sides, bent on tearing them apart. The Author wrote so many enemies that filled you with fire and you wanted to reach in and throttle them yourself.
“As Molly glanced up at her reflection, at the droplets of watery red streaking down her cheeks, she froze. She was looking at the new Molly Darling-the true Molly Darling. And she was a monster.”
I was a little put off by Molly’s meekness in the first book, so it was completely refreshing for her to channel her inner fire and begin using it against her multiple enemies. I got lost unraveling the multiple threats and their bond strengthening as they were identified. Emotions all over the place as they navigated the newly accepted relationship that even they weren’t completely sure of…but by the end you feel the bond in your pores. Once again, once I finished, and how it ended made me want to continue right on and inhale the rest.

“Body of the Crime” is such a fantastic read!! R. Scarlett has written an AMAZING sequel. From beginning to end this book keeps you intrigued! Just when you think you have everything figured out R. Scarlet throws another curve ball in there!
I am so obsessed with Molly and Tensley!! They both grow in this one and they also grow together! Getting to see Tensley fall for Molly is EVERYTHING!! Seriously this man I love him. In “Vein of Love” he knows that Molly can destroy him, but in this one he can’t keep fighting the attraction and need for her. He knows what falling for Molly could mean but he is willing to risk it to have her. Tensley is such a strong character and this book proves how strong he is! We get to learn more about Tensley and we also get to see more of “the beast” He is such a great character.
“Do you want me, Molly? All of me, man and beast?” he asked gruffly. She nodded against his palm, rotated her hips against his. “Yes.”
Molly try’s so hard to win back Tensley’s trust. She knows that she wants him and everything that comes with being his. Molly is such a badass. She is so freaking strong and fights so hard. She now knows what she wants and she wont stop until she gets it! Molly and Tensley are SEXY AF!! Oh my the heat in this book is so high!!
“Do you want me?” Molly asked, running her hands slowly over her collarbone down to her breast, stroking her nipples until they stood erect. “More than anything’” Tensley said, snatching her and throwing her into the bed.”
God this book is so Freaking Amazing!! I loved every minute! So much action and suspense! Everything in this book is so perfect! I just absolutely loved “Body of the Crime”! Wow! I am so in love with Tensley and Molly! They are officially one of my Top OTP’s!! The ending was so freaking GOOD!! To sum it up in three words Oh My God!!! R .Scarlett knows how to write amazing cliff-hangers! This series is like no other series I have ever read. It is so unique and so special. I am so in love with this book and this series! I can’t wait to devour “A Vow of Thorns” I am Hooked on R. Scarlett’s “Blackest Gold” Series!!
“He was possessed by her- her strength, her courage, her beauty. His dolcezza was a lioness, and he wanted her to dig her claws in deep.”
P.S. One of my favorite parts is when Molly calls him Sweetheart!! I freaking love it when she calls him that!!
Plus- “Don’t be angry with me. I don’t fucking like it.”-Tensley I love this line so much!! It makes me laugh! I LOVE them!

I am just loving Tenley and Molly’s story! Such a thrilling and enjoyable story that I can’t get enough of. There were plenty of times I just wanted to smack Tensley, but then he would turn around and show his sensitive side. I also loved seeing the strength in Molly, that she wouldn’t back down from a challenge and would do whatever she could to protect those she loves.

I was really impressed with Vein of Love and didn’t really think that R. Scarlett could top that first book but boy did she. Body of the Crime is amazing! I couldn’t stop reading and my mind revolved around Tensley and Molly constantly. I was and still am in a Knight/Darling bubble. What really made me love Body of the Crime is the character arcs of Molly and Tensley. What a transformation Molly goes through. From a naive young woman to a strong warrior goddess. She fights for what she wants and that’s Tensley. She isn’t ashamed of what she is but uses it as a strength. To her advantage. Tensley’s arc is incredible too. He’s a demon but still very much a human and doesn’t hide either side from Molly. He tries so hard to fight his beast side and his desire for Molly. Their chemistry is out of this world and gave me tingles.
R. Scarlett kept surprising me throughout this story with twists and turns. It’s a thrilling and entertaining ride and I don’t want to get off. Blackest Gold is definitely one of my favorite PNR series I’ve ever read and this was only book 2.

And when I didn’t think R. Scarlett had the possibility of topping Vein of Love, she blew me away! I have said it a million times and I am going to say it again, this series has made me fall head-over-heels in love with paranormal romance! I have picked up quite a few books from this genre since finishing Vein of Love, looking for anything to sustain me until the second book was release, and although I loved a lot of them, nothing could beat my LOVE for this series. The amazing writing, captivating plot, intricate world building, dynamic characters and epic romance had me begging for more after I turned the last page. This is by far one of my favorite series, paranormal or not, and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
I was instantly captivated from page one! Scarlett’s writing is amazing and I felt like it was even stronger in this installment! I absolutely adored getting to delve deeper into the world of demons, seeing more of their culture and social dynamics. It is this aspect that gives this series a unique spin and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. And that ending! I did not think that Scarlett could leave readers with a bigger cliffhanger than in book one, but this one tore my heart out and took my breath away.
I keep falling deeper in love with these complicated characters. I didn’t think I could like Molly more than I did in book one, but she became even more badass and independent. It was interesting watching her try to balance her normal life (friendships, work and school) with the demon world she was unexpectedly thrown into. I think Molly is a character that a lot of women can relate to considering she is strong, but still occasionally let her heart rule her actions and decisions when it came to Tensley. Tensley was the perfect mix of soft and hard in this book! He still had that savage edge that readers were introduced to in Vein of Love, but his walls have slowly been broken down and I LOVED seeing his caring side. I think that Tensley has to be one of my all-time favorite male protagonists!
I think the only criticism I have about Body of the Crime was the lack of September and Illya! I LOVED them both in Vein of Love and really missed that they were not featured as much in this book. I understand that this book mainly focused on the progressing relationship between Molly and Tensley, but one of my favorite things about book one was the amazing friendships and the dynamic cast of characters. However, Scarlett did introduce a whole new cast of characters that I very much enjoyed getting to know.
Just like Vein of Love, my favorite thing about this book was the romance! I enjoyed seeing Molly and Tensley explore their relationship and communicate better. This is some of the best angst I have read within a book. It was SO palpable, it was literally radiating off the page. And it was S-T-E-A-M-Y without being over the top or awkward. I was over the moon by the end of it because I was happy to see their progress and an excited to see how their relationship is going to develop with their impending complications.
Overall, I LOVED it! I cannot get enough of this series and it is going to be pure torture waiting for the next book! This is a series that I see readers devouring within days of starting because it is so addictive, captivating and entrancing. Please pick up this series because R. Scarlett defiantly deserves every bit of praise she gets for creating this masterpiece!

I. Am. All. IN! This story was so much more intense and the romance-! Tensely and Molly have finally accepted their attraction for another and now that it’s out there in the open, a whole other can of worms are about to be unleashed. It’s an exciting installment in the Blackest Gold series as Molly goes from dealing with the existence of demons in the world to loving one. What’s wrong with that? The demon in question can’t return her feelings, or he’ll grow a heart, the ultimate no-no in the demon world.
I seriously loved this book more than the first. As a hardcore romantic, it was great to finally see them play the game of love and fight to work out their relationship. It was entertaining and fun, engaging with the other characters. Hot in the other scenes, and- just ,wow. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, and I’m extremely happy I continued because this book sealed the deal for me. Recommended read if you like demons, daemons, the urban fantasy spice of life with a dash of darkness, and- well, Tensely. lol.

Wow. Just wow. Once again R. Scarlett has successfully thrown me into the world of demons and other paranormal creatures effortlessly. Not only does she create characters who you love and root for, but she creates characters that you absolutely LOATHE. Amazing writing that actually makes you feel all of the feelings.
When we last left Molly and Tensley things were pretty tense between them. They had just killed Abbadon after he took Molly prisoner and tried to claim her. HELL NO, thankfully that didn’t happen… but Tensley, the bone head, also didn’t lay his claim on his beautiful daemon fiancé. So here we have two people who want each other, but are doing everything EXCEPT giving into those feelings.. or in Tens case his “lack of feelings.” *winky face*
Molly is on the hunt for Cree and the other demon hunters, so that she can save Lex and get vengeance for being tricked into betraying Tensley. She is no longer the weak girl we had in book one. Oh no, she’s embracing her inner daemon and taking names. I personally really LOVED her in this story. She was well written and didn’t take much crap!
Tensley is just trying to fit into his role as the future Dux, keep Molly safe, deal with all the annoying demons in his life, and not let his beast side take over when he’s around Molly. Even though he wants to let loose so badly and just claim her. (I feel you Tensley, I’m dying for it too!!). Tensley is trying so hard to avoid his feelings for Molly and be the demon he is supposed to be. Cruel, cold, and bad essentially. Unfortunately Tensley is too damn well rounded, and in this story he proves that he’s capable of doing both.
I don’t want to ruin anything, but what I will say is that Body of The Crime did not disappoint. There is so much sexual tension between Molly and Tensley, and there is even just some plain old normal tension. In this story they work on trust, forgiveness, and maybe even love?? Some oldies but goodies return; September, Illya, Stella, and Tina. Some that we love to hate; Mr. Knight, Evelyn, Cree, and Fallen with the honorable mention. We also get some new people thrown into the mix that keep the story interesting and keep you guessing on their intentions.
Things get pretty hot and steamy at some points between Molly and Tens. They also get dangerous and scary at points too. What I love about this story is even though it’s paranormal romance the love story feels so real. Even though the issues and angst they deal with are supernatural, they can sort of be applied to real life. Like not wanting to give your heart to someone because of the repercussions. It may be literal in this story, but it’s true to real life as well.
Hmm. All in all this was a great story. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Between squashing the bad guys, and figuring out whether or not Molly would FINALLY be claimed… it was a wild ride. OF COURSE, the story isn’t over… and that’s all I’ll say about that one.
Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys an angsty paranormal romance, with a tiny hint of mystery and suspense.

I loved getting more of Tensley and Molly again in this book. Plenty of action, double crossing and angst in this one. My heart was racing in parts. This one also had lots of emotions. We get to know everyone and their motives a lot better and are left wanting more from the story.
Ends on a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to read book 3.

Recommended read if you like demons, daemons, the urban fantasy spice of life with a dash of darkness, and- well, Tensely. lol.
A PERFECT continuation of Blackest Gold Series! I absolutely enjoyed this book so much. I love it when a book sucks you in and you feel like you’re there, and that is EXACTLY how I felt. The character development was so enjoyable to watch. I have grown to love these characters immensely! I definitely recommend this book!!!!
Wow.
